  • Bethany 7 not showing at $5?

I think if I could get a 7 figure for $5 I'd probably be pretty excited, but that's just me. lol I only have one 7 figure (Victoria 7) so they are still the "new shinies" to me. :)

  • Gen X2 and Victoria 4.2 dial in Shaping Tab?

I'm trying to get a better handle on how Gen X2 works to transfer morphs and characters, and I'm using tutorials here:

    And here:

Both tutorials, after they have created and transferred the morphs - describe loading a new Genesis character, then going into the Shaping tab, and under Female turning the Victoria 4.2 slider up to 1.
I have a Victoria 5 and a Victoria 5 Super Model dial in the shaping tab - but no Victoria 4.2 shaping tab.
I do have Victoria 4.2, all injection morphs, characters... as a stand alone character. Just no "clone shape" dial/slider in the shaping tab.
Am I supposed to, or is there something else I need to buy that these videos assume I have, but I do not?

  • Carrara and Linux? Is it possible?

    Hello,

Carrara works considerably well on Linux if you decide to not use Genesis figures, as well as you become patient on rendering previews in shader room, this may be system and drivers dependent, but my experience is that cancelling rendering process usually cause a failure of Carrara under wine.

The main obstacle you may encounter is Rendering, you have to uncheck Texture Spooling in Carrara's preferences for rendering engine to work. Everything else should work pretty well, except dynamic cloth plug-in by Sparrowhawke, last time I tried it it usually hangs on calculating dynamics. Last time I checked, smart content managing system introduced in Carrara 8.5 doesn;t work at all and causes Carrara to get  a fatal error. So if you want to use figures like Victoria or Michael etc. the latest that work are generation 4 figures. But I experimented with this like 6 months ago, things might have changed or not.
Sometimes development versions of Wine introduce some changes that may result in unhappy vertex.cmx file, but last time I encountered this issue was very long time ago. But stable branches usually work very well. Spooling texture on disc tick unmarked, patience with preview windows rendering and you are mostly good to go.

How about a Stephanie Leonidas / Irisa (Defiance)?

I would LOVE Irathients head morphs for Victoria 4, Michael 3, Freak 3, Luke and Laura 3 and Michael 4.  My best friend plays "Defiance" on his PS3 all of the time and I'd really like to try doing a few renders with those kinds of characters.  (Never seen the show, but the game looks like a lot of fun.) smiley

  • UPdating my Renderfarm

Sorry for the OT again, but after some digging, I've found the image I've made for the fourth Neverwinter Con, which was celebrating the new NWN 2 - two games, infinite possibilies!

I ran a room during the convention, showing off my "Adventure Gear" supplement, which allowed users to add backpacks and other assorted goodies directly during gameplay. One was a simple backpack item, another was a backpack with a torch and a bow strapped to the back, there was a medieval style bath robe, open in the front, one that overwrote the appearance of the character's arms and made them look like they were carrying a fallen companion... it was really popular putting me as an artist into the NW Vault Hall of Fame! ;) which inevitably landed me a possition with C.R.A.P. and then the CEP. What a fun ride it was.

We had a pack that allowed us to play Firefly (TV Show) RPG before the Serenity RPG (by Margaret Weiss) came out. I ran a game as DM called: "Out in the Black"

We had a Knights of the New Republic conversion for playing Star Wars, complete with Darth Vader, C3PO, R2D2, Battle Droids, Light Sabers, Blasters, Star Ships, plenty of sound effects and music, etc.,

There was (is?) a d20 Modern team, making all of that stuff work, like cars, guns, modern buildings, etc., Another team made PlaneScape, I was part of the Spelljammer team (AD&D 2nd supplement), Prestige Classes gallore and there is just about every monster, creature and class available to D&D, including the many ranges of age-classes of Dragons from wyrmling to Ancient Wyrm - and one fellow even made a Dragon Riding system... we truly were a force to be reckoned with, now that I think about it!

So with all of that history, even though I gladly purchased every upgrade and supplement available on disc as soon as they were officially available, I also bought the whole works over again in DRM-Free form from GOG when that came out. After a certain time, BioWare removed the need to have a disc in the drive to play - basically officially making it DRM-Free anyways... the GOG version allows me to install the whole works without the need for a disc drive (like on my tiny netbook-like laptop, which plays NWN like a dream!) which is super handy!

