History and release dates of all Poser / Daz figures?
If I remember correctly... "Pozette" and "Dork" where the characters that came with Poser 4. If you find the Poser 4 release date, they are one in the same.
THANKS! I WAS ABLE TO FIND THOSE AT WIKIPEDIA.
Are you looking for just the base figures, or the primary characters released for them?
I REALLY JUST WANT THE "BIG" FIGURES LIKE MICHAEL, VICTORIA, DAVID, FREAK, THE KIDS, HIRO, AIKO, STEPHANIE. I MIGHT ADD SOME OF THE MINOR CHARACTERS LIKE LEE, RYDER, JESSIE, ETC.
btw/ just an FYI. The Genesis, Genesis 2, Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 Female release dayes are the same as their corresponding Victoria (5, 6, 7, and 8)
THANKS!
If I dig through my old emails I can get you release dates. The last time I deleted Daz3d emails was back in 2012...
AGAIN, THANK YOU!

History and release dates of all Poser / Daz figures?I'm doing an article which frequently references figures by their age (the point being, there's still a lot of life left in old figures, even the old P4 "Dork"). But I'm having a lot of trouble finding release years for all the various figures and major characters. Is anyone aware of a single site that lists them all, PARTICUARLY MICHAEL. There is a Wikipedia page that lists Victoria, which is all nice and good, but if there's one about Michael, I can't find it.
All help greatly appreciated!

New guy full of questionsI suppose it depends on what you want to do with it. Daz is great for buying ready made items at really competative prices and creating still images. It's probably not the best for animations as that's not its primary purpose.
That would be more Blender's role ?
I've ended up buying all the characters, so that I can use whatever props I want. Yes the prices are expensive for the older generation stuff,
The older generation is more expensive ? I don't get that...
but Daz has a sale every day, and mega sales at least once a month. If you buy platinum membership you will automatically and alway get 30% discount on any Daz original product, including michael / victoria as well as many other items for between 1.99 and around 4.99.
On top of that daz often discounts the M4/v4 items by a further 80%, gen 1 by 70%, gen 2 by 60% gen 3 by 50%.
Right now for example they're running a clearence sale. if you buy 3 new items, you will get 70% off any daz original. So you add 3x$2 plat club items into your cart, use your $6 voucher for those, and then in effect it hasn't cost you anything. You then add michel 4 into your cart- $29. After the automatic 30% discount it's $21. take off the 70% discount and it's now $6.30.
Other times you wont have to buy a new release to qualify for the discount, so you can use your voucher on m4 and get it much cheaper.
That's great to know ! What is the detail of that voucher ?
So yes, the base price is $30 but you can always get it much cheaper if you're willing to wait. In fact the other day they gave the M4 bundle away for free.
Wow ! So maybe I should wait in case that happens again ?
Because you can export any of the items as an OBJ file, it is possible to take it into blender and customize it any way you like. I do it all the time.
You can use the rendered image commercially, but you can't use the 3d object itself. So if you are creating an image of a knight standing in front of a castle, using the props that you bought in Daz, you will be able to use that image as a commercial book cover. If you want to export the 3d model into the unreal engine and use it as a character in a game, then you won't be allowed to do that unless you buy a game license first, and the game license only covers daz original items.
Thanks a lot for this advice man, it helps tremendously !
Why are most of the new DAZ Store offerings DAZ Studio only?If you dig a little deeper thru the forums you will find several long and sometimes convoluted threads on the whole issue of decreasing Poser support. It is a rather heated topic and has caused no end of argument, frustration and confusion on all sides. Not to mention driven the mods into fits trying to keep things civil. Anyway, from what I understand now, Daz (the Company) has made so many improvements to their figures such as Victoria, Michael, etc. in the newest generations that they are technically incompatible with Poser so it is in Smith Micro's hands to catch up with that progress, or not, as they so choose. There's also the question of time and effort; a PA who produces for both programs has to do twice as much work as one who is supporting Studio only but for less return on their labour since the demand is growing for more Genesis 3 /Genesis 8 products. So for most it's purely a business decision to drop Poser support in favor of what earns them a living. Can't really fault 'em for that now can we?
That said, I keep hoping for the situation to improve so that neither side loses out. But considering how complicated this issue is, I'm not expecting to see the next version of Genesis being anywhere Poser-compatible. Even with the world's biggest sledgehammer trying to wallop it in there. ;-)
Glute and Breast Control Genesis 8 (Commercial)Did you open the Puppeteer pane first?
No, but I just did this morning. Received the following error (see attached image). Then I loaded G8 into the view pane selected her and tried to load Puppeter support again and still no puppeteer window.
The log file is too long to post here. I attached it as a .txt file.
I think I know what it is. Try this. Make sure Genesis 8 is loaded in scene first before opening the pane and applying the preset.
I was doing that and it did not work. I just updated to 4.9.4.122 Pro edition and it still does not work. I open DS. I load Genesis 8 female. I double click on the breast control puppeteer support icon and get an error because G8 is not selected. I click on Genesis 8 to select her and double click on the puppeteer support icon again and the load box flashes for less than a second and no puppeteer window come up. Same thing with G8 Glute Control and G3 Breast control. I'm stumped. It has to be something with my system settings as it seems that no one else is having this issue.
Here are the last few lines if the log file after I cleared the scene and loaded Victoria 8 then clicked on the Puppeteer support Control Icon again.

