  • HeadShop 13 auto hides head and torso...

    Unfortunately,

you need to load a new figure after each HeadShop session. The reason is complicated, but reloading works.

  • HeadShop 13: I wasn't expecting perfection but....really?

For what it's worth, I think the HS + youth morph, turned out very nicely.

Various morph packs also include eye, lips, etc morphs which can help tweak the shapes.

For textures, certainly one can use from the pool of purchases made - and/or pick up one of the resource skin sets [when on sale like maybe next month] - and make some skin sets matching with the face(s) from HS. Hues can be adjusted in image editors. Some come with a good starter for dark/medium/light skins.

Yes, that was my plan. :)

I still have the issue that after HeadShop 13 has finished, the head, torso and all their sub parts are hidden and have to be made visible again one by one.

  • HeadShop 13: I wasn't expecting perfection but....really?

I re-ran the original image through HeadShop 13 again and following the advice in Chapter 3 of the manual, I applied the Growing-Up Youth morph (by Zev0) at 37.5%. For comparison I Photoshopped the hair of the original image on to the HeadShop 13 morphed G8f render. I also rerendered using Arella Texture (by SASE) as I was not happy with the HeadShop 13 texture. I also removed the HeadShop 13 morph and rerendered with just the Youth morph for comparison. See image attached.

The general shape of the HeadShop 13 morph is quite similar to the original image once the Youth morph is applied. The Youth morph alone gives a longer head shape than the original picture. The texture is, of course, a big factor in making the rendered image look similar to the original image and I would have to try to find a texture more similar to the original. The HeadShop 13 morph give a close approximation for the nose and lips but some work will be necessary for the eyes. I think the Asian look of the original is not picked up so well by HeadShop 13. Fortunately, I can apply other face morphs to correct the eyes.

If there are other suggestions, please feel free to comment.

Comment 1: Do not expect a child photo to look like a child when applied to a woman's head. Solution: apply "Growing Up" morph in Studio to make the head about 10 year old. The HeadShop Tutorial (under the Help menu) explains this process in Chapter 3, Advanced Operations.

    Good luck!

Thank you for your reply. Seldom do product authors reply so fast, if at all.

The image is indeed not a photograph but an AI generated image. As to the age, it is supposed to be early teen; I'm exploring faces for a story character.

I saw that one of your promo pics showed a child photo and the generated morph. That looked quite good, so I thought I would give it a go. I read in the manual that I must use G8f as the base figure and not a modified figure. I will take your advice and check out the Advanced section of the manual and let you know how it turns out.

    Thanks again.

This is quite a clear article on how to change the various 'temp' locations in Windows itself:

(for the nervous... it's a very simple and safe procedure, no registry editing involved, no risk of death!)

Have you changed Studio's temp location? The one found in preferences.

I have mine all seperated out and on my fastest drive, see attached.

Oh golly, is that what this is, the temp folder, ... okay I will change this. I had changed it a long ago but had to revert to the default for Headshop. As I no longer have Headshop on board, will certainly change the temp back to the D drive. Thank you :-)

The image in the OP is not a photo, nor likely intended to be a child, but rather a stylized painting.

    1. I'm not with either company. Just another customer although not of this HS13.

On other variations of HeadShop there was a forehead guide on the initial image with all the dots on it. Putting that higher or lower can affect the shape of the head. It still won't be 100% perfect.

  • HeadShop 13: I wasn't expecting perfection but....really?

Just bought HeadShop 13 and tried it out on an "easy" image; i.e. no head rotation, mouth essentially closed. I wasn't expecting perfection, but this isn't even close!

I can only assume that I'm doing something wrong.

The source pic (left, below) is 1600x1600 pixels, so should be plenty large enough.

HeadShop places autodots on the source image in all the right places to identify eyes, nose, mouth etc. The image on the right of the HeadShop screen looked vaugely (very vaugely) like the source picture so I made no further adjustments or changes and exported the morph on to G8f.

The rendered result isn't even vaugely similar to the source image. I expected that at least the general head shape would be similar, but as you can see, it is not.

