Empire State Building?
Other than a SketchUp model or one in .max format...nope.
How detailed does it need to be?

Well I know that sketchup is not a favorite but that was with Studio3 so I just loaded up the China Town Gate in 4.6 perfectly and google has lots of Chinese buildings.

What file format are the models ie OBJ? Do they work in DS 4.0? And what are the usage rights, as I couldn't see them on the link? Cheers!
One of Sketchup's formats is dae (or Collada) and DAZ will import this format. That being said it is a hit or miss kind of thing. Sometimes DAZ can and sometimes not. They are very low resolution models and so the textures really suck but in a pinch you can work with them. Sketchup's native format is what MJ says and has told you the usage rights and their pedigree.

Sketchup files come in a proprietary format and require conversion. There are add-on converters/plugins for the program (I think the paid version includes obj export, but haven't looked at the latest version, so I'm not sure). As such, they are not directly usable in DS 4.
Basically, using them for personal renders (and even commercial...but a large number of the meshes have questionable backgrounds...) is fine. Other than that, it's a sticky question...

I would imagine it still is, it comes with a Texaco Gas Pump, which is one of the nicest gas pumps I have seen on the warehouse.
Back at Robert, yes, it is still available, here; http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ac78a596e19168c1651636b7e802cd3e&prevstart=84

I had done a search for gas pumps and signs but didn't find it that wayI did that also, trying to find it again, and now, strangely enough, I can't for the life of me figure out how I did find it again!

Sketch-up is very basic in that regard.
Actually, I'm surprised I didn't have this problem with the shuttlecraft I made a few months ago- that was done 95% in Sketch-up.Star Trek Builders Unite 5 : Where no pixel has gone beforeI've had similar problems in Hexagon. Now, if someone would take a look at the bottom picture and tell me how can this be fixed? It never showed up till this render- and I just know it runs the full height of the model.
Personally I would export it to another 3D program and see if it happens there. if so, then go back to Sketchup (that is what you used right?) and try out re-exporting it but with a new setting (trying some new setting might help in this instance.).....render the obj with a flat texture and see what you get. Then try the UV mapping again...

Sketch up only has one setting, there's no way to adjust that-. And what you're actually seeing is UV Mapper's obj- not Sketch up's. And I'm not sure what you mean by a "flat texture" there are no bump maps or anything else of that nature used- just the most basic texture map.
I think I might have a work around figured. Look at ths copy of the page I'm working from. the red arrows are pointing at lines that have no explaination in the book. I don't know if they're indicating the interior space or hull plates. I'm going with hull plates- in fact I'm think of a real thin corner wrap that hides the distorion. Also, I don't have any other 3D program.
In DAZ you can lower the 'Angles' in the surface tab, lessening the smoothness of angles and highlighting angles as sharp corners and bends. Is that an option? You have my email. send me the obj and mtl file and I'll take a look if your solution doesn't work.
Okay. Working on it now.

Genesis - Blender3dkhalibloo said:even if the rigidity makes their content almost unusable in other apps? if you subtract all users of non-daz apps from this community, u'll be left almost no one at all. so i think it's in their interest to start playing nice with other 3d apps. by being rigid, their punishing both their honest customers and the pirates.
if i pay for something, then i definitely would wanna have all the freedom i need to use that something (within legal limits).
I feel you are finding this community from a different community, the bigger CGI one.. "This" community is built around users of DS and poser, with community members sometimes using other apps in addition to DS and poser. Myself, I use 3DSMax, MODO, Blender, milkshape, Sketchup, Gmax, Makehuman, ZBrush and Rhino3D. When I purchase content from "this" community it is with the total understanding I am buying content for use in DS and poser, nothing more with no perceived idea that it should work in any other app since it is developed, rigged and marketed for that use only. There are plenty of sites, in and out of this community, that sell mesh for use in multiple apps and you usually pay for that option, which is why DAZ assets costs are much lower, they are designed for a specific app (and community).
While personally I would LOVE to have DAZ assets working natively in all my other apps, as a commercial addon developer for games, I have seen (and experienced) first hand the theft and abuse and totally understand it not being an option. I am not that selfish to think that my needs should circumvent the greater good.
Axis manipulator not center in model roomThanks for your answer
I have finaly found the problem
The problem is when the model is too big and you want yo modelize details
(in the sample the entrance of pyramid of few meters versus the pyramid of more than 200 meters)
The solution is to separate the two parts of the model
I use Ctrl-D to duplicate the model, in the first I delete the entrance and in the second I delete the rest of pyramidBut the entrance was always not center in the axis manipulator
Then I selected all (Ctrl-A), move all to the center, and the problem is solved
When I select one edge (point), the manipulator is on the point and not far awayThe problem seem that Carrara can't manage big model with very far away of the center
I don't know why
I would like a tool to manipulate the manipulator like to choose the position and even the direction
That can make easier the modeling something like Sketchup....Scaling GIS Models?Another glitch is maintaining the right axes. I'm trying to make a basically round 6-sided model into more of an oval, but if the axes are off, then I can't squeeze to make a longer lattitude. It goes to a larger issue I have with the axes in Daz...why do they follow the movement of the model. Is there a way to make them permanent? When I use Sketchup, for instance, the axes remain fixed and separate from the model.
