Breast bounce script for DAZ Studio 4.5
I have just bought “aniMate Belly Dancing for Victoria 8” and applied my scripts. The animation would look quite boring without the bouncing parts.
OK I've got one word and one word only to say.
GIMME!!!!!!!!
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 10I liked the skin on https://www.daz3d.com/maria-for-victoria-8 I usuall do a first pass at a render. I need a longer render and to take some shine out of the hair. I had it on 100%. And, I think I need just a touch more light on the face.
Rigging clothing not modelled in default poseThe Transfer utility is for weight-mapped figures, Victoria 4 uses parametric rigging.

Wow! Especially the second animation! Glutes react to motion of body so well :)

A question about the Girl 4?Actually, V4 and Genesis share UV maps, so you can use any textures that you have for V4 (or S4, G4, A4) on the Genesis G4 morph in addition to any actual Genesis textures.
Below (click on thumbnails to enlarge) are two quick renders of Genesis with the G4 morph dialed in (50%) and:
first one is with a Victoria 4 texture applied, the second is with a Genesis (V5) texture applied.

G3F character number 8 on my list is FWSA Samira. She has Short Afro Hair for Genesis 3 and 8 and is wearing Go Go Outfit for Genesis 3 Female(s).
These renders were taking forever to do, so I stopped both of them early and they are grainy. I think it must have been the hair slowing them down, but I wanted to get on with some other Daz work.

Getting rid of bumpy skin--looks somewhat like orange peelI want to apologize for any misunderstanding regarding this issue. I have had a post removed because it was claimed the post was inaccurate and misleading. While I contend it was neither, I do realize that venting publicly over things for which I have no control is unacceptable.
Texture problems are irritating, especially subtle ones that don't show up obviously until you do a final render, so I feel your pain.
Here's a partial render with the settings you gave me. It's pretty good. Thank you!
Scott
There's still a bit of a seam there. You should try set the Top Coat Weight to 0 on the torso and arms. If that doesn't remove the seam, you can try set Glossy Layered Weight to 0 too and see if the seam is gone. I've had seams like this caused by mismatching top coat settings before.
I see that too. Specular might be based off the same maps as the bump.
Honestly, at this point I think I would just keep the diffuse and SSS textures, and swap out the bump/specular stuff with some other maps like Victoria 8's, or any other figure that has nice bump maps.

Number six on my G3F list is FW Art Brooke. I've paired her with Pixie Bob Hair and Office Wear for Genesis 3. I changed the blouse using shaders, but otherwise everything else is standard. I think the hairstyle makes her look a little severe. Her promo images are with long hair and she has a much softer look.

