    ...and Reby Sky, right?

Were you around when Daz3d was hyping up the release of "Who is Reby Sky"?

It was a huge thing. She adds a lot to Victoria 4 from Elite Textures to Elite Shapes to additional Expressions built in (if you INJect them) as morphs!

The Reby Sky Bundle also comes with Reby Hair! It's awesome! Plenty of morphs for fitting and movements!

    Dartanbeck,

I met Reba Sky at the DAZ booth at Macworld or Comic-con years back. She didn't look that good in real life. Maybe it was the clothes. Lol

The Ocean Queen Mega Bundle from RDNA comes with Dragon Rider gear for both V4 and M4 AND a whole new Dragon figure, the Ocean Queen!!! Very cool!

Oh... and she also gets a saddle and harness. The dragon, herself, is not (at least at this time) sold separately here. But on Sale for all of this for $4.00... Whew!!! Have to give her a try!

Where Pray tell did you get this amazing creature at for free?

    I am so jealious!!!!

Truely great renders though Diva you did her justice for sure!!

Aww Thanks! I'm glad you like the renders. Sadly, I don't do her nearly the justice that her creator does - his gallery is filled with AMAZING images of her: http://bestmanpi.deviantart.com/gallery/

He does really incredible work, his renders are gorgeous!

You can get Rebeca's shape here: http://www.sharecg.com/v/85539/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Rebeca-R3.09

And her shader (very important) here: http://www.sharecg.com/v/83595/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Rebeca-shaders

She uses Victoria 7 mats, so you have to have V7 to get her to look right. However if you don't have V7 she might look decent with your favorite G3 skin textures. I haven't tried her with any other textures though other than her default textures (V7) and the textures that I made. So I can't guarantee she'll look as good with other G3 textures. :)

If you get her and do some renders I'd love to see - definitely send me the links so I can check 'em out! :D

@ Knittingmommy when I got out of school I was lucky I had a roomate, that her mother worked at Victoria Secrets and I got in the ground floor in the cutting room and worked my way up nothing glamerous. I was a big nerd in school and still now.. I worked for them until i got married in 2001

I never used Ipage. But i have used hostgator and Ehost, Pacificwebworks, Miva, a few others   Just depends what the people I'm building the web site for wants me to use for hosting. I like godaddy for their c-panal and the ready made server sides & vaults their easy to connect shopping carts too.,  you should check out their  Afillate program  https://www.godaddy.com/affiliates/affiliate-program.aspx?ci

All I can advise anyone on books covers is just keep plugging away with your art sometimes you get lucky like I did and hook up with the right person. to get you started.   if you want to publish books & covers for yourself. you can do it through Createspace.com  an Amazon publishing company and they will list your work for you free on Amazon to sell.  its a great way to get started.

    Good Luck :)

My plan is to publish through Amazon when I finish my novel.  If I ever finish.  It always seems like the closer I get to being done the more work I still need to do to it.  Hopefully, in the next month or two, though, as I am so ready to put this one to bed and get it out there!  I've done a lot of research and Indie publishing is definitely how I plan to go at it.

You can always use wayback machine to open an older copy of runtimedna, that still has some more information on these products.

For the M4 products use http://web.archive.org/web/20160111210816/http://www.runtimedna.com/Michael-4-Characters/

For the V4 products use http://web.archive.org/web/20160115230844/http://www.runtimedna.com/Victoria-4-Characters

The links go to a sitecopy from January I think, it will load quite slow, but at least the pages are intact and you can open. Search doesn't work, so you have to click through the pages. Have an eye on 'Additional Notes' especially, it sometimes says without textures etc.

I have often admired your avatar and it's nod to the great Da Vinci. It's cool too see it so large. I hadn't noticed the skeletal/robotic pieces before. Reading the description is great too - seams to be exactly what you're aiming for with your art program. :)

Is the character the leggy one or is it a totally different figure?

Totally different character (though it may be a sign that I need to branch out a bit lol). I didn't have much content back then, and IIRC, she's based largely on Victoria 5 Supermodel. I kit bashed the cybernetic parts from DzFire's awesome Cyborg:

    http://www.daz3d.com/cyborg-version-4

It was great fun separating/resizing/positioning all the parts, and then parenting them to her bones, creating JCMs, etc. I think the cyborg was actually the first content I ever bought (paid full price for it lol). I thought it was so incredible, and I just had to have it in order to work on this project. Highly recommended and worth every penny. This was on my first (short-lived) DAZ account before I adopted "Algovincian".

Ohhhh Cool! I hadn't seen the cyborg thing before, that looks really cool. I wonder how they did that!? It looks like it would have taken a ton of work to get the mesh to be compatible with such extreme shapes! Very Nice! I've added it to my wishlist. :) You did really good with the cyborg parts - I bet that took a lot to get it to be integrated with the "biological" elements of the character. Worth it though, it looks cool!

