Vicky 9 Anime Dark Elf Shape Add-On
Premier exclusive, huh? Is this going to be a regular thing - Daz picking items that would likely be popular and locking them behind the Premier subscription?
Going from bad to worse. Would've carted today's bundles with little to no hesitation in the past. Now I'm debating whether to spend $2.99 for the doorbuster because supporting Daz is becoming that distasteful. Sad state of affairs. What's especially annoying is that they're kind of glossing over the fact that the new figures are being rendered in Filament, not Iray. So, now you can get a semi-decent shader on the figure and the specifc outfits, the rest of the scene and any other clothes/hair will be shaderless.
FilaToon / Cell shaded rendering with FilamentI just started a thread on the new Base figure asking this same question, as it looks like all of the shader effects shown are exclusive to Filament. The promo at Daz 3D is suspciously specific about it being compatible with "most" G9 shaders and doesn't mention any other figure generations, nor does it mention background items. That, combined with the lack of much in the way of backgrounds in the promos makes me suspect that there's not currently a method... beyond rendering the backgrounds and props in Iray or 3DL print with a different shader program and then marrying the two in post. I'd be glad to be proven wrong, of course, but filament won't even render a lot of basic items without add-on conversion packs so...
Vicky 9 thoughts - Filament render only for cel-shading?While waiting, some thoughts on the base sculpts, which are decent attempts at an anime style design, though there are already many very solid anime-style and toon-style G9 characters already. It would be great if these effects could be used with those other figures, as well as the earlier generation figures, but the info I'm reading so far isn't very encouraging.
I can't find info on the FIlaToon shader beyond the very rudimentary stuff at the Filatoon promo at Daz 3D to find out if it can be applied to anything else, but at the moment it looks like one will either have to 1.) put one's figures in a non-toon shadered set, in FIlament, which has a lot of issues with Iray and 3DL materials, or 2.) render out the background elements seperately using the renderer they were designed for and convert them to a toon style as a flat image and composite with the foreground figure in post, or 3.) hand create new toonified textures for all of the props, etc.
Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - more ongoinger threadDefinitely an interesting direction. I'm sure there is a market for it.
And a reason to play with Filament, if that's what it takes for the cel shading.
Vicky 9 thoughts - Filament render only for cel-shading?As the caption says, it looks like the new Vicky anime style character is really only set up for Filament if you want the cel shading effect. Is this correct?
FilaToon / Cell shaded rendering with FilamentOMG
please tell me this can be applied to other characters and generations.
DAZ 4.23 & FilamentYes, if you go to the changelog and search within the page for Filament you will find details on a number of changes that are exposed for the DrawStyle in the current General Release/Public Build
DAZ 4.23 & FilamentThanks, Rich
Just for my own curiousity, is there any visible editable changes to the behavior of Filament that we can play with in 4.23 (i.e. opacity, emissives, shadow softness, etc...).
DAZ 4.23 & FilamentThere has been a lot of work done towards a Filament Toon shader recently (along with other Filament fixes), is it now available in 4.23?
Mane on lion not renderingHi.
I just purchased this item: https://www.daz3d.com/felidae-by-am--lion
It's a lion, it's supposed to have a mane, but when rendering with iRay or filament the mane doesn't show. I see it in the viewport when I have any style other than viewport or iRay selected. But it doesn't render. In filament I do see a bit of the mane. Am I missing something? See attached screenshot.
And by the way, I use iClone a lot and there's a way to contact the content seller through their website. Is it possible in Daz's website too?
Thanks.
Mud and Mud Wrestling Props for Genesis 8 and 8.1Looks like this product was removed from the store so presumably a PA that was moved elswehere.
There still seems to be a manual on the Daz Wiki currently tho - does this help? 80703_mud_and_mud_wrestling_user_guide.pdf
According to that:
There are two ways of muddying up clothing:
1. Use one of the Mud Iray Decal Nodes OR
2. Apply the Mud Shader Preset to the surface of the clothes.
The Iray Decal node gives the best results. It is Iray only. If you want to see the results in another engine, such as Filament, use the shader approachEDIT: According to the filelist you should already have this PDF in the "Readme's" folder of your library where this product is installed.

Probably someone else already asked this, but I don't have the strenght to search along the whole forum...
If I convert a figure using the Premier tool, I'm allowed to use that converted figure if I don't keep the subscription? Or it will stop working along with the plugin? A more backward compatibility is planned (namely, support for G1 and G2 F/M figures)?
About the Render Queue, it can render image sequences in 3Delight and Filament? Or it's binded only to IRay?
The Blender export works on anything or only on few G9 Figure morphs?
I am concerned about the same thing.
If when I stop my subscription, the projects I have produced up to that point will no longer work, then I feel unsafe using a subscription. As far as I know the conversions don't depend on the plug-in, so that would not matter. Only things thata re actiuvely dependent on the tool would be unusable.
I see, so I still can't use the project, even if I created it.
So I have to be careful when I use plug-in functions..
It's a difficult problem.I said as far as I know the conversions are not dependent - you don't need the plug-in to be active to use them.
Thanks for the replies.
I am not interested in CONVERTER at the moment.
I'm not even worried about it, as I think I could probably use the converted data as long as it is saved.I am concerned about the plug-ins I use to create scenes etc.
This is because I would be in trouble if scenes created with the premium version are not backwards compatible.
Therefore, I would like a feature comparison list.
I am also concerned about post-use compatibility, not only now, but also for plug-ins that will be added to the premium version in the future.Premier QuestionsSpace Jingoroh said:

The converted figures will be either saved as sub-set or DSF files... etc. then they'll have nothing to do with the converter plugin anymore, so they can always work without subscritpion.
About the Render Queue, it can render image sequences in 3Delight and Filament? Or it's binded only to IRay?
All ~~ it depends on the engine you choose in Render Settings... Viewport (Filament, 3DL ), OpenGL or Iray. However, I don't think one can mix them together in a full render queue.
The Blender export works on anything or only on few G9 Figure morphs?
As for exporting to Blender, it's still the Daz to Blender bridge, working for Genesis figures and static Env / Props... nothing has been changed so far (no updated version of DTB, still 2023 ver1.1)
Edit: I just got the update of DTB, brand new version + UI (2024 ver2.8.63), they work in both Premier and non-Premier for Blender 4.2 ~~

I screwed up my default settingsIf the Viewport is using the Iray (of Filament) Drawstyle those nodes will be created, or if you do an Iray render - they won't be created if, as in the creenshot, the Viewport if using a non-PBR mode.
As for the grid, it is there but it matches the background colour and so doesn't show (you would see it if you added a model to the scene and lowered it below floor level). You can set the Viewport background colour in Window>Style>Customise Syle (under 6. Viewports).
