  • Where are the clones for Genesis, Genesis 2, and Genesis 3 for Victoria 8?

    Hi, I bought Victoria 8 pro bundle and at this link : https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-8, It's It's writen :

  • Confusion over Figures, Models, Genesis 1-2-3 to 8, Victoria models and so on

If I may, I'm still very new to this and am floundering about with which direction I should go base model wise.

So, If I'm reading this right...

    Genesis 8 is the new Victoria/Michael 4.

Most anything from the Genesis/Genesis 2/Genesis 3 groups can be used (with a bit of fiddling) on Genesis 8, but not the other way around.

Anything labeled 6/7/8 is specifically for Genesis 8, while anything labeled 4/5/6 is specifically for Genesis "1"/2/3, respectively.

Now, in my own flailing about, I've seen that the Victoria 4.2/ Michael 4.2 combination have their own families (Stephanie, Hiro, The Girl, Freak, etc.) all of whick are based off of Victoria / Michael of the past. So here's my first actual question: would something from "back then," Stephanie 2, for example work on the Victoria 4.2 with a minimum of grief providing i have the right add on (Victoria 4.2++ morphs)?

Second question: Where should I be putting my resources when it comes to characters, since it's looking like the Victoria / Michael combo and Genesis 8 are becoming the standards?

  • Daz 3D Introduces dForce Physics Engine

Same here, Charlie Judge. I rolled back the driver for my 960 and just constant crashes. haven't been able to complete any simulation at all.

Loaded up Victoria 7. Loaded the Boho skirt and top. Selected the top and added "dforce modifier: dynamic surface". Did the same with the skirt.

Posed V7 and then hit "simulate".

Immediate crash of DS, along with message that driver had stopped worked etc etc.

So did I do something wrong, or something else happen?

edit: i updated to latest driver tonight. this is error message i get when DS crashes.

I'm about to give up. I rolled my GTX 970 driver back to 387 and I still keep getting crashes like that using Victoria 7 with Belle Dress and  add dynamic surface modifier applied to the dress.

Edit: Also the same with BoHo Dress. Grrr!!!

I have sent an update for the Genesis 3 Female version of Belle dress to PC, hopefully it will be updated quickly.  Whether or not PC chooses to provide dForce settings for it is up to them.

Please grab the scene file on Sharecg that I uploaded this morning and grab the dForce settings for Boho dress from it.

Aave Nainen has just put a dForce preset up at ShareCG for the Boho Dress: https://www.sharecg.com/v/89681/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/dForce_Boho-for-Genesis-3-Female

I haven't tried it yet so not sure whether it will help you at all. I also have guaranteed crashes with the Belle Dress - pleased to hear there may be a fix on the way.

The Belle Dress is quite an intricate item of clothing. It is being redone by the PA.

Thanks Doc, got it :) I'll try dforce again in the morning and see how I go.

how do you roll back a driver? I d/l and install via the geforce thingy - is the one before 388 available on the site perhaps?

People were reporting that 388 wasn't working at all - you might try rolling back (to 387?). I think someone did have the Boho top working - indeed, I think I used it in the beta.

Grab the one you want from this page

The GTX780 I had before did that constantly, I was able to get the card to stop crashing by going into my Windows settings and setting to good quality instead of best.

When using Boho Dress you'll want to set Bend Stiffness to .15 on all surfaces and paint a node weight map onto waistline of the underskirt to keep it from sliding down. Turning smoothing back on after running sim is also helpful. I've uploaded a scene file to Sharecg with Boho dress settings. https://www.sharecg.com/v/89681/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/dForce_Boho-for-Genesis-3-Female

experimented on this one for the first time using dForce, https://www.daz3d.com/rule-of-cute-outfit-for-genesis-8-and-3-female-s

    @ThatGuy Cool! I like your experiment :)

I really loved your outfit. I encurage you to make more cuteness ^.^

Tho, it went a little bit Ka-Boomy in the end of the sim. I deceded it would be best to Zbrush the rest of the way.

    https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/456251/

Angel-Wings -  Thanks! There is definitely more cuteness on the way. I loved your picture, she’s adorable!  And I concur with your statement about the explode-y mesh; I’m frankly amazed that you got it working at all, especially with the separate dress and skirt. Its poly count is a little on the low side for a cloth simulation, too. The good news is, going forward most if not all of my items will be dForce compatible as well as conforming (and cute!)

Thats great to hear. I hope you push forward with more products like these. (Not knocking other Vendors) but I think there is enough Victoria secret top model panties bra's and Honeymoon Lingerie for a 1,000 renders a day for the next 50 years and still have room to spair. Quite frankly its an untapped market that few dare venture, but as I have aways said.. It's not what you sell but the quality at which you sell it.

  • Star Trek Builders Unite 7: The Continuing Mission

Work continues on the Liberty secondary hull. Tried out a few more shapes, settled on a deflector housing and then made a storage container that attaches directly behind it to the hull. The Knight Hawk herself won't have one, but I figure while I'm at it I might as well build a few test options for back there. ;)
I got side-tracked with house painting and work this week, but made use of my time on a conference call to build out some corridor sections for the Liberty. You can see the crew quarters attached to them there. I haven't started fleshing out the crew cabin as of yet.
Then the last two are me playing around with making some of my existing characters into Genesis 3 from Victoria 4 and Genesis without doing a direct one for one with them. I figure if I'm doing a one to one morph conversion at this point why bother making the character in Gen 3 anyway.  So they're carrying the ideas I had for the characters. It's not like I'd already started my story at this point with the other meshes.
    Back to the grind.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps if you want absolutely drop dead goergous how about

    https://www.daz3d.com/lydia-hd-for-victoria-7

To me this is a bit too perfect.

I strongly agree with you and what I'm hoping to see are characters that have so much details in the skin that they look like real people instead of everybody using the same stale old "merchant resource" that has washed out skin with no "real details".  The skin should look real because it has so much detail .. we want fingerprints on the fingers and palm prints on the palms.  The under side of the arm should be a different color from the top of the arms since thats how it is on every human alive.. look at your own skin and make it look like that!  I have micro hairs and small scrapes and freckles.. we need all the details.
Thanks for making a great character. Keep up the great work...

You're dreaming. That level of detail would take an insane number of hours and months of work. The PA would have to charge 100's of dollars at least to make it worth the countless hours to create that level of detail. Creating skin textures is extremely difficult and time-consuming and getting ahold of good high-resolution skin photos to do it can be very expensive.

It sounds like you want a figure that is indistinguishable from a real person - but sadly, 3D figures just aren't there yet.

Most of those details would be useless except in extreme closeup shots, to be honest, which is why I feel most PAs don't bother with them. I have other things I disagree with him about on top of that; not all details need to be seen in all situtations, for one.
