question to Unity_Engine users
I have tried different Genesis 8 characters with clothes in Unity and all works well.
The big problem is Genesis 8 hair - most of G8 hair are too high poly.
I have found the older hair (Victoria 4 / Michael 4) looks quite ok in Unity and such hair has not so mych polygons.
Mei Lin 8I'm not interested in Mei Lin, but I like the Hyorin figure they did for her. Can someone show an example of Hyorin without Mei Lin? Unfortunately the only headliner figures I have are Zelara, Victoria, Teen Josie, & Monique.
Beta vs nonbetaThanks guys.
I might as well use this thread to as another thing I´ve been thinking about.
Are there advances in mesh/technology between genesis8 (the base) and the different daz original figures that come ou(like Mika, Victoria, Charlotte etc)?
Or are they just charactermorphs? I have been pretty much just using genesis and making my own morphs, but I have always wondered if I am missing some updates for each of these figures.

Could you please save out that glitchy camera as a preset and attach it??
Thinking I could try create a simple scene using DS free content, and try replicate the issue...
In terms of popular Genesis content, I have, for instance:
Stephanie 5 Starter Bundle
Aiko 5 Starter Bundle
David 5 Starter Bundle
Michael 5 Pro Bundle
Victoria 5 Pro SuiteMost oldtimers would own at least something from this list.
I must be a newbie after all, never bothered to get the pro bundles, just have the morphs. I'm addicted to morphs;)Those pro bundles - and especially the "suite" - were THE cost-effective way of getting a load of original Genesis content. The "suite" was effectively V5 Pro bundle plus this: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-starter-bundle - and I then waited for a sale that brought the price at least 50% down... :)
The starter bundles I got three years later in one amazing promo which made them either free or almost-free, can't recall.
Genesis 2 and 3, those I never invested in much. Most of my Genesis 3 content came from last year's Thanksgiving freebiemania =)
...I've been able to get the Genesis Starter Bundles with every iteration of the figure without buying a Suite bundle.
I stopped bothering with Starter/Pro bundles after Gen4 as back then the bundles also included the advanced head, body & expression morphs, a skin pack, and a couple pose packs (all pretty useful and basic for doing anything with the character). With Genesis that all had to be purchased separately even though they were still a basic necessary (all the add on characters like Vicky, Mike, & such required them). The pro bundles instead became little more than collections of clothing, hair and, couple character morphs and an extra pose set (Genesis base figures used to include a basic pose set, but that that was eliminated during G2's run). Much of the time the offerings in teh bundles were items I didn't use, like fantasy themed & skimp wear, and character morphs I could create on my own, so I would just purchase a basic figure (if I felt it would help with character development) and then added the items to go with it that I actually would use.
The introduction of Iray has saved me a lot of money, I basically had to re-think the whole shopping thing. And so now when we finally have pathtracing at our hands, it's yet again a new deal. I find it necessary to experiment with the old stuff before starting to buy into something new;)

Why are Genesis 3 female faces more sexy & attractive than Genesis 8 female faces on average?Agreed.
One thing I noticed was that Victoria 7 is VERY cute, but Victoria 8 not so much, and Raiya---for the past 3 generations---has used the respective Victorias as the base for the majority of her characters. Consequently (maybe, I can't be sure if this is the actual reason), her Victoria 8 characters have looked more mature, and she has used the Base G8F for her younger-looking characters. It's a lot easier to make a gorgeous girl if you start off gorgeous.
Charlotte 8 and Zelara 8 have helped raise G8F's cute quotient, but Charlotte's face morph is so distinct that I can only dial her into one girl in a group. Victoria 7 does not put her stamp on faces that have her dialed in. I've taken to doing what Cybersox does: I use both generations together. If Genesis 3 had the expression control and HD expressions that 8 has, I'd use it even more.
OT: But I'm still using G3M for many of my main male characters because we've only just gotten enough variety in the faces to get the cast I seek (though Emma&Jordi's and Rarestone's morph sets give G8M powerful flexibility that I've come to rely upon). I need three more adult Caucasian non-stylised Daz Originals Genesis 8 Core characters with HD Add-Ons to get the kind of coverage I want in G8M, especially since Male-M3dia has only released two male morph sets this generation (his head morphs have the kind of distinctive detail that few if any PA male characters have).
Missing Items in Refreshed Daz Install Manager contentI was trying to solve a few problems I created for myself, and decided to uninstall all my DIM items, and then reinstall them. When I completed the reinstall, I discovered that Genesis 3 Male and Female are no longer present in my Smart Content, also missing are purchased items G3F Ashlyn and V7 Natasha which I purchased on July 8 2016. Other items I purchased that day are installed.
There are icons in the smart content for G3F, G3M, Ashlyn and Natasha, but they are "blank" and raise an error when I click them. Other items that were installed also fail for the same prereq reason. Victoria 7, icon is there but she will not load because G3F is missing. Genesis 2 is there and loads correctly.
I have a separate library for non Daz purchases, and characters from Renderosity etc also fail to load because G3F is missing.
In DIM the "ready to download" count is zero, and the "ready to install" count is also zero.
What have I done wrong?

