"Brace yourself, my dear wallet! There's always another Sale - and Glitches!"
If I recall correctly, the only version of Victoria I've ever paid for was V4...Oops, actually I paid for V7, too; $17.90 for the Pro bundle.
Victoria 8Well... hmm.
Her face doesn't look as creepy or artificial as V7's did. And the items included with the bundle are pretty nice. I also like the idea of enhanced backwards compatability, though I really hope SickleYield releases some new ultra templates soon.
My only quibble is that... Daz, I also got the Victoria 5 pro bundle through the Carrarra Pro. Doesn't that count for the V8 discount? D:
And Genesis 8 is reality today, just the date was wrong :DWelp, Victoria 8 Pro has been bagged and bought, and has bonus wings too, because WINGS, man. WINGS.
Spent some time testing things, and pleasantly surprised about how nicely things auto-fit on Genesis 8.
FYI, Gen3F skins go great on her.
Edit: Also edited the starting post.
Victoria 8Just gonna pass at this point I think.
New unattractive Victoria to spend more money on? That's a no.
Buy the head and body morphs and expressions seperately yet again? Also no.
Spend a bunch of money in the middle of the month when payday is a couple of weeks away? Big NO.
Buy that stuff at the end of the month when I have money because Daz will keep the discount on it for that long? Never gonna happen.
Keep paying for PC membership even though almost all the free "gifts" are props I don't want just in case they might actually get a sudden generous impulser? Daz can bite me!
Do I sound bitter? Maybe it's because I spent the last couple of months buying Merchant Resources for Genesis 3 and my project for that is now dead aand moldering in an unmarked grave.
On the bright side It looks like I'll be saving a lot of money in the next few years. Guess I need to find a new hobby.
Victoria 8Also keeping it as Genesis 4 will get it confused with Generation 4 since most refer to Genesis products as G#.
Not a big fan of how Victoria 8 looks. She looks a lot like Lilith 7 and really either looks like a tranny or just looks too old - of course this is just MY opinion. I might just stick to the Genesis 3 gals for a while.
Victoria 8Because we begged DAZ to drop that nonsense with Genesis having other numbers than their morphs. (like Genesis1/Victoria5, Genesis2/Victoria 6, Genesis3 /Victoria7)
Genesis 8 and Genesis 3 TexturesThe name "Genesis 8" appears to be their way to align with Victoria/Michael which do not have an unbroken chain. I have always thought it disingenuous to continue with "Genesis" naming after the the first generation of it since they essentially abandoned the concept with "Genesis" 2.
As for "Extreme backward compatability", this is what I found using the "Genesis" 8 base female so far:
"Genesis" 3: General clothing from both male/female appear to work but I could not get high-heeled shoes to work out-of-the-box. Materials okay. Poses, no. Morphs, no.
"Genesis" 2: Again, general clothing from both male/female seem to work but high-heeled shoes, no. Materials, no. Poses, no. Morphs, no.
Genesis, Generation 4: See "Genesis" 2.
One must be very careful in deciding how to invest in DAZ character content because a new generation is inevitably going to appear every couple of years and it is easy to feel as if one needs to invest in "new" technology when it is offered. However, here especially, one must carefully weigh the cost vs. return on investment. Many people have stopped investing at Gen4 and find it sufficient for most renders.
After investing heavily in Gen4, Genesis and "Genesis" 2, I stopped buying characters, morphs, and poses at "Genesis" 2. I buy "Genesis" 3 clothing because I can make it work with "Genesis" 2 without too much effort. The same might be case with this new generation. Depends on how well the vendors do with providing clones for "Genesis" 2. Except for clothing, I feel as though I successfully skipped "Genesis" 3 and I feel good about that. I will probably do the same for "Genesis" 8 but will wait to see how it develops.
No Parameter sliders for Victoria/Michael 5 in Carrara?Hi all,
So after responding to a different post regarding characters, I decided to poke around a little with character posing in Carrara.
I noticed, however, that while Genesis 2 (at least so far) has parameter sliders for posing in Carrara, Victoria/Michael 5 don't. I only have the Puppeteer section.
Is there some different way of posing Vic/Mike5 in Carrara, or does posing/animating have to be done in DAZStudio, and then brought into Carrara?
I've tried looking for an answer to this, but haven't found anything specifically addressing it.
Thanks!Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 9Here's a test render of FW Rebekah for V8 in the Blue Bell Woods with the Morning Star Wings. Lovely character and the wings have a lot of posing and texture options. She's wearing the Throne Defender outfit without the outer armor. There are many pieces to this set. Mixing and matching gives you some different looks. The PAs did a very nice job on the outfit, wings and character. The Voss Hair is very nice too. and is for G3F as well.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 9BTW, I did install the new studio, no glitches whatsoever, all custom content is there. Also note JUN HAS AN UPDATE. They probably fixed the files.
FWSA Elizabeth HD for Victoria 8 (HOW WEIRD TO DO THAT FOR THE FIRST TIME. FEELS LIKE A TYPO!)

