Headshop displays exception message.
Just installed Headshop 2. I have never used the program before and it does not appear to work very well so I must be doing something wrong. I got an exception message. See attached file. I selected Continue and got a screen with a big X. Not sure what the problem is.
Problem with installing the latest version of HeadShotI am wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I am having with getting HeadShop OneClick (WIN) to install with the Install Manager. I can down load the file to my account, but then it does not install. I get the installation failed message in the Install Manager. When I click the "i" for more information I get this error message:
Could not find local ReadMe for: HeadShot One Click (WIN)
Has anyone experienced this and can you give me some suggestions as to what I can do to get a successful installation. I have DAZ 4.9 and I have not had a problem installing any other product that I have purchaed from the DAZ catalog. I greatly appreaciate anyone's help. Thanks!
Gabe
HeadShop OneClick Submitted to DAZ - Best in Class! (Commercial)I thought I read somewhere that the texture created would be 2048x2048, but the fs.bmp file I'm getting is 1024x1024. Is there a setting somewhere for this?
- Greg
Greg, I was informed that the 2048x2048 version did not make it at the initial release at DAZ. They are now updating the downloadable, so I assume if you re-downloaded it, it will be 2048x2048.
If you can't wait until DAZ updates the downloadable, you can get it here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/nhp07axw3e7vpdc/OneClick_Install.zip?dl=0
Use your OneClick key - it will work
Thanks. Do I need to uninstall the earlier version of one click before installing the updated version?
Not really - but just to be on the safe side, you can eliminate the HeadShop plugin folder from DAZ 3D folder. The new install will place the updated new folder back at the same location.
HeadShop OneClick Submitted to DAZ - Best in Class! (Commercial)Folks,
Can anyone point me in the best way to fix the discoloration issue with Headshop One Click?
Everytime I do a headshop One Click, the face looks pretty good, but the interface between the One Click face, and the head itself is discolored. For example:
I am having problems with this also. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

I can apply the default skin, which seems to work, but then loses the texture that HSOC made...
Is there a better way? I suspect this might be a texture issue, so would using "Specify a different Texture Map" help here? If so, is there a easy way to identify the texture map to use, since DAZ Connect, obscures the location in the file system?
What would be the best way to solve this?
One small nitpick, is there a way to easily prevent the bangs from being built into the texture?

I don't know about the first part, but HS will always pick up whatever is in the pic. So if hair is in the face or forehead, that will show. One way would be to maybe edit the photo, or edit the resulting texture. Using the Heal Tool in GIMP or Photoshop would make quick work of it. Just copy/paste from a spot next to the hair with the tool.
If you feel confident with PS or GIMP, you could edit the new face texture over an existing face skin that is a close match, using the heal tool help blend it in. That would make a better blend with fewer or no weird seams and spots.
No matter what, I think one would need to do some work on the textures they get out of this, unless they use some tricks to cover up the seams, like a head full of hair, or a beard.

