  • "Brace yourself, my dear wallet! There's always another Sale - and Glitches!"

    This content:
    https://www.daz3d.com/mastering-daz-studio-content
Is terrible. The guy rambles, loses himself, has a terrible monotone delivery style that makes me want to fall asleep and so far I'm an hour into the "tutorial" which is just a video of a live web session... and he hasn't told me anything I didn't already know.  The price, even discounted, is too high. I don't generally like to trash any content - but at this price, this is as terrible as Headshop OneClick - which is the only other piece of content I've bought in over a year that I felt this strongly about. It feels like he is figuring out how to do it as the video goes along, with a lot of points where he is talking to himself more to the audience and then suddenly, Eureka, "Oh, there you go! That is how you do it!"
He also doesn't understand basic things about PC technology - which is why he can't figure out why DAZ won't install directly to his NAS (my guess, he never mapped his NAS folder as a shared drive with a drive letter on his PC...)
Avoid this content at any price, but especially at the price being asked for it.
I bought it a couple of weeks ago and just got around to watching it now. I tried to give it a chance, but an hour into it, I was going, "this is a waste of my time and was more or less theft of my money..."

  • Hoping for some info from HeadShop One Click users

[Hoping for some info from HeadShop One Click users] Basically...how is it?

I am really tempted to get it because the possibilites it offers seem fun! Imagine being able to have A-List casting in your renders! But after looking around the net a bit, I read that it's not 100% reliable for that...but still produces some interesting looking characters. That in itself is nice since most of the figures here are on Daz are beautiful/handsome and lets be honest, most of us are pretty normal looking.

What gives me pause is after watching a few videos on it, it seems like it basically graphs a picture onto the Daz figure, including any locks of hair that might be near the face. Are you then able to apply a skin shader from a different model to it so there is some uniformity to the skin?

Basically any pros and cons anyone has would be great to hear. Daz has a great return policy but I'd rather not jump through those hoops if I can avoid it.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Headshop oneclick not working

This morning I bought the plugin, installed properly and... It doesn't work!

After selecting the photo, it says "DAZ model not found" and clicking on the "OK" button it gives me a runtime error sating "Value can't be Null" and a reference to the image.
This happens with ANY kind of figure, Genesis 1,2 and 3...
    What's happening?

    *EDIT*

Found a folder path that obviously doesn't belong to my system... Someone knows how to fix it?

  • Photoshop 3D installation

    Hello

I just bought Headshop 9 in the Daz3D shop.

The Instal Manager commes with the following error:

Install Manager cannot find a required path. The package for "Photoshop 3D Bridge for DAZ Studio 4.9+ requires that the installed path for "Photoshop CC, CS4, CS5, CS4 (64-bit) " be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "applications " page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

How do I get to this dialog?

How do I install the path?

    Thank you

  • Best way to restore DAZ Studio, etc after re-installing Windows

Due to issues unrelated to DAZ, I have to reformat my C drive and re-install Windows. I will need to reinstall all my apps, including DAZ Studio 4.9 and related apps (like DAZ Install Manager, Bryce, Carrara, iClone, Poser, Headshop, Hexagon, etc). Part of what will also change is that some of these were installed to D:\Program Files, and after the re-format, all programs will be on C. Most of the serial numbers are up in the cloud in my DAZ Account, so getting the programs themselves back doesn't look too difficult.

I have multiple Content Directories, and I've used robocopy to ensure I'll have backups of those directories. I also have backups of my InstallManager/Downloads directory will ALL the zip files and manifest files. Will merely putting these files back to where they were (and re-creating the Content Directories list) be sufficient? I'm trying to avoid blundering into a situation where I have to use Install Manager to re-install everything.

I posted a related question in another thread (I think this one will be easier for folks to find later) and Richard Hazeltine responded:

    +++

The content manager database is in C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\Daz 3D\cms (settings) and the \Content Cluster subfolder (the actual database) by default.

DIM tracks its installations via the manifest .dsx files in (as I recall) Public Documents\Daz Install Manager\Manifests

    +++

Is there anything else from AppData that I need to preserve? Will Daz Connect data be preserved if I just robocopy the files from that directory?

If you've been through something like this and have experience to add, I'd love to hear from you!

  • HeadShop OneClick (WIN) Profile function

    Hi,

I have installed HeadShop OneClick (WIN) August 2017. It is possible to create a raw head based on the front view, however, the profile view doesn't work. I can draw a profile sometimes - the program functions randomly. And the drawn profile will maybe/maybe not be transfered to the profile shown to the right for a very short time, when I press return. But I cannot tranfer the profile to the 3D-head even if I manage to tranfer it to the profile shown to the right. The pictures of the program interface shown in the pdf instructions are not the same as in the program interface I see - both for face and profile. I have installed the program manually 3 times - just to be sure. The program seems to be a draft - not af finished QA'ed program.

Have you been able to use the profile function?

    Best regards

    Lars

  • What are your must have character creation tools?

