Genesis 9 clothing questions & answers

I haven't had chance to watch the video but I've had some success which I'm really happy with. I was getting really frustrated yesterday as the process is a little bit different and I was using the transfer utility as I had in the past with poor results but by using the utilities to load the dress template and then using that in the transfer utility I was able to get it to work. Doing a happy dance right now...please ignore the poor render and surfaces. This has no uv's yet. It will be dforce rather than conforming.
I just needed some distance to get it to work...my brain was in a loop yesterday.

That's looking great! :D
One of the things I love about G9 is the rigging - it is now much easier to rig long dresses and skirts with shins. The A Pose from before made anything with a skirt and high heels hard to rig. Now that the feet are standing flat on the ground its much easier to use.
The ability to load the template is great too - there's a lot of different uses
1. You can load the template to see how close its going to be to the outfit you're transferring to - the closer it is in volume the better your result.
2. Creators can load the templates and see where the different clothing zones are to make it easier to fit pants and shirts over each other (not mandatory of course, but useful)
3. If you have a figure that you use a lot and it includes a custom morph that doesn't work well with clothing, you can fix the morph in the template and save it, and from then on clothing that you autofit will use the morph you fixed.
4. You can take the template items into MD and drape against them - the plan is to expand the templates with a hoop dress, loose jackets, some high heel templates etc - once the dust settles down a bit.
5. Last but not least you can use replace source with the templates to get all the custom ercs and formulas hooked up for your dresses - just make sure you immediately save with another name and in another product folder so you don't overwrite the templates.

I just loaded this with DIM, and then copied the patch files. The Base Morph works, and the presets, and zero utilies work, and the new Flatten morph works. None of the other sliders seem to do anything, or even want to move. No errors reported.
Tested on a fresh base V9 and base G9 with male character applied.
Also, GU for G9 does not show up in Smart Content/Shaping, unlike GU for previous generations.
I'll see whats happening with smart content. Regarding morphs not doing anything please read the usage guide. It is all explained in there.I see. No worky without the base active. This is a new requirement. I've used GU morphs in the past without this restriction. Anyway, I imagine there was a reason for this change. I set the base to 1% and that unlocked sliders.
Thanks
Getting on the 9 train, or notI like Genesis 9, but I'm not sure I want to pay for a whole new batch of the same morphs yet. I am going to wait to see what is offered for the mens.
Genesis 8.1 was sort of a miss as far as there being a lot of men's content. now that Genesis 9 is unisex I am somewhat more optimistic. I also really want to see more of that torso, neck, and shoulder area, and how males look with it. I am a touch concerned with the morph being too feminine-centric for me, but we shall see. I haven't seen enough masculine stuff at this stage to judge.
I however, really like what I've seen with the face rig and expressions on victoria. If they can make M9 and other males nearly as nice, I will be sold.
AOBB's freebie male head morph Yves G9. No materials nor textures.EDIT: I have fixed a problem with the morph and linked the eye position to the head morph, so now you just have to dial in the head morph and the eyes will automatically move into place. If you have downloaded the Yves G9.zip file and installed it, please install instead the fixed morph (Yves G9 fixed.zip) that you will find attached now at the bottom of this post. I apologize for the inconvenience but I hope the improvements are worth it.
As far as I know there are virtually no male characters for G9, so I thought I'd make one quickly. I present you with Yves G9 (Edit: I've replaced the promo images with new ones, because I didn't like the original renders):
Assets used in the images:
Mateo Hair for G8M
dForce H&C Leather Jacket Outfit (T-shirt) for G8M
G9 Eyebrows Fiber Style 01 Thick
Commercial and noncommercial use.
Please let me know about any issues you might have had with this morph. Don't forget to post your renders with Yves in this thread for my (and not only) viewing pleasure!

I hope you like him.
Enjoy!

Hi. Figured it out...
Here is the update link - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TYm-VgIOm78aV_NH7HMOas7_q1VsKpR3/view?usp=sharing
Also added a new chest flatten morph which should address all concerns. Updated the shape presets to use the chest flatten morph as well. Will update promo when I have a chance.
Please test this and let me know if all is in order. Just copy files and overwrite the existing ones. If all is in order I will make an official update.
Thanks
Hi there - just a note I think the zip file is missing the Zev0 folder name in presets? Not a problem if you know what you're doing but maybe others will unzip to wrong location?