HeadShop OneClick Submitted to DAZ - Best in Class! (Commercial)Just to keep things together from the previous page:
WORKAROUND
In summary:
1. OneClick works without problems for all users who installed DAZ Studio in the default location, which is c: drive.
2. OneClick works for those who have their content on other drives as long as their User folder is in the c:drive. Inside the User folder are two important temp files that OneClick uses:
In Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ Library/Runtime/FaceShop/fs are temp files OneClick needs to pick up texture and morph information
In Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/Abalone/HeadShop ditto.
Also: Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4/temp/FaceShop (see picture)
In conclusion: If you want OneClick to work properly in a non-default Studio installation, the answer is to create a new c; Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ Library/Runtime folder on your c: drive. Place 2 folder inside: Runtime/FaceShop and People/Genesis 2 Male (and Gen 2 Female, Gen 3 Female etc.). This setup will work - I just replicated and tested.
Just ammended my note with another thing that needs to be on c: (Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4/temp/FaceShop)
EDIT: The TEMP-Folder needs to be changed in DAZ Studio, if you are using a TEMP Folder that is not the default one.
My TEMP folder was D:\DAZRenderTemp\
I just found the missing obj file there while cleaning up after Program deinstallation, as I filed for a refund with Customer Support already:
D:\DAZRenderTemp\FaceShop\fs3d.obj
My guess is now that the entire problem is ultimately caused by that temp folder. That would explain why the program works with some people who have installed the program outside of C drive, but not for other people, like me, who have the temp folder not using the default location. Just adding an extra directory in the default temp folder's location cannot work, because DS will not write the missing obj there, but at the TEMP location that is in the DS settings.
HeadShop OneClick Submitted to DAZ - Best in Class! (Commercial)I have my Daz Studio installed on an external drive, and have for years. I have no problems with getting things to work as such.
My User folder IS in the C: drive, where it should be. But my program and content are on an external drive. I just checked, and the temp files and directories are not be written there.
If, after reading the post above, you are telling me that Headshop needs Daz to be installed on the C: drive. or that I need to create a special directory and copy files around, etc etc, I don't want to waste my time, and unfortunately would like to return the product.
Thank you.
HeadShop OneClick Submitted to DAZ - Best in Class! (Commercial)I have installed this using the manual download and then unzipping the file and selecting the 64 bit install file. Everything goes fine. Checking the plugins installed shows the HeadShop plugin where it should be. All of the other files seem to be where they are supposed to be.
When I start the program, it tells me to select and call up a figure with a head bone, which I do. Then I select the texture and geometry from the menu, and it immediately says it "cannot find the FaceShop plugin", and terminates.
What file(s) is missing from what directory? I can navigate directories to try and locate the problem, but would like a little help here as to what I am looking for.
Thank you
Sorry for the cross-post. I put this in the wrong location

I have watched it twice. I followed it (manual method as it wouldn't install using the downloader install. I get the same error.
Can you please tell me where to find the FaceShop plugin, and where it is supposed to be installed?
HeadShop OneClick Submitted to DAZ - Best in Class! (Commercial)Ok an update on how I got it to work at last.
Fresh install of Daz on drive C:
Installed genesis 2 and 3 starter essentials via DIM, but only after resetting that to default setting so those products install in a new runtime on drive C:
Changed Daz preferences so the 'temp' folder is in its default location.
I found I also needed to move my source face photo do a different location before the changes would stick.
It now works fine. As long as genesis 2/3 are on drive C:, and Daz's temp folder is on Drive C, the rest of my Daz content on drive G: works fine. I can even launch genesis 2 from my G: content library and apply headshop to that with no problems.
I think a footnote on the installation instructions to this effect would go a long way to solving issues a lot of people are having. Obviously a fix to enable headshop to use selected locations rather than just default would be preferable.
Wow... I have moved my Temp folder to a different drive for space reasons, so that might be one od the reasons.
But basically, you just confirmed to me that I will have to return FaceShop. I would have to rearrange my entire system as it is, and as it has been working for the past three years, to accomodate the program.'s inability to handly other directories than default.
What a waste of time.
Good luck and happy HeadShopping to the rest of you guys.
Thank you to the PA for trying to find a solution, but what you need to run your plugin is not something I can deliver..
I'm off to get a refund.

OneClick is far from being the only application that insists on using default locations of User and other Windows 'Library' folders and it's annoying. Such applications usual create those default folders in the default location when they are missing or configured to be elsewhere. Either the newer version of OneClick should create those missing folders or it should use the registry to get the newly configured location.

I have the following folders:

What am I missing?
You may still have other instances of Genesis 2 that Studio is launching. My suggestion is to simply double click on the Genesis 2 Female DSON file, (see picture below) IN THIS FOLDER, which will launch Studio. It worked on my computer, Note: make sure you have all folders for Genesis 2 in the folder as show).

This produce the same results with the twin messages: from Morph Loader - One or more of the files had no effect. See the log for details From Headshop Loader - An unexpected error occured while creating the morph.
I tried copying the People structure to the .../Documents/People in Public to see if there was something that it needed. No difference in error.

