Smell like... uhhmm teen spirit? The famous American rapper Dr. 2-PIC, who had been in the studio all day recording his latest album, took a short break and, while enjoying a hand-rolled cigarette, spoke to 2 fans who happened to see him standing outside the studio building. Claire was so nervous she poked him with the old-fashioned notepad for his signature and Alysha went all out taking pictures. Barret (his real name) became slightly annoyed by his manager who yelled at him to come back inside. "Whot man? Whot strong smell?"

...while shopping I saw a good "tough girl" outfit today that could work by Linday that has braces (suspenders) and a tie, as well as a nice array of textures, but the downside is the shirt doesn't have a button up morph and shows too much cleavage. Might be able to used a different shirt or blouse to keep it more "business-like".

I don't think that anyone is doubting that. We've seen AWESOME things already am 100% sure that your project is going to be very cool. But I am also 100% sure that you'd finish faster and the result would be much closer to your artistic vision if you first took the detour to learn how to get your content into better tools and to learn those tools. I'd ask you why you are so dead set on doing this in DS? Why would you not use the best tool for each job? Do you really want to prove it so much that you're willing to compromise the most important thing, the actual project, and inflict upon yourself the pain and frustration that DS is already well documented to cause?

I seriously am curious and am interested in your point of view... why do you feel the need to prove something about DS to anyone at the expense of the most important thing, i.e. the actual project?

For wont of a better explanation, I am going to assume that is the reason.

There is no doubt that Blender (and other, though costly, applications) can do things like animation much better than DAZ Studio. The DAZ timeline is a source of constant complaints from most of us who have tried it and how we wish that the features that Blender has were available without the need for the tedious and complicated process of getting your characters from DAZ Studio to Blender while maintining all the feature that DAZ Studio provides as well. I'm talking about clothes and hair that drape along with the animation, or geografts that have hundreds of morphs that can also be animated.

I invested good money in the Alive tutorial on Blender Animation but it, like other Blender tutorials, assumes that you are woking with models created in Blender. So in order to get to the starting point where you have a figure that can be animated, you have to go through a learning curve involving a lot of what experienced Blender users would call "the basics". I mean interface navigation, rigging, shape keys, camera control, working with materials and textures and the Blender node system.

All of that is far from trivial. Some of it may not apply to everyone. For example - some may not need cloth simulation because they use tight, conforming clothing. They might not need geografts. They might be happy with the diffeo material conversion so have no need to tweak anything in the node system. I am not experienced in Blender and the reason for that is that every time I make the effort to try to do in Blender what I can do in DAZ Studio, I fail miserably. Generally I fail because I get to a point of needing to do something relatively simple but don't know how. So I spend hours on YouTube watching videos which do not address that "simple" thing. There is a wealth of information about Blender out there but it is almost as daunting as the Blender feature list itself when you want to find something specific but don't know how to search for it. People who are expereinced with Blender have been through (and probably forgotten) all that pain. Or they have moved from being experienced in other similar applications so know exactly what they need to look for in Blender to become experienced.

The Diffeomorphic bridge is a fantastic piece of work and seems to cover almost every requirement but it is,due to the extensive scope, quite complex in itself. Again it assumes some familiarity with Blender which brings us back to the points made above. So all I am saying is that I understand why people who have spent many years buying content and working with it in DAZ Studio feel more comfortable putting up with the (serious) shorcomings of the program rather than attempting to transfer that content (and the skills required) to Blender. Not everyone has the same capacity for attaining and transferring skills. What might seem obvious and trivial to some might seem to be a daunting task for others.

If there's a morph with percentage, how can I know how much frames does it have?

Update: I got the answer.
In the parameter settings > Key Tab

But what is RAW and TCB 0,0,0?

Hemm, I though I understood. How to use the key?

I check a slider parameter settings, the key tab, it says there are 10 frames

So, if I add keys, like this

key 0 v:0

key 10 v:100

Does this mean from frame 0 to 10 the value will be 0 to 100%?

Update:
It seems in my case
0 = 0%
1 = 100%
Slider morph A in percentage : slider morph B in percentage

Key 0:0 means if slider morph A 0%, slider morph B will also be 0%
Key 1:1 means if slider morph A 100%, slider morph B will also be 100%

everything in between will be calculated based on those keys.

It doesn't look it has anything with keyframes.

Links and Aliases are two different ways to have one proeprty diectly match another - in the cases of Link it is a 1:1 correspondence, for Alias it is two properties on the  figure which both drive the same attribute (see the bend and twist cotnrols on the Bend or Twist bones for recent figures.

A link is not saved as its own file, it is saved with one of the properties being linked - Save With let's you choose which. For your own clothing set it wouldn't matter, but if you created a morph for the base figure you would want to save the links for things like joint centre adjustments with your morph not the joint setting for the base figure 9which you couldn't distribute, and which would be overwritten by any update).

I tried to follow up with the basics, then something went wrong, the hair style, (it seems there is nothing else than short hair and no availibility of medium to long hair)

Then, I tired to change the hair color and neither the skin tone, I can't get it right!

