    Which one are you using? I've tried the Taffeta Tutus and the Ballet Gala outfit so far, and both cause the problems described by the OP.

    I don't have Victoria 3 purchased so can't check that on my machine. It is an old Poser product so the metadata may not be perfect tho - try searching for her in "All Products".

    Hi Everyone,
    Long story, short version: My computer broke. It took some time before I could get a new one, and then I just didn't have the fight left in me to get everything reinstalled and reset again.
    I tried posting in the Poser discussion area but the forum kept throwing an exception error.
    Finally, after a number of years, I am dabbling again.

    I lost a lot of my stuff and have noticed while I can still redownload it from my account..eg Vicki 3 (I have a lot of v3 content I like and want to use).
    I noticed she is only available in daz format.
    Am I able to download her and her morphs etc and still then use them in Poser.. will be using Poser  v13
    Any help or advice on where to start with this daunting task is appreciated.
    Thank you

    If you read the fine print for each package you should be able to find the Poser versions - indeed, most of Victoria 3 will be in Poser format.

  • Facial expressions have been bad for a long time

    Base Victoria 4 had a very broad face. Artists who wanted to make a "pretty" character tended to narrow the face. Other artist making expression sets only used the base character. They ended up using the same facets and the mouth would break. This is true for later charcters too but I gave up asking for a fix long ago.

    In the long run, I think the best answer is for each character to have an included smile

  • Icon Creator Pro [Commercial]

    Elor said:

    Hello,

    It's a great tool and a huge time saver for rendering cleaner and better icons smiley

    I have a couple of problems with the current version (and don't know if it's a problem with the script or if I'm doing something wrong so I'm hoping wiser minds will be able to sort them):

    1. There is a small typo when I'm trying to launch Icon Creator without any asset selected in the Content Library (written Lebrary in this case):

    2. If Local Dimension is 'On' on the camera used to render an icon, with a resolution higher than the one set in the script (512x512 in my case), the render will be slower, as if the script was using the Local dimension as a target instead of using the resolution I set. I said as if because the final tip file is a 512x512 file, but the rendering time was in line with the rendering time of that same scene at the resolution set in the Local Dimension tab of the camera.

    Here are the results of a test with a scene small enough to render in a couple of minutes with my CPU (Victoria 8.1, hair, clothes and the default beach HDRI):

    a. Scene with Local dimension set to Off:

    Iray [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER :: 1.0 IRAY rend info : CPU: 432 iterations, 4.608s init, 35.634s render
    [INFO] :: Finished Rendering
    [INFO] :: Total Rendering Time: 46.83 seconds

    b. Scene with Local Dimension set to On (1024x1024):

    Iray [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER :: 1.0 IRAY rend info : CPU: 400 iterations, 4.197s init, 123.164s render
    [INFO] :: Finished Rendering
    [INFO] :: Total Rendering Time: 2 minutes 13.53 seconds

    c. Render done at 1024x1024 (using the Render button):

    [INFO] :: Finished Rendering
    [INFO] :: Total Rendering Time: 2 minutes 23.75 seconds
    [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER :: 1.0 IRAY rend info : Device statistics:
    [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER :: 1.0 IRAY rend info : CPU: 414 iterations, 4.527s init, 131.892s render

    Is it possible to automatically reduce the rendering resolution in this case (eventually keeping the ratio used if the camera is not a 1:1 for the people who are using a non square tip picture) ? If it's not, raising an alert could be useful to avoid unusually long rendering time.

    Hi Elor,

    Sorry for the late answer!

    1. Thanks alot for the heads up ... I'll correct this typo in the next update!

    2. TBH I ignored this camera's feature ("Use Local Dimensions") so I digged a little bit into that ...
    The Icon Creator workflow is:

    • The script takes your current render settings
    • It set new render settings (aspect ratio 1:1 and the dimensions stated in the script)
    • It set the render camera (In this point it seems that the camera's local dimensions bypasses the script's stated icon size)
    • It takes the render image and it makes the image layers (in this point it distorts the render if the image is not 1:1 as the whole script is based on 1:1 aspect ratio)
    • It saves the outcome and restores the original render settings

    I can add a check to disable temporarily the "Local Dimensions" for the render camera, in a future update, but I cannot change the tip icon into a custom aspect ratio (although it is a very good idea) as the whole code relies on 1:1 aspect ratio...

    Thanks for your very interesting comment

  • Read this on redit concerning Daz A.I.

    Daz studio AI uses their own internal content for training Data

    My understanding is that this is true for the LoRAs, but not for the base model. Somebody please correct me if this is not the case.

    base model: SDXL; trained by Stability AI with an adjusted dataset by LAION.

    checkpoint: Daz AI Studio; trained with images owned by Daz (actual numbers unreleased)

    LoRA: Victoria 9, Michael 9, Angela 9, Wang 9; trained with images owned by Daz (actual numbers unrelased)

    Some companies provide datasets which include billions of images.

    Other companies train base models on adjusted versions of the datasets.

    The model weights of open-source base models are released to the AI community.

    Checkpoints fine-tune the model weights with further training to excel in a specific style (photorealistic, 3D, anime) or topic (real-world, fantasy, science fiction).

    LoRA (Low-rank adaptation) use an even smaller set of images to influence the generation process in very specific areas (likeness of characters, clothing, backgrounds, poses with props).

    ###

    ethical concerns about datasets and base model training

    At the time of writing the practice of gathering publicly available data from the internet to train generative AI has not been found illegal by any court of law.

    Companies have reacted to concerns and adjusted the datasets used for base model training.

    ethical concerns about checkpoint and LoRA training

    The origin of the images used for checkpoints and LoRA released by individuals is often unknown.

