You might not understand what I meant. They could have given the female and male Genesis 2 and 3 figures a name instead of Genesis, while keeping the Victoria and Michael naming designations. Genesis could have stayed just Genesis.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Daz! I'm not sure how long you'll be here though because from reading your question I think you may have the wrong idea about Daz and how it works. Here you buy "Materials" and by that I mean, characters, hair, clothing, environments, morphs ect...think if it like this. You're trying to cook a meal and Daz is the grocery store. You don't grow your own vegetables or butcher your own meat, you come here to buy what is for sale. Using the same metaphor, you don't go to the grocery store to buy Spaghetti and Meatballs. You go to buy the ingredients you'll need to MAKE spaghetti and meatballs. Here that means you'll have to pick your character, their hair, their clothes and buy them all seperate. Often (myself included) someone that is new will mistake what they see in a product page for what they get when they purchase. Only to be shocked at a bald/naked model. There are ways to make 3 characters into 6 by say, mixing and matching characters with other characters skin. So that could reduce your cost some. That said, this hobby does require something from your bank account. There is no "Beginner Cheap Bundle" that includes everything you'll need.

My best advice is work with the G3F/G3M characters, clothing, hair and environment that comes free with download and get a feel for how posing and lighting works. Learn your way around the command panels, ask questioins when you get stuck. You can have every character ever made but if you don't know how the program works, it won't matter.  And in the mean time, go through the catalog, save things to your wishlist and check in on the DAILY. The sales here happen often and you can get some truly cool products at a steal if you time it right. Others you just have to say "Well, I want it, I have the money, I'm going for it now!" There is no way for anyone here to tell you what you'll need. It all depends on what type of art YOU plan on making. And hey, that's half the fun! Finding those items that really make your creation POP to life.

Actually i'm just a week in daz and don't know like 95% of stuff but i have started learning daz through tutorials and other stuff i can find. 

Now i want to tell what i think i can do with daz and please correct if i'm wrong 

Before i thought that in daz i can create model and i was wrong i found that daz is like a compilation tool where either i buy or create stuff from other softwares import it in daz. Right now when i posted this question what i have in mind is that once i buy 5-6 things example like this.....https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-7-pro-bundle and few other thing then i would be able to create at least 7-8 characters which  will look different and look good.

So if i'm wrong then it's ok but i'm right then please recommend what i need to get. Thanks

Welcome! Basically the majority of the content sold at DAZ is for use inside Daz Studio (or Poser) to create (render) still images or animations. The base figures come with the app. To get most addon characters to work, you will need the additional body and head morph packs for each figure. you can import .OBJs into DS and use them, but many times you will have to adjust or even apply the textures/shaders afterward.

There are some users that come to DAZ thinking the things sold in the store are for game use, not really. All are designed with DS/Poser rendering/animation in mind meaning most don't work well in a game engine efficiently. If a user still want to try and make that work, DAZ and a few vendors do offer specific game licenses that need to be purchased in order to use that specific content in a game.

Also, 3D printing. Daz does allow the 3d printing of DAZ models, but only for personal use on a personal printer.

Well, you could always just drop the "Genesis" and make Victoria 8 and Michael 8 the baseline characters.  I realize there are some other traditional reasons you might not want to, since historically, Victoria has usually been the super model.

I do agree that discussions of "generation 4" compared to "Genesis 4" could get really confusing.  When I first started buying Daz models, I got several generation 3 items because I thought they were for Genesis 3.  I puzzled for a while as to why they packaging looked so different and why they were rendered less realistic.  Since there is no absolute price differential, it's hard to tell sometimes what is the up to date item.  Many of the older models, textures, and props, still look really good in render.

Well if folks want to drop the Victoria and Michael and other names from the figures then just may as well go the plain name route like this..  And can replace the 4 with an 8 if you want to..

When will DAZ update this product to add latest generation of models so that it can be used with Genesis 3 figures and not just Victoria/Michael old characters? Does anybody knows?

Why drop the names Victoria and Michael? They are characters for the base models just like any other character for the base models. If someone is confused about Victoria and Michael, then the rest must blow their minds.

