well technically it was a reply to a post ypu removed too (I never got an email) but not being able to upload images has been an ongoing problem and the forum is littered with posts on it
mine was just a link to a post where I actually got one to upload demonstrating there are windows of opportunity where it sometimes works

Wendy that's awesome!
That pic probably saved me hours and hours of experimenting, tbh. I totally forgot that the % of hair showed in the assembly room affects what the plugin converts, even though I'm pretty sure I read that in a forum thread years ago it was in one ear and out the other as it wasn't something I was focused on. Thank you!
Also fun to see the hair in action in an animation. Looks like it converted great! :)
ByeI think almost everyone on this forum has Blender. It's free after all, so why wouldn't we?
I don't claim to have any sort of huge mastery over it, but I've got it. I just don't use it much. In fact I use Studio a whole lot more often, even though that's a software I mostly hate using. But it's useful for rigging and importing morphs on my Genesis figures, so I use it as a Carrara plugin.
Whenever I see someone suggesting Blender, I'm often at a loss as to who they're talking to. I mean, is there anyone who has played in this hobby for any amount of time who hasn't already heard of and downloaded Blender?
Actually I take that back, there may be some people who are brand new to Studio who don't know about other software (but probably not many), however I'm baffled by the notion that people on the Carrara forum would never have considered Blender before. I mean, I may have been living under a rock for the past 20 years, but c'mon :)
Is there a way to only download Carrara 8.5 pro?Yeah I've never done anything except manual downloads. I sure don't use DIM or whatever daz's thing is. Diomede beat me to it, but yeah, you sure can. Just go to your product library, search for Carrara 8.5 pro and pick the manual download option (like Diomede said, it's about 150 MB for Win 64, which is what I use).
Product Not Installing Properly - RESOLVEDhttps://www.daz3d.com/mad-for-plaid-texture-resource-
I purchased the mad-for-plaid textures and used DIM to install it, but it is no where to be found in my products pane. I've also looked in the Content Library and there is nothing; a search also turns up nothing.
I uninstalled it with DIM and then reinstalled with just the same results.
Is there some 'special' way to get this one to work?
Regards.

I know personally that trying new software, especially a free alternative to a paid one is hard. What have you got to lose other than a little bit of hard drive space and a few hours to learn something new? Its interface is not as scary as it use to be.Very presumptious of you to say that people here are afraid to try Blender. I use Blender that same way that I use Daz Studio - to get otherwise unavailable stuff into Carrara.
As for the hours it would take to learn "something new," I prefer to spend those hours learning to use the very deep software that I already enjoy. I know, how weird is that? :)
Regarding your "quality of life" requirements, those are very personal. My experience is that Carrara is VERY stable. And I could care less about a 4K monitor..
It seems strange to me that people post on the Carrara forum, and infer that Carrara is now sadly inferior to the new stuff. This generally doesn't go over too well. If you made the same kind of statements on the Bryce forum, I think that you would get a similar response.

Hmmm...: "Bump Post". That sounds like something you'd see at a rave. Or alongside a wharf.

@ Saxa:
Why all I get are workarounds when we need is fix the bugs? I'm not making crazy requests, I'm just asking for bug fixes! Just make things work correctly, nothing more!