    Daz using their own images to train their checkpoints and LoRA is a huge advantage for those looking for verified AI solutions.

  • Absurdly high memory requirements when opening a project with animation in Timeline

    Unfortunately, this is normal.

    Timeline uses an exponentially larger amount of ram than animate does.

    In doing some conversion testing, every time i'd convert an animate animation, then save/reload, there was always an increase in ram usage.

    A 60 second animation(V8 forward 2 cycles, Walk construction kit for victoria 8, repeated to reach 60 seconds) used ~1GB of total ram for DS in animate. When baked to timeline, then saved/reloaded, the ram usage jumped to ~8GB.

    When testing timeline only files,the initial and reloaded file didn't use a significantly different amount of ram. The initial ram usage was signiificantly higher though, with a 60 second animation using ~6GB with those particular files(Beg for life, Scared animation collection p2 for Victoria 8, repeated to reach 60 seconds/1800 frames)

    The only way i found to reduce the ram usage, bake the animation back to animate.

    When i did that, for op's file, saved as a new GFA, and applied that to a G8F, the ram usage was only ~1GB total for DS.

    The ram usage didn't change significantly when i saved and reloded the scene.

    EDIT:d'oh, i forgot to specify in the last part that it was op's file that got reduced to 1GB of sysram usage on reload.

  • Can you folks please do a deluxe Diving gear & UW scooter for Gen 9 Victoria

    Hi folks:

    Was wondering if you folks wouldn't mind looking into a vintage and modern diving gear set for Victoria 9, that would feature a prop wetsuit as well as a wearable one, or one that could be shown lying on the deck of a yacht.  The vintage wetsuit as well as modern shortie high cut that can be shown unzipped and have various colour.  Tanks could be the twn tanks which are an amazing propt to boot, and very easy to install on Gen 8 characters, plus the vintage double hose.  Wetsuits could also have a shark tooth tear feature or torn fabric, of course vintage oval dive mask along with the modern double lens ones in the modern gen 8 dive gear.  Also please do an updated UW scooter that the divers could ride.  As always thanks for taking time from your busy schedules to read and consider our ideas.  Please be SAFE and Well. Cheers for now

  • Use G8 wearable preset on G9?

    pctech4ny said:

    I know this is an old thread, but should this procedure also work going from G3 to G8?

    I have a product from another store that has a G3 wearable set that loads multiple character accessories at once.

    As long as the accessories are parented and not fitted, it's the same process and it's even easier between G3 and G8 (because the two figures are really close) and as long as you're transfering props / accessories while keeping the same gender between the source figure and the target figure, you shouldn't have to move them following the process explained bellow: the goal is to get a target figure as close as possible to the source figure in shape and pose.

    (Transfer between genders can be helped by Cross-Figures ressources kits if you have them)

    The source and the target figures need to be the base figures: when transfering something between G3F or G3M to G8F or G8M, using Victoria 7 or Michael 7 with Victoria 8 or Michael 8 is a bad idea.

    The process from Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 of the same gender:

    1. Load the source figure.
    2. Load the props / accessories on it.
    3. Load the target figure.
    4. Apply a Genesis 3 for Genesis 8 pose to go from the Genesis 8 default A pose to a T-Pose (I'm using one provided by @Sickleyield in the description of this video).
    5. Parent each prop / accessory to the correct bone on the target figure (ex: hand for a sword, one of the neck bone for a necklace, etc).
    6. (Optionnal step 1 ) If a prop required a specific pose (ex: hand pose for a sword), it's time to convert it using either a converter (paid or free) or look for a similar pose in your library (the converted one should be close enough between Genesis 3 and 8).
    7. Save a wearable preset either prop by prop or with all of them.
      1. (Optionnal step 2) If one prop required a pose, you can now save it with the wearable preset.

    About Optional step 2, you may already know that but it's a good idea to save only the poses of the bones needed (ex: the hand bone and its children for a sword). To get here I usually unselect everything and navigate to the bones I need (I'm only looking for the parent bone, so if I'm 'converting' a sword, I'll select the right / left hand and let Daz select every children). On that part, I'm not totally sure what the best practices are so if there is a better way, I'm all ears smiley

    How it looks with a G3F Sword parented to a G8.1F figure, with the sword parented to the right hand:

    As a bonus, it's possible to use a similar process "converting" a wearable prop to Genesis 9 with a couple of additional steps, all taking place between step 3 and step 4. Step 3 now looks like that:

    • Load a Genesis 9 base figure (without Base Feminine or Base Masculine dialed in).
      1. Select Show Hidden Properties in the hamburger icon over the Parameters panel.
      2. With G9 Selected, go to the Parameters panel, then Genesis 9 > Hidden > Clones > Dial Genesis 3 Female at 100 % (Genesis 9 should now look very close to a base G3F)
      3. With the Joint Editor tool active, right-clicking anywhere in the viewport to get a menu then Edit > Adjust Rigging to Shape (no parenting before that part) then Accept.

    And during step 4, the goal is to get the Genesis 9 pose close to the source figure default pose but I don't know if someone shared such poses.

    Screenshots for G9 additional steps:

    Hidden properties:

    Hidden clones:

    Adjusting rigging to shape:

    Rigging adjusted:

    A free product on Renderhub can also be used:

    • the clone provided by Daz is closer to the original figure and Daz provides clones for every Genesis generation.
    • the free product does have the advantage of avoiding the Adjust Rigging to Shape step.

    The other steps are identicals but it may be a good idea to use poses from similar Genesis 9 props, to get a better result. As an example, 'converting' the Chevaleresse Sword to Genesis 9, instead of converting the G3F hand pose, I used the pose from the Iron Lady Outfit and the resulting hand pose looks better.
