  • Reflective Radiance for 3Delight [Commercial]

Here is an example of a portrait lit with Reflective Radiance lights and 3 emissive panels (no spotlights or distant lights used). At 1000x1500 the render only took 35 minutes! Notice how soft the shadows are, I really like it the feel. This figure has the Victoria 6/Rybelle maps with AoA surfaces and Subsurface at 75%.

  • Appropriate child skins for growing up morph use?

I'll have to pay more attention to the skins I'm using and see if I notice the differences where shading is concerned.  I'm not saying Richard is wrong when I ask, just that I wasn't sure what the big deal was.  There are still a lot of things I still need to learn and I've never really looked at skins close enough to see what a skin with baked-in details looked like compared to skins that don't.  I was hoping that someone could point out a few really good examples so that I could take a look and compare skins so I educated myself and figure out what everyone was talking about.

When you say the Cailin skin, are you talking about this one?  http://www.daz3d.com/cailin-for-victoria-7  I have it, I just have used her yet.  I'll have to take a closer look at her.  Any links to an older skin that really shows the baked-in details so I can see what they are?

  • Customer service change?

    - for example, some of the things mentioned with respect to Leo 7 are feature requests (a desire for things to be done a different way) not bugs (something not working correctly).

It doesn't work correctly. The body slider should not alter height. If there is a difference with a specific character this should be stated in product description. Alterations like this make the character unusuable for its genetics without tweaking. To me that is a bug. It doesn't work correctly.

Why not? (Asking as a PA candidate, mind you) To me, dialing in body scaling in the combined dial (or in a preset for the character) is only going to give a body shape that may not be what the PA was envisioning for the character they are creating.

Generation 7 characters typically do not have height scaling baked in the body (only)  morph. So if you dial Michael 7's body without his head, it should not increase the character's height. If it does, you will mess up the user's character who may not want the character taller. Can you image the hullabaloo if Victoria 7 body increased her height?  Leo 7 is intended to be a lanky character, but his shape is not so unique it should warrant breaking the established character process. It is understandable if a full character preset of full character dial increased height. This is intended to be the full shape of the character including height dimensions. Body only however should not alter character size.

    Discussion is here: http://download.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/140881/question-about-leo-7-morph

FWIW, I agree with this. I use a lot of my base characters in mixed amounts. Having one that effects scaling is a no-no...means I won't be using that particular character to mix. What that boils down to is basically all I have now is the texture since I can't use the morph too. Might be enough for some people, but not what I bought it for.

  • GenX2 Update / Genesis 3 Add-On [Commercial]

I've been migrating some of my favorite V4 morphs to Genesis and then to Genesis 2 Female (and hopefully to G3F, too).  When I just loaded G2F to check progress, I noticed there's a Victoria 4 and a Victoria 4 (Shape).  When I dial either one in on G2F, they look just the same.

  • Issue with load of Gen3 Female figure

Okay, so my issue is with Gen3 female and getting her and her various files to be recognized and loaded into both DAZ and into Poser; However since she doesn't load into DAZ Studio, I will stick with that format and hope that one issue resolution will resolve the other.

It appears to have not installed correctly and I cannot get it to do so.
According to Daz Install Manager Genesis 3 Female recides in:
    (C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library)
         /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 3/Female/Genesis3Female.dsf

These are cut and paste path information from Daz Install Manager, when I select the link and open the folder. the Only file shown is the DSON support file and 4 folders.
Morphs, Projection Templates, Tools and UV sets. Each folder has it's own respective sub-folders and each DOES have items in it.

However, when I load Daz Studio, Gen3 Female is blank when I navigate to where she should be for import.
Files> Figures> People> Female> Genesis 3> this shows as blank, nothing in it. (there is a line that states "Where are my files?" - which is exactly what I am trying to figure out.

As an interesting side note: Files> Figures> People> Female> Real World> shows Victoria 6, which appears to load without issue. Not much in the way of Morphs, (have not purchased many); however, the ones that are there work just fine. This is interesting simply because V6 is based off the Gen3 base model correct? So Daz Studio knows "something" about where that information is, just not where it is to load the base figure into it's own catagory.