  • Why I chose this character, over that one...
I buy most of Lyoness (not everyone on release, but many) as she now includs a no brow option, various brows, and anatomical elements. I remember asking about the no brow options and she (I hope she not he) said would do for the next character as well as include anatomical bits. So the quality is excellent, and there are options included to. A win win. :)

This is an excellent example of showing the skin texture.

    http://www.daz3d.com/hongyu-s-bikini-for-victoria-7

Funny that it's about the bikini. So whilst Daz has strict guidelines on nudity, the bikini doesn't break those rules.

..How'd I miss that bikini?  Thank you. :)  I've started including a no brow option as well after seeing more than a few form threads about it.  So far, I've only not included anatomical elements to one character, and that was before I got my grubby hands on Gen3F's- so those are included as well.  As a customer, that was a major problem with me- even if I don't do a lot of full nudes, I want that choice if I find I'm wanting too.  I do try to produce products I'd buy, but I also lurk in here to see what else has been posted on what people want and see if I can incorporate that into my products.

I have been twiddling in 3DL again, just to see how much of a difference it would be and how much time I'd need to render out a simple portrait (my time outside of work and life is limited) to figure out if adding 3DL would be time prohibited.

    Glad to help.wink

... And glad to hear that, I'll be checking out your store. I have your Aylin character, and that would be because there was enough skin for me to make a decission on; although I would prefer more. I expect that the face morph (which has character as opposed to being classically beautiful) was also an influence. I buy very few male characters. So explains why I have just the one of yours. One issue I did have a problem with, was the hair under the arms; it's very distinctive, and as many women keep themselves shaved, at least in some cultures, unsuitable for some scenarios.

If we accidentally buy a character without gen maps, they are promptly returned. Nude renders are not really common, but I don't want to have to go through every character that I think will fit and see if they are properly done or not when I do need a nude render.
And it's a nobrainer to show as much skin as the wierd no nudity rules here allow. Why would people buy a product they can't even see in the promo renders?

It would be like Stonemason, only providing a couple of renders of his scenes, for example. Or not showing the lake in in his Fern Lake Bundle. Skin is integral to the character, but it's like folks are embarrassed about showing it off. It takes a lot of work to produce a well done one.

... Which brings me to another point; if you're (random PAs that don't) not showing it off: what's wrong with it that it must be hidden away?

I'm not saying there is, but I tend to presume there is something wrong with it as it isn't displayed. And considering the number of tickets I've raised the last few days: more than just the four from one PA (which have been confirmed as issues by customer service), that might actually be the case on occasions.

I'm familiar with Godaddy.com as I have a few of my websites registered through them.  I had their hosting for a long time but recently switched over to iPage.com.  I remember that Victoria's Secret thing during the Superbowl.  That was big back then.  Color me very impressed.  Cool covers, too.  The desire to do book covers, specifically my own, is how I got turned onto DS.  I ended up working on a couple I hope to sell on an Indie site so we'll see how that goes.

Sorry to hear about the stalker issue.  Never a good thing.  Some people can become obsessed at the drop of a hat sometimes and you can never tell what will set them off on their obsession.  Stay safe.

  • Preview Lights Not Working with Skin Textures

Are you saying that when working interactively in the program, it is not possible to see the effect of lights on surfaces with skin textures? Everyone is working "in the dark" (or in the glow in the dark, rather) and has to do a render every time to see a minor change in lighting? I'm not talking about preview mode being perfect, to look as good as a final render, but the images I attached should tell the story here.

In each image, there are no camera headlights, the backdrop is pure black, the render settings are set to Dome and Scene (I also tried just Scene with no change), and there is a single spotlight behind the figure. There is no other illumination in the scene.

The image on the far left entitled "no_preview_all_skinned.jpg" shows all surfaces that should normally have skin textures using the "Summer All Mat" preset purchased with the Victoria 7 Pro Bundle, with preview lights set to off. This appears as expected due to preview lights being off.

The image in the middle entitled "preview_all_skinned" has all the same settings and texture presets as the first image, but preview lights are on. This does NOT look as expected. Note that the hair and clothes are being illuminated by the spotlight, while the surfaces with the skin texture are glowing in the dark, and then also being illuminated in addition by the spotlight.

To fully illustrate the problem, the third image shows the skin on the body using the default material preset after placing a Victoria 7 figure, while the face still has a preset for makeup textures. Note that the body skin is showing correctly, taking illumination from the only light source in the scene, while the face is glowing in the dark.

Are you telling me that this is the expected behavior and how everyone works in this software?