Pardon me for jumping in... if you sit on the bluff above SLC with a pair of binoculars, those lines of armored trucks that come and go from "DAZ Central" all day and all night are filled with (1) hair products to be added to the store catalog, and (2) going out, bitcoins that will be deposited in DAZ's offshore (and soon to be off-planet) accounts.

Just kidding. Hair is THE big category. This is where you get to spend the most money.

I also noticed that the string "Surface Tool" (and its attendant Pane) do not seem appear in this thread.

In DAZ Studio, changing the *color* of something on or beside Product or Object "X", is often done by clicking on any of the optons or choices for that item. But you can also select the item or a section of if in the Scene Pain (sorry - "pane") with various Tools. Tools are listed at the top usually, eg: File, Edit, Create, Tools, Window etc.

Again if you have purchased or otherwise acquired some hair (sometimes hair is free - this is where they see if you're paying attention) then there should be some material (that's sort of a word for "coloring") choices. One you've clicked on the your hair or any other Surface (with a capital "S") options that you got (and in the case of hair, the hair geometry has been fitted to your figure M/F, the color and other attributes CAN be changed. SOMETIMES the product creator or Published Artist (PA) will split hair colour into a separate set or sets of choices that you have to pay extra for if you want them, but in many instances you can just select hair in the scene with the Surface Tool, and then in the Surface Pane you'll have things that you can do with it - you can change the color if you want - perhaps not in any elegant way, but it CAN be changed - or you can browse for and apply some pre-made shader.

Now skin "tone" is a tricky term here - for me it leans towards tone mapping which is another ball game being played in a different city - but if you buy an additional character package for your base character then that product will like as not include some skin tone or color choices. For example there could be a premade product called "Wet, Tanned, Bare Skin etc. Options" for Michael or Victoria "X"... but technically speaking you could also click on your unclothed figure in the Scene Pane and from there slide over or up to the Surface Pane, and you'll have options for "Base Color". In the rawest sense of this, your figure may literally be green, white (as in Titanium White or RGB 0,0,0) red, black, brown, purple or even scales or polka-dots.

To get to understand the choices you should go for a basic figure (Genesis, G2, G3, G8* etc.) and having made that choice, get an appropriate Michael or Victoria figure to match. These will come with "skin" texture sets that can be further modified with BUMP and normal and displacement mapping and lighting an so on. It's where you'll get the really subtle stuff going - although you can also tint or otherwise alter your supplied skin texture sets using an image editor like Photoshop or GIMP or Corel Graphics Suite etc. Just be sure to save your version of the textures under a separate, easy to remember filename... I usually make use of key-strings like "modified" or simply "my version".

I had another thing to mention which is the DAZ Store and its search conventions - as this will also affect what extras and accessories you will come up with and when, on your exploratory journney.

P.S. Some image editors (I'm not sure if GIMP includes this) will optionally spit out BUMP and Normal maps for your textures. All of them will of course allow darkening or lightening and alterations to various tints and hues.

*.Genesis 8 figure sets are generally more feature rich and have higher resolutions and morph options than their predecessors... your results may vary. I have been using Genesis 3 a lot to make "life" drawing reference images on an older computer that still runs Windows 7.

That is a compelling image. But with AI there always something that feels out of place,  in this case the hand.

If you zero the shape (Edit>Figure>Zero>Zero Figure Shape) do the joints bend correctly? If so that means one of the morphs in use is not correctly adjusting the joint centres; if not ti means that there is a rogue joint adjustment that is kicking in without its morph being applied.

Hi Richard, thx for information. I did change some of her "looks" as in breast, buttocks, facial structure and of course normal muscle / fitness changes but I'd be lying if I said she do not have some morph to her. Just cannot remember what I did. Her default body model is Frankie.

I'll have a look at the skeleton to see what is going on as you suggested.

That would depend on the type and values of the link.

I'm also confuse.

this pJCMShinBend_90_ slider doesn't have the shin Bend as its controller, empty.
How come the shin can affect that slider value?

Each slider has auto-follow option, to conform its morph with the base character.
Probably the bone what connecting these two sliders.
Since the base character and the cloth has the same bones.

Yes, AutoFollow, but it's the morph names that trigger it - which is what i have said in soem of yourother threads, if the JCM is one that the figure already has then you just need a morph that has the same name without having to set up the ERC on the fitted item.

Most likely that means that two of the characters you isntalled use the same name for one or more of their properties and that the links that allow one property to drive anothe are therefore apaprently referring to the same thing (e.g. you have Thingy's JaneDoe and Whosit's JaneDoe, both have a full body controller named FBMJaneDoe and a head morph named FHMJaneDoe - when the links in each say that FBMJaneDoe should set FHMJaneDoe they are using exactly the same names - and in this case probably the same values). Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File and search for duplicate should find one of the conflciting pair, you will then have to try to work out which the other one is from the name. Check to be sure you have the latest builds of the characters involved and if you do please report the issue  to Daz (for characters from the Daz store) or the creator (for other characters).