So, this started by my attempting to make a hair prop for V6 in Poser - I am unable to get the polygon surfaces I am selecting to highlight, (thereby allowing me to see what I am doing.) I know I am not doing the process wrong, because, well it works for every other character I load, even Daz characters. So it's an issue with the V6/Gen3 character. I am going on the assumption that since Gen 3 does not exists as far as Daz Studio is concerned in base format, this could be why DSON cannot translate the Polygon surfaces to allow for selection in Poser... Whew, still with me?

Okay, so in trying to find the files that make up G3 Female, I went to G3 Male:
Files> Figures> People> Male> Real World> and G2 and G3 are listed - as well as Basic Male and Surfer guy...
I select Genesis Male, right click and "Browse to file location" and it opens in: C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\People\Genesis 3 Male

So... following logic, I back out of that path and go into the Genisis 3 Female folder:
There are 3 files and 4 sub-folders Files are the DSON user file and 2 PNG - JUST Exactly like G3 Males folder content...

Since G3 Female is where she is supposed to be in order to load into DAZ, I try to load by double clicking on the file: G3 Loads into DAZ Studio just fine and there are a couple extra Morphs associated with just her (ears and whatnot.) To my untrained perspective, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the files and/or thier location. DAZ Studio just cannot "find" them when loading.

I should note here that according to Daz Install Manager the G3 Male content files are located in:
    (C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library)
        /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 3/Male/Genesis3Male.dsf

If I open the link, I get the exact same type of file listing I get for G3 Female, the DSON Support file and 4 folders.

So both Models are loaded, both are default, both the files are exactly where the system is thinking they are and are exactly the same in terms of the type of data they contain.
One loads and one does not.

The issue appears to be that ANYTHING associated with Genesis3Female is not read, or "folders" within the treee structure are just ignored and not loaded.
Any help with this would be great, and before it is suggested I have un-installed and re-installed G3 Female essentials multiple times to no resolution.

    Thank you,

    V

  • N.G.S. Anagenessis II - Revolution [Commercial]

I have a little problem too. For some reason, after Anagenissis 2 conversion, all my skins look really weird. I just add figure to the scene ( for example Victoria 7 here ). Then I select the figure and use "Anagenessis 2 Genesis 3" and I end up with something really weird. Here's my example:

    1) Victoria 7 before Anagenessis 2

    2) After Anagenessis 2 is applied

After conversion, I have some really weid colors for translucency, sss reflectance tint, glossy color and glossy specular. Like this:

After I set those colors to white, I get pretty good skin

After that I can start tweaking, but does anybody else get those weird colors? It's not a big deal to clear them, but I've been wondering if I have some bug or something with the product.

PS: I cant get the eyes look any good with Anagenessis, I just apply default eyes back

  • Best OOT Hair

Has anyone tried to use Topmodel Updo on a genesis 2 figure?  I've gotten it to "Fit To" a Stephanie 6 character, but when I try to apply any styling to it (No Bangs) the style won't change and it crashes Daz Studio.  I even tried loading Victoria 7, applying the hair and the style I wanted and then making Victoria 7 invisible.  It didn't really look right, though.  I know it's for Genesis 3, but I've had no problems loading hairs from V4 and Genesis on my character.

Instead of doing "fit to", try just loading it without anything in the scene selected and with your character in the "zero" pose. Then use the z, y, and z sliders to get the hair to "fit" onto the character's head and then parent it to the character's head. That's what works for me for a lot of the hair products that aren't designed for the character I want it on. Parenting the hair to the head instead of "fit to" should keep all the morphs intact.

  • Caitlin for Genesis 3 Female(s) by addy. Seam visible between torso and leg textures. [FIXED]

Well, well....whadda ya know? It does it for me too. Loads that way. However, if I change the UVs from Vicky 7 to Base Female it disappears :).

    Laurie

The character loads (called Victoria 7) but uses default (G3F) UVs. Even if I change the UVs to v7, still no seem.

    I use 4.9.3.166 Beta.

That could also be a gamma setting issue in either the specular or diffuse maps.  I've ahd that happen where the gamma setting for specular maps is set at 0 for some maps and at 1 for others, causing that difference.

It would affect all the texture, not just a small section. Or at least, the many times I've had to change it, it has.

So, nicstt, your still not seeing this? I noticed that your on the beta, do you still have 4.8 running as well? Could you check her on that?

I did and not seeing there either.

    EDIT:

As you can see, no seams; loads stating V7, but uses Default UVs.

And I rendered too, to be sure; no seams.
