Well here is the text instructions I made for DAZ 3D to replicate the still open bug I reported. My laptop now has 16GB RAM rather than 8GB RAM. I am now running DAZ Studio 4.9.2.70.

So I re-tested the DAZ Studio crash bug as I wrote in the instructions to them to retest with the latest version of DAZ Studio release & I get no crash bug. Are they expecting me to come back and test their bug fixes without notifying me they have fixed the bug? The bug is still marked as open. I guess I could initiate the closing of the bug since it is now fixed.

I do have a new bug but it is related to the latest DAZ Studio latest Beta and I'm not scene if scene files are backward compatible now with the iRay Rendering changes they've made.

OK, I've turned off the Customer Improvement Program and reduced the number of steps needed to replicate the bug.

The bug happens with both Optiplex checked & unchecked so it must be something else.

0. Start DAZ Studio 4.9.1.30
1. Load Brooke
2. Dial to 0% Victoria 7's Body
3. Dial to 100% the Girl 7's Body
4. Dial to 100% the Girl 7
5. Load the Captain Cupcake Jacket on Brooke that looks like Girl 7
5. a. (Autofit - Genesis 2 Female - Shirt)
6. Load the Captain Cupcake Skirt on Brooke that looks like Girl 7
6. a. (Autofit - Genesis 2 Female - Pants)
7. DAZ Studio Crashes

As I said both Optiplex & the Customer Improvement checkboxes are unchecked and also if I load the original Girl 7, this doesn't happen. It seems related to starting with Brooke.

By the way, I just tested this with Victoria 7 and the same thing happens. I dial out Victoria 7's body, dial in Girl 7's body and dial in Girl 7 and then the 2nd article of clothing I try to put on the character causes DAZ Studio to crash. Other articles of clothing from the Callie 6 Pro Bundle will also cause this crash.

That's a bit out of date.

For most of the Daz-made characters and a handful of others, there's a simple way to tell: look at the number after the name.

Victoria 5, Michael 5, and all the other fives are for the original Genesis.

Victoria 6 and all the other female sixes are for Genesis 2 Female; Michael 6 etc are for Genesis 2 Male.

Victoria 7 and all the other female sevens are for Genesis 3 Female; Michael 7 etc are for Genesis 3 Male.

Lower numbers are older than the Genesis line, and are not recommended these days unless you have a particular reason for using them.

For the non-numbered characters, you'll just have to check the product page to see which figure they're for.

Any content made for one of the Genesis figures should work reasonably well with all the characters for that figure, though it will work best for the ones it has custom morphs for - these are generally listed in the product description.

The closest I've seen to an HD morph for the Genesis 3 Female is the Brooklyn HD character. It is a DAZ Original I think and doesn't require Victoria 7 or any of the other characters except Genesis 3 Female. However, I filed a bug in March or April regarding Victoria 7, Brooklyn HD 7, and Girl 7 crashing DAZ Studio 4.9 when one tries to fit Genesis 2 Female clothing to them that hasn't been resolved yet. I'm not sure which character alone or what combination of installed characters is causing that but it doesn't happen with fitting Genesis 2 Male clothing to Genesis 3 Male characters.

Personally, I feel, for the HD effects I've tried and when they are dialed all the way in, they are 'too much' and make the character look unrealistic and often look anatomically incorrect.

I was wondering about these things and how they work.  They seem to be for individual characters ( Victoria, Lilith, Gia etc).  So can you get an HD effect if you use it with a character based on the base characters that are not already HD? (Hye for Mei Lin 7, Briley for Gia 7,or CC Reagan for Rune 7) or are they just for the base characters like Gia, Lilith, Victoria, The Girl so on. If so then are there HD options for the Genesis 3 base? 

In case you hadn't noticed, FWSA Piper has a variety of eyebrow colors. ($8.09 with banner and a debut/new)  And those of you who are PC+ and have the orange banner, it's MULTIPLE USE for today. You have about two hours left to shop.

Now however, by Legacy to G3F I mean a product for using textures from the Victoria 4 to Genesis 3 Female similar to the Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: Michael 4 - i-e- Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: Victoria 4 is what I'd guess you'd call it.

The V4 product (as well as one for G2F) is over at Rendo.  It was released there before I became a PA here at Daz.

Thanks Cayman Studios. Something I have as a child mesh or something was causing problems with the selection of all your Legacy UV child meshes of the G3M character. Now it works. Thanks.

Just checking out some hair- and I opened studio 4.8 by mistake instead of 4.9 (Iray renders a bit differently.)  So just look at the character morphs, not the skin, as I think she may be a bit "flatter." This is out of the box (in 4.8) and she needs some gloss/adjustments in 4.8.

This is Arianna for Karen 7 wearing Anny Hair  (Gen3F, Gen2F, Vict 4)  I  couldn't find in Anny Hair a movement option to get the really sticking out piece brought in closer to the head, I (see fourth image below)  even went in to Scene>(the hair) and broke it down.) Wearing Cailin Dress. (available in a bundle too, with the character.)  The second outfit was Summer Star Outfit (Gen3)

 I also had to turn smoothing way up (30) as I wanted to smooth the strands in the back-  the ones at the top. I just personally don't like them at all.  The best way I would put it is the other strands are more razor sharp, and those are a bit too wide and blobby. But 30 is too high, you can see (I beieve it is) the skull cap and the hair thinned too much. So experiment and see what the sweet spot is, I remember doing 10 and it didn't do much.The hair is rather cute from the front, with just slight  smoothing to ease the crinkles. 

I think the promos make her seem a bit cartoony, she's actually quite nice. Good teeth too!

Seeing this on Anny hair reminds me of an accidental discovery I made using it with Zev0's Fit Control.  It has probably been noted elsewhere, but I've found it's ability to modeify hair useful.  The real of Anny hair is overly high for my taste and I was looking for a control to see if I could reduce it.  One existed and  it did exactly what I wanted. Later I was trying the same thing on a figure where I had not applied fit Control to deal with clothing.  The morph was gone. Applying Fit Control to the character with just hair brought it and several others ranging from useful to useless.

So I really really like Victoria 2/Roxanne character. I thought since I was rebuilding my content library I would work on getting most of her stuff put back. Her outfit is a combination of the Wedding dress, the Swashbuckler and the Roma dress. With the use of the push modifier and the smoothing modifier I was able to make the kit bash work. That is one of the things I love and hate about DAZ Studio 4+. I do use the smoother and sub-d on Roxanne as well. You may lose some of the small details that Capsces has created but the mesh looks much better after doing these two things. Rendered in DAZ Studio 4.8 with IRay. Post work was to remove poke through and add signature.

Hi relatively new to DAZ. I have noticed that there is zillions of content out there... and many characters. How does all this fit together? It seems chaotic and overwhelming to me at this time. Has anyone made a chart that helps new users understand which characters are which version of Genesis? Ex: Michael, Victoria, etc. Which character content compatibility aspects are built into Daz for the characters and what are the extra packages to buy to help content fit more than one character?

Now she doesn't look very menacing...um...excedpt for that shrunken head in the glass.  Is that supposed to be a witch's Mint Julep?