Pose Blender is very interesting, isn't it?I just did a test in the new Pose blender between Victoria 7 and Olympia 8 and I was able to transfer Victorias pose to Olympia.
But with som clipping though if I transfered 100% of the pose, could be because olympia 8 has a bigger body morph than Victoria 7?
Thank you, mats76. But that's what Bone Collector can do. https://www.daz3d.com/bone-doctor-pose-control
I Think this is an enhance version of it. The buyer of this version is just luckier than the previous one.
Bone Doctor and Pose Blender are separate products. Pose Blender is not an enhancement of Bone Doctor. Pose Blender, as JonStark stated, blends any two poses IF the bone names are the same. Therefore, it cannot blend all bones between generations, except for G3 and G8 as they have the same bone hierarchy. Bone Doctor contains a set of scripts for modifying the bones, such as relax, symmetry, etc, but does not do blending between 2 poses.

Your opinion and views are needed. There are less items in Smart Content out of the box, than in the Content library which makes sense. Only what one plans to use the most --which I can choose to add. The major problem for me is the ability to find a specific prop, or hair or garment etc because of the wide inconsistencies of who ever names the things. I absolutely dislike the naming system, for example, G3 being called Victoria number something "Countess Bizar' for LucyAnne7. What the heck? I bought a G3 model to fit a G3 model. Lets start there. And maddeningly, the search on the site doesn't not limit to search term, let's say Genesis 3. No, you get G2 and now G8 and so forth. Its worse when you actually buy something, and don't remember the naming system. It gets installed sometimes by some other naming, like intials for an artist.
For example, I know I purchased the dogsled product a few years ago but I don't remember when. I wanted to install on my latest DAZversion for a project. I also assumed that dog sled or dogsled or just sled would pull up the item. No. It's now called Mush Hounds Sled Pack, which must be different from what it was when I purchased it, since it does not show as purchased in the online Product Libarya-(I've noticed this several times for old purchases, another example, I bought "Tootsie Hair" which is now called "Classic Rolled Hair"). So I tried "sled" again, "mush" and "hounds". Problem was it was not in the Smart Content but also not found in the Content Library. I push the Content Maintenace button, but still nothing found in my query. I often use the DM tool to find stuff, copy the path and search in my directory-but you have to do it recently so you can find the order and "know the name'. So that's where the DAZ installer is very helpful. In details, you can retrieve the name, and find the path it was installed to.
After a while, I repurchased it, downloaded with the DM, and I found one bit of the product package in the Content Pane. I make it "show in Smart Content", explore product, then I categorize it the way I want to find it. I have captured an itty bitty piece of the darn thing. This is the real value I've learned for the Smart Content pane which, when you use the pop up menu with "Explore Product", which will pull all the associated mats, props, poses, etc. I quickly select all, and categorize them the same way, in the Smart Content. Now I don't have to remember the crazy kooky inconsistent name of the darn file which was actually installed, wait for it.... "K-9" Really? Really? Not mush, not hound, not dog sled. The main DAZ library directory is nearly useless if one doesn't recall the name of the artist, and even those names are not consistent, so there are multiple folders of work by same artist. But, if in the drill-down, the name of the product doesn't include what the heck it is, nor anything part of the published title, as in this "K-9" versus "Mush Hounds", really, meaning a dog sled, it's hard to find once, and who wants to go through that over and over?
So the Smart Content file is a useful filter that I can control what the model is called for my personal querying. I want to know all G3 hair that is short, I don't care if they are called Pixiefleet Dust and Fraginetta for Aemily. I get all the colors that I categorize by the "hair" item, not by artist, which are sometimes made by someone else and called something else like Lucid Flow for Pinocle by BZ instead of colors for "Blunt Cut hair by Max34". I appreciate the artistic nature of the creations, but I must say my admiration for Smart Content has really grown since I learned how to actually find a selection based upon the criteria I would know. I really recommend using the pop up menu in the Smart Pane, "explore product". You can then acess the Read Me, and all the associated products, select all, categorize as what you will use, ie. G2, and presto, you can see your G2 without all the other stuff cluttering up your pane. It sorts by what it is, ie, figure, materials, pose, that were included in that product. That's a time saver. It's a little different than clicking the box, limiting by selected figure, because you can add other things that will fit, like V4, G1, etc.
Now that being said, I don't put my 3rd party items in DAZ libary. I keep a separate directory for each site source, with sub files under my own categories. It's easier than the baffling DAZ Library which uses artists names as the primary file, again because the naming is inconsistent, and different artists often contribute to the same base product. I can call up the item I need with my system explorer, because I know how I categorized them. Often the zip files are not named helpfully, neither by artist nor by product name, and not even what the heck it was, and like many, are often just numbers. I don't use DAZ Studio online, I prefer the separate installer, so I can see how long it's taking to download, and then I can easily see all of what I just purchased and installed, not just the one product.
Smart Content is a tool. Once I grasped how I could customize it, it has become very much a time saver.
I use the Content Library for DAZ items that don't seem to have metadata, are too new to show up when I first want to use them, or are impossible to remember the complete name of the products. It's not perfect but if recent enough, I match with the DM installer, and can find what I'm looking for fairly quickly.
New guy full of questionsI suppose it depends on what you want to do with it. Daz is great for buying ready made items at really competative prices and creating still images. It's probably not the best for animations as that's not its primary purpose.

