  • Non-photorealistic Renders (NPR)
I've been really liking working with Tony cam, but it's missing some of those fine details. http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/City-BattleF1-614887389 Another try with TonyCam, this time with multiple passes to get some shading and details. It's not the fine lines of PWToon, but I think I like the effect. One thing I should try is seeing if I can use PWToon and TonyCam together, or maybe do a 'fine lines' pass.

    What do you guys think?

PWToon vs. Toonycam style. There are things I like about PWToon style, but ToonyCam, when it's working, runs smooth, clean, and fast. Easier to set up (at least while it works)

I like how clean the lines are in both images, and particularly how fine some of the lines are in the first.

My one frustration with PWToon is that it could REALLY use a global scaling option. Having to tweak all the outline widths if I decide to render at a larger size is tedious.

Aaah, thanks for the info. It explains another thing I just noticed...

Doing pwtoon, progressive off is way faster! buuuuut a lot of details are lost. Aaah.

After working on Iray shaders for a while, in the mood for some PWToon experiments...

    http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/ApeNSnake1-614470816

    Two hour render. Gulp.

(Need a new computer -- Iray renders compete a lot with 3DL simply because my graphics card is WAY better than my base machine)

    That turned out cool, Will!

  • apply a shader on eyes and hair

If you hold down Ctrl when applying the shader a box will pop up under Map Settings choose ignore and the trans maps should remain in place.

There are different sliders in the surfaces tabwhich change the look of PWToon and the manga style shaders I'm more familiar with the PWToon than the manga but you get back details by altereing them usually the Diffuse upper and Lower Bound helps with shadows on muscles etc. Also your lighting will make a difference as will the original maps.

  • Pwtoon better quality

Sure i know it.... And the crescent's pwtoon preset is free... I just bought pwtoon and download the free preset.... Thanks for the accusation :)  (as i said i want to make some anime style, but i don't have the courage to pay the anime manga big bundle until i don't understand everything i want to know.....)

So, if anyone knows any response to my question, i'll very happy to read this :)

    Thanks Tobor, for the support...

I'm sorry about that; I didn't intend my comments as an accusation of any intentional wrong doing.  But I did misread it to imply that you had gotten PWtoon "somewhere on the internet". And I also noticed that you were a new user here so that you might not be aware of illicit copies

    Please accept my apologies.

Thanks To you it is not a problem, please dont care about that :)

For the moment i am just a beginner ( that is why i will ask a lot of questions for long time...) but i hope i will be a good member here... your community is cool...

For my problem i read somewhere about freestyle render in blender but i dont like that software... and we cant export the setup rigging from daz To blender... its a problem... I found in the shop "manga and visual style shader" but i dont want To buy everything if the result is not what i want...

Another way is To render with pwtoon and make the others lines with my hands and photoshop... Well... maybe its just impossible to make a good anime render with daz for the moment ?

    Sorry for my english... again...

Interesting. pwtoon is a product in the DAZ store (http://www.daz3d.com/pwtoon). If you got it from some place other than here, it is probably an illegal copy. Please report it to DAZ by going to help > contact us > submit a ticket.

I'm sure he knows. He said, with appropriate comma added:  "I currently use pwtoon, and shader presets that I found on the internet."

I have those same shader presets. http://cyonixgfx.deviantart.com/art/Cel-Shading-in-DAZ-Studio-156161543

  • Pwtoon better quality

    Hi,

I currently use pwtoon and shader presets that I found on the internet. I want to do a manga style on my renders. Or at least cel-shaded . How can I refine the drawing abdominal and pectoral my character ? I do not know if my question is properly installed ... But I hope you can help me.

    Thank you !

Ps : Oh, and, i don't know how i can put a shader on the eyes/Pupils only.... When i load a shader into a character, his eyes got the same shader than his skin...

    Here's the pic :

  • 3Delight - The slowest rendering engine.

    PWToon shaders.

You can get CLOSE to this with the DzToon shaders, just not quite as good (IMO).

If I did any postwork, it was only for brightness curve.

I like how the PWToon render worked out.  Very nice!  Your render with the boy in the bed is also very nice. Really well done!

And in the nonrealism category, tried earlier render with PWToon, happy with results.

  • Non-photorealistic Renders (NPR)

So, I mostly lurk here.  I don't usually do anything NPR.  Most people who know me, know I prefer doing realistic stuff in Iray.  I love what you guys have been doing in here, though, and I got inspired to give it a try.  I did some experimenting with an image I made yesterday with the specific intention of starting out NPR.  It helped that I got a new item that went perfectly with the idea I had for a render.  Anyway, I tried a several different approaches to creating the effect I was looking for from ToonyCam to PWToon to several FilterForge filters.  I put all of the better ones up on my thread in the Art Studio, but I thought I would share the final image I put up in my gallery last night.  I really like how it turned out.  This one ended up being one of the ones that came out of a FilterForge filter called Comic Stylize.  It was similar to what the ToonyCam and the PWToon did, but there were some subtle differences that I like about this one.  The others are in my thread if anyone wants to see them, but I think this is the best version of what I came up with.  So, thanks for inspiring me.

That looks really good! So far, I haven't tried pwToon yet (I do have it though), I've been experimenting with Visual Style Shaders mostly and some ToonyCam pro, for the Sapphire and Steel image in my gallery I actually composited both Toonycam and VSS renders together, iRay still snuck in for the background though (albeit processed through a FilterForge filter to get the finished effect):

  • Knittingmommy's Laboratory

You're welcome, @KA1!  I really like FilterForge!  I imagine it will take a little experimenting as not all of the filters looked that great on my image.  I don't know how much impact a specific image style or content affects how the filters are laid out by the image.  While I had some great effects, not all of the presets for any given filter worked well.  Or, at least, I didn't like how some of the presets affect my image.  It is possible I would love the ones that didn't work with another image.  I'll definitely play with it again.  I just don't know when.  But this was fun!

Of course, since I uploaded all of that well past my bedtime, I forgot to upload the PWToon version of the image.  So, I'm adding that here rather than add it to the post above.  It is rather full of images and I don't know if there is a limit length-wise for posts.  It was really similar to the Magic Camera: ToonyCam version, however, there are some slight differences.