Genesis 8 and Genesis 3 Texturesthere is a comfusion with the product name,,
logicaly is "Genesis 4" or "Victoria 8" not "Genesis 8"Genesis 8 and Genesis 3 TexturesThere is no Genesis 4. I think there would be some confusion between Genesis 4 and Generation 4 (Michael 4/Victoria 4 etc.) So they named it Genesis 8, since it is the 8th generation figure to be released.
If you use Daz Install Manager (DIM), log in and check for new products. The new Genesis 8 Female Starter Essentials should be available for download. Otherwise, log in to Daz3D, go to your Product Library and search for "Starter Essentials". You should find a section for Genesis 8 Starter Essentials there.
I did find a problem though. The supposed "Power Pose Templates" file that accompanies the Starter Essentials appears to be exactly the same file as the Starter Essentials. I think someone at Daz got something mixed up somewhere along the line.
Genesis 8 = Genesis 4 to me.
Victoria 8hey guys, i'm a new guy and just started using daz like 3-4 days ago. I want to know if i should get victoria 8 pro bundle or not. I made a thread and people recommened me to first get familiar with daz by working with free stuff before buying anything but i was still confused as many free stuff also require you to have morphs. So i just saw victoria 8 pro bundle and i read if i get victoria 8 pro bundle i will get victoria 5,6,7 pro bundle free and victoria 8 starter bundle and other things too for free. i think if i buy victoria 8 i won't need to buy again anytime soon.
So what i want to know is if i right now just learn about daz and buy victoria like a month later will it still include other bundles or not and if i even get victoria 8 pro bundle will i still require other stuff to buy or it would be enough for now. thanks
Hi
Fairly new myself as of 6 months ago.
The bundling of V5 & V6 & V7 may not be included with V8 after the initial release deal I think - so if you think it's a good deal (and it is) - go for it. I always regret not just plumping for Pro bundles - might be a few items I never use, but they are good value in the long run.
A lot of the free stuff (sharecg and the like) is for the older Victoria 4 model - but clothing for Victoria should work on Genesis and up with autofit that comes with Daz- free characters will require Victoria 4 of course.
When I started in December I got M6 and V7 PRo bundles on a deal, but with a week or two I'd gotten M4 and V4 for the wealth of free material out there for those figures. If you are new, you may not have bought a machine with GPU intensive work in mind - I know I didn't have it in mind when I bought my last machine - the older models are easier on system resources than the newer ones, so that's another reason to consider older models. My machine cannot handle scenes with a lot of the newer figures, but can do more with these older figures.
Best advice I can give is to subscribe to Platinum for 3 months - great discounts on a lot of items to get you started - I should have done that from the get-go, instead of waiting a couple of months.
I messed up this morning on my V8 purchase and neglected to add V5 and V6 pro to my cart before hitting checkout - got confused and thought I had them already - only have V7 Pro - I really shouldn't shop until after my morning two cups of coffee... Meh, I already have most of both bundles that I really wanted - but still annoyed at myself...
Put in a support ticket. They might give you the missed bundles for free.

Victoria 8and the sales almost every day that brainwash you into buying more and more and more.....and more......
and if i even get victoria 8 pro bundle will i still require other stuff to buy or it would be enough for now
You most certainly will buy more, as DAZ lures you with sparkling new content and equally sparkling (but cheaper) old content ...

As much as I love the free stuff, you don't get the same results as you do with the bought products, so it's worth shifting eventually. if you don't have the others, and you have the cash to do it then it probably is worth going with the new gen. That way you will have all the base figures you need and it will still be compatable with the new products that will be coming out.
You will eventually be able to pick her up at a discount, if money's tight, but to get gen 5,6 & 7 with all the bundled goods that come with it (assuming you're going for pro or starter) drops her price significantly. No if you buy her in a weeks time it probably won't include the other pro bundles, and it will probably never be repeated.
Released-Keri for Victoria 8 [Commercial]Keri is a character for Victoria 8 with a custom head morph and additional body morphs from the Genesis 8 Female Body Morph Pack and uses the base Genesis 8 Female UV maps. Her base morph will load both the custom, dialed and Victoria 8 morphs into your Genesis 8 Female Model.
She has a collection of 5 complete make up options, three brows and a no brow option as well as three mascara options for a mix and match variety. Of her 6 eye colors, one is a fantasy version just to mix things up a bit.
The base hierarchy material setting will add the lash, tears and anatomical element materials with the base figure as long as both are loaded with Genesis or Victoria 8 Models.
Anatomical Elements are included.
Materials are Iray only.