All of that jazz is what eventually led me to Carrara. This image was done in Poser with Victoria 3, I think, as Rosie whom, as a matter of fact, defeats the Blue Dragon she faces here! ;)

This image helped me to realize that I really want to animate - to make fantasy movies - simply because there really weren't hardly any to choose from then. My have the times changed since... but it doesn't change my need to create them anyways!

So I guess that brings us full circle to my interest in you getting my render nodes working for me before you send them to me! :) (hint hint!) LOL

  • Can you rename your characters to help editing scenes?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like keeping up with the generic (n) names. It makes putting a series together when the characters are simply moved for the next stage.

I'm sticking with three characters at the moment as rendering takes longer for each additional one.

I always add the generation to the name (i.e. Judy G2) just to make it easier to keep track of things.

That's a good idea, too for helping keep up with clothing, etc. Especially since I have Victoria 6 and 7...even though I often name them differently in any series I may be making.

  • Learning Carrara and Need some Help?

The Dragonlord outfit that I have is designed for Genesis, not Genesis 2.  To use with Genesis 2, I first used Studio to convert the items for use with Genesis 2 and then used the "save as" preset feature.  I then opened the preset in Carrara.  The process is described in the thread linked in the above post.  I noticed that the dragonlord outfit when applied to Victoria 6 does not meet the Daz forum TOS so I included a tube top.  Also, it is a multilayered outfit so you may have to adjust for a tunic overlapping a harness or similar issue.

  • Learning Carrara and Need some Help?

Here is a thread that is focused on using genesis and genesis 2 content in Carrara. It includes the (very) good and the bad.   It also includes autofit.

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/45361/best-practices-using-genesis-and-genesis-2-content-in-carrara/p1

When I use a human Daz figure, I very often use genesis 2.  Using Studio, I have converted more than 100 items for Victoria 3 and Victoria 4 for use with G2F in Carrara.  Similarly, I have used Studio to convert M3, M4, and David 3 content for use with G2M in Carrara.  Even more amazing to me, I have used Poser's wardrobe wizard to convert items made for Poser 7's male (the occupations and world leader series) for use with Michael 4 and then used Studio to convert the result for use with G2M.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes, you can use Daz content designed for V4 and M4 for use with G2F and G2M in Carrara.

Anybody know what Lorin is wearing in this pic?  I've been looking for something simple like this for Elven characters for the longest, and now it pops up out of nowhere.

That's a good question. It's a cool outfit. I looked but could couldn't find the outfit (I did find the jewelry though).

  • Michael and Friends Appreciation Association [Lots of images, please.]

Just found my gallery and added a few pix, including my latest. "Demon Dreams". Story to go with:

DEMON DREAMS #1: "You Sexy Devil, You!"

It was a sweet gig. Sure, the atmosphere was a little different -- okay, a *lot* different -- than what he was used to and so was the crowd. The stage, well. Did they really believe his home looked like that? And what was up with all those oddly carved gourds all over the place? Humans sure were funny.

But the pay was good and so were the tips, though he really didn't need money. He had a place of his own, small but tidy and in a good part of town. The occasional visits from his sister and a couple of fat, sassy cats to keep him company. Anything else he might have wanted he could just conjure up. Except food, *real* food. That he could only find in a place like this, where the humans were practically throwing it away every night like the skins of those long yellow fruits they called bananas. So every night he prettied himself up -- he was rather plain by his own people's standards -- and danced for his dinner at the Club Diablo.

He strutted and prowled like a hunting feline. One in search of a mate, not prey. It never failed to get the audience's attention and they showed their appreciation by showering him with money and pheromones. He never did more than flirt but that was enough to garner the energy he needed simply to survive and which these young humans had in excess. His performance gave them pleasure and they in turn gave him sustenance while seeking their own pleasure, either by themselves or with companions. Everyone got what they wanted out of it and everyone went home happy.

Except for a couple of prune-faced old farts lurking about in the shadows outside the club, shaking their fists and hurling nasty insults even as they leered at him and the other dancers. All the while giving off the kind of vibes that if he were human would have made him lose his lunch. Prudes. Honest to goodness, holier than thou, butter-wouldn't-melt-in-their-mouths hypocrites, that's what they were. And as his Uncle Belial often said, there ain't NO pleasing any of that bunch.