Why I have to keep using an old version with less features to make things or waste lots of time using workarounds in newer versions?
I agree, as workarounds with this community usually mean that the original bugs won't be addressed, as we commonly treat workarounds as a solution when it is not.
The problem with this is when a bug affects one component, it may also affect other systems/processes not yet noticed with the original bug, but are still related as they may affect something similar that hasn't been noticed yet, so it is best to cut it out before it is compounded by other bugs not taken care of from earlier workarounds!
Bugs are bad. But are all of these issues actual bugs? Or just some?
Bear with me please as i try to explain.
When it is posted that:
(1) pupeeteer dots don't work in timeline. That's not a bug. It's a feature that is not available AFAIK. DAZ internal decision. Arguably monetary? Maybe not. My 2 cents would guess it partly is.
(2) Can't save custom actions. Yes you can. Works pretty fast when you get process familarized. Just not the way that some users might want. Get that. But, so doesn't seem like a bug.
(3) Moving keyframes. Should be a second option for easier and faster. But works fine with option one. So it's not a bug. Again a feature that is not made to work like many users might want ot expect. But not a bug.
(4) Grey renders for skin now in lastest beta. Odds of DAZ devs being able to correct Nvidia's Iray new features to make skin render the same with all those variables and light changes too is pretty much not to good. Would be nice surprise if wrong. This isn't a bug for me. Its just another unfortunate feature as IRAY develops and in turn affects another software version release.
That said, Identifying this issue is cool and important. Maybe DAZ can address? Am not counting on it though. So just adapted again.next new Daz Studio version = new changes, some of which will impact your workflow in a new way
Such as render tints changing possibly based on new IRAY kit. What some may see as a workaround may actually be how it's intended, for now, and maybe for a long time.
DAZ Mods have stated many times if you don't like something open an honest thread and discuss and see what extent of issue is and see if other users feel the same.
That is suggest an option 2 for doing something better by sending DAZ feature requests when well and carefully reasoned. To me that means show DAZ that your idea and workflow adds enough to costs to warrant change. It has to be a rationale process with best chances to succeed.Saying something is a workaround doesn't mean necessarily enough users and devs will agree with this. And for the record, sympathize with any animators who want to work a certain way. It's why i have little to do with Blender after having used it alot for a year and not findin it synced with me.
Some may say these seem like workarounds. (sorry forum TOS makes me have to write this as idea focussed)
I see them more as this is how software works.
With each next verison possibly changing how things work.
Each user decides if good or bad.
Seems choice then is adjust or fight. I'd rather adjust.
But that's a whole another thread to discuss. Don't want to derail this thread anymore.Announcing: Daz Deals Browser Add-on IIPerttiA said:

Name of the Character PleaseRichard Haseltine said:
Moved to Product Suggestions as it is not a Daz Studio topic.
You could try searching the forum for the product name, if that is a promo image for a product - someone may already have asked. If it's a game screen shot or the like it may be a maixture of sources.
yeap it's agame image but atleast if i someone able to let me know what skin has been used on her i maybe able to get even closer but so far it got to be a character without adding to much other morphs because i've seen her in other game as well.

Hi,
I have a odd issue.
I use Daz-Deals on Firefox and it appears to be omitting some (2153) items from the shop page; this shows 42145 items (I have pictures but the forum barfs when I try to paste them in or upload them)
Whilst on Opera (without Daz-Deals) it shows 44298 items
This happens regardless of whether I have "signed into" my wishlist or not; Firefox on a different laptop without Daz-Deals puports to show all items (haven't counted them yet to confirm ;D )
Also, I do not have any Hidden Items in Daz-Deals.
Curious, but not deperate, to know which items I'm missing out on ...
Thank you for a helpful add-on
Do you have "Show Mature Content" checked on the store page?
Website improvement DAZ3D.COM - Product metadata/keywordsIt isn't exactly a product improvement, but relates to products... specifically, locating products. The website desperately needs an overhaul and one of the biggest areas would be that of metadata. Locating a product is often difficult and the metadat is sorely lacking. You can search all around a product you've seen before and still never find it. Most of the time I resort to going to google and doing a search out there in order to find something on the DAZ site. That's pretty sad. With advances in AI, there has to be engines that would analyze an image and generate keywords. This would do a good deal of the heavy lifting in generating some additional product search terms. The invetory of products is huge, ant the task is daunting, I'm sure. But starting with newer products and working backwards would make sense. And moving forward, initiate a requirement for new products to include broader general search terms. I mean this should be of great interest to DAZ as it drives sales. One cannot purchase what one cannot find. While your at it, have PAs list other (indirect) products used in generating promotional images. This also would increase sales. Anyone agree with this notion?
No one asked me - Diomede screenshots on whatever - Warning AI Discussion OKModeling in Carrara to Share - Forum Frustrations.
I did some basic modeling of props from Gilligan's island, inspired by Dave's wacky modeling thread. He had posted the SS Minnow, and I thought the castaways could use some props. I did quick and dirty models of the radio, a coconut cream pie, one of the coconut cups, and one of the fancy bamboo drinking glasses with the straw and umbrella. With Carrara's UVMapping and 3D Paint tools rather crude, I intended to post the Carrara props here in the forum threads, then maybe revisit the models down the road with better UVMapping and texturing tools. Maybe post cleaned up models with PBR shaders over at ShareCG, which would also be compatible with Carrara, but also the various other rendering programs. Argh. The forum is bonking my uploads and I am tired of trying to post the zip files and test renders.
Am trying to decide if it is worth uploading the Carrara models with not-so-good shaders to ShareCG and posting a link here. Or, should I stick with my original plan and not post to ShareCG until I get around to making PBR shader versions.
Grr.
