When transferring V3 to G1 or G2, you can select between "Victoria 3" and "Victoria 3 Clone" shapes. For G3, only the "Victoria 3 Clone" shape is supported, so you need to select this option under "Shape".

  • Post Your Renders - Happy New Year yall

With the current Daz3d give-aways going on, I was reminded of a really cool game character as I was perusing the items in the HUGE list of goods.

If anyone has ever played Dragon Age: Origins, they'll know who Morrigan is. A powerful magic user - a Witch of the Wilds

My Rosie character is powerful in the ways of magic as well, so I thought it might be nice to create a version of Morrigan's attire for my Rosie character.

At first I saw the Grecian Goddess outfit for Genesis 2 Female. Very nice. Just needs a few other clothing items added to complete the outfit. By itself it's a bit too revealing. Not for me, mind you, but for the most part I'd like people to be able to watch my movies without hiding them from family members.

So I got the Grecian Goddess for my first freebie item and then continued to check through the rest of that long list of products, because there was a hunt that more was to be given away the next day.

In that search I've found a really cool product for V4 called Eve Clothing. It looks an awful lot like Morrigan's attire.

I guess I'm not too Gung Ho to try and make it look exact, but the combination usd in creating Morrigan's look really works, I think.

Here's my first attempt with my V4 version of Rosie

And below is the new one I've made for my Genesis 2 Female version of Rosie, this being in a younger-years flaskback. I really like the Genesis 2 Female version, which uses a little Victoria 6, Ysabeau 6 (for her younger version) and a touch of Girl 6 and uses Girl 6 maps. I'll deepen the red fabric as I go. She still needs more accessories.

    For Paint.NET: http://www.getpaint.net/index.html

And this is a step-by-step for installing plugins: http://www.boltbait.com/pdn/InstallingEffects.asp

There is a gazillion different plugins for PdN, loads are very useful. I think I do 95% of non-HDR image editing in it. It loads much faster than GIMP on my system, if anything.

Thanks, I will look into that.

...those characters with baked-in shadow, they are for G3F not V4?! Good grief.

Yea, and I may have just 'endorsed' a few others unwittingly. I just looked at a scene that I need to find the post for.   Akimitsu and Spencer are two other figures I'm guilty of using Paloma's eyes on (I don't remember if I pointed that out or not in former posts). I would really like to know just how Iray promos can be made to hide such eye-baking without photoshoping the render, or can you turn off casting shadows on Iray lights, lol.

Akimitsu has some really nice ears, and I do like the eyebrows... And fortunately she dose have some maps for "Down there" unlike Spencer. Well worth getting and using some one else's eyes on.

There has been an "Undocumented update" for Spencer lingering in DIM for around a week now, I suppose I should check that out. What there is of Spencer does work, so I'm not that eager to break something, lol.

LY Jolie, 2016-12-17 - default render subD level of LY Jolie Iray reduced to reasonable value.  Thank You!   I'm poor and only have 3.5GB to work with after drivers (Damn you NVIDIA for skimping on memory), lol.

Nora and Tresne also pored into the computer, I'll look at them now. errr... I don't think "Cornea bulge" will fix that.

Tresne has some eye location issues, and the other has 'minimal' maps to work with. I will inject after such devastating news, that Agnes and Enya are looking very good (making mats now).

  • Black Is Beautiful II

Working on a character with skin that is mix of Monique 7 mats, Victoria 7 mats, and the base G3F mats.

I think the shader might need some tweaking though. Any suggestions on decent Iray skin shaders for darker skin characters?

Nice characters Diva. I use this http://www.daz3d.com/iray-smart-converter-and-advanced-skin-managers-for-genesis-3.  But sometimes I just use a particular skin then tweek the base color and the translucency color/weight.  Look at the settings for a character you like and try and use those as a guide.  I often turn white/tan skin into black skin by fooling with those same settings.

Thank you! :) That's on my wish list and hopefully it will go on sale soon.

