Unified brain ,. I'm not that 3D-Age.  sorry.

On the transition from Studio, to Carrara,. something that must be mentioned,.. to understand why we're here,. is Poser.

Poser was the program which Zygote (later to become Daz3D) started to make models for.

Poser was sold to another company,.  then again, and again,.  and as a content producer for a product, with an uncertain future,. it was a sensible strategic decision to create their own software,. Daz Studio.

Studio was built to allow the same models to be used in the same way, and hopefully encourage Poser users to buy Daz Studio.

the structure of Content libraried was exactly the same as Poser,. the workflow was very similar to poser,. which should make it an easy transition for users.

Around the same time,. Carrara was purchased by Daz3D from it's developer Eovia.

it had the ability to Import Poser / Daz3D models in their native format,. so they could be used in the same way as in Poser or Daz Studio

On using Carrara to load content,. that should be the same. or almost the same as in Studio or Poser

you'd load content from the browser,. either from your Daz3D library, Poser runtime library, or your own Carrara content.

Carrara has three default scene scales,. which is a bit different from Studio or Poser. ..Medium scale is ideal for working with human scale figures.

Applying or adjusting figure morphs,. is done in the figures "Parameters" tab,. depending on the figure, or part of the figure you have selected.

To add clothing or hair to a figure,. Select the figure,. browse to the content, and double click to load and "fit it" to the selected figure.

If you didn't have a figure selected,.. you can "Fit" the clothing or hair to the figure by using the "fit to" option in the right hand panel General tab.

To apply poses,. you can double click a premade pose in your content library ,. or manually pose the figure using the tools on the left to move rotate etc.

you can manually select bones and move or rotate them,. ..you can select multple bones,. EG: Both hands,. and move them at the same time.

you can right click over an object in your scene to get a list of objects under the mouse,. EG: bones in a figure's hand.

then select the object from that list.

Applying textures / materials,. MatPoses for content, should be the same process,.load from browser,.

In the majority of cases,. the structure of these shaders made for DS and Poser need some minor adjustment in carrara's shader room,. to look better.

Carrara translates the "Surfaces" structure from Studio or Poser items,. into it's own shader system. and like any translation,. some time perfect is not. :)

Even good old Victoria 4's shaders need to have some minor adjustments to look it's best in Carrara, instead of sickly green.

Simple things like reflection maps for eye's, which carrara doesn't need,. the eyes can reflect the objects in the carrara scene.

Most of the time, you can load any content and simply render for a decent image,. but if you spend a little time in the shader rooms you can make it look better.

There are some obvious differences in features and functionaltity between Carrara and Daz Studio, or Poser,. but the basic workflow of using "content" in carrara should be the same as in Poser or Daz Studio.

If there's something in Carrara that you're having difficulty with,. or something that you think is different from what you're used to doing in studio,. maybe you could help us out by highlighting those areas,. and I'll try to help.

Also,.. whether you come from Studio,. Poser,  some other 3D software,. or nothing at all,. there's a learning curve for all things new,.

Carrara's learning curve is relatively easy,. when compared to most 3D suites,.. which don't support native loading of Daz/Poser figures.

It can sometimes be difficult to tell whether you need all of the required items, or just one of them.  Here are some guidelines:

1 - if the required items are different figures, you only need one.  For example, if a hair lists both Victoria 4 and Michael 4, you don't need both

2 - if a clothing item lists a figure and various morph packs, that usually means the morphs are supported, but the clothing will work with just the base figure

3 - if a character lists a figure and various morphs, then you do need the morphs to get the character to look exactly as shown; however, the figure shape may be pretty close even if you're missing some of the morphs

das mit den UV-Sets verstehe ich nicht so ganz. Die sind doch für alle Characters / Varianten der entsprechenden kompatiblen Generation identisch.

G1 Basic Child:      The Kids 4
G1 Base Male:       Michael 4 / einige auch Victoria 4
G2 Base Male:       Base Male, dto. für Brothers und Growing Up
G3 Base Male:       merkwürdiger Weise heißt das auch Base Male, besitzt aber eine andere Aufteilung; G2 Base Male textures passen nicht.

Aber was hat UV-Set mit der Geometrie zu tun?
Das UV-Set beschreibt doch nur, welche Texture-Koordinaten wo auf der Geometrie (die wohl mesh genannt wird) liegen.

Die Genitals-Props sind doch Geometrie. Sind also relativ zu Hip orientiert und der Krümmung der mesh an dieser Stelle angepaßt.
Problematisch ist mit Sicherheit, angepaßte Textures für die jeweiligen neuen Character-Textures zu bekommen.

Oder liege ich da sooo grundsätzlich falsch? Oder habe ich die entsprechende Passage in Deinem Post nur falsch verstanden?

