The entry is "What Goes Up" by Perfect Time To Panic Productions. A couple of dozen Houston teams entered, two were animations (I think). Our five minute animation was done in Carrara and Vue. I will post the full video after the winners are announced (by the rules).
All the best with your entry. You put some effort in it. Very nice clip.

Thanks. Some of it was the result of exploring VUE's "Animation Wizard" which allows easy animation of various vehicles, in this case flying vehicles. I used to think it was not very helpful, but it really can be.

Search for DartanBeck's posts on here and you get lots of examples of what it can do

Thanks for the answer, although I already (somewhat) know what it can do, I was just asking if there is something better that that. I don't mind paying more for something better - I have little to none experience in animation, hence I don't know the market for all the good stuff :)
Unfortunately, the "something better" in this case is using basically anything besides DS to animate. I'm an evangelist for Cascadeur, which can export animations to DS (although I believe that's now only available through a subscription plan rather than being part of the free tier). Blender and Houdini are both free to use and have incredibly powerful animation tools (although, again, the free Apprentice tier of Houdini can't export FBX). I haven't used Carrara, but that's incredibly affordable and is a much more fully-featured program than DS.
Power Water Plus [questionable product announcement]The makers of Power Water are pleased to introduce the latest product, Power Water Plus. The Power Water series is the best selling brand of all insect-based health affecting beverages. The new Power Water Plus contains up to 50% more moth while still retaining the flavor you love from Power Water Classic. Infused with three new species, Power Water Plus now has more genetic diversity than any other insect based beverage.

Women drink Power Water Plus. Most of them did not die.

Power Water Plus can affect your health. So can jumping off a cliff.

Drinking Power Water Plus is legal in some municipalities. Always drink responsibly, and in accordance with your local statutes and regulations. It will get you drunk and kill you.

Moth based beverages have less moving parts than spider based beverages and are less sticky.

Fully compatible with Genesis 10 and Carrara 9. May require a plugin or two.
Buy a whole lot of it.
This is your own fault.
Plant FactoryHansmar - nice examples. How about the foliage, are the leaves true meshes like in Arbaro, ngPlant, Carrara and Bryce, or are they just squares with a material that cuts out the leaf by transparency, like Xfrog or Ivy Generator?

Oh Stezza... you always make me smile with your artwork...
Likewise

Carrara Pro 8.5 appeared in my LD during last week-end big sale and your renders are one of the reasons I bought it (the other is the price was so low that even if I never use Carrara, it was worth it for a couple of outfits included in Victoria 5 and Michael 5 respectives Pro Bundles).
sweet, I hope you'll be able to knock out a render or two or maybe some modelling

lot's of stuff has been taken out of the Daz Store for Carrara but don't be daunted.... render away....

@Artini @RexRed Meaning no disrespect to Alberto, but my take on products like this are that, regardless of how well they work, you're generally better served using a program that natively contains these features. Every program with modeling capabilities (Blender, Hexagon, Carrara, Maya, Houdini...) has the ability to do boolean operations, and are not constrained by DS's limitations, so you have more flexibility and control, and generally much faster performance.
Yes, they can, but using distinct methods, and each method has its advantages and disadvantages (I saw them many times). OpenVDB method, at least is very flexible and works with practically any close mesh object.

a nice Story. :)

Hello, I'm back. At the beginning of summer I always get a creative hole. I rarely visit the individual pages and forums.
Now I've started to do the first things again.
The picture shows the storm coming. I made the terrain in Gaea, the clouds were made in Carrara and they took the longest time.
Trees are from Carrara.
Very good. Reminds me of the sailboat racing days for my wife and me in a 16' Windmill Class sailboat - very light planing hull sloop rig, retractable daggerboard, no spinnaker or trapeze, just hiking straps and a whisker pole to go "wing and wing" (downwind with the main/boom and jib/pole on opposite sides). The fleet got hit by a storm front on Galveston Bay, all boats capsized. I said we can win this if we get back up first, and stood on the daggerboard to right the ~sideways lying boat. With the mast stuck in the mud, this was a poor idea, the daggerboard broke in half where it comes out of the hull. We got towed in, but I saved both halves of my daggerboard.

Nice, @Bunyip02. How did you do NPR render from UltraScenery 2?
Thanks !
Is a multi stage process.
First of all I made the scene in USC2, then applied my alien vegetation in APII.
For the ground colour I modified the USC2 ground colour by adjusting the Hue in Paint Shop Pro.
Next I rendered it out in DAZ Studio minus the figure.
Opened Carrara and applied the render as a background image.
Opened the figure in Carrara, moved it to fit the render image/background. Applied a shadow catcher.
Rendered the final setup in Carrara.
Opened the final render in Paint Shop Pro.
Applied Topaz Adjust 5 filters for image enhancemant.
Then Applied Topaz Impression filter to create the NPR result. (Also use PhotoDonut, FotoSketcher, Dynamic Auto-Painter PRO 5, paint.net, and Filter Forge at other times.)
So in summary I didn't actually create the NPR look in USC2, more of a process that I followed.
Howie made some great scenes for Carrara, I'm using the USC2 to continue using his work in Carrara.

cool image though I can't help but feel they're all going to run aground...
It's an Island and the boats are sailing past !!!

that was the idea. The boats want to go to the back of the island. ;)
