Something is broken in your system.
Which version of windows do you have?
Is it updated?
Are you able to render with Filament?
According to the properties window it's Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2 Build 19045.2251 and it has Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0
Windows Update says it is up to date
Filament renders OK.
I need to have a look at ways to check the system, I think there are a couple of commands I can use for that. I did a search for the things that were showing as missing and a couple of sites said they are part of the 2015 runtime for Visual C or it might habe been C++, I'll have to look i to that further.
Peter,
Could you check with CFF Explorer the file "dzfilamentapi.dll"? It's inside the subfolder "\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\"
dzfilamentapi.dll requires the api-ms-win-crt files.
Interesting. That .dll shows the api-ms-win-crt files as missing as well but filament does render. If the code contains refeneces to a library that isn't there but it never calls the functions would that work? When I saw stdio in the list my experience with C made me wonder if the developers were using it as some sort of debug console that doens't get used in the release version. But I'm way out of date with current programming methods so I may be talking rubbish.
Did you try to reinstall Daz Studio?
If this doesn't work, you could, if you wish, reinstall or repair the redistributable https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53840
How do I avoid "Topology has changed..." trying to GoZ back to Daz Studio?bigD3d said:
Hello,
I ran into this issue tonight and thought I share what worked for me in case it helps other who come across the forum entry later on...
My item i'm sending to ZBrush is an older V4 clothing item (and I see this issue most often with older meshes like this). I found that I could update the mesh in Daz and then when I used ZBrush, added a morph, and sent it came back the morph was taken. To make the change you can:
Edit > Figure > Geometry > Triangulate...
This converted the entire mesh into triangles, and I'm guessing closed or connected any loose edges/vertices, etc. If you have loaded a texture on it, you can save the figure and the material, and it would propably be best to also save as a new product. The old textures won't work if you reload them onto the item though. But the surface groups are still there so you can add 3rd party textures.
Its not a perfect solution, but hope it helps someone. Oh, and this is Daz Studio 4.16. I'm not sure when this Triangulate... option came, but just in case...
thanks
Thank you a lot! It works!

And since I'm in this forum at the moment, I figured I'd go ahead and show my newest piece using UltraScenery and UltraScenery XT, though I suppose they are not the focus of the image, but I do love working with these products. They're always such a delight but XT definitely tests the limits of my PC.

Looks great and you have 3 figures in the scene.
My computer can barely handle 2 figures and mostly go to CPU mode otherways.

Will there be an update for Genesis 9 figures foe Anilip 2? Cheers
Yes, we are working on a product "Emphasizes Visemes for Genesis 9", which will provide an Anilip2 compatible viseme set for Gensis 9. We will keep you informed in the forum.

Hey, I really like this. What coat textures and lighting are you using here?

Llola, honestly I see that Daz overall is less busy.
- All forum activity seems to be down the last few months by 15-50%.
- All gallery activity is down by about the same.
- All contests seem to be down by some percent.
- DeviantArt.com is way less active since AI exploded on the scene.
- Instagram seems 10-25% of the people who created Daz imagery are also creating AI imagery now.
I'm afraid that AI is affecting everyone's outlook not just in Daz3D. That's my fear. When someone can create images in less than 10 seconds that is better than a weeks worth of editing can do... I don't see how it couldn't affect all art based software.
Your thoughts?
I guess I picked a bad time to start getting into this then :( #LateToTheParty
Hopefully, even tho the AI stuff is bound to increase, there will still be room for us humans to stay relevant.
Oh I think you don't have anything to worry about SofaCitizen... I'll be around at least til my Daz membership gives out... and I just paid til April of 2026! lol

I guess I'm loosing my gang for monthly renders??? Is Independence Day/4th of July throwing you all off??? Remember I'm a little lax with the rules... so anything that is your interpretation from your part of the world is pretty much ok with me :) I'm working on mine... Half a month to go.
Ps... Start thinking if you wanna give up my monthly challenge... I have a great idea for next year but I won't post it if no one seems interested any more. You all think on it :)

ok.. since you asked for my thoughts... I have dabbled a little with AI... but... I do enjoy the process of 'creating'... putting together an avatar... clothes... adding a scene... etc.. etc. The AI artworks that I have seen come no where near realistic. They are rather funky looking.
I can't say what other peeps think... but... I... myself don't see giving up Daz anytime soon. ;) Plus.. I don't like the idea of having to pay for another subscription that the AI companies want... Plus... anyone can steal creations. At least with Daz I can say... "I... made it myself!"
Not sure about your stats... I don't follow the numbers like most peeps. I'm not a popular artist so I know my artwork isn't looked at by most peeps. But I keep trying ;)

Medieval City Block Promo Iray LightingHi Apologies if this is in the wrong forum section bit I'm sort of stumped. Got the Medieval City Block which looks fantastic and as its optimised for Iray I'm going to make an assumption that the promo art was rendered in Iray. Sorry if I'm wrong there. I'm very new to Iray (been a die hard 3DL renderer forever) as all my experiences with Iray have resulted in things being too photo real. But the promos in this set look closer to 3DL and look fantastic. Does anyone have any tips or tutorials on how to use Iray yet get results like this? I'll be hugely grateful for any help. Thank you JayLlola Lane’s RENDER A MONTH Challenge 2022 (CLOSED)junk said:

How do you use the LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer?Shimrian said:
hmm, it does not ever show where it will be installed. I see only the location for the start menu.
The LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer shows up fine, I just can't find the LAMH player (which I think is required for the Catalyzer)? I think the installer isn't actually installing anything except the uninstall files. I'm doing a search on my computer for anything created today.
Acutally it's on the next page after the second one you posted - it's a kind of confirmation page for the options you picked before the install starts.
However, since you have it working through DIM, that's not important any more. Glad to hear you are on track now.

Product File Sizes?McGyver said:
Edit: actually I might imagining this, but I think back years ago (2012?) when DAZ switched over to a new forum and they redid the store too, I or someone else asked this question again because since they were starting new, why not add that tidbit of knowledge going forward, and the answer was basically "we can't go back and add all that info to every product" or something like that...
They do have all the files and writing some code that scans the file sizes and add the data to the product database should be simple. An extra section on the product page showing file sizes shouldn't be a big deal to add either.
But there's always the performance issue, the more info to collect from the database and display on the page, the slower page load will be. DAZ products pages are already pretty slow to load and fast page loading is one of the most important things on a site, for customers.
Product File Sizes? No, there isn't. I tend to go by the number of texture maps (usually the UV mapping isn't optimized) or compare it to the size of other products the PA, in question, made. As for characters, unless it's some monster, I also avoid buying human characters with "baked-in" HD morphs.
Unlike other users in this forum, I do not want to waste my time with filing a ticket for a refund. I want to buy something useful, to actually use it, and not return it.
How do you use the LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer?Ok, I installed the DIM and was able to install the product through that, but could not find a way to install using the installer that came with it for manual install. I did have to uninstall the Catalyzer from Daz connect and reinstall it using DIM to get it not to crash. I originally was able to install that one with Daz connect, but maybe it wasn't installed correctly? Now wolf 2.0 and fox work! I might pick up the skunk, but I don't see a Catalyzer option for it.
For anyone that finds this post in a search, it does seem it needs to be installed using DIM and the download for zip with the .exe will not work on Windows 10 (as far as I can tell).
