DAZ, MD, and Traditional Pattern Making - Graduation
omg! this thread is a godsend!
I've used MD to make clothing for the Sims 4, and wanted to do the same for Daz--and sell it in store, but I'm running into so many issues.
The underarm distortion, for one. I'm unclear on weightmapping using daz.
Next, if I want to make a buttoned/unbottoned morph, how would I create the morphs in MD and have them work for use with the clothing options as one?
Don't even get me started on packaging

In UE5, if I enable physical simulation, post process anim BP or pose driver doesn't work. I don't know how to solve it.
Post process anim BP doesn't respond to physics simulation by default, couldn't find any setting of Post process anim BP to enable this. Post process anim BP seems to react to bone rotations from animaions but not from simulations.
The solution is to not use post process anim BP, instead make the pose drivers or bone driven controllers as normal anim BP, and embed it as Linked Anim Graph into the character BP, like embedding IK controls before the character animation output, attached the example from the Paragon character anim BP.
----------------------------------------------------
That doesn't work if the physics simulation is initialised from character BP event graph, by using the Physical Animation Component.
Physical Animation Component seems be be layered after anim BP has been processed, so it can't drive the morph targets used in the anim BP.
The processing order is like this: Animations -> Anim BP -> IK Control -> Post Process Anim BP -> Physics Simulation. Physics Simulation seems to have no influence on the Pose Driver because of this.
In UE5.1 there's a better alternative called Physics Control Component which is more customizable, but it has zero documentation so it needs some testing to discover how useful it is for this feature.
If that component also doesn't work then it needs some C++ plugin to override the animation processing threads.
Thank you for your explain!

That simple. I think it will work.
I have never once used ZBrush so dont know how it works but I remember seeing a tutorial by Esha where she used the Morph brush to restore the base figure of a morphed figure.
If ZWrap distorts the base figure body, you could try using that Morph brush technique (might not be what it's called!) to restore the Base figure.
In the full R3DS Wrap software, you can restore the base figure (if needed) by using either or a combination of Apply, Replace, and Brush nodes, but I guess ZWrap doesnt have those...
You could ask ZWrap or Zbrush experts what actual best practice for workflow is, because i really dont know.
Freebie Challenge NOV 22 - "Thieves, Robbers, and Fraudsters all around!" - Main ThreadInspired by "The Lies of Locke Lamora"
The Lies of Locke Lamora is a 2006 fantasy novel by American writer Scott Lynch, the first book of the Gentleman Bastard series.
It describes the adventures of a group of street artists, thieves and scammers, known as the Gentleman Bastard. Their adventures are set in a city called Camorr. Locke is leader of the group, consisting of Jean Tannen, an expert fighter; Calo and Galdo Sanza, jack-of-all-trades identical twins; and Bug, a young apprentice. In the picture Locke Lamora (right) and Jean Tannen (left), my version of them based on the book descriptions.

@SofaCitizen, How you have been?
Did you achieve anything or not yet?
I wanted to enter this month contest but I got disheartened that I could do nothing yet.
Moreover, with useless offerings for the month that will end soon, no wonder there is no quality content as before.
I don't know if I can paticipate in next month contest.
Take care.
Oh dear, sorry to hear that you are still having trouble :(
I have had a little more free time this month and so I have done OK myself. I have managed to submit entries for the Freebie challenge, the Daz+ challenge for this month as well as Llola Lane's Render a Month thread too. I am also trying desperately to finish a submission for the new user challenge in the two evenings I have remaining - going to be a tight squeeze if I do!
Regardless of if the submissions do OK or not they have been incredibly handy for learing a few new things and practicing others too. Mainly doing some more rigging of assets, using geoshells, more practice with flames and smoke VDBs, more dForce practice - including using the wind node and using Blender & Morph Loader pro to add custom Morphs. All alongside a general helping of re-texturing and throwing lots of assets into a scene to make things that are (hopefully) both unique and somewhat nice-looking.
I can understand that it can often be disheartening when you cannot achieve what you are aiming for but I still think you should try and submit something to either the Freebie or New User challenges. It doesn't matter if they are that great or not - you will still learn something by just getting stuck in and getting a few renders done. You can always ask for feedback if you want so others can give you a few pointers. Then, bit by bit, you will get better at the various areas of the software and it will be easier to overcome any hurdles you might run in to.
Good Luck!