What am I doing wrong? Would anyone from DAZ or Abalone LLC care to comment?

Thanks Catherine, that worked for me. I'm amazed that such a simple issue is not done automatically by HeadShop.

  • HeadShop 13 auto hides head and torso...

I just started working with HeadShop 13 and the first face I did, HeadShop auto hid the head and torso (and all the sub-parts of both) of the Genesis 8 female character and the G8f eyelashes (and all of its sub-parts).

Is there a way to stop it doing this?

  • HeadShop OneClick Submitted to DAZ - Best in Class! (Commercial)

Hey, I encountered a bug while using headshop 13 and I hope somebody can help. So I load Daz Studio, start Headshop, drop a Photo and let headshop do its thing. Then I immediatly press "Export", which seems to be successful.

But then in DAZ Studio I get the following message and the transfer obviously did not work.

I found the files created by Headshop in the folder
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\FaceShop\fs\SmoothedModelTextures

In another comment I found someone suggested, that the DAZ Library is in the wrong folder, but the "correct" folder was not mentioned.

    Thanks for any tip.

The BOSS Pro Light Set has a pretty detailed PDF that covers general topics on lighting. I should refer to that more often. The asset converter products from RSSY have PDFs that explain the process quite well. The Headshop PDFs also do a good job.

Take the BOSS light set, throw some props in there and instant portrait studio!

I completely forgot about how useful that one was! Definitely one I need to look back on as it was the first light set I think I bought on Daz and it was really helpful then but some of it just flew by I was trying to remember all the stuff I was learning about Daz. Thank you for the reminder to look back at that one :)

  • Face Transfer - Custom 'base' textures?

    credford said:

So I tried the steps in the tutorial and I'm having the exact same issue as the OP. I replaced all the original G8 textures with my own textures but Face Transfer is still using the original G8 textures somehow. I have no idea where it is getting them.

Also, just like the OP, newly created G8 models are using my textures, not the original G8 textures. But Face Transfer either has the old textures hard-coded or is pulling them from some other folder.

argh,,, change the textures after you create the facetranfer morph. if you use a picture in face transfer that has hair over the face that will be part of what facetransfer uses ... same for a black and white image
    ---
I can't show you what the facetransfer skin looked like because I replaced it.
first shot is the image I did the face transfer from ... it was created in a game with third party public domain morphs and skins and then taken as a screenshot .. (not bad for a 1/60 of a sec render, heh)
second image shows the fastransfer face but the character after creation with facetranfer had another skin in this case 3du gayle characters skin.
    ---
third picture shows two characters done with headshop ... but same issue obviously the face creation process was for shape not the skin.

  • Eyelashes not lining up with eyes on Face Transfer characters.

Well with Headshop as I recall, one has to check the morph that one is making to be sure that the "auto-follow" is selected. Remove the eyelashes, check the face morph that auto-follow is selected, then try applying a fresh set of eyelashes.

face transfer.... face gen ... headshop aka faceshop.
when you say face transfer are you talking about face transfer the program or transfering a face from facegen?
    ===|
I've used both face transfer and head shop and either create a new skin in skin builder or just copy/paste a skin from a compataible character.
    ---
could you acccomplish what you want by creating a character in face gen ... and then adding the custom skin you have on an existing character?

This older thread was resurrected to ask for my tutorial for the Face Transfer plugin. It does not cover Headshop or Facegen.

"Hi, i wonder if there is a way to change 'the base' textures for my Face Transfer attempts?
I mean using custom genesis 8 textures to blend the face and color hue-brightness to the body on them, instead of G8F base. I know FaceGen can do that."
    ---
they switched from face transfer to facegen..
And what I thought I saw was he wanted to have face transfer produce skins that he could use...or something like that.

And I thought that was a tad hopeful from programs that are basically for copying a face shape from a photograph..
and was wondering if they missed they can do the face transfer and the place the custom textures on that body?
heck most of mine have been from b&w pictures. so just making a skin or transfering in to the face transfer body is necessary,.