Maybe I should start selling it as an Fx camera that totally messes up your character, leaving clothing untouched

Yes I can do that;)

Hmm yes I've certainly checked out the sales, turned out I pretty much own all the content already so no use in getting those bundles. Last year's sales will forever stay in my memory though, farout=))
? Genesis 2 Character UV Matching Guide ?Generally under What's Included towards the end, it will list what UV map the textures are for. If the character is on a base figure (like Aiko or Victoria) that has a special UV, that is the UV most likely used on the character.

Are there any promos of the content of the Genesis 2 Starter Essentials?OK. As I said, you are pretty much going to have to create your own thumbnails for most of the content. There are a few exceptions - for example, the pinup bikini is actually the String Bikini for Victoria 6 product, and the pinup hair is actually the Charm Hair product, etc. You can get thumbnails for those from your downloads or from their product pages.
Strange issue with eyes from Generation X2 converted figures..I am having an issue with eyes on figures I have converted from Victoria 4, Genesis and Genesis 2 figures to Genesis 3.. I have all the required plugins and what not so no problem there, but anyway the issue at hand is the when I load the saved figure into studio and use the eyes side to side or just rotate one eye, the pivot point of the eye has moved forward instead of being in the centre of the eye..
And as such when when rotated the one eye will rotate out of the eye socket while the other eye will sink back into the socket and well look weird.. I am not sure why this is happening but it is a nuisance and not really sure how to fix it. I have supplied to images the figure is set to base resolution to show what happens the strange thing is that some conversions are worse than others.. Any help please would be greatly appreciated thank you.. :)
Center of mass [solved].Hello,
Just to add some informaton to this thread. I wrote a Poser Python script that computes the center of mass based from on biomechanical data (Weight of segment and location of segment center of gravity). The script also calculates the base of support and test if the figure is out of balance. The script is for Victoria 4 but can be adapted for other figures. You can find the script at:

Is Carrara Pro worth it?Hello, I am a year new with Daz3d. I've been watching and learning Daz3d, Poser, Blender and other programs to determine which would be the most user-friendly (aka idiot-proof) program for me.,
I am old and disabled; so if I do accidentally learn anyting i won't have much longer to enjoy it (Iol) . With that said, I noticed an incredible deal on a product called Carrara Pro ($32.50, less my $6 coupon)
The obvious is YES! it's worth it because you get both Michael 5 Pro AND Victoria 5 Pro bundles, but when I say "worth it" I mean to learn and use. I'm not that far along with my Daz3d knowledge. Heck, I' barely figuring out how to move the characters and now I want to what? Yes, do have some nerve to ask if this program is "worth" the time now (and in the future) to learn. I'm deciding which other program will be around to compliment Daz3D in the future. So this question is directed to those of you already familiar and comfortable using Carrara Pro. Has it made a noticeable improvement as compared to how you used Daz3D before you learned Carrara? Thank you in advance.
Yes, it is truly a "bargain" because you get those two pro bundles as well as the basic program for just a little more than the MSRP of the Digital Painter Shaders program included. So as a frugal, old disabled person on a fixed income that is a Daz3d fanboy for life, I can surely say "yes" it's worth it economically without a doubt. But even $26.50 ($32.50 minus $6 coupon) is quite a bite out of my monthly allowance. At my learning pace, by the time I get around to installing it, the return policy will have expired. Thank you for your inputs. It's Raining Men contest - Voting Now ClosedRepurpose category
- there is also a prize for best repurposed content. Carrara is a great tool for this category. The idea is to take an item intended for female figures and repurpose it in some way. So hone your kitbashing skills, or apply the VWD plugin, use the vertex modeler. Get creative and show the Carrara flag to a larger audience.
For example, I took a corset designed for Victoria 4

,
and turned it into a landscape with two huts.
Hair style from 'The Spy who Dumped Me'Ok ok, lets point them... Ronya Hair is the one and the second is Samira Bob Hair for Victoria 4 and Genesis 3 Females.
Where are the highly detailed, muscular HD-Addons for Genesis 8 female? Like Ophelia 7's HD-Addon?hi Heckbarth. They've never done hd add ons for the bases closest would be Victoria as she and Michael are their flag ship characters though think content creators that sell to daz do get some sort of hd add on to make their characters hd if they want
32nd Daz3D Bryce Render challenge ### In The Dark Of The Night ###Well I'd best get this one in before the competition closes. As it's Halloween, I just had to do something sort of along those lines.
A fair bit of simple modelling in this. Also Victoria 4.6 with the Tiffany character (from Thorneworks) and West Park Hair.
Also featuring in the scene: The four framed pictures on the wall are renders I did three or four years ago and have revisited recently to have prints done for sale in a local gallery cafe, the Bryce controls (that I made for my Bryce in a Box advert) that sit on the end of the bed wooden chest as ornaments, the bed is a freebie from 3DArchive and is textured with my photo based wood material available on ShareCG and the wallpaper is the 'Flock' design material I made at the start of the year.
The scene is lit by one single radial light with Fall Off set to 'Squared' and tinted blue to give the impression of a TV screen just out of view.
Rendered with TA and Soft Shadows at 36rpp. Render time 1.56
Title: The Monster Under The Bed
Dave Savage, I really liked the plot, lighting and composition. Bravo!