I've only been doing 3D art for about 8 or 9 months and still haven't gotten a handle on Iray settings for darker skin characters - the shaders I've often used on other characters just make the darker skin characters look waxy or something. I'm going to do some studying and see if I can figure out some better settings. Thanks for the advice. :)

    From scratch ...

The base plugin, includes support for the generation 4 Poser figures (Victoria 4, Michael 4, and Kids 4) as well as for Genesis (version 1):

    http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2

Addon for the old Generation 3 - as you want all, there is a bundle for transferring morphs for Victoria 3, Michael 3, Stephanie 3 Petite, David 3, The Freak 3, Aiko 3, and Hiro 3 to Genesis

    http://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-bundle

As you mentioned subtract Aiko and Hiro - you can buy single addons for Generation 3:

    http://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-for-s3-d3-and-f3

    and

    http://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-for-v3-and-m3

but those two would give you nearly the same price (11.90 instead of 11.95) for the bundle. If you can do without morphs for Stephanie3, David3 and Freak3, you can buy only the addon for V3 and M3.

To transfer morphs to Genesis 2, you need

    http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2

and to Genesis 3, this one:

    http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-3

(this Genesis 3 addon needs the Genesis 2 addon)

Neither will transfer HD morphs, as that technology is guarded by Daz3d.

  • Do shaders for characters stack up?

The HD morphs for V7 and any characters built on her should be fine together.

The V7 HD morphs are going to be mostly fine on any 'base' G3F characters.

The other various '7' characters  that have HD morphs will be similar to V7, where the HD details will line up well with characters made for that particular '7',  But for some of them ceratain ones won't work too well on the base G3F (the alignment with be off and things like that).

But mixing HD morphs from say Sunny, Eva and Victoria could end up with unpredictable results. If they are different morphs on different parts of the body...leg morphs from one, hand/arms from another and face morphs from the third, you would probably have a better chance of them mixing than trying to use a single eye area morph from one, lip details from another and cheeks from the third.

Other than for characters based on a particular 'base character', there isn't a set 'this will work' rule.  Rather it's a matter of seeing what does work for you by actually mixing them and seeing the outcome.

    So the morphs stack up?

If by stack up you mean can you apply HD morhps from multiple characters at the same time, yes you can. They are no different than any other morphs in that way. The results may be pleasing to you or not. For example, if luck is bad then one HD morph might have a big wrinkle right where the other one has a great crease and they cancel each other out. Or they might add in some other spots and make giant wrinkles.  It will come down to experimentation to see what you like, just like making any character using morphs. Tweak, test, tweak again, repeat until happy!

By the way do female hd morphs work in male hd morphs if they are both genesis 3? how about if they are not in the same generation? :)

    No...they aren't cross generational.

And I'm not sure about them working cross gender...as there are differences in the meshes and they are tied to the mesh.

Oh alright, thank you for the replies! :)

Alright, today's task is to plug in a new keyboard without rubbed off letters so I can see what keys I'm pressing, and to look threw a short list of alt mats to pack up (and make duf icons for).

Depending on the number of eye and makeup options, I may not get all of them done today.

Looks like DES Grace , DES Kaia and LY Jessenia does not have shadow-baked eyes, I therefor will make some complementary presets for them. LY Hanny is going to be a tad more involved with all the other options.

P3D Dewi and P3D Luna has shadow-baked eye maps, so I will NOT be wasting my time making eye presets for them. Evil admission, I've been using FWSA Paloma's eye maps on Dewi with some renders, it's bad, lol.

Raiya Kelly is another good eye-map figure , that's six figures for eye maps. Jolina is the other Raiya figure I have floating around here somewhere that I've yet to do anything with.

I may change that RS folder to something else as Summer from the V7 Pro bundle has significant problems that have Never Been Addressed. Adiene Silver Akimitsu is a very nice figure, especially the eyebrows and ears. Also Lindsey for Sunny 7 is another one that works quite well, and ADSI Glimmer has incredible eyes. So I'm sure Silver knows how to make figures, I'm guessing Summer is another victim of the rapidly evolving shape of G3F from the development days. I'll need to think about that folder a bit more.