Content Wishes for 2018Victoria 7 for Victoria 8! V7 remains my favourite model. A matter of tastes, I guess. If they made M7 for M8, and several other 7 for 8's, I'm pretty sure they can make V7 for V8 as well!
Oh and I wish there could be also V5 for V8, at least the face.
Problem with characters' hairlinesHi,
I've just come on a disturbing problem with my characters. When I load a character and a hair to go with it, in Iray render I've the result in attached files, some sort of blue hairlines. I didn't modify the characters or the hairs, and the render settings are by default. The ressources used are Michael 8, Victoria 8, Axel Hair and Voss Hair.
Have you ever experience this?
Diomede's Notepad, Sketchpad, and Chilling PadIntroduction - who am I and what am I doing here?
I am not a traditional artist, which will be obvious to visitors who are. My background is in education, financial data, number crunching, legal argumentation, and public policy. Because of this legal and economic training, I have lived in the Washington, DC area off and on since 1986 - usually looking for excuses to move away again.
When successful in my attempts to escape the powers that be, I have also lived in the Philadelphia area, several cities in Texas (love Austin and San Antonio), and West Palm Beach, Florida. Can't complain.Data-related information is near the top of my links post because of my career. Although not an artist, the visual presentation of data and other financial relationships has been part of my workflow for more than 30 years. My interest in computer graphics began when I was in graduate school and the professor for whom I worked handed me the manuals for the university's TV station, and told me I had to find a way to make sure all his economics graphs would be clearly displayed to people taking the course through a cable access channel. That was what passed for video streaming in the mid 1980s. Since then, computer graphics and visual arts have been a hobby. The amount of time I could devote to this hobby has sometimes been zero because life gets too busy, which most people can sympathize with.
Poser was the first 3D art program that I ever used, as opposed to data-plotting graphics. I didn't have much time to use Poser back then, but I generally got the updates and lurked at the forums at Renderosity. Similarly, I purchased the millenium figures from Daz (Victoria and Michael 1) but didn't use them for much either - but it does earn me a very early start date on my Daz account. I acquired a few other programs intending to integrate them with Poser but didn't really use them much either. That includes early versions of Bryce, Carrara, UVMapper, Blacksmith, etc., but again, didn't really use them.
My interest was triggered by the Carrara challenges. By a happy coincidence, a very busy period in my personal life changed, and I suddenly had more free time just when Daz began sponsoring quasi-monthly challenges. Soon, I was kit-bashing Daz content, modeling my ideas, and even creating my own custom rigged figures - all within Carrara. I can happily report that I can start with an empty Carrara scene with just a light and a camera, then fill it with anything from my own imagination - all modeled, rigged, and animated by me. I have a separate thread in the Carrara forum, so expect this Art Studio forum thread to have more Daz Studio - related info and less Carrara, although it will have both.
Now, like Billy Idol, I want more, more, more! To that end, I have been devouring tutorials on other programs and on basic art principles and techniques. I've also been seeking out information on storytelling and writing. This little corner of the Art Studio forum serves as my base as I explore a more creative life. I expect the thread to have more of the journey than the destination; by which I mean that I will be posting screenshots of my workflow as I practice the lessons I am trying to learn. I hope you will join me for some of the ride.
A question about the Girl 4?You say you have her "as a dial". On which figure? Victoria 4 (which is what the original Girl 4 was for), or Genesis? If it's the latter, I suspect you own this product.
Would like to get rid of the older Generations...I've been thinking further about this.
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/start
I'm currently planning on what sku to put where - relating to generations; Victoria 4 and below, Genesis, Genesis 2 etc
This is for figures; I'm planning on separating further. The only problem with using SKUs is that there are some out of sequence
MM DAZ-Poser The divide widensThe thing with DAZ Studio, the way I see it, is, that to get the most out of it, you first have to fork out a lot of cash for the hardware - nVidia-cards with a lot of VRAM and cuda-cores aren't exactly cheap - and then have to invest like crazy in the Genesis line of characters, that aren't exactly cheap either. Pre-Genesis, often characters from the same generation could use each other's textures right out of the box; now every new base character seems to have it's own UV-mapping. Every new pro-pack for every new base charakter will set you back a hundred bucks or so and they get released by one per month and often more - not to mention all of the extra morph expansion packs an cross-generation plug-ins. Every two years or so, after releasing two dozen of base charakters or so, they release a new Genesis-generation and support for the previous Genesis generation mostly stops. (Victoria 4 lasted over six years, is still frequently used in Poser, and is still supported at other stores) Apart from Wilmap's clothing sets, there's not too much free stuff for the Genesis charakters. Also sets seem to be getting more and more expensive, with all of the extra detail and added shaders. To get the most out of Studio, it seems that you have to have at least a hundred dollars to spend every month, which I can't. Even with the free distribution of the base software, DAZ seems to be aimed at the relatively rich. That may be a good business model for DAZ, but it's not good for users with a lesser budget. In the old days, using Poser 4, I used free content only for almost two years (and there was a lot of it) before making my first purchases; that's sort of hard to imagine for people starting out fresh with DS 4.10....
The problem is that while this works for someone who's been in this hobby for a while, if you're just getting into it you're stuck with the problem that Poser hasn't made a decent built-in figure since Allison 2 and hasn't given decent support to any of them since the days of Jessie 2. Which means that someone just starting out will have to spend just as much or more to make Poser usable, as it requires buying your choice of a.) of V4 M4 etc. and all their morphs and accessories, b) Dawn & Dusk and all their accessories, or c.) G2F&M and so on, just to do what you can do with DS out of the box. This is why Poser's been in a death spiral for years. In the long run, the market is driven by new users coming in, since many of the older users do exactly as you say you're doing and buy less new content, and if you're looking at the two options side by side as a newb, DS costs much less to get up and running.
MM DAZ-Poser The divide widensSempie, no one forces you to use Iray and the latest Genesis Line with Studio.
3DL doesn't need a card, and you can render the V4 characters or older Genesis Generations with it. Like, I am still mostly using G2 in my workflow.
But it is true that newer content is mostly for G8 and Iray here in the store. And while I have no problem with smaller Iray scenes, I have saved a lot of money thanks to G8.

