I'm also picking up the Kingdom of Marrakesh Iray update, (along with Kingdom of Marrakesh and Ochre City, both in Fast Grab.,) which gives me three new releases and 70% off the featured sale stuff. I really hate passing up an opportunity to save big on stuff. But the cart total has me questioning whether or not I should just wishlist one or the other of the two characters and drop all the 70% off stuff... decisions, decisions...

Yeah, I did two complete orders with the 70% from the other day, I ended up going back and keeping everything on both lists. Wish I could have rendered some of it for the thread, but had the outdoor work yesterday and now off to get tarps/plywood to cover up the bamboo stumps to try and and kill it. (Very sad about that, but they had grown to FORTY FEET and were taking over the neighbor's trees/ doing shade and killing her grass.)  These were clumping (I'm no dummy), so they didn't run but the info ticket on the trees said they would go to twenty feet- yeah, right.) 

I wanted to start a conversation actually on the thread, that I'm having with a lot of people via PMs and emails. This is just me thinking out loud. So folks- what are your thoughts? Here's the question:

Do you think it's a good idea to have such deeply discounted sales right before a major new release? I have no clue when Genesis 8 Male / Michael 8 will be released, but past trends show a big sale right before a big release, to get every penny out of what then becomes the previous generation. They did it for Victoria 7, before releasing the 8. The reason I ask if it's a good idea is because then buyers' funds are more limited to spend on the new release. This doesn't make sense  to me though, as they would want  the most people as possible to spend money on the new release. But these sales are crazy!

So most of the Victoria 4 props should be usable on all Gen2, 3 and 8 figures, although they might not fit well, right ?

Yes Saphire is correct

V3 and M3 are stand alone characters

V4 and M4 are stand alone characters

Genesis has V5 and M5

Genesis 2 has V6 and M6

Genesis 3 has V7 and M7

And they finally fixed the mis matched number in G8 because it has V8 and I am assuming M8- so this last generation all matches.  It is very confusing lol. It took me months and months to get it all straight.

I got Victoria 7 free I think for buying the Girl 7 Pro Bundle or some other Pro Bundle. I don't remember.

I get confused about which characters are G3F. Since there is a Victoria 4 and Mike 4, I would think that G3 refers to V3 and M3, but somehow I think that G3 is maybe the 7 characters. Or maybe the 6.

V7 is the GF3 I do belive.

V4 and M4 are of GF&M1 I do belive.

V6 is off of GF2 I do belive.

but do not quote me on that, someone might be more suited to tell you which way it goes!!

I understand where the articulated/rigged figures are involved (Victoria, Michael, Genesis, etc) but the the not so complicated props and sets (clocks, furniture, etc) is there really that much more work to make them compatible in Poser as well as DAZ Studio? [I obviously don't model CGI meshes...]

It depends on what your goals are, what you're hoping to use it for, your timeline for creating goods, what your budget is, which render engine you're going to use etc. 

M4 ends up being the cheapest, but the clothing etc probably isn't as nice, and the textures are lower resolution. The hair also isn't great for that generaion. The muscles don't deform as nicely either.

That all gets better as the generations progress.

The hair for Gen 3 is a huge step up over the others and the character / clothing textures are made with the iray render engine in mind. The problem is though that most new items that are being released are going to support G8, but everything is going to be more expensive, and will take a while for all the content to build up/

something that G8 introduced was an easy way to change the characters expressions, which apparently is really powerful and easy to use. (I'm still using gen2, so I haven't played around with it yet) so if you want more realistic facial features then that's something to consider. 

When they released Victoria 8 they had an offer where if you bought it you got victoria 5,6,7 free. Same with the victoria standard and pro bundles. Michael 8 should be released soon, so they may just repeat that offer. That will solve your dilema as far as Michael goes at least.

If I remember correctly... "Pozette" and "Dork" where the characters that came with Poser 4.  If you find the Poser 4 release date, they are one in the same.

I REALLY JUST WANT THE "BIG" FIGURES LIKE MICHAEL, VICTORIA, DAVID, FREAK, THE KIDS, HIRO, AIKO, STEPHANIE. I MIGHT ADD SOME OF THE MINOR CHARACTERS LIKE LEE, RYDER, JESSIE, ETC.

btw/ just an FYI.  The Genesis, Genesis 2, Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 Female release dayes are the same as their corresponding Victoria (5, 6, 7, and 8)

I'm doing an article which frequently references figures by their age (the point being, there's still a lot of life left in old figures, even the old P4 "Dork"). But I'm having a lot of trouble finding release years for all the various figures and major characters. Is anyone aware of a single site that lists them all, PARTICUARLY MICHAEL. There is a Wikipedia page that lists Victoria, which is all nice and good, but if there's one about Michael, I can't find it.

All help greatly appreciated!