    **************

    Production Notes:

Made on a Daz Michael 4 modded to use V4 maps & morphs, the character is customized up the ying-yang and I have no idea exactly which packs I threw in there to make the body. I do know his face is a blend of two Victoria 4 characters with some additional help from CDI Morpheus. I took HeRaZa's M4 Christian Skin into photoshop and lightened it, then ran it thru Texture Converter 2. Borrowed the eyes from another set because they suited him better, then got him properly kitted out when he told me he wanted to go dancing. Luckily this time he had no need to borrow Vicky's boots. The background I got from a freebie pack labelled jezyhalloween2008, if they're still around the Poserverse I'd like to say "thanks, very cool". Lights are from 7 Deadly Sins Bundle at Rendo. I seem to be using those a lot lately, they're very easy to work with and even I can't screw 'em up ... much.

Rendered in PoserPro 2014, postworked to hell and back in Photoshop CS2. Happy Halloween!

I did a Google image search and found the original gallery image: http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/118146/

The character is FWSA Finley HD which interestingly doesn't have the dimples - I suspect it's an expression pose or morph that's adding them.

  • No one asked me - Diomede screenshots on whatever - Warning AI Discussion OK

First, the Aviator Outfit is for V4 but I want to use genesis 2 female.  The following thread includes more detail on the process.

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/45361/best-practices-using-genesis-and-genesis-2-content-in-carrara/p1

However, one way to do it can be summarized as follows. (this uses the Daz transfer utility).  This assumes that you own any needed "clones" that allow the items to be converted.  http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female

    - to convert, open Daz Studio and load a base genesis 2 female

    - find the V4 clothing item in your content libraries.  Click and drag to the G2F.  Studio will say it is wrong and prompt you to convert.  Tell Studio the item was created for V4 (or whatever)

    - Studio will convert the item for use for G2F.

    - Select the G2F in the scene tab and use FILE : SAVE AS : WEARABLE PRESET  and save the file to a location of your choice.  I gather all of my V4 to G2F content in one place.  Some people prefer to save as a support asset rather than a wearable.

    - Repeat for each item to be used.

    - Close studio.

  • Mesopotamian King for G3M and Other Products

Hello, everyone. I started using DAZ Studio in the summer of 2015, and this is the first time I’ve ever posted anything in DAZ’s forums. I’ve just recently discovered that DAZ Studio has a product suggestions page. Below is a list of fourteen product suggestions I’ve developed over the past year after I’ve purchased products and found they didn’t work the way I wanted them to or after I failed to find other products I’ve wanted to purchase. In these suggestions, I’ll give a title to each product and I’ll explain why I’m suggesting that product.

Mesopotamian King for Genesis 3 Male

Out of all the products I’ll suggest, this product is the one I would like to see the most. I plan to do a lot of renders of Bible scenes and ancient civilizations. DAZ has many excellent Greek, Persian, Indian, and Egyptian products. But, at least on DAZ Studio’s website, I can’t find any products inspired by ancient Mesopotamia. This would include the cultures of ancient Babylonia, Assyria, Sumeria, and others. Meshbox Design has created sets and props for biblical and ancient Mesopotamian scenes, such as their Lachish: Bible City set and their Tower of Babel prop. HiveWire has a large Mesopotamia-themed set that’s compatible with DAZ Studio 2.3+, called Hanging Gardens of Nimrud. Renderosity also has old Poser sets inspired by ancient Near Eastern structures from Ian M. Palmer. But I’ve never come across any Mesopotamian outfits on any 3D websites. I’d like to suggest that DAZ artists create an outfit for a Mesopotamian king, especially the distinctive conical crown, similar to the ones in these images below from the illustrator Roger Payne:

    Image One

    https://bookpalace.com/acatalog/info-PayneBabylonZigLL.html

    Image Two

    https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/36/24/cd/3624cd71a345cac405dfbc33808723ca.jpg

I’ve considered using Shiny SheetZ products for this type of costume, since those sheets look somewhat similar to this type of outfit. But the product I’m suggesting would look more like the costume I want. It would be great if this product came in several different textures.

Mesopotamian Queen for Genesis 3 Female

In each of the images above and below there are women wearing distinctive Mesopotamian clothing. I’d like to suggest a royal outfit, made for G3F, similar to the costumes in the images above or below or any image of regal Mesopotamian female clothing. I’ve considered using Shiny SheetZ products for this type of costume as well, since they look somewhat similar to this type of dress. But the product I’m suggesting would look more like the dress I want. This product could complement the Mesopotamian outfit for G3M. It would be great if this product came in several different textures as well.