Trying to convert .obj character from a video game to G8Are you trying to use it with Genesis or on it's own?
Richard is right that you have to be careful with licensing but in my experience most game companies don't get upset if you do stuff for personal use only.
If you have an object file with the character does it contain the rigging? If so you could pose it withing DS and use it that way. I'm not sure why you mention Genesis. Are you trying to make a morph? Because that won't work as the vertices on the model are different.
What game is it from? Is there a reason you wish to use DS for the fan art instead of Blender?

How did you convert it to 8.1 if you don't mind me asking? I have no idea how long, and if, the daz to Maya bridge will be updated so I can animate in Maya and bring the keys back into daz to apply the sequence to the character since they said they made it better for animation but did nothing for IK. I also use Facemotion 8 for lip sync and I tried and it does not work at all with G9 (not that I really thought it would). So if there's a way to convert it to G8 or 8.1, I might actually continue getting new characters otherwise im tapping out.
I simply made a clone of G9 for G8.1M. I used this tutorial:

Then I just used the transfer utility to transport it to G8.1M.

Victoria 9 - what a beautyRichard Haseltine said:
The toe issue may be that shoes often have their rigging simplified compared to the base, since shoes do not generally respond to individual toe moves, but the conversion risntates the base rigging for the new figure.
I have run into shoes where the designer took extreme liberties to make them work - one pair of shoes for G8F appears to delete the toes and the sole of the foot, and there are a number that apply morphs to the toes, making them smaller and more closely together than can be done without the morph.

Where are the Anatomical Elements promised on the Victoria 9 HD page ?
Female Anatomical Elements are listed under Materials.
I tried loading that, it doesn't appear to do anything. (Which makes sense, it indicates it's a material, not a morph or geograph object). Some people have stated that you need "Genesis 9 Character Essentials". Is that true? Normally the gens come with the bundle.
Yes, the anatomical GeoCraft comes in "Genesis 9 Character Essentials".
Yes, I meant that there is no promise of the models - it just says there are materials for them, if you have them from the Character Essentials.
Nice misleading answer...
Victoria 9 HD Pre Purchase Disappointment IssuesWell I was hoping the morph packs for body and head would be released by the end of this week (today, Friday), and was fairly disappointed they were not.
I wish I knew what the problem was, but we all know DAZ doesn't exactly offer free-flowing information. Is it a technical issue where the morphs aren't ready yet? Or is it just some kind of illogical release plan, which makes customers wait and wait for something that I consider "essential" to a product?
To say this is frustrating, is an understatement.Getting on the 9 train, or notbenniewoodell said:

This isn't really possible - a morph can't be a different mesh, and if it isn't broadly the same shape as the base figure you can't really use the Transfer Utility.

Next week???!! Almost may as well be next year...all the shine's worn off already as it is. Next week I'll be on to something else. Sheesh....
Daz should change their motto to "Hurry up and wait...". I had to wait for the figure after buying it. Now we're expected to buy all this **** for G9 and can't even really do anything with it until god knows when. Most of the stuff that HAS come out for G9 so far relies on those missing morphs in some way. Way to go Daz. I remember a day when Daz did most everything right - products were correct on release, the company didn't breathe a word of of a figure or software release until everything was ready to go. Wow, how times have changed.
I'll be back if and when the head and body morphs show up...