Numbering out of sequence isn't without precedent. New male and female models get assigned the current Mike or Vicky number regardless of how many there may have been. There were no Davids 1,2 or 4. Gianni was introduced as Gianni 6 for Genesis 2 Male with no Giannis 1-5.

And just to make things more convoluted, there are multiple series of G2s and even some G3s, as there's still content being sold out there for Smith Micro's Jessie 2, Mikki 2 and friends. And while it's certainly not a fair comparison, it's obvious that SM's decision to start playing the all-new figure name of the year game hasn't done much to help make those figures more sucessful.  .        

The Poser figures were called G2 long before V4 and M4 or Genesis, in all fairness ;). It was more of an unfortunate accident of dueling acronyms than anything.

I have a problem with the content that comes with daz. For example when I want to load the "Basic Female" figure I try to doubleclick on it on the smart content menu and then it says "Resource Error: Could not open file:/people/genesis ... File does not exist" however when i drag it into the viewport it loads correctly. The same happens for anything like clothes, lights, presets etc.. anything that comes for free with daz via the download manager.

However the content that I installed manually like victoria 4 loads just by double clicking it.

Whats the issue here?

Well said about the lead to kit-bashing. At first I was like "bah, so plain and boring- and very Marvel-ish, too Marvelish"

But then, I imagined COMBINING this suit with some other goodies and wow, what a foundation this makes.

Sounds like a good idea - removing unnecessary complexity, even by just adjusting the naming scheme, is a good thing to keep the mind on things that count. If it means you don't have to spend your time anymore to explain that Victoria 7 is Genesis 3 and can use it for something more meaningful instead, that's a big win in my book.

Please no more throw away UV Maps. Just have all the female characters including Victoria use the Genesis 4? Female UV map and all the male characters including Michael use the Genesis 4? Male UV map.

I felt DAZ should have droppedthe Victoria and Michael names with the first Genesis.  Those names create more confussion than anything else they have done.  I can't count the number of times at another popular 3D/CGI forum I had to point out that Victoria and Michael are not and have not been the base figures for the Genesis lines.

Some other thoughts:

- A page with an actual time line overview of all figures released so far might help to lower any confusion.

- Ask 100 people on the street that have no clue about licensed 3d content what they think about naming product generations and their addons.

They aren't Victoria and Michael. Those are separate, different figures for Genesis 2 /3. 

Honestly I think there's only been 1 version of Genesis (Genesis 1). Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 are just Victoria/Michael 6 and 7. What made Genesis Genesis is it was a unimesh where male and female figures could be mixed together and the age and body type of the figure could be mixed together. It was essentially combining Michael, Victoria, and The Kids all together.

Genesis 2 and 3 go back to the separate figures approach. In my opinion it was a marketing mistake to give them the Genesis name. They should have gone back to Victoria and Michael which is what they are.

Okay, I mentioned PerspectX Family Room and I tried BD Elena as she was in a featured store and I haven't bought any of BD's lately. I liked her characters when she was Artemis but the new style of eyebrows, large eyes and noses, just don't appeal to me. Mostly (of course) the thin eyebrows. So Elena was okay with the eyebrows, and noses can be morphed. This is out of the box though, and I think she's rather cute. As I mentioned,  iRadiance Pro Series 16K HDRIs- Photo Studio for Iray is the additional lighting and does well with sets, using "Floodlight." It's an emissive panel that reminds me of a Ghost Light. (Is it in the Iray sale? I didn't look, and it wouldn't show up as I have it already.)  I like this lighting.

I used the trees from Peaceful House for the background in the window. Had some fun- I do draw (2D artist) and if I hadn't told you, would you have known that half of those leaves are mine, hand drawn, to match the 3D trees? The leaves on your left and right top are all mine. 

TIP: darken the walls and the lamp shade if you're adding lights or doing daytime. They wash out otherwise. I also did the window sill (all whites went to gray. Green went from ight to medium.) 

TIP: use  Sunbathing Poses for Eva 7 and other sunbathing pose sets for sitting poses in chairs and lounging on a couch.

TIP: Push heels of feet and the character's hiney slightly into the cushions. They don't rest on "top" of the fabric, they nestle into it.

18 minutes: 51% 2238 iterations      89%  35 minutes  4099 iterations.  So not speedy, and things turned off that were not in scene. The trees added to the time.
