War Witch - G9 or G8/8.1?????
Which one will you get? I'm torn! My established characters that I feature in a lot of my artwork are 8.1...so that outfit would work for them. But, I am hoping to transfer to them to 9 at some point, but who knows how long that will be. I guess the question boils down to...
Is it easier to transfer G9 clothing to G8? Or G8 clothing to G9? Which yields better results, especially at the shoulder? Some outfits don't transfer well at the shoulder, especially if there are little wing things that stick off the shoulder. I have clones to go either way...but not sure which one would be better in terms of quality.
How do i fix these heels? At a guess, what you did earlier was adjusting the auto-generated morphs created by DS in the shoes to follow the character morph. You would find them in "currently used" section after displaying hidden morphs.
Computer QuestionNGartplay - I'm assuming the 2 Tb storage is an external drive. I don't use Daz or other 3D programs, for a while I used Bryce from an external drive and it worked well except that I had to attach it to my laptop all the time, later I got a SSD 500Gb drive and on someone's advice here, not sure who, Hansmar, Horo or Dave Savage, I got someone to partition the C drive and now I use Bryce from this partition. When I had problems recently with my laptop, the C Drive was only affected not the other drive where I have Bryce installed. I call it My Bryce Drive. Every now and then I transfer my completed Bryce files to a 2TB external drive. But I don't know about Games as such if they will work from an external drive, Bryce works that's for sure. Hope this helps.
Autofit asks me who the clothes are for but they are for the figure I put them onIf everything else fails, you can use the bone transfer tool. But that would be eliminating the bend morphs created for the figure.
If you are certain you have selected the figure (G8) and not accidently selected another clothing item you already put on the figure, then the best option would be to put in a ticket so that DAZ customer support can contact the PA and have them repair the fit.
I often accidently have selected another clothing item/hair on the figure, and then try to load the next clothing item to the figure - but it tries to conform to the clothing item. Then I also, as you described, don't get the figure for selection, and get weird deformations, because autofit tries to fit the clothing to whatever hair, shoes or other itrem I selected.
This also happens sometimes with hierachical fits, if you try to load several items to the figure at the same time. The solution would then be to load each item single. But as said, if you already ruled out these issues during your troubleshooting process, your best option would be to report it to DAZ.
Broken tusk from Kurdan Hair promo? It was a special morph. Not released.
g3 anatomical elementsHi all,
I require genitalia for the G3 male. In which store item might I find this?
Also, does it come with textures?
I'm not looking for the kind of 'enhanced' versions over at Renderotica, but a standard, human 'member' for antomical illustrative use.
Edit: Some morph packs on Rederotica point back to Michael 7 on the store here, including starter and pro bundles - can anyone confirm that genitclia is contained within both, or just the Pro version?
Adam :)Saving a clothes item doesn't work as I wantSee attachment.
I want to save a shirt with buttons and dforce modifier.
I did try a few times the Wardrobe preset, that NEVER worked, I checked youtube and did then try to create a Prop Asset, that WORKED, but only for the shirt, no Dforce modifier and no buttons got attached.
I "reworked" the garment with the geo-editor (everyone have it in Daz3d! It was a annoying work, but possible!) and want to save my "improved" version ;)
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-hc-pajamas-set-for-genesis-8
Original was it in 1 UV/Surface, I splitted it.
BTW: Why can I NOT use with meshgrabber on the Top of the garment CTRL+Z to revert the last action? This does mainly happen if I have duplicates, like 2x G8F and when I morph one body, then does it not work, but I have only Pant+Top, I can use CTRL+Z on the pant to Undo a step, but not on the Top.
New Rawart animal tomorrow? It's great that we have so many wonderful creature morph makers as PAs. :)
Skeleton for G8 like M4?The skeleton must be fit to M4. Load them both. Right-click on the Skeleton and select "Fit 'm4 skeleton ds' To..". The ensuing dialog will have a drop down list where you can select 'michael 4". This will conform the skeleton to M4 and will follow poses. Then run the pose on the skeleton to align it with M4's mesh.
The scroll in the corner says that there is a Poser file and a DAZ Studio file in the same folder. This was an old accomodation to use Poser content in Studio with one click. There could still be other files for Studio only in the xxxStudioCF file, usually material settings.
From the looks of it, Michael 4 Base was not properly installed. There should be a product called "Michael 4 Base" with all sorts of expressions, morphs and poses, and "Michel 4 Base StudioCF" with simple materials. The Power Loader doesn't show as a product, but it is needed to allow you to configure which morphs are loaded (for other characters like Hiro4, Freak 4 and other morph packs). The fact that you get the scroll means all the files are there, but not quite properly configured.
The "Actor" tag comes from the metadata, which also indicates that files were not properly installed. Which method are you using? I believe you need to use DIM or Central to properly install and configure the Generation 4 characters.

It's in the Grugmar promos, too. Spotted it yesterday and thought it looked somewhat interesting. Was hoping to see what it's bundled with today, but I suppose we'll have to wait another day.
PHEWW, those are Daz Dog 8 paws. So yeah, its (most likely) a Daz Dog 8 morph.
Auto-Morph of FE Medium Hair (drives me nuts)Hi all,
I use FE Medium Hair on a figure. Every time I change the figure pose, the hair gets completely distorted. I tried switching off auto-follow on all morphs, nothing works. I'd just like to have the initial morph of a short hair version but it whirls all over the place as soon as neck turns in any direction.
Any ideas? I searched through posts, videos etc., and it only happens with FE Medium Hair, none other.
Thanks a lot for inputs,
M

