Doesn’t work on an iPad?
Wonderland said:
I tried it in both Firefox and Safari on my iPad Pro only got gray squares, no image. It only gives you the option of V9 and no environments or anything else and then you get grey boxes.

I don't know how it works on an iPad, but I have discovered that choosing a model doesn't seem to work. Try just using your description (it wiil automatically use Victoria 9 if you use "woman"), then click on Generate. A green square should show up in the lower lefthand corner of the boxes when it begins creating your image.
Extremely Slow for Simple Image. My attempt with Daz AI was fairly simple and fairly quick. However, the resulting image had a couple of glaring errors. I asked for a Victoria 9, in a outer space outfit, crouching with a laser pistol in left hand ,in the Solaris space station (This was not quite verbatim of what I entered), The resulting image's most serious error was that the model had three legs. She also didn't have a laser pistol, but that might not have been available for that specific item. The AI did had the model posed in a crouch and with her left arm plainly visible so I guess it knows the difference between right and left. She attached file.

This is supposed to be Victoria 9? There are zero details.
At least her fingers look sort of ok... But the eyes are still funky to me... lol

Daz AI Studio DiscussionsAre you sure that's Victoria 9? Poor dragon with only 1 wing.
FAQ needs more Q'sOkay - I think the FAQ needs work. Here some info I think is missing...
1. How was Daz AI trained? i.e., using their own sources (like Adobe's Firefly) or just taking other people's work (like Stable Diffusion)?
2. In regards to this quote in the FAQ - does this mean you're going to be selling AI-only characters in the future? Or you 'unlock' the character if you own, say, Jennie 9?
Our character products are pulled from Daz 3D’s large library of content to help direct your creative flow. These products mimic the specific style/look of the various Characters available in the Daz Store giving you a much more predictable outcome. Our Free and Paid users will have access to our core characters Victoria 9 and Michael 9 with other characters available for purchase from the store in the future that you can add to your account.
3. Who owns the rights to the image? (question #1 might influence this).

To me that shows that none of them are perfect. Both have their own issues. Vic 8.1 looks like her foot is broken while Vic 9's foot follows the shin much better. I see several issues with Vic 8.1, while Vic 9 have others. A lot of issues can be fixed, or at least improved, with changing a few JCMs or morphs, but it's time consuming.
Exactly. Victoria 9 has problems, as noted, with the bend at the collarbone (although that could also be due to differences in the pose - I have that pose pack, and the g9 and g8 versions are slightly different) and also has some issues without the additional morphs at the hip crease.
Vicky 8.1 however has some problems at the neck (look just under her jawline) and bends worse at the shoulder (a difference made even bigger with the additional morphs on g9) and most of all the awkward foot bend (although again, that could be due to differences with the poses).
My personal experience working with both generations is just that, both have their strength and weaknesses and there are certain poses that one does better then the other. While I certainly don't think that Genesis 9 is an upgrade in the Bending department, I don't feel it's some kind of significant downgrade either.
Also one other thing is that some complaints that people have about e.g. limb length, characters looking too samey etc. are due to the specific models, not the base. If you look at the work of other vendors and not just the DAZ core characters things will look different. And much is a matter of taste too: for example I like that the female g9 core models are average size instead of tall like the g8 models - I constantly had to scale them down - but for others it might be the exact opposite and now they have to scale the models up.

Welcome.
I could have spent more time fiddling with the morphs im MM1 and MM2, but IMHO Victoria 8.1 without additional morphs bends better than Victoria 9 with either UNBM or NM.
I appreciate what you did. It's helpful! All evidence indicates V8.1 bends more naturally, yes. One thing that stands out in your renders, V8.1 looks huge compared to G9. Measure metrics says V8.1 is 5'8" while V9 is a little under 5'7". Quite interesting!