I think the least you would need for every Genesis Generation would be the basic morph sets - I only have these for Genesis 1, that was rather functional to start with, with a lot of morphs already built in. For Genesis 2 I have no morph packs, and, through some giveaways from the recent past, Victoria, Stephanie and Lee 6 - in fact, Genesis 2, for me, is still a very new and untried generation, for which I own next to nothing. For Genesis 3 I only have Mike and Vicky 7 during last november's give-away action - (missed out on the infamous big Glitch, though.) For Genesis 8 I have the base characters only, never even installed them yet. I think I only have the first Genesis generation to a point that I could be creative with it; Mike, Vicky, Stephanie 5 and the young teens, and a lot of morph extensions, even a couple of commercial characters, hairdos and clothing sets, and Wilmap really made a lot of clothes for them. (I'm not into fetish, steampunk or fantasy either. and some of the more recent historical clothes seem to be cosplay-oriented rather than accurate; I'm mostly into contemporary, period and historical stuff.) I recently finaly did get AoA's lighting sets and the recent Reflective Radiance set for 3Delight during sales - I was still on Überenvironment, which I found very unintuitive, never managed to wrap my mind around that one. My ancient Quadro 1700 died on me a couple of months ago so I got a new 4GB GTX 1050 ti, which would sort of support small iRay renders - I did manage to do a clothed V5 iRay render with a basic light setup in around 30 mins; the only iRay render I ever finished up till now. Maybe the new Render Throttle for iRay would help; the old one really boosted 3Delight, as I remember it. My DELL workstation my be 10 years old, but it still carries two quadcore Xeon CPUs and 36 GB RAM. So in a way, I could get started with DAZ Studio.
It's just that I'm more comfortable with Poser. I always liked Firefly more than I like 3Delight. EZSkin, a free python script, can marvelously add SSS to ancient skin texture sets, there's a very flexible and very free weightmapped Vicky 4, I've got most of her morph expansion packs, the more recent textures for V4 by Maddelirium, Sabby, Danae, Godin, Sav and others are excellent, Syltermermaid is releasing her old V4 characters for free, at about 10 per month; Mankahoo and others are still doing new hairdos for V4 for very reasonable prices. There's a lot of clothing sets for V4 and M4 that I still have wishlisted, and they usually have very good discounts during sales. There's some excellent free shaders for Firefly, like Bagginsbills' Car Shaders, and Colm's Render Studio lighting sets for Poser produce very nice results. I have Terradome 2 and some of the Dreamland Models suburban sets that are all Poser only. I'm comfortable with Poser, it does what I want it to do, and I never got around even to playing around with my new Studio content.
Fair enough. :) Do what makes ya happy :)

I don't see any mention of iray on the Fairy Haven promo page and this would make me pass it by because I don't have a clue how to do 3Delight. I have Grimwood Manor wishlisted, but it looks like I should add Fairy Haven to the list too.

Frankie is a Fred Winkler Art figure and I've used UH2: Ultimate Color on her Kameron Hair for Genesis 3 males. This probably isn't a very good represenation of the hair, because I'm still learning how to use UH2 hair, and in the promos the hair looks a lot smoother. But I wanted to make her platignum blonde because she has a lovely early 60's film start look about her. She is wearing Urban Survivors for Genesis 3 Males and Females.
For posing, I used the new Z Hot Wheels Props and Poses for Genesis 3 and 8 female but the outfit comes with flat trainers rather than the heeled boots worn in the pose promotion. So I picked a pose where the feet are hidden and made some adjustments to the hands.