And this not being accessible these morphs like before totally sucks! These are the features which I buy new character/generations for. Now we must wait for content creators to develop morphs instead of creating some uniqueness to our own characters by ourselves. This means using this new character base for me is mostly off the table until fork over increasingly limited funds to buy content at a later date.
We have been told, there will be morph packs for G9 just as there has been for previous generations, but they haven't been released yet. The merchant resource body shapes is not meant for us mortals.
Thanks for clearing this up. It's funny that you can find them, at some astronomical price, but have to wait for them to be released. I thought these were all readily available on day one of the launch because I vaguely recall having them from the start.
What does still suck though is that some of us have spent literally thousands upon thousands of dollars on content and we're still not privileged to get some of these on day one, even if we didn't buy the top bundle or create anything other than a few images to post online.
Can any tell me how to fix this???Have you tried reloading? It looks as if the links from shape to morph adjustment are not aplying, I don't think there are any changes in DS likely to cause this.
Getting on the 9 train, or notAfter reading these comments and those in similar threads I am even more convinced that investment in this generation is not on the cards for me for quite a while - if ever. I have seen some of the renders posted for G9/V9 and I am not impressed. Sure, the close-ups that Jay showed us in the promo video are very impressive but I don't render close-ups - ever. I have yet to see anything that I couldn't see using G8 (or probably 8.1 but I don't have any 8.1 either). So why would I spend money I can't really afford on morph packs and characters for G9 when I already have plenty of those for G8 which will provide an almost infinite variety of digital humans for the foreseeable future?
I'm hoping that the DAZ developers can finally switch attention to DS5 and let the PAs take the load of providing more content for G9. Maybe they will need to come out with G10 (or whatever comes next) just to be fully compatible with DS5 which might mean a short lifespan for poor Vicky9.
Victoria 9 HD Pre Purchase Disappointment Issues
With the poses, there is no-longer any need to start from scratch. Head over into the freebie forum & you should find a G8F to G9 pose transfer script. It's not a complete solution, as you need the pose applied to G8F first, but G8F poses can now be got onto G9. Regards, Richard.outrider42 said:Catherine3678ab said:
This way gives V9 her own day of glory so to speak ;-)
I'm fairly sure that the morph bundles, etc. will follow over the next weeks, months, etc. as they usually do.
I for one am not disappointed with the Bundle although a little surprized that the a.e. have to be yet another purchase - but the price isn't bad at all. And for those down the road in time I'm sure they will appreciate that they don't have to shell out for a full Pro bundle just to get a set.
That might be one way to look at it, but I have to disagree. Genesis 8 at least offered some compatible features with G3, you could drop most G3 skins right on 8. Poses would work, and only needed a small adjustment. With 9, however, few things work on G9. You can't drop your old skins on it. Poses do not work at all. So people are truly starting all over again, and we have to remember that we have not had to start over again since 2017.
I had to look, and Genesis 8 launched on October 12, 2017. So it has been exactly 5 years since Genesis 8 launched. And frankly, people got used to Genesis 8 being "the" Daz model. People who had stuck to Victoria 4 for ages finally moved on to Genesis 8. That is what Genesis 8 accomplished. Also keep in mind that Daz was doing some wild bundling in the Genesis 8 early days. Remember how buying a bundle they gifted like 2 or even 3 Pro bundles with it? This really pushed people to take the leap that might not otherwise. I was one of them.
I also don't feel the bundle is really offering anything. One single hair, one single pose pack, 3 very not everyday clothing items (unless you wear a bikini or fetish wear everyday day), expressions, and a make up pack. It is a pretty sparse bundle. When you look at past bundles I see more in the older bundles. Victoria 8 has 2 hairs, 2 pose packs, FIVE outfits covering more variety, expressions, and 2 extra characters. V8 also had makeup included with her base, not sold separately. Granted, I suppose the makeup product with V9 has more stuff, but still, it is sold separately and considered one of of the products included with the bundle.
That just doesn't drive value to me.
So now Genesis 9 is starting over in many ways, and I would bet some good money that a lot of people are going to wait.
I like that Genesis 9 has 4 male and 4 female skins, that is pretty cool. So there's that. But I am talking about the Victoria 9 bundle itself. So after playing with these I am just sitting here thinking why would I even need Victoria 9 anyway? It is just not compelling to me. Victoria 9 is not ugly, but I am just not into her all that much. Maybe someday I'll get the character by itself.

WOW ! it's way better, thank you ! Waiting for Genesis 9 :D
All I can say about Genesis 9 so far is I am NOT impressed. No apparent way to adjust basic body shapes, which makes all the female shapes practically male. If they were going for non-binary and gender neutral, they succeeded.
There should be Basic Feminine and Basic Masculine morphs. The morph packs are being released early next week.
And why are the merchant resources listed at $10,000 ?!?!
because they are essentially for Daz PAs - they needed to be in the store for the PAs to get them 9at a discounted price) but are given a high price to discourage others.
