DAZ duff files Verses Poser files
Moral of the story:
If CR2 doesn't work, try DUF
If DUF doesn't work, try CR2
If neither work, go into their native software and try re-saving it back into the library after dialing some morphs up and down.
If it's a Poser Weight Map issue, use Fenric's cool utility

I recall having issues like that with older figures. I think it might have been Michael 2 or 1? Can't remember.

Savannah Hair... Where did it go???Hi,
Total Daz newbie here (only had it 2 days) so forgive my ignorance. I just purchased Victoria 7 and Savannah Hair, both installed with the Install manager. I have installed other stuff okay, both with the Manager and by manually extracting zip files and all is working fine with the exception of Savannah Hair. I can't see it in my content library anywhere. According the readme file (and this looks to be correct), files are in...

PS I've tired searching content library for Savannah but with no results.OT - PAs and Dazaholics, share your artist name origin story!I am not a pa but a dazaholic. I do not know where I got the name Kulay from but I used that name originally a wolf character in my story. There was a baby Dragon named Chika and a wolf named Kulay. For some reason I used the name Kulay to register my daz account with and it stuck.
I registered at daz over a decade ago as I wanted to get into 3d art and was looking for software to get into. I heard about this Victoria 3 figure and wanted to get her legally. It was shortly after I registered I got a starter bundle with a version of Victoria and Michael 3.
Later on I tried to change my username from Kulay to something else but that did not much good. Now I am Kulay Wolf.
Why does DAZ Studio customers like Conforming Cloths better then Dynamic Cloths ?... Right, now that the world has stopped spinning, I have a couple of questions: 1.- Supposedly, VWD can convert any item into a dynamic one, but I've yet to see it being used for the classic couch-butt collision. Does it work well in such cases? 2.- Related question, how much work does it take to have more than one figure interacting with the same item? Say, a dynamic tug of war or someone pulling someone else's hair? 3.- Related 2: Relate Harder. Does it give nice results in a figure-to-figure collision? Say, Victoria slapping Michael or Millennium Dog biting Gianni? How about solving the classic boobs-of-steel walking problem?Answers to highlighted by line
- see pic below
- not much work, once you understand the "character" of VWD plugin (plugins have unique personalities too!)
- theoretically doable for still renders with one figure being turned into a prop.
- subject to artistry and skills; dog biting at human or furniture can surely be done with VWD "dynamic sculpting"
- subject to modeling/sculpting skills; as far as I know cloth objects will be turned into non-figures. As I said earlier, "prop-pified". But so long boobs are bouncing under a layer of fabric, can theoretically be done. Some kind of special bra or "temporal jelly silicon" underwear lol
Pic 1 no sim.
Pic 2 minimal pinning, 2-3 minutes dynamic sculpting. Very wobbly, result more like bean bag.
Pic 3 with pinning and rigidification by neighborhood, hard. Only 30 seconds of dynamic sculpting.

Daz Studio finally has a kind of "morph brush". Yeepeeee
Not saying it's all roses, VWD still isn't 100% stable and integrated with DS, and I'm not saying it will be easy for 3D newbies. But I'm really liking this strange new ways of sculpting... ZBrushers and Mudboxers and Blender tribe will love it no doubt!

Edit: Sorry, for some reason, my phone is eating up paragraphs and I don't know how to fix it.
2nd edit: Fixed from a proper computer. Still baffled.

AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO? PARTE UNDICICiao a tutti,
Grazie sempre!

Did Hiro gene pool spawn Kenji 7? Is Gianni 6 and 7 the taking over for The Freak? Or is that Ivan? (He look a little scary to me.)
Josie came out before Michael, so is the Jayden on the bench some place or is Josie odd girl out, like Aiko 6 was with no Hiro 6?
Will David the Odd Take the stage or was he replaced by Leo or Scott. (He is the Odd because he only is release every odd generation)

Pretty much. I have my own list that I've been keeping track of, albeit a more simplified version of it:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_7-dyE9mH-Dd0FBZW5INFRxanM
But yeah, DAZ and PAs have pretty much confirmed that characters like David, Freak, and Hiro are done-with. Kenji is the spiritual successor to Hiro as characters like Gianni and Ivan are to Freak (with Gia and Rune doing the same for She Freak in that respect). I've actually very recently inquired DAZ_Steve about a Stephanie 7 and a David successor (which hasn't gotten a reply, no surprise). Either way, I'm quite confident that such is very well in the queue as Stephanie has yet to miss a Generation, and with this awesome trend of "Early-Month Female, Later-Month Male Counterpart" that's been going on, it's highly likely that she will indeed come with a David replacement. Though, if you look at the FBMs of some of the newer female stuff, there seems to be a "Sunny 7" coming soon, so a Stephanie 7/"David Successor" 7 might not happen until the end of this year or next.Install Types: Daz Connect or Install Manager Why one and Not the other?Well - to make Connect a bit easier to use - add the install tab to the viewport and minimize the right and left panes; now it's easier to select a lot of products at once. And Connect only downloads the changed file when a product is updated - so it may only download a 36 KB pose and not the entire 450 MB zip with updated pose the way DIM does. Also, metadata updates are automatic; with DIM it's back to downloading the entire product again.
But - Connect doesn't do software; DIM does. Also, the file structure Connect uses doesn't work for the generation 4 figures (Michael 4, Victoria 4, and all their -4 friends) so you need to use DIM to install them. You can easily archive the DIM zip files to an external drive, so you don't need to download them again; with Connect, you need to copy a directory that contains up to several million files to get the same result.
And - the killer for me - Connect requires a reasonably fast internet connection to your main system; I don't have that, so I drag a laptop off to a wifi hotspot to download with DIM and then copy the files at home so DIM on the main system can install them.