victoria 8 character clone for genesisHi everybody,i'd like to know if there is already a product to use victoria 8 clothes on genesis or will there be soon
thank youlist of G8 supported G3 UVsI tried the different textures on G8F when she first came out. Granting that I don't have all of them (and for some reason, I don't think I tried all of the ones I have), but the only ones I found that didn't work were: Girl 7's UV, Josie's UV, Bethany's UV, Sunny's UV, Rune's and Kalea's UV. Some of them were a bit surprising, given that the shapes weren't all that extreme. With the others that I did try -- I know I tried Victoria and Monique, probably not Mei Lin or Aiko, and I don't remember if I tried Lilith -- there was no visible issue in the viewport.
I am a bit confused by one of the promos for the "Genesis 3 Character UVs for Genesis 8 Female" product. The caption for that first image after the main promo says it shows G3F Base Female texture on G8F, with all sorts of breaks where the UV doesn't match up. That just doesn't happen. G3F Base Female UV and G8F Base Female UV are the same, by design. I wonder what that picture is meant to be showing? (Honestly, looking at it, I would say that's Victoria's texture, and not Jeane. That said, I had no issues putting Victoria 7's texture on G8F; I didn' see that sort of UV mismatch. THAT said ... I didn't try to render it, so there may be issues that show up on render that don't show in the viewport.)
Hi. Apologies for the lack of clarity. That promo is actually Bethany 7's skin showing how it looks without and with the UV correction. Some of the UV differences are glaringly obvious, like the characters you mention. Others have more subtle seams around the arms and thighs, sometimes only visible from behind, or differences in the alignment of the facial features, the eye socket, nails or nipples. In many cases, with a clothed figure or a close-up you could get away with it, which is perhaps why at a cursory glance they look fine. I felt that invluding all of the individualised UVs in one product was the logical and more complete option, rather than offer only those with more obvious seams.
Oh, OK. Thank you for clearing that up.
I do think that, if it's possible, that promo image should be resubmitted with corrected captions. As it stands, it looks like you're saying that the product corrects something that isn't actually an issue.
And yes, an all-in-one product is very welcome!
list of G8 supported G3 UVsI tried the different textures on G8F when she first came out.
