Olympia 8
Yeah, I the Genesis 8 characters seem to require a bit more thought to lighting and render settings than the previous generations - quite a bit like real life skin. Different lighting and render settings can make a pretty big difference. The first image is Victoria 8's texture with the default lighting and render settings. They all have the same textures and the same skin texture settings, the only thing I changed was the lighting and render settings.
Jaderail is looking down on the STUPID THREAD XWhy cannot I get my pjs on with a single click?
Did they come with a Wearable preset?
Nope. They are not a set. It is a Victoria's Secret pair of pants and a generic top.
Do the pants have Supported Shapes for Victoria 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8?
It's a secret

Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 9I added this to the GenX2 tips post (in my signature)
I did a head and body separate, but the body is moving the head morphs, so I am going to redo it. Oh, the hunt for the morphs. You apparently can do it with the morphs tab in GenX, but I was curious where the files were and this was just easy. So this will save you about ten minutes of looking it up, if you're not good with files. Or just being me on any given day. So this is what I added:
EDIT: This will also help you- Let's say you messed up and want to delete the morphs. I didn't try the morphs tab, I used (and this is when transferring a V4 onto a G3F)
Content > Data > Daz 3D (note the space) > Genesis 3 > Female > Morphs > D3D Gen X > Victoria 4About EULAWhat do you mean by projects? For mdoels or texture sets Chohole is correct, but if you mean finished 2D renders (still images or animations, not textures) then generally you can use the texture images and models as you like (the only, partial, exception I am aware of is the Anne Marie Goddard Digital Clone for Victoria 3).
Searching for comforming head/shoulder pieceI am looking for conforming head/neck/shoulder clothing (for Victoria 3 and 4) similar to what the Danish Special Forces/Frogmen wear. The net worn over the helmet and goes down to the shoulders.Public Pool - It's a Trap!Yeah, it looks nice at first, but even before the missing door, there are a lot of little figgly things that really bother me about it, like the unsafe placement and design of the hi-dive board, the lack of any kind of a lifeguard chair, equipment, depth markings or any kind of underwater lighting system and the really odd idea of putting the changing rooms at the top of not one, not two but three flights of presumbly wet concrete stairs without any kind of handrail. If it's not a trap, at the very least it's a pool that would never pass any safety inspection. Fortunately, there are a lot of other pools out there that work perfectly well in Iray.
I think it's inspired by Victorian designs - I thought it was going to be the Manchester Victoria baths, which has recently been in the news as they try to rstore it, but although there are some similarities it isn't very close.
Beta - G8F Carrara presetaww major bummer. olympia has booboo toes too.
not as drastic as Victoria 8.
it looks like the same verts area affected. around the toe nails on toe 1,3,5Change Michael to VictoriaThe original Genesis, which uses Michael 5 and Victoria 5 and every other character with 5 in the name, can do this pretty much out of the box. For Genesis 2, 3 & up it's a little bit more complicated but still do-able. Non-Genesis figures are harder still, if not impossible to do the kind of swap you're talking about. Genesis (not Genesis 2 or Genesis 3) and the M5 and V5 characters are your best bet for that.
Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2Ariana Grande ?
That one and also Cathy HD for Victoria 7. I want to say that there's one other that resembles her but maybe the Aria model is the one that I'm thinking of.
Olympia 8I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought the skins on 8 are not as good as the 7s.
My issue with Olympia 8, well really all of the 8 toons so far is the lackluster skin shaders, they all look like wax figures with the exception of a couple. It seems with each new generation the skin textures and shaders get worse, not better. Which is why there are a lot of content creators redoing skin shader kits all over the place. They were not happy, and we arent happy :p
To me, they look a bit homogenous, and seem to maybe lack details? Perhaps they're getting lost in SSS/Backscattering/Translucency type effects?
For easy comparison, here's Victoria 8, Olympia 8, and a modified version of ThePhilosopher's excellent Teen Princess Leila:

I believe that the longer G8F is around, the more "detailed" textures we'll see.
- Greg
The Princess Leila render is beautiful. May I ask who you mixed her with? Is it Olympia or Victoria?
Thanks, ALLIEKATBLUE. She's a custom sculpted G3F (much sharper features than Leila to make her look older/more mature). I don't own any G8 stuff, yet. She's something I'm currently working on, and thought it illustrated the comments made by jakiblue and D.Robinson, which I agree with.
- Greg
Well, she's lovely, definitely something I would buy.