Heard a rumor about V8Man, Let them finish releasing the Genesis 3 family before talking about Genesis 4 figures.
I think there are a few more members of the family still in the wings, unless they have replaced them with other names. In my opinion, Daz3D will only release a new base figure line if it is essential to growth. Genesis 2 was released because content developers had issues supporting all shapes on a unimesh (Genesis1), so they split the genders and vendor\content support more than doubled. Genesis 3 was released so that it can be used in other commercial apps and game systems so that it's market does not only appeal to Studio users, thus greater usability. I don't expect a Genesis 4 anytime soon unless it adds a dramatic game changing feature or is essential to market progression, or does something the existing figure line cannot do. V8 can be done on G3:) There is no rule that says every Victoria requires a brand new figure base.
I'd agree with that.
I remember hearing something about Genesis 3 family was brought out as a More Orderly and cleaner mesh, to take advantage of the other business opportunities, like gaming. If you compare the messes of G3F and G2F you can see what I am talking about.
Genisis 3 also has more bones for better posing options, that is good.
So no V8 talk unless it fix on a frame and does 0-60 in 3.5 second or better.
No V8 for me. I'm not buying until they release W16.
...but W16 will will require 32 GB of memory and a full 500 GB of free drive space to run. It will take full control of your system, downloading and installing what it thinks you need, deleting what it thinks you no longer need whnever it feels like it, opening the programmes it feels you should be using, tracking everything, and I mean everything you do in life even when away form the computer (for telemetry puposes of course, however a bug in the code will stream all this data to North Korea's Red Star 3 network), and Cortana 6 will nag at you for everything from not changing your socks, to when to put the kettle on for tea, to when to take the dog for walkies.
..oh, and don't even think about X32, that requires top super secret ultraviolet clearance which even the President doesn't have.

Exceptable.
3d printing is now active at the storeNo stuff that would allow for stripping of the models. AKA…digital games and the like…unless we get a commercial license that allows it…
There are 3D scanners ... stripping the physical models would be possible with those.
Sorry to resurrect a zombie thread, but I just want to point out that with at least two (the more the better) renders, stripping the physical models is possible with *those* too. Allow me to point out that it's 2016 now (although this is hardly new, it's been going on for several years and was certainly the case in 2015).
http://www.agisoft.com <-- See? That can make a 3d model from a few 2D renderings.Ths renders need to be overlapping, or stereo images. Two renders will only produce the 3D data of the areas that can be clearly seen by both images. If trying to get 3D data from rendered images, you will need the figures to be in exactly the same position. I'm quite familiar with Agisoft Photoscanner, and to get a high quality 3D model from rendered images, you would need a lot more than 2 images, probably in the range of 15-30 images, but probably many more to get reasonably defined details. You would also probably need special textures to ensure there are no areas where the software would have problems resolving regions of homogenous textures (i.e. smooth surfaces on armor would fail to generate good 3D data). It would be possible to generate a decent model from a series of renders done in a "turntable" environment from several different vantage points, but just pulling random images from say Victoria 7 on the web to create the model wouldn't work.

Transfer Utility crashes when used--rigging shoesHopefully I'm missing a step somewhere. I'm trying to transfer rigging from a G3F character to a pair of shoes originally made for V4. When I use the transfer utility on the shoes as a figure (after adding weight mapping), it appears to work, but the bones don't match--I get what looks like G2 bones in the thighs rather than the Thigh Bend and Thigh Twist bones. Because the bones don't match, posing the thighs of the figure once the shoes are fitted leaves the shoes floating in space. (Essentially, I followed Sickleyield's tutorial as modified here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/59515/another-converting-victoria-4-footwear-to-genesis-2-maybe-g3f-small-update)
To try to force the transfer utility to use the G3 bones, I made the shoes a prop, no bones at all to confuse it. When I set transfer utility up with the G3 figure as source and the shoes as target, the moment I click Accept on the utility, Studio crashes. I did this following the step-by-step on DAZ's page, so thought it ought to work, but clearly something isn't computing correctly. Any ideas why neither of these work?
Thanks in advance for any help.

75% off instead of 65% off (plus PC+ 30% off) with purchase of new PA sale item. Are you saying it should be $6 with discount, because I can't seem to get the price below $7.86 with a new purchase. I even started dumping more new stuff in the cart just to see but the price doesn't change.