I forgot to mention before that NVLink connection was only available on the RTX 3090 for the 3000 series cards. If you were wanting to combine the memory you can't on an RTX 3060.
NVLink was also available for RTX 2080 and 2070 Super
Yes that is correct. OP was looking for another 3060 though. For the 3000 series it was only available on the RTX 3090. I would not necessarily recommend going back as far as the 2000 series cards. They are still capable, but it has been quite some time since they were released. If money is being spent to get new hardware it would probably be better suited for less used cards to last until they can consider the next upgrade. You never know how the previous owners used their cards and the kind of work that is needed for rendering is computationally intense. Years of expansion and contraction from heating and cooling cycles will have degraded the quality of the solder joints which may need reflow to get it working again if it breaks. With every generation you go back, the more of a risk you take. Though you may be able to find some lightly used 2000 series still.
Also NVLink is a dying technology. From what I remember PCI Express gen 5 is supposed to have the bandwidth to be comparable to some early generations of NVLink and so they are likely not offering it on the 5000 series like how they took it away for the 4000 series. There was also an advancement in data throughput utilizing a kind of connection between SSD memory and GPUs called RTX IO which was a kind of hardware acceleration for handling data. This is the kind of stuff that allows for streaming of high resolution textures from disk on the fly to keep up with some of those early UE5 tech demos. Though I think they were using Direct Storage at the time. I don't even really know what utilizes RTX IO at the moment. My guess is maybe some scientific applications. I always suspected that with the data being able to transfer so quickly between SSD and the GPU, that we could potentially overcome the limitations of onboard V Ram capacity. Can you imagine being able to use the entirety of your SSD for storing a scene to render in Iray? You could probably render a small town. I've always been hopefull that it is all leading to a real time path rendering setup that we can all have fun in VR or something like that.
Thankfully 12 GB on the 3060 can get you plenty far with the number of resources you can render in Iray so OP should be ok if they did go with another 3060. I used to be limited to 4 GB when I was rocking dual GTX 980 cards. I miss the wacky designs they used to have where they would duct tape multiple cards together. With 4 GB I used to be limited to about 3 to 4 Victoria 6 models in a lightly decorated environment. Now I have 24 GB to work with. It is freedom at a price that I paid off a while back.
For doing some AI work, the more memory you can get, the better. It's a bit hard to get 48 GB of V Ram without having to pay for some premium professional cards. From what I hear they are not great for gaming though which is another hobby of mine. I would rather get the consumer grade cards because of that. Still, advancements are being made to optimize AI work to run on limited V Ram systems. I think as low as 4 GB.

MimicMolly's Renders & WIPsEdit Apr. 3, 2024: I really wasn't expecting to see that AI would be allowed here, since so many people are so vocally agaist it. I'm pleased, since that means I can now share/upload my edits here too. I've reposted the ones I've made so far, since they were actually just 4 pics. XD

I know this is my art thread, but I was not expecting to see a pic using base Victoria 4 in my online microbiology lecture.

(This video is discussing protozoans, specifically Naegleria fowleri, and this particular slide is showing a product for nasal rinsing.)
My professor called her a "computer-generated person."

I've noticed that poses made for G8 and converted to G9 look terrible...not sure if the poses in that set were designed separately for each figure.
I haven't had bad experience with bends once I realized that you need to make sure all the pose enhancement toggles are turned on. Elbows was always my pet peeve with G8/8.1...and with G9, I was pleasantly surprised.
...so what about Riversoft Art's Bone Minion for Genesis 9 or Zev0's Pose Converter for G3/8/8.1 to G9?
The only one of those I have is the later...and it's been my experience that poses coverted from G8/8.1 to G9 look weird in the shoulder/neck area. I haven't tried from G3, but I would expect the same result, given how similar G3 is to G8. My only guess is that the different bone structure in the shoulders/neck is the culprit.
In my example, I put G8M (left) next to the base G9 (right). It's an extreme pose example, but it does illustrate the shoulders/neck issue very well.
