FSMC doesn't like it because they only wanted to use it on skimpy clothing, and it was made for heavier coverage clothes.  If you want to use it on bikinis, no, it's not going to work great, but it's great on long sleeves, pants and skirts (i.e. the things that are shown in the promos).

 

Mind you, Valzheimer does a great product, I'm not arguing with that.

I "don't like it" because it doesn't work as advertised. Maybe a change to the name of the product is in order since it only says "SY Victoria 4 and Michael 4 Clones for Genesis 8" which implies it works on all clothing, not just the types shown in the promos or specialized clothing items.

Yeah, it is some work to do it the long way. :) I think that's why the "clones" are probably good sellers, people want the convenience of one step application - and the clones probably work better and make the outfits look better than the "leapfrog" autofit way. I'll have to test it out to see. ;)

That is exactly why I purchased this product, because autofitting to G3 first and then saving became pretty tedious. Unfortunately I had to stick to this method.

With Wear Them All and SickleYield Templates, the hood, cloak and main robe for Moroccan Dreams M4 autofit to G3 okay. Main robe distorts a bit near hem but the robe is also the only part that dforces okay (hide buttons in simulation, turn self collide off on all other surfaces) and that helps with the hem.

I'm not sure why jewelry is so difficult but G8M has so little. I just recently purchased the rocker set here, but also found two new sets at Rendo, one is a Celtic jewelry set, which I thought looked cool for G8M, plus the new set by SF-design for men. I had to manually use wedding rings from an old set for the guys, but there aren't even those in the store.  Good luck with the dog tags. Just don't look too closely at them! I believe they all have Alex's name on them.

What I've found so far is that a good set for really simple rings, and even some more complex ones, until and unless another G8M set comes out, is a G3 set by Fisty - https://www.daz3d.com/ring-collection-for-genesis-3-male-s
They're conformers -- basically, gloves -- so they go through autofit for G8. You have to turn off the rings you don't want, but they still work more easily, in some ways, than a smart prop set.

In theory, if you could manage the fiddliness, it should be possible to change the scene identification and get them to behave as though they were made for G8. In theory. Stuff with the hands is fiddly enough that I just don't want to try, most of the time.

I am, sadly, entirely unsurprised at the lack of jewelry for G8. I just realized -- and I'm willing and hoping to be proven wrong, but I don't think I am -- that there hasn't been a dark skinned merchant resource produced for male characters since (.... drumroll, please!) ... Michael 4. Seriously. Not kidding. Daz produced two for that generation, one of which is both problematic and was used by a whole lotta people (still in the store, in fact - https://www.daz3d.com/m4-merchant-resource-african), and one which I think has been retired and I only know it existed because I bought it by accident, way back when. G8 just this past week got a combined G3/G8 caucasian resource; the first for his generation, a full year in. (And it has TIFFs! Egad!) And elsewhere in the forum, there is the bimonthly "where all the male stuff at?" thread.

Anyway, those are some very impressive renders. I was wondering how the cybernetic head prop worked. Maybe the vendor will come out with Hinge Hair to match, so it can be flipped up to access the panel. (Apart from him being for G3M, that panel might go really well with Pix-Cypher.)

I installed M4 with DIM....when I have this issue even the available content disapper (the grey one)

No, there are no magnets sets for that. Magnet fit sets are used to add morphs, not to fit clothes to a totally different figure. You can use autofit for that.

G1 has a clone for V4/M4, G2F for G1, G3F for G2F, and so on. So to go from V4 to G2F you could convert from V4 to G1, then convert the result from G1 to G2F.

Is there a link to the Stephanie 4 Morphs anywhere?  I couldn't find it, other than the magnets.

Now all I need are the teen full body morphs for Michael 4 and I am all set.

Does anybody know if there is any way to do a full body morph in Victoria 4 or Michael 4 to look like a teen, almost similar to the Growing Up morph for Genesis 3?

Hi all, I just got this , I can't figure it out.  it says to load the clothing , then choose the clone. how do you do that? There is nothing except 2 icons and they both bring me to SY's Store page. Weird.

I think this product is a little expensive when you know the M7 textures are already included in Genesis 8 Starter Essentials for FREE, they are the Basic Male textures.

Yeah I was thinking (remembering, or misremembering) that "The Freak 3" was what people started calling him around when The Freak 4 came out, or at least when Michael 4 came out. But looking in the store today I was confused by "official" store listings referring to the Freak 3.

Even if you prefer manual installation for normal products you can still use Connect to install the most important core products like the Genesis Starter Essentials or the Default Resources to make sure they are up to date always.

In the smart content tab filter bar with nothing selected in the scene enter "Starter" to see all the Genesis Starter Essentials.

Right click on them to install the Connect version.

 

Now each time when you start DAZ Studio you can quickly browse to the update tab to see if there are any.

Or do it just once a week or once a month. Up to you.

 

A benefit of installing core files inside DAZ Studio with Connect is that you do not loose time starting up another software like the DIM and can check for updates without loosing much time whenever you are working with DAZ Studio.

In any case that way you should not miss any updates to the most crucial core products that should be kept up to date to make sure everything is working as intended.

 

Just do not mess around with the product files installed to the Connect folder and keep that library exactly as it is.

If you do want to create you own custom libraries with other products you can still download the .zip files with the DIM and install them manually as Richard suggested.

I install everything using Conect, and the items disappeard. Interestingly, EVERY item I had installed is now uninstalled. They all show as highlighted in Smart Content, but when I click on the icon, all the thumbnails show a square with an exclamation point. I have to right click and chose install to reinstal them. None of them show as needing to update. Except for Michael 4, Hiro 4, and Victoria 4.2, which won't let me chose install. DIM shows them as installed.

- When I use Daz figures, I'd say that 80% of the time I use G2F and G2M, another 10% of the time I use Genesis 1,  probably 5% for V4/M4 and earlier, and 5% Genesis 3 and later.

- I regularly use V4 and M4 content with all generations.  If I want to use V4/M4 content with V3/M3 or earlier, I use Poser's Wardobe Wizard to convert.  I also use Wardrobe Wizard to convert Poser content to V4/M4 to be adapted again to another gneration. 

- If I want to use V4/M4 content with Genesis 1 or later, I use Daz Studio to convert.  Daz Studio's transfer utility can be used to convert content designed for V4/M4 to genesis, and then from genesis to Genesis 2, and then from... all the way up the line.  Then save the result out as a scene subset or a wearable preset.  Then use in Carrara.

EDIT:  Can also go from Michael 3 to Genesis.  Just use Poser Wardrobe Wizard to go from M3 to M4 (if have the preset) and the Studio M4 to Genesis.  I have a set of historical uniforms and similar clothing made for Poser's Simon 7 that I convert to Michael 4 using Poser wardrobe wizard, and then to Genesis 2 Male using Studio transfer utility.

After doing this for G3 I got to a point where the older textures didn't look as good as the new iray ones (even with Anagenesis), so i stopped using anything oither than the new G3 and G8 textures, but here is the way to use V4 textures on G8F