Hmm.
Beauty must be in the eye of the beholder. I'm not sure I could entirely agree with you on those, Mary, but I can see why you think they're really good. I have V9, and facially I think she looks stunning. But with her & most of the others I feel they're lacking a little definition on the arms, shoulders, thighs, calves & knees. As if the musculature definition hasn't been sculpted, or the hard boney bits being defined (like the elbow bones, wrist lumps, general bone knobles, hip bone lumps and knee cap edges). Can't really put my finger on it, but I feel as if MSO Fate is getting there, as if Mousso has learnt the tricks needed to work with the new model and is starting to be able to define these items that aren't defined so confidently in some of the other characters.
Regards,
Richard.
Richard, the bodies are what is slowing down my purchases of G9. At this point in G8 and G8.1 I had gone crazy with buying, but with G9 I am holding back, buying more selectively, hoping a PA will come out with the product(s) needed to fix the 'Barbie/Ken' doll aspect of G9. But as I don't render nudes or skimpy wear, it is not a killer also. Another thing right now slowing my purchases is the sheer number of characters I have not reinstalled into my computers. It makes me realize how many similar characters I have that other than the initial test render I have never used again, and which ones I gravitate to when I pull a render together. And they are often not the pretty-pretty ones, but ones with character.
I have found that many of the outfits for previous generations work fine on G9, so I am not too upset for the lack of modern realistic clothing for G9, but I would welcome it.
Same for poses, morph packs, props, sets, and whatever. But I still collect shader sets, can't seem to stop. I think it is the quilter/fabric hoarder in me! A garage full of fabric and books.

Hi. It is not compatible with 8.1F. You build skins on G8F, then you can load them onto G8.1F since G8.1F can use the base G8F UV set as well.
I tried doing that, but the texture map is different. G8F, has body and head, where as the G8.1F has just body.
Apply the maps to Genesis 8 female, save a Materials preset (from File>Save As) and appy that to Gensis 8.1 Female - Daz Studio will do all the adjustments for you.
And if you MUST have it in G8.1 UVs, apply the skin on G8.1, then right-click on the parameters tab and pick map transfer. In it, just create templates for the needed g81 zones and move the needed ones (head and body) into those templates. G81 UVs got.
questionActually there are, I found a couple on sharecg and deviantart, though tough to do a search for. Let me see if I can find the artist, since it's easier to search by their name then a product.
Ok Sickleyield morph packs for Genesis 1 has one and the other versions will probably have it as well. You can find those here https://www.sharecg.com/pf/full_uploads.php?pf_user_name=sickleyield1
You can do a google search for - sharecg ghastly - they have a flat chest morph for Genesis 2
There are also some people who have these morphs on deviantart, however I can not post those links here
Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures part 3Haruchai said:

My guess would be Bella Hadid, as well. :)
I think it's a good likeness. Bella Hadid has changed her face so much, from a nose job as a teen, to lip plumping and several smaller "procedures" over the years and even now... I mean, it must be like trying to encapsulate a shapeshifter's look. She's practically had a head transplant at this juncture.
Especially in the case of celebrities with long careers or who've changed their look somehow since an iconic role & etc, that can be tricky. So, when I see a celebrity morph I reckon has captured that person's image, even if not [necessarily too] specific (ex: Milla Jojovich in "Resident Evil", Natalie Portman in "Léon: The Professional"), I consider it a successful morph.
Wonderfully put. You encapsulated my similar thoughts much more eloquently than I would have :)
Maybe as well as saying who it is we should add when
AOBB's freebie head morph Passionate v2 for G8.1F based on Rita Hayworth. No materials nor textures.AOBB said:
Hi there,
You are welcome and thank you for your appreciation!

Yes, I really worked hard to get the likeness right, although now I think Passionate's cheekbones are a tad too wide and her face should be a bit shorter, so the forehead doesn't feel out-of-balance low. I changed her profile on purpose (mostly nose) to one I found more agreeable. I was really surprised how much I disliked Rita's very sharp profile.
Yes, I've read about Rita's likeness gracing the fuselages of WWII airplanes. Not bad company to fly with.

Enjoy the morph, nonesuch00!
In some photos her face looks shorter while in others you are spot on, with the different lens lengths and focus distances it is hard to figure out the truth sometimes. The main problem is real photos impart that softness of translucent light through the skin that DAZ shader materials, even the best of them that I've seen, never seem to manage, although with some later Genesis 8.1 and Genesis 9 models they are getting close. That translucency can make the geometry in photos seem smaller than it is while the hard edges of DAZ shader materials can make the geometry seem bigger than it is.

Also, what decides a morph to show up where (Shaping or Parameters tab), cos when editing the "group" value, it sometime shows in one but not the other. It's not defined by the Path(what you're referring to as 'group), it's defined by the Type, which is part of the Presentation section.
If the 'Type' is set to none(default for the Create New Property dialog), or Modifier, the morph will only show up under the parameters tab. When set to Modifier/Shape, it will also show up under the shaping tab.
If the morph hasn't been assigned to a "region" then it will never show in the Shaping tab, the "group" is where it will appear under the "region" it's been assigned to.
A couple of examples from inside some DSF files,
"region" : "Actor"
"group" : "/Full Body/People/Real World""region" : "Head"
"group" : "/People/Real World"The "region" you are restricted to the ones coded into the figure, "group" can be anything you feel like using.

If anyone is interested, I ended up buying a fairly cheap helmet model on CGTrader, it was the shape I was looking for and priced right. There are some much nicer ones in the $15-$20 range, but that was more than I could justify for one or two renders I'm going to use it. The one I bought was low poly, so I turned into subd and that worked, and it needed some reassignment of surfaces in geometry editor so I could apply the kinds of shaders I wanted to the different parts. But it worked out well in the end.
Did you rig it to the character (transfer rigging), or just scaled it and then parent to head?
