Forgotten ghosts - .3dmf files
All is not lost.
I found out scouring forums where people were stuck with the same problem that quite a few of these models exist in more modern formats (.skp and .dae) in Google 3D Warehouse (now owned by Trimble).
Like these ones (that I've tested), for example:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=e2bb07de7a82c468f9c1628d84b1ea48
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=6cbb61f12311fb354a8cd87a0f8116c4&prevstart=0
Some are missing from what I see, but I think that the Google library has more building overall than the Great Buildings website. Of course, you don't have all the other interesting architectural stuff with them (photos, floor plans etc.)

Some of them from Mafia II also, he does have some decent conversions there alright.

Hope someone can help. I'm looking for a 57 (or 58) Plymouth Fury, like Steven King's Christine.I use Poser and Bryce so something that'll import in to either of those would be cool.
Meanwhile, my latest design, including the 51 Ford F1 truck. There are several on the gta sites, here's one: http://www.gtainside.com/en/download.php?do=cat&id=396&start=7&orderBy;=

:-)
CAR AND BIKE LOVERS THREAD - MARK IIIBeen playing around with several car but I'm not satisfied with them so I thought I'd drag this one out again and do a new render with it just for fun. Oh, by the way, that's a Sketchup 1958 Plymouth rendered in Poser Pro 2012.
Spirit of PunkIt was fun to rebuild the carriage and gradually learn a bit of modelling. But at the end I completely messed up.
There are holes in the cabin, the roof is not rainproof.- yes, the door is fake.
- I looked for some spiral staircases.
- I use SketchUp-Pro evaluation Edition. Gives me a few hours to convert models; not for modelling, just converting to .obj.
- will remove the windows, see how that will look.
- I've seen the prop in the Rendo store. Nice.
- I have even tried a Fifties Airstream caravan, just to see how it would look behind the 'Spirit'.(see pic)The Hackers got to my XP Complaint Threadps1borg said:Kyoto Kid said:Frank0314 said:We bought zbrush and have free upgrade for life. ...I can only dream about software that costs as much as a major appliance or eighteen months of groceriesScuptris is free :>)
I can't run Sculptris on my laptop though :(
I mean, I can install it and run it just fine, but as soon as I open it the interface and viewports screw up. It's hard to explain... It kind of looks like windows explorer when the computer is freezing up or is using a ton of resources.Let's say I have only my desktop wallpaper and some icons shown, with a quarter of the Recycle Bin window shown in the lower left corner. Now I open Sculptris and the toolbars and menus are visible, but I can still see a frozen version of my desktop where the viewport 'should' be. If I alt-tab out and open more windows or make any changes and then alt-tab back into Sculptris, the viewport again reflects that. I can't see anything in the menus or see what's going on in the viewport at all.
SketchUp acts the same way =/
They're both unusable on my laptop, but Sculptris worked just fine on my desktop...Spirit of PunkYeah, I'm not a modeler either. About the most I do is strip some parts off of something else and put them together. Of course I did this one in photoshop.
Unfortunately, I tend not to think of sketchup when looking for models

http://www.daz3d.com/immortal-eleganceSadly I've been down the GTA route before and don't have any software capable of converting the downloads so I can import them into either Poser or Bryce (on a Mac).
I already looked in the Google warehouse and there is one possibility, but again, it's going to be a complicated job to re set all the materials in Bryce because it's not a particularly friendly set of meshes and there are thousands of them which would all need renaming and the materials re-setting. I've downloaded it anyway as a last resort. It looks nice when I render it in Sketchup though (see below). :)
Yes, I'd seen the Immortal Elegance and it's on my Wish List as that really will be the ideal one to use (from past experience)... I can't buy it until I earn some more DAZ credit and I was hoping to get started on my Plymouth renders sooner than that's likely to happen.
Thanks muchly for your help, I really appreciate it. :)
CAR AND BIKE LOVERS THREAD - MARK IIIAre you planning to use Daz Studio to render, if you do you'll have to save the file as a google earth object then rename the extension to .zip.
That will give you the texture maps.
Do a search for obj exporter plugin for sketchup, that will give you the option to save as an obj. Not all conversions will look good though, it depends on the model. If your in luck the surfaces will be separate which will help with re-applying new surface shaders.
There are some good free shaders at ShareCG for the chrome, glass and carpaint surfaces.CAR AND BIKE LOVERS THREAD - MARK IIITheSavage64 said:This has probably been asked before, but it's a long thread to look through so here goes.

I am looking at sketchup. I read the license, but got confused. What can I do or not do with the models that I make in sketchup? Also their database of models can I convert them to obj and use them in the programs such as DS, Poser, or Carrara or vue. I am also trying Vue out once I reinstall it.Star Trek Builders Unite 4 : In a Runtime Darkly!PDSmith said:mdbruffy said:Paul, your morphs are looking great. Where'd you get the NG corridor you're using? I'm going to need one for the last 2 Nova Trek books. Is it on our list?
The original came from Sketchup Warehouse but the conversion came with a ton of broken or overlapping figures. So this one is an almost complete rebuild from the ground up.
I'm no good at making runtimes but can box it up as a obj/mtl file if you like.

Guess I should of mentioned. the skirt in my images is HOT Uniform http://www.daz3d.com/hot-uniforms-secretary. and not part of couragous as expected. - sorry.
Tech aspects for the skirt: I've removed the belt and buckle from the skirt (can't get rid of the belt loops) I mirrored the fabric of the jacket and then dialed it down a bit to show texture differences.
An obj file would be fine. Do the belt loops have seperate material zones? Maybe you can just turn them invisable.