No, but all my morph work and 3d painting is done via blender...Looks interesting with the amount of game assets that have been ripped for blender I imagine the character content would be near unlimited.
how to convert Michael 4 morphs to genesis 2?hi,

So far the only character I've seen that I thought was up to par with their G8/8.1 content is bluejaunte's character. The others are, IMVHO, awful so far - other than the DO's Mike and Vicky. I bought the Bachelor and Bachelorette Mega Bundle, but not for the characters, which I think are terrible and I'll never use them. I apologize to the PA's, but I can't help how I feel about them. In my opinion (and it's just that, so take with a grain of salt...lol), I made better faces with a few small custom morphs and the G9 morph packages.
I agree, and I would add that Stella HD (bluejaunte's G9 character)---though up to par with his G8/8.1 content---offered no noticeable G9 advance in quality or features. I'm not even downloading the B&BMB characters. Here's hoping Daz keeps its Core Figure quality as high as V9 on G9 rather than the regular lapses in quality of G8/8.1 Core Figures.
i think the advances will be easier to appreciate from the perspective of a creator and then to narrow that down still further the creators of monsters and creatures, also the customers of male content may benefit too in terms of the non gender specific products...
But what discernable advancements or benefits can we expect from the creators of female content?... for starters they don't seem to be putting much effort into the eyes and to be honest i don't blame them...the selections that come with the starter/character essentials are really good and easy to pop into any character (and i think that will stay the same for both PA and core characters for a good while to come). Also we are told that the expressions are better but that is probably more of an opinion than anything else.
Bluejaunte did say early on that the new generation wouldn't suddenly make them any better and not to expect it to.
They could add subtle variatons in realistic iris patterns and colors as they are different between each person. The could add things to sclera like bloodshootness from being drunk, a cold, allergies, crying, and such things. They could add sclera that look like they've just had Visine eye drops added (they'll appear whiter and brighter because they fluoresce - although I think DAZ has that one already). They could do some research to do something unusual.
To use DAZ's great G9 base materials as an excuse to slack is a good way to loose sales. The PAs should step up their games to differentiate and improve what they offer to customers to make it worthwhile that we spend more money.

Select a polygon and know which morphs are affecting it?Well, if it is a full body morph it will only show up when aliased to, say the head, right?
Is there a way to mirror morphs? What was the morph for?

The current version of DS (4.9.2.70) has added a morph-mirroring option to Morph Loader Pro - select the OBJ file, then click the triangle next to it in the dialogue to show options and on Morph Mirroring right-click the current setting to change. This is a new feature, so not available in older versions.
It seems to be broken in DS 4.21 now

OH, OK! You are working on this. I just sent you a PM to see if you were going to do it. Terrific. I'm looking forward to it. Also, a transfer of clothing and hair to G9 would be great, as other products.
Also, just a thought, if the G9 poses do turn out to have some worderful poses, would it be possible to do a G9 to the other sets of characters, as G8.1, G8, G3, G2, G, and generation 4 (V4-M4)? Or, would that just be too much work and trouble?
I plan to someday do the G9 to other generations. However, there are just not enough pose products to justify that work right now. Maybe next year.

Exactly, and the eyes of Casey not looking good either. Plus Casey has such dry (almost crusty looking) skin while Biddie's skin looks rubbery... Emrys and Morris will make better characters next time for sure, as Casey and Biddie were kind of a disappointmentbarbult said:

I've been using Studio since 2014, so I've been here for a few figure upgrades.
Others like me and some that have been here longer have seen this all before.
The new characters usually are better.Yes, there are things to fix with the new G9 characters. Nobody has it perfect.
G9 has better backwards compatibility than when we upgrade from G2 to G3/V7.
---
Just so you know. I don't like any of the new characters so far either.
I don't like the way the female genitalia deforms when the character is posed. ( yes I used to adjustment sliders, but they have no affect on that body region.)
I don't like the "beer belly" they all have. I'm looking for the toned "bikini bridge" tummy.
I don't like the masculine female faces.
I don't like the belly button. It looks like someone push a finger into a lump of clay.
I don't like that makeup is now LIE overlay only, or painted on to the texture maps. Lot's of issues with this, and isn't easy to work with.
There's a couple other things I'm not sure if I like or not at this point.Like HD only nipple morphs.
I do like V9 HD skins. They are the best I've seen or have been able to work with on any Daz character.
I will buy G9/V9 characters when someone makes one I find attractive or interesting, but so far that hasn't happened.
