hi i'm new to daz and wanted to know if there is any way to render or export an image as a lineart eg like a render in sketchup where it just shows the outer line of a building etc without the textures,
thanks for all your help:)

avastarHi;
I am the documentation maker for Avastar and meanwhile i also do most of the Avastar maintenance and bug fixing. So i'd like to add some information to this thread.
Why Avastar is like it is
Ok, so ... Avastar has indeed been designed primary for the creation of characters, attachments and animations for Second Life and similar online worlds. When we started its creation 2 years ago, we (2 developers and myself) did not think much about supporting any other target game engine. That's why Avastar internally "only" uses an exact replica of the Second Life Avatar with all its quirks and errors. Support for other skeletons is (currently) not provided.
What about Avastar's future ?
But now Avastar-1.0 is finished and we are free to step ahead and see what can be done next. I personally would like to add more support for other game engines as well (where it makes sense) Adding support for export to Cloud party comes to my mind. Or better support for MakeHuman (i have already talked to them), etc.
What about support for DAZ tools?
When i look at DAZ specifically, then i believe that we should not improve Avastar but improve Blender's native (out of the box) Collada Support such that we can transfer characters between DAZ tools and Blender in a seamless way.
Actually i am currently also responsible for the maintenance of Blender's native Collada module. So i will look at any missing features or bugs as they appear in the Blender bug tracker. So, if you have something to tell... I will work on it. Although we currently focus on supporting Sketchup because we get most reports from that comunity, hint...hint... :)
cheers,

Most of my objects are machines, or tools.
I used to model in sketchup, or alibre and convert but I like to tweek too much, so staying in one program is huge for me.
and avoiding file conversions removes a big PITA.
I believe I can model pretty much anything I need at this point using both the vertex or spline modeler.

...grabbed the .3ds (second) one as I learned I can just open then save it in a modeller as a .obj. Basically a nice Steinway A model which will look good in the studio of the London townhouse. The last one, while a full size concert grand, is unfortunately for Sketchup (.dae).Talk to music2u4u...he has done a lot of conversions of Sketchup models.

Sorry. I was going too quickly and didn't read the link, however it looks like you found the correct plugin. For others who are interested, the exporter is here: Correct OBJ exporter linkWorld War Two type Cargo Ship and TankerI have managed to export Sketchup models as OBJ's and 3ds files to Poser. I have also imported them into Vue 11 Infinite as OBJ's. There are some great models in Sketchup if you just want lo poly's in the background or not to close to the camera.I haven't tested them in DAZ Studio as yet,but I would imagine there would not be any problems. Many Many thanks to all you great people here in the forum for your assistance and advice.Cheers
CAR AND BIKE LOVERS THREAD - MARK IIHere is one I found in the Sketchup warehouse. Though it is not a muscle car or hot rod, it is vintage and a very cool ride. This 1963 Mercedes 300 Sedan has a lot of nice detail. Even has the reflection in the mirrors and tread details. I just liked the way it looked, so I got it...lol.

Sketchup Pro exports OBJ files. I've successfully exported OBJs from the free Sketchup 8 using this plugin:
OBJ Export plugin. I did have some trouble downloading the plugin in IE (Windows 7) but no trouble in Firefox.World War Two type Cargo Ship and Tankerarrow1 said:Thank you for all your replies. Can Sketchup models be used in Poser and DAZ? All I found was Titanic (from Vanishing Point).

Show Us Your Bryce Renders! Part 4"Google Valley Shopping Mall" is a recent model done by using SketchUp models and Daz3D's Genesis. The other few are way back when I only started out with Bryce 5 so nothing special there. I have taught myself 3D and Bryce by trial and error! Please excuse poor lightning and such, as this is an ongoing learning process, all the way!