Creating or deleting a junction point
Start command tool is Windows Vista or later in Administrator mode.
A junction point can be created in Vista or later
mklink /J <Link> <Target>
To delete it in Vista or later, use:
rmdir
or
fsutil reparsepoint delete PATH
Look at the 2 attached images to see an example how to create a junction point so that DAZ Studio & other programs think a file system is at a location other than it's physical location.
This is very valuable if you have your content or Studio in non-default locations.
You can also redirect in Studio (see attached picture) via Edit/Preferences
Sorry, but those two are doing very different things. The command mentioned by nonesuch tells a programm that the directory G:/DAZ Content/My DaZ Studio is instead in C:/Users/publicDocuments. Using the first method can also lead to loss of data, the warning for the process says. I am not risking that.
The Content Manager changes the actual directory where DAZ Studio is looking for content. But HeadShop does not use the information from Content Manager.
It also does not see when I make an additional install of the Genesis Starter Essentials in the Default Location, in addition to the content described in the Content Manager. Entering the extra location into the content Manager, even put it on top as default, that also does not work. This is the result of extensive tests, and many hours of frustration.
So, the question remains, with DAz Studio installed on the C drive in the default location, and the content in the different drive, why does it not work for some of us?
No it can't. You have to delete the files and directories below the junction to lose them. Same would happen if you deleted them in their physical location. And that is regardless of where the data is installed or how many junctions you make. You delete the junction, you delete the link, but not the original source files and directories. You delete files and directories below the junction, you delete the original source.
Or you have to have HW or SW failures. Files and directories don't disappear simply because you've referenced them via a junction link.
Thank you for the Information. I will give this a try later as a Last Resort tonight. But I wonder if it works, as the additional "physical" installing of the Starter essentials in the C-drive default directory did not solve the problem.
Edit: A summary of what the setup is, and what I tried so far:
The setup is:
- DS 4.8 in the C-Drive; default installation. Windows 10. (My TEMP folders are located on D-Drive, this is set up in the Preferences of DS; no idea if that is of any consequence, as it was not mentioned anywhere in the documentation or videos, or this thread. Also, Headshop creates its own Temp folders on C Drive when installed).
- Content in G-Drive. The G-Drive directory is linked to DS through the Content Directory Manager. Installation is done with DIM to that directory.
- Installed Headshop manually, using the 64 bit version, used default installation path, as the DS program is in the default location. Entered productkey. Checked if all filers are in place, as per installation guide video. Restarted Windows.
- Started DS 4.8, Loaded G2M from Content.
- Started HeadShop through Edit, as per instruction in tutorial video. Selected the face/lips & head, as per instruction video. Tried to save this, but I get an error message that it can't save. So I ignored that, and simply went on without saving the preset. Loaded a picture. So far, so good. Now, the error about the missing model shows up.
- Problem Solution attempts:
- reinstalled Headshop. No change, same error.
- downloaded and installed Genesis 2 Starter Essentials (M/F) and installed them in the default location. Restarted DS. No change, same error.
- Added the default location for content on C-drive to Content Directory Manager as TOP directory. Restarted DS. No chance, same error.
HeadShop OneClick Submitted to DAZ - Best in Class! (Commercial)What version of Daz Studio are you running BeeMkay ?
I think from your content directory image your main install is 4.8 - mine is 4.9
I cannot get the plugin to work in Beta 4.9 so maybe it doesn't work in .either 4.8 or Beta versions?
I have installed the plugin in both, DS 4.8, and the current DS 4.9 Beta. Both have the same content directories, except for the Connect directory.
EDIT: Seeing that the plugin is not supposed to work in 4.9 Beta (it did work fine, except for the Content error that 4.8 also has), I will focus on 4.8 in testing it).
For the Beta, I simply copied the three Headshop Plugin files that are mentioned in the installation guide from the DS 4.8 main installation to the Beta installation; this is usually how you get Plugins to work in Beta.
