Dear Daz family, I'm new to the daz 3D community and I got several Pro packs when they were on special which includes animals/actors/anthropomorphic creatures like the lizard man, centaur and Minotaur along with Michael 4 Victoria 4 (their variance) and freak 4. I'm overwhelmed with trying to fit clothing and understanding the mechanics of all these conversions, UV mapping, converting,batching, skins,morphs and what not. Also a lot of the clothing I get doesn't seem to fit right on other characters and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Perhaps I'm just not understanding the process. I was wondering if there was a flow chart available, for example, an M4 character might have an arrow pointing to what generation it is, followed by what converters/uv maps/batching/etc (with links to purchasable content) depending on your goal. The flowchart would eventually lead to the current Genesis, which I assume is the goal since it'll have more options available and flexibility. Would Following the flowchart in reverse allow you to change from a Genesis model back to the previous one? Would there be a reason to do so? If not a flow chart, how about a spreadsheet or a web page with drop-down menus that you select a model name or version and then it would list all that was said above. Is there anything of that nature available? A visual aid would be a big help here. Thank you for your time and any advice would be appreciated.

No, that is no joke, unfortunately.

What "required product" means is that you will need Michael 4 (in this case) to apply the shape morphs and skin texture, so the character looks like "Zaid" and not like Michael 4.

It makes no mention of any clothing, so the clothing is most definitely not included. It's a bit confusing when you see promotional images with clothing and all, but rule of thumb is, Characters, unless stated otherwise in the product description, have no hair and no clothing.

But the bundles are the exception rather than the rule.

EDIT: Outside of the freebie section (in case you are doing commecrial renders, make sure that they are licensed for commecrial use!), there's also the option of joining the PC+ Club. They have a huge back catalogue of older items (since you are using M4, which is an older character). Oh, and also, I'm not sure how familiar you are with the compatibilities between the generations, but there's barriers between them, and you can't always directly use morphs, skins and clothing between the generations.

Anyway, in the product page it's written that the only required product is "Michael 4 base" (which I own).

Maybe you were joking, but are you sure that i need to buy clothes and after apply the "Zaid" materials on them?

Have you actually bought any clothes for M4 yet? A character like Zaid comes with the figure shape and skin texture (and for this specific character, but not all, some hair options), but no clothing.

If so, you should find them in Content Library tab under Poser Formats.

If not then you could buy some at the store - here's a link for M4 compatible products - as a PC+ member you can find quite a lot at $1.99 apiece. I'm a newbie Daz3D user, so first accept my apoligies for the trivial question.

I'm writing because I'm experiencing issues during the setup of Zaid.

-I bought the package

-installed everything with the "install manager"

-opened Daz3d

-Created a new Michael4 guy...

But after that I don't know how to dress up the poor naked M4 who is laying on my 3D scene.

I mean, can you use the poses for a particular figure on another generation, without converting it?  Like, can Genesis 2 Female poses be used on G3F or G8F?  Or can Michael 4 poses be used on Genesis, or Genesis 2?

Or do the poses for every generation have to be converted to use them on another generation?

Weirdly enough, his predecessor figure, Guy 4 Michael 4 (withdrawn from the store shortly before The Guy 7 came out) actually wasn't "The Guy 4", although she was "The Girl 4"; probably because he was then a PA item and not a Daz Original.

For my fellow anal retentives: Daz calls their numbered humanoid characters "Core," as verified by this and this (Edward 8 is missing).

He never thought that he was going to see again today the beautiful girl he saw last April, she almost bumped into him! "Hi! I'm Eddie and I get burnt by the sun very easily as you can see and uhm there are some spots on my back that I can't reach, if you would be so kind to help me? Please, 'cause there's no one else I know here on the beach..." Gabriella and her girlfriends Tiana and Jeane went for a little wandering around the beach 'cause they got a little bored, the beach was so empty, not a single cute guy around, when all of a sudden...
