Victoria 4 and Michael 4 are special in that they are still favored by many Poser users and new products for them are mostly from other stores.

True, they are special. They are still good and don't rely on new technology that is not compatible with other software. The fact that people are still making great characters with V4/M4 illustrates that they are not defunct. Likewise I think it unfair to claim G3 is "in the rearview mirror". G8 has just arrived and whilst G8 may prove to be an improvement over G3 overall, in the end.  I would say that G8 still has a lot to prove.

Real Curly does fit just fine!

Here I mixed my converted Karen 7 with Victoria 8. The skin is Karen's, but I modified the settings. The earrings, necklace, and dress are all autofit from G3F. The eye materials are from one of the G8F characters, maybe Duffy; I forgot which one i used. The dress texture is from PD Iray Shader Kit 2. The lighting and background are from a free HDRI from textures.com. I recolored the Real Curly hair, too, to coordinate with her brows. I haven't tried the Oh My Brows on G8F yet. Oh, and I used the G8F Great Lashes, too. There's always more to try and more to learn.

This looks great, what did you do with the skin? It's the best I've seen!

So, I picked up the Genesis 8 female and Victoria 8.  The following is just a test to see if I can use my current workflow to create a morph.  Hooray!  It worked.  I plan to learn Blender for future vertex modeling, but in the meantime, I was able to use Carrara. 

Steps to start an alien G8F head in Carrara for a Studio morph.

1 - load G8F in Studio.  Export as a collada file.

2 - load G8F collada in Carrara.

3 - delete eyelashes skins and rigging.  delete the G8F rigging.

4 - select the G8F skin.  enter the vertex modeling room.  select any polygon to get the menu to appear.  set smoothing to 0.

5 - use vertex tools to create the morph shape.

6 - export as an obj, use the Daz Studio morph target preset

7 - start new Studio scene and load G8F

8 - use Edit : Figure : Morph Loader Pro

9 - Load and Dave morph as usual

I thought the OP was talking about the icon that you use to download the product via DAZ Connect is broken, similar to how my, hmmm, either Michael 4 or Victoria 4.2 icon has been broken in Smart Content for a very long time.

I was inspired by this thread.

Courtyard came out in 2004, that's Victoria 4. Most of the building textures are Mec4D stone textures, though I had to preserve original stuff for the detailed reliefs. Getting the stone block textures to line up with the geometry of blocks along edge was a royal pain. I think it ended up tiled 4.57 or something, and then there was a building where the scale of two connected walls was different. NNNGH.

Figure is Victoria with an elite texture (heh) converted through NGS Anagenessis.

Shigi hair was horrible but made it work as best I could, using Mec4D's Unshaven 2 hair shaders. The texture maps for Shigi hair stink -- they are angled so not easily replaced, have weird UV, and to top it off the flow of the hair has some rather obvious sharp bends in it that I pretty much couldn't avoid without redoing everything. Still, with some distance and the overall effect, it ended up mostly decent.

Finally, ran through some NIK filters to make it look a little photographic. I probably should have reduced vibrance a little, but oh well.

So it's no Stonemason or Tomalin, but for positively creaky old content, I'm happy!

Experimenting with older content. Most of this stuff is 12+ years old (that's Victoria 4), but with new textures and so forth. The Shigi hair is... tricky. The maps for it kind of stink and the UV layout makes it hard to work with. But hey, made it work.

Michael 7 came out five months after Victoria 7, so if that's any indication, then we won't be seeing Michael 8 anytime soon. So a huge sale around that, like around V8 is not likely in the coming weeks. We already had the summer sale. What else is there? :) Lots of flash sales maybe! :)

Ya know, it occurs to me that the V8 Pro at $66 with another 30% off is $46.  So, if you bought all the Victoria bundles in the past, you'd now save $20 off V8.  You wouldn't be getting a bunch more stuff because you already own it all.  However, if you hadn't purchased any of the items in the various Victoria pro bundles over the years (unlikely I know), and bought V8 at $66, now, you'd save around $300 and get a ton of cool items.

Overall, I'd have to say that the V8 Pro deal is okay for long term Daz buyers.  But, it's a fantastic deal for newbies that don't own any of that stuff.  Now, if Daz made it "Buy V8 Pro Bundle for $66 and choose 3 other pro bundles you don't already own (1 out of each previous generation, to be fair)," I'd be all over that deal in flash!  Right now, my discount is $6 off and I would get a few cool items that I didn't already have.  But, most of these are fairly redundant poses and clothing items.  So, I'm not hating the deal.  But, I'd really love to be able to take advantage of the same savings that a new Victoria buyer would get and pick out some full pro bundles that I haven't already bought most of the items.  For instance, I'd pick Ivan 7 Pro, Nineva 6 or Gia 6 Pro, and Aiko 5 Pro.  Or, if I have to do only women, I'd pick Anneka Demon Pro or Rune 7, or Josie 7, or Arabella 7.  All of those bundles, I only own a few of the items.  So, it would be a much better deal for me.

Anyway, just a thought.  I'm not poo pooing what's being offered.  But, a "choose your own" option might be good for those of us that already own all of the Victorias and the majority of their bundle items. It would certainly get me off the fence.

Agree with this so much. I've been watching the deals and the incentives to buy the new Victoria 8 for past loyal buyers isn't that great, compared to the incentive for someone who has never bought any Victoria Pro model to buy. As it is, when I look at what I paid for past Victoria Pro model packages, even with the additional 10% discount (I'm not sure how it went from me buying 2 past pro models to 3 while I was travelling the Western US...) at $46, that is still steep for a Pro package that doesn't offer a lot of content I am interested in. 
I think I'll be sticking with Gen3, Gen2, Gen1 and Generation 4 for the foreseeable future. As DAZ prices seem to trend up, my DAZ purchases have been trending way down. Haven't even been checking in while on this vacation out of fear of missing a great stacking sale, like on vacations past. But, on a lot of items that have been coming up, I've been finding myself thinking, "I wonder how hard it would be to model that in Hexagon myself..." Maybe I'll spend less time shopping and more time modelling going forward.

I own everything in each pro bundle except for 2 items.  I have no orange banner.  I also passes on everything else that required me to buy V8 to get an additional discount.  Considering the amount of money I have spent her in the last year and a half,not having that orange banner pretty much seals the deal for me.  Won't be picking up V8 and won't be picking up anything that requires me owning her for an addtional discount.  I will wait until next year or later when she is either steeply discounted or free..

Check under 'My Account' Messages and you should have a message now with a discount. I do now and I didn't a few days again on release although the discount I was given was still given and still the same, then and now, message or orange banner or not. I THINK I finally got the "Redz version" with Singular Blues morph worked out. I transferred Monique 7 and Karen 7. The only issue that jumps out to me is that the eye textures from the Genesis 3 materials don't seem to fit right some times. When that happened, I just used Genesis 8 eye materials.

I also found Genesis 8 Female fits for Redz Short Cropped Hair and Business hair over on Renderosity freebies. Thanks, Redz!

Real curly, the brows and the body hair (if you're making a male G8F) autofit just fine, so I left those til last. I suppose it's be no harm to update them too though, so they appear in the Genesis 8 folder.
