Winthrod,
Thanks for the note. I have not seen much user problem so far with the positioning of green dots. Let me remind you that this is not exact science but an artistic process, where trial and error are part of the learning curve. <---SNIP--->
Best,
LasloWell now you've seen another user having the same problem. Me. So that's two.
I was very reluctant to buy HeadShop 9 having seen little or no real movement in the last few versions of this product, but I eventually gave in because I had a specific project that I wanted to use it on. That project has now been completed, but not by using HeadShop!
I'm going to repeat what I said in another thread, and note that this is not a support request - it's feedback. Maybe others have had different experiences. If so, I urge them to post here.
1) The Profile Tab is absolutely useless. There is NO point in having the ability to trace around the profile of the head object that you've already imported - you need to trace around the profile picture of the character that you're trying to create - so that you can transfer that profile to your character. What I thought was the raison d'etre of the whole product! Even then, the placement of the dots is agonising, as has been mentioned by the previous poster. You cannot correct without doubling back!
2) The created head texture is 1024x1024. If I start with an 8192x8192 portrait, I don't expect to find it shrunk to a postage stamp texture that's only any good for Half Life or whatever. This is a shame because the actual texture mapping algorithm seems to work quite well.
3) WHY is there a Load Project button visible on the first screen when the plugin is invoked when that button is never enabled? Why? Why? Why? Maybe I want to suspend and then continue a project that I already started.
But my biggest reason for giving such negative feedback is that this is now NINE VERSIONS - and still the basics are not right!
I regret to say that it's the last version that I will buy and I rate this product 4/10. It could be great ... but it isn't.
Can headshop 9 meld face textures to body?Basically title. Looks really cool but useless if it can't blend the texture to a body.
Also, what's up with the new forums? Pretty cool, but where is the search and why can't I view older posts via google?
Working with the Profile Tab in HeadShop 9.

We tested HeadShop with Genesis 3 Base Female. It needs to be treated as an "Import OBJ" object.
Steps:
1. Select "Import OBJ" from options
2. Adjust "green head" for shape
3. Proceed as with other charactersFaceShop is now called HeadShop - Shipping at DAZ (Commercial)Higgo78 said:So Laslo, you have seduced us into buying the product for the latest figure, now Genesis 3 is released!!!Can you please advise if you will be doing an update to headshop to include Genesis 3 as the bas .obj???

Yes, I admit it was all a fiendish plot. Btw. I suspect that gen 3 will work with gen 2 settings (man, woman, child). Victoria 4 is a non-Genesis 2 model, so you need to click on the "Import OBJ" button when loading.
It should load back as other non-Gen figures.
If you still have problems, pls. let's take it off the forum and call Abalone Tech Support at 650-302-0894 or email. (info at abalonellc.com)

Just to clarify this point: I'm reading the Headshop 9 manual and have reviewed the chapter about how to load Poser figures and work with them in Headshop. Is that the procedure that should be used to work with pre-Genesis 2 figures made by Daz3D (Victoria 4, Michael 4, Genesis) in Headshop?
Yes. With the exception of Genesis 2, all other figures are treated as "other". This also means that only Gen 2 figures can be aged and weighted in the "Features" tab.No Need to Buy HairShop Separately, It is Included in HeadShop 9! (Commercial)Abalone LLC said:

No problems there. However, as I was working on my first project in headshop, I discovered that whenever I apply the "autodots" they line up just fine on my picture, but copy the characteristics about an inch too low on the genesis head. For example, the autodots are lined up around the lips of my picture, but show up on the chin of the genesis head. This goes for the eyes, nose, etc.
I appreciate any tips on how to solve this! This would be the best place to post your query as he likes to provide the technical support.

If you want to merge this over to that thread, a PM to a mod is how done.

Genesis 3 is free, as were Genesis 2 and 1. There is a Genesis 3 starter essentials pack in your product library. SO you can play with Genesis 3 without spending a penny. As a product of the 70s counter-culture who has survived, I owe my survival to learning to manage addiction. I know that if I try G3, the initial free sample will not satisfy my curiosity nor squelch my desire. Mrs. Reagan advised us to "Just say NO". So I will wait until my current drug of choice loses its effectiveness and I can afford to purchase the new long list of required headshop paraphernalia ... again.
For me, no, this is the end of DS for me. I simply find no use for it 90% of the time, I'm spending a vast amount of time with Bryce and I'm far happier with how the results are more applicable to my purpose. Every item in my wishlist is a Bryce item.
No diss on DS, it's just not useful for my purposes any more. *shrug*
...the latest release 4.8.0.59 fixed the bridge with Bryce so you can set up characters in Daz and import them into Bryce so I wouldn't totally trash your investment. Think of it, a NVWaSIaT fighting off tentacles in a really cool surrealistic Bryce setting. There are also a good number of freebie props and sets for Bryce, particularly at Share CG.I'm not throwing anything away, it's all getting archived on mt 1TB drive over this week and not moved to the new machine unless I see a huge need for it. No de-installing, just.. no installing. ;-)

Modelling a character after a real person? Why don't you try this:
http://www.daz3d.com/headshop-9 it is designed for creating head morphs using a front and side photo, and will give convert the texture as well. The morphs are for Genesis 1 or 2.
Adding products in Daz.. Need help please,I purchased Headshop 9 directly from Abalone and it is not working properly. So, this is causing me to get ill.Have a look at this thread here : http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/57574/
I also have some cool things that I purchased from Runtime DNA. They don’t show up. I really like the Daz Content Management but does everything need to be installed directly from it? Has it made Daz proprietary?
the DAZ Install Manager (DIM) can ONLY be used to install DAZ 3D content bought from the store here. If the content you have bought from RDNA is in ZIP files, simply merge the content of the zips with your current DAZ content folder, or create a new one just for content from other stores.
If you are not sure how to do that, please start another thread.Do I need a copy of Poser 2014 as well? What do you guys do for older figures that say it is compatible but is not being displayed?
Not for DAZ Studio content, what does it say on the Product Page for the item you are asking about?
DAZ Studio needs to know where your content is installed to, in Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager. Make sure that you have the path to your content library listed as BOTH DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats in there.
In the Content Library pane in DS, you will find DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats. Most older content like V4, V3, M4, M3 etc. etc. you will find in Poser Formats.
Is there any item in particular that you cannot find?HeadShop HelpI am not tech support just a forumite .... my OS is W7, D/S4.8 the latest. D/S was installed manually to wherever it is it wanted to go [somewhere in My Programs].
The Headshop plugin ... I had to run the installer to a "holding folder" on the desktop. Then copy/pasted everything to their appropriate places as per the instructions in the included .pdf file. And it works :-)

As a convenience, I might add. It is easier to give a live tech support than via email, but if that's how you like, no problem.
(Actually, Skype is super for tech support, as we can share screens and usually solve problems in minutes, instead a lenghty back-and-forth via emails. Both of you probably have unusual DAZ Studio installation (maybe not on c drive, etc), and that is what needs to be established.)
Please let tech support at abalone know exactly your DAZ Studio version (warning, 4.8 beta won't work), and we can take it from there.

Ps: HeadShop was tested and passed by DAZ QA for 3 months and they built a DAZ installer as well.Live tech support is awesome, except when you work 40+ hours a week and are exhausted when you get home. I'll be contacting you, but it's going to have to wait until I'm not falling down in bed when I get home from work. ;_;