Nochmal zu dem "tiefer in die Tasche greifen":
Wozu soll man viel Geld für Pakete ausgeben, die man für die basis-Figur bereits in der zurückliegenden Zeit für teures Geld erworben hat?
Und das nur für diese kleine anatomische Ergänzung?
Mindestens 50% von Michael 6 habe ich eh schon für meinen Genesis 2. Weitere 30% sind zwar ganz nett, habe ich aber keine Verwendung für.

Fixed how - are you an owner of more than 5 figures not getting the bethany offer? If so we can rasie that with Daz. Or are you wanting an offer of a figure you don't already have? I think that's probably just luck of the draw.

Aplogies if I was unclear. It's not getting the Bethany offer I'm refering too. I'm not sure, but there seemed to be an offer for Eva too, but I already had her so that doesn't matter to me personally.

I'm creating an animated character in Daz (Victoria Seven) Gen 3 and dessing her in "Vigilante Outfit for Genesis 3". 

I need help rigging, I use the DUF Gen 3 feamle Facial Key in daz and CAN import into 3dxchange without clothes but when I add the clothes and animate the program crashes.

Also even without animation the Vigilante boot on the left foot stretches when she walks in 3dxchange.

Any ideas? Is this a bug?  

How can I make Daz custom clothing or can I hire someone on here?

There was a Victoria 4 version of this which might convert better since her shape is more similar to Genesis but I can't find it in the store. They seem to be adding Runtime DNA stuff in batches so it might appear sometime, but it might not, and it might not be in a sale, and then this sale will be over .... the joy of Daz Sales.

I'm fairly sure the tentacle is the EvilInnocence one SKU 2602 which isn't in the sale but is currently only $5.

I think if I could get a 7 figure for $5 I'd probably be pretty excited, but that's just me. lol I only have one 7 figure (Victoria 7) so they are still the "new shinies" to me. :)

Agreed, it's a bargain at that price, but I'd be more excited if there were more accessories for her that I liked. For some reason they've decided that since she is overweight, her characters should be plain, or unattractive, or caracaturish. So since I don't see myself buying other stuff for her, I'm not going to pursue; if she comes right on price I'll want her, but ...  I'd certainly pursue if it were another figure, and I liked the accessories. :)

Surely that texture doesn't use the Victoria 6 UV.

Does this product work for all Genesis 2 Female textures or just textures that use the Victoria 6 UV? 

I noticed in the promo images that it shows a texture for a character for Teen Josie 6 (which I'm pretty sure does not use the V6 UV). So will this product work with other G2F textures? Or only textures made for V6 characters?

I'm trying to get a better handle on how Gen X2 works to transfer morphs and characters, and I'm using tutorials here:

And here:

​Both tutorials, after they have created and transferred the morphs - describe loading a new Genesis character, then going into the Shaping tab, and under Female turning the Victoria 4.2 slider up to 1.
​I have a Victoria 5 and a Victoria 5 Super Model dial in the shaping tab - but no Victoria 4.2 shaping tab.
​I do have Victoria 4.2, all injection morphs, characters... as a stand alone character. Just no "clone shape" dial/slider in the shaping tab.
​Am I supposed to, or is there something else I need to buy that these videos assume I have, but I do not?

Hello, 

Carrara works considerably well on Linux if you decide to not use Genesis figures, as well as you become patient on rendering previews in shader room, this may be system and drivers dependent, but my experience is that cancelling rendering process usually cause a failure of Carrara under wine. 

The main obstacle you may encounter is Rendering, you have to uncheck Texture Spooling in Carrara's preferences for rendering engine to work. Everything else should work pretty well, except dynamic cloth plug-in by Sparrowhawke, last time I tried it it usually hangs on calculating dynamics. Last time I checked, smart content managing system introduced in Carrara 8.5 doesn;t work at all and causes Carrara to get  a fatal error. So if you want to use figures like Victoria or Michael etc. the latest that work are generation 4 figures. But I experimented with this like 6 months ago, things might have changed or not.
Sometimes development versions of Wine introduce some changes that may result in unhappy vertex.cmx file, but last time I encountered this issue was very long time ago. But stable branches usually work very well. Spooling texture on disc tick unmarked, patience with preview windows rendering and you are mostly good to go. 

How about a Stephanie Leonidas / Irisa (Defiance)?

I would LOVE Irathients head morphs for Victoria 4, Michael 3, Freak 3, Luke and Laura 3 and Michael 4.  My best friend plays "Defiance" on his PS3 all of the time and I'd really like to try doing a few renders with those kinds of characters.  (Never seen the show, but the game looks like a lot of fun.)