Olympia 8Reading all the comments makes me feel like I've dropped into the Twilight Zone. I think she looks stunning!! Really beautiful!
it is amusing don't you think that usually the complaint is each figure is toooo pretty/perfect not average everday looking or is youngish looking needs to be more mature older looking or toooo skinny and then they give us that or try to and then still complaints saying she's ugly or fat or old or butch the only female figure I've seen relised that everyone raved over was Star. Oh well can't please everyone. I also look at the related extras you can buy which gives you more an idea of the newer character/s some interesting like the add on clothing textures or poses and so on as sometimes these better display the potential of the new characters and there are a few there that show off both the tough gritty side as well as more softer side of Olympia, Victoria and Gen8 as well as some of the add on characters. Got pro yeah maybe could've just gone for the base but want a few things to get going yeah she and Vicky can use older stuff but still nice to have few of their own things too and I think the archery set is ok too has that action comic suoer hero vibe feel to it would buy some of the extras if could afford
lol Yeah. Can't please everyone, that's for sure. One thing I think MIGHT be causing (or at least contributing to) the complain-fest is that there is a lot of really negative stuff going on in the world right now, and I think that might be affecting both people's moods as well as making them a LOT more picky about what they spend their money on. (That's just a theory though.)
I absolutely love Olympia 8 and will be getting her as soon as I'm able to get some money coming in. :)
I think you'll like her you know she may make a good starting point for a G8 version of Lady Death
yeah always negative now days in everything just look at anything on facebook even a cute and funny aniaml pic or video enrages people
some say O looks too manly maybe some she looks like a tough lady but there are plenty in rl do but same time there are a few promo renders that make her look softer and others that make her look like an average don't wanna say plain but as someone that doesn't stand out as for some saying looking like Vicky well looking at the different shots I think even in the base promos some are featuring showing what she looks like with Vicky skin or part of her dialed in but not saying it like others promos have when they've displayed other characters shapes dialed combined or skin textures used
hahah She WOULD make a nice base for Lady Death! :) I'm still working on trying to find a couple of really good white-haired hair shaders.
She's pretty much perfect for Lady Death. I'm definitely looking forward to getting her!

I've been experimenting to get white hair; trouble is, it takes on colour very easily from its environment.
There wasn't a suitable greyscale texture in the Liv hair, so I created one and lightened it. Head inset had a tiny bit of yellow in the shader; the main shot had less.
Not bad! It's still a bit blond. Super light colored hair can be really tricky. Getting a straight white color is crazy hard for me - at least getting it to look photo realistic.
I have a friend who is albino, and his hair is white, yet always has other tints, and usually very slightly blond, but does depend on the light from his surroundings.
Change Michael to VictoriaI was wondering if I could change a character on my scene from one thing to another? Like male to female... or possibly in this case Michael to Victoria without changing anything else about the character. Same coloring, shading pose... etc. Can I just selct the caracter and change it to a different character?
Olympia 8yeah, there's no readme for Olympia 8 at all.
@Ildanach, yep i've put in a ticket for that. The only response I've had so far is support replying and asking me for the product name and product sku so they can test it... :headdesk: (not sure why they wanted the name of the product and sku when I stated in the ticket it was OLYMPIA 8.......) So I'm still waiting for a reply.

Indeed she does! I stand corrected. Not sure how I missed the brows the first time around. Cheers for that.
The UV set for Olypmia 8's brows is showing as "Default UVs" for me. No mention of Victoria 8 UV set being required. Though I do have Victoria 8 installed. Not sure why it's giving you problems. Did you submit a ticket?
a readme filelist should say where the uv dsf should be
file list is empty http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/44303/file_list
OK, error confirmed.
If you have Olympia 8 but DO NOT have Victoria 8, Olympia's eyebrow materials will throw an error requesting Victoria 8. I was able to duplicate the issue by going into the Victoria 8 Eyebrows directory listed in the error message and removing the default.dsf file
I unzipped one of the Olympia eyebrow materials and ... quite honestly, I don't understand why Daz didn't see and address this error, because it is quite obvious.
At the beginning of the material file for Eyebrow 01:
{
"file_version" : "0.6.0.0",
"asset_info" : {
"id" : "/People/Genesis%208%20Female/Characters/Victoria%208/Eyebrows/Materials/Iray/Eyebrow%20Mat%2001.duf",
"type" : "preset_material",Elsewhere in the file, the error in question:
{
"url" : "name://@selection#materials/Eyebrows:?uv_set",
"keys" : [ [ 0, "/data/DAZ%203D/Genesis%208/Victoria%208%20Eyebrows/UV%20Sets/DAZ%203D/Base/default.dsf#default" ] ]
},Both of those should say "Olympia%208".
Finding this issue took a very short amount of time with a text editor.
I don't know if there are other instances within those files; I stopped looking once I found that specific issue. And it is, of course, in all of the eyebrow materials.
That said, it would be difficult for their QA/tech support people to see, because I'll bet they don't have a single system in the building that's used for troubleshooting that DOESN'T have Victoria 8 on it, and if Victoria 8 is properly installed, you won't see the error.
THAT said ... it literally took a couple of minutes with a text editor to find the problem.
If you're willing to go through and do global edits, you would need to change the file extension all of Olympia's eyebrow materials -- turn them into zip, 7z, or gzip files, such as Eyebrow 01.duf.gzip -- decompress the files so that you have plain .duf again, then globally edit the files to remove all of the "Victoria" text and replace it with "Olympia" text. (The file exists in the equivalent Olympia 8 Eyebrows directory; I checked. Whether it works properly or not, heaven only knows.)
But we shouldn't have to do that.

Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 9I made a few changes to the tips for that: so if you copied/pasted the tips, you might want to use the new one. I also made it a new paragraph on how to name them, so it's easier to read. And I added at the top that the V4 product was sold at Rendo. You're not going to be the only one wondering how I did that. :) I also put a link in my sig for for the tips. Can't guarantee it will always be there, but for the foreseeable future, it will be.
So now you have your morphs. Load up your target figure (the figure you're putting this on, such as Genesis 3) and now to apply those morphs, using the Shaping pane. Find them fast.
9.) Make sure you have Genesis 3 or your target selected in the Scene. Then choose it in the Shaping pane. Your morphs will then be > Actor > Generation X
10.) And also in the Shaping pane, the head will be: Genesis 3 Female (whatever your target is) > Head > Generation X> VIctoria 4 (whatever your source was)