This is a bit off topic.  But, do any of you guys remember a program that could take a flat photo of a cityscape and pull 3d shapes to create a usable 3d city model?  I actually owned this in the 90's and can't remember what it was called.  It came out about the same time as Bryce and Carrara.  I haven't seen it since, but can't help but think that would be good for making semi billboard type backdrops for Studio.

Well I have read of such techniques since and FaceGen and HeadShop/OneClick both use varients of such an algorithm.

Here is the latest I've seen of such research & tools:

    https://unity3d.com/solutions/photogrammetry

And a link to recent blog post regarding Unity 3D's progress on doing a lot of the things DAZ Studio, Carrara, and Bryce do:

  • HeadShop OneClick Submitted to DAZ - Best in Class! (Commercial)

    I have Headshop 10.2

    Two issues.

    1. Attached is what I get if I open a previously created figure using HeadShop. The 'main' eyes appear to be the original Genesis2 and the fainter eyes underneath appear to be the HeadShop morph. How do I fix this?

    2. I loaded both DAZ Studio 4.9 and HeadShop in their default locations. All the program files and saved work I have done are on Drive :C. If I export a newly created HeadShop to DAZ it works OK, but if I open a previously saved HeadShop project  and try to export it, I get "One or more of the files had no effect. See the log for details." Why won't the export work?

In addition to my original post (above) I want to add firstly that I emailed HeadShop help and got a reply to Skype them but I have to figure out how Skype works before I can do that (yeah, I'm a technodweeb). I can't call because I live halfway around the world. Secondly, I have read this thread from start to finish and all my settings are correct as per previous posts. I appear to be getting the vortex count mismatch which I can't understand as I am using Headshop as a plugin. I have included the last few lines of the log below.

Sorry to put a HeadShop 10.2 question in a OneClick thread, but the issues discussed here seem to match the ones I am having.

Thanks for any help anyone may be able to give.

  • Morphs from G3 to G8

Redz!!!! Thank you SO MUCH!   Spent an hour and a half trying to build up a Blender file for morphs (still haven't figured out the proper vertex count) - never dreamed it would be so easy to tranfer my old ones (and now with better expressions)!   Also my Headshop investment is not obsolete! Thanks again!!!

  • Facegen now on sale...get it!

    @spleenrippa

oh this old chestnut yep I had problems here too ok what you gotta do is click the modify button to search now my daz and content is NOT on my main C drive but on another too mine being my F drive so navigate to there and find the folder My Daz Library - open that now look for a folder called - data - open it next scroll down to a folder called - Daz 3D (now there is other daz ones too but you want this one) open that and inside you'll see sub folders for Genesis, Genesis 2, Genesis 3 and other daz and inside each you'll find the folders for the female and male bases just click to highlight select it

now your textures when you want to import them will be located in the textures subfolder in your runtime folder and your morphs will be located in the data folder I mentioned, which in studio will be in the shaping tab section - with your charcter selected select head your morph may be near bottom of list. With the textures select surfaces and select torso for torso, legs for legs, arms for arms, for head though select face lips and ears to change this is g3 btw, g2 gotta select a lot of other parts

if you create a g2m/f  character you need to edit the face texture in your desired paint program to get rid of the black just open up the texture and use your clone brush to copy the skin texture and paint over the black background had to do this with faces made in headshop too

when you change the textures you have to select more body parts to corospond to the facegen textures you made

for the face select to change Head, Lips, Face, Ears

for limbs select - Feet, Forearms, Hands, Legs, Shoulders

for torso select - Hips, Neck, Nipples, Torso

if you don't have each of these body parts selected for these specific textures you'll eith have black parts or weird mismatched colours

just had a look at the g3 textures could probably fix these in painting program but not as easy as replacing black in the g2 textures

  • Headshop Oneclick, the eyes

I finally picked up oneclick and I was messing around with it learning the software. I decided to start with the character Daenerys Targaryen (Emillia Clarke) because I found a good frontal picture of the character with a neutral expression pretty fast.

Anyways, her eyes are a bit larger than normal and I had to adjust the dots for the lower eyelid and the corners. But the created morph streatches the eyeballs themselves so when I use standard Bree textures, the cornea and Pupils look oblong. How do I either fix this or keep this from happening?

  • Creating characters based on real people

Even with Facegen, expect to do some tweaking to get the shape right.  It's rare that you can get an exact match.  It will help if you have well lit, hi res photos of your subject...neither too little or too much light.  I find with over exposed noses, you often get crazy long ones.

I own Headshop as well.  I don't recommend it, even though it does work.  Comparatively, it is much harder to get a good result.  And, the plugin tends to crash on my system.  It does have potential.  But, it just doesn't seem that they've ever ironed all the bugs out of it.  The only think I do like better in Headshop is the ability to tweak shaping points and texture points.  However, this isn't much help if the plugin crashes.

Both products suffer from export issues.  I don't mean that it is all their fault.  Because of the differences in the face making software meshes to the various output models of Genesis, G2, and G3, the face you get once exported will look just a bit different than it did inside the face software.  If you're really trying to duplicate someone, you'll probably have to get used to how things are translated out of the software into Daz, then make adjustments.

    It can be done...good luck!