    Atlantida Temple Iray Add-On

The Atlantida Temple product is a beautiful sci-fi structure that I want to use in my renders at some point in the future. The exterior of the temple renders well in Iray, but when I attempt to render the interior, it’s rather dark. I believe this is because it wasn’t made with Iray materials. I tend to render most of my images with DAZ’s Iray render engine, since it seems to be the easiest render engine for me to use and quickly gives me extremely realistic results. I also have Reality’s Luxrender engine, but I haven’t mastered it yet. I’ve tried to add a light source to the temple’s interior, but lighting is probably the most difficult aspect of 3D rendering for me learn. I’m not getting satisfying results. DAZ Studio has created Iray versions of products like the GIS and Future Series. Thus, I would like to suggest that DAZ artists do the same thing for the Atlantida Temple, and perhaps all the Atlantida products.

Dynamic Tunics and Sashes for Genesis 3 Male and Genesis 3 Female

These versatile outfits were first created for Michael 4 and Victoria 4. DAZ artists created a new version of this product for G2M, G2F, and Genesis. I would like to see a version of this product for G3M and G3F.

Egyptian Knight for Genesis 3 Male

Since I plan to do renders of ancient civilizations, having a set of ancient Mesopotamian armor would help me create battle scenes. Yet the only armor DAZ has available on their website that’s closest to what ancient Mesopotamian soldiers wore is the Egyptian Knight for David 3. I purchased this product, but since it’s such an old product it doesn’t look too good when I render it in Iray, especially in an HDRI environment. I would love to see a newer version of this product for G3M. And just like the older version, I would also like for it to come in multiple textures.

    Iray Animal Skin Shaders

I would like to change the shaders of some of the 3D clothing I own to animal skins textures, and I want to use Iray shaders. DAZ has products like Furify: Fur Shaders, Leather and Fur Iray Shaders, and Animal Things. I purchased Leather and Fur Shaders, but they seem to be intended for things like toy animals and such. What I would like is a set of Iray shaders similar to the textures of Jungle Goddess for G3F, Jungle Girl for G2F, or Renderosity’s Storyteller for Jungle Girl.

    Bast for Genesis 3 Female

This is an interesting Egyptian outfit for G3F, but it’s only available on RuntimeDNA’s website. I tried to create a RuntimeDNA account just to buy this product but, as some might have experienced themselves, I was sent straight to DAZ’s website. I’ve seen several products advertised with this outfit, such as the new Akasha for G3F, EgpytV4, and PS-Tia. I’ve also seen it in renders users have posted in the galleries. Since RuntimeDNA has merged with DAZ, DAZ may already be planning to offer this outfit. But I just wanted to make my product suggestion known.

    Sun Hall Iray Add-On

This is another beautiful sci-fi set that I’d like to use in some of my renders. But just as the Atlantida Temple prop, when I try to render the interior of this product in Iray, it’s rather dark. In fact, it’s almost pitch black. I would like to suggest an Iray version of this product.

Moroccan Dreams for Genesis 3 Male

The generation 4 version of this product can be fitted to G2M and G3M, but the outfit distorts when you pose the figure. I would like to suggest a new version of this for G3M.

Moroccan Dreams for Genesis 3 Female

DAZ has several Persian/Arab themed products for belly dancers, but this is one of the few products I could find for what seems to be an aristocratic Persian/Arab woman. This product can be fitted to G2F and G3F, but, just like previous product, it distorts if you pose the figure. I would like to suggest an new version of this for G3F.

    Dinosaur Saddle and/or Battle Armor

This is a product I would like to have for fantasy renders I want to create. The only product DAZ already has that’s similar to this is Tawhawk. Even though I’m not sure if this type of product can be made, I would like to see a product like this that can be fitted to dinosaurs like the saddles and armor that can be fitted to DAZ Horse 2 and DAZ Big Cat 2.

    DAZ Horse 3

Just as DAZ artists have created a new elephant product and a new Iray version of Tyrannosaurus Rex, I would like to suggest a new Iray version of DAZ’s horse.

    DAZ Big Cat 3

A big problem I’m having with DAZ’s Big Cat 2 product is that when I render it in Iray the fur is far too bright. The cat's eyes are black as well. When I render it in Reality it looks fine. Since I prefer to use Iray, I would like to suggest a new Iray version of DAZ’s big cat.

    Babylon Set for Iray

As I mentioned above, HiveWire offers a Mesopotamia-themed set called Hanging Gardens of Nimrud. But it would be great, in fact stunning, to see a set like this in Iray. Below are examples of what I’m talking about.
