  • [Released] Character Converter from Genesis 3 Male to Genesis 8 Male (Now Conv JCMs) [Commercial]

I've tried using the G3 Male to G8 Male character converter following the instructions from the tutorial video, but every character converted ends up with a weird neck deformity. Am I doing something wrong or is there a way to fix it?

It sounds like you moved the G3 Male or G8 Male and the morph is trying to pull the neck across to the other figure.  You need to go and delete the converted morphs.  Restart a scene with G3 and G8 in the default pose and at the default, origin position, and then do conversions.

I'm confused. I didn't have any figures in the scene at all when I began. I started with a blank scene like the instructions said, picked the character presets and told it to execute.

Just deleted all the morphs and tried it again using the same process, and ended up with the same result. Neck's are still pulled out.

ok so you said to get file path from parameter settings then delete affending morph. But what if the parameter has no file pathing listed? The name entry also seems to be malformed or missing.

I am away from my Daz computer, but perhaps no path is showing because you are pulling up the properties for 2 morphs? Based on the png path, the morph is probably in My Library/data/Daz 3D/Genesis 9/Base/Morphs/Mousso/Miriam

  • Pre- Genesis 9

A tool is a tool. Not everyone needs all the tools possible.
There are some products for G9 that look really nice, a couple of hairs come to mind that are not already available. I actually dont see much difference in a render with G8 or G9. My only deal was that I'm not going to buy all the rehash that pops up every generation. Once you have a hundred characters, of any generation, do you really need 100 more, especially when you can spin your own just buying a couple morph packages?
Now you can even use G2,3,8 skins on G9 ... so why not use Skin Builder and knock yourself out?

  • Morph "limiter"

    Hello,

While creating custom clothes, I've tried to add morphs but... they appear in parameters instead of shaping and they don't have limits. I'm missing something somewhere but where? Any hint?

The Converted Character’s Body is wrinkled.  Because of the way that morphs must be converted, a morph that on Genesis 8 appears to only touch a small part of the head can affect the whole body on Genesis 9. You need to show Currently Used parameters to show all morphs on the converted character.  Then, one by one, dial in the morphs to find the offending morph(s).  Once you find them, delete the morphs from your hard drive (click the Gear icon, Parameter Settings, and look at File Path for the asset to figure out where the morph is and what it is called).  You should also resave the character with the offending morph(s) dialed out (set to 0).

    Thanks @Karen too for answering.

"Then, one by one, dial in the morphs to find the offending morph(s)." Please explain this a bit better. The way I'm reading this is that I have to do a conversion with each morph individually zeroed one conversion at a time to figure out which morph is causing the problem?

I get it's a monumental task creating this utility and getting it to work but his seems like a serious pain in the a__ to complete these conversions, I have somewhere around 140 Genesis 8/8.1 characters in my library and I'm thinking that if I have to do this with any character I want to convert...? Go through this process every time I do a conversion?

For the record, I have and use many of your products regularly without issue and with satisfaction. But this? It's a bit much.

No, it is about looking at the *converted* character.  Look at its morphs and dial out the bad ones.

This conversion is easily the worse of all the character converters.  G9 is so different in size and shape that it required doing things that make the conversion hard and you will get issues.

  • Face transfer

    Bonjour.

  • How to transfer everything to Genesis...?

    jgalvand_825f237aee said:

well i try to convert or make a morph from La Femme to Genesis 1-9, well i know vertices between figures are different, but the only way to make a morph it's with face transfer to G8F.

but it seems there's a division between both developers y mean Daz an Renderosity, and no way to exist pluguins to do that.

the split, or division happened years ago with genesis 1. After that users had to choose which app they really wanted to use, poser or Daz Studio

There is some utility that I bought from DAZ a few years ago that goes through your directories and renames the extensions of the morph's you want to "turn off". It really improved load times. But, I forgot the name of the product! I am looking at DAZ again after a hiatus, and am trying to remember what this thing was called and how to invoke it!

    Turbo Loader? https://www.daz3d.com/turbo-loader-for-genesis-8-and-81

Yes! I found it when I went back to look at my order history, and Richard Haseltine had already posted the answer.

I purchased the TG4 with some credits I had. But I'm not sure how it works.

There is nothing in Smart Content after I installed the product.

Am I supposed to look for the morph somewhere under parameters tab to apply the shape to G8?

Is that how this product works?

  • Remixing your art with AI

I know I'm late to this thread and that it's spawned its share of heartburn on the topic of AI, but I wanted to acknowledge the many wonderful examples of its use here as a tool in a workflow, and to share a few of my early tests. For the longest time, I have been plagued by my inability to push my 3D renders over that frustrating, though increasingly permeable, line into reality. I'm hardly the first to do this, but using a locally installed instance of Stable Diffusion as a sort of "post-production filter" in my workflow, I've wound up with a result that's at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing and promising to me. Starting out with DAZ renders of a morph-tweaked iteration of Krashwerks' Anuschka, I'm using an SD model called Paragon (in this instance), one of several that are very good at photorealism. Having found a balance between the Denoising and CFG factors in SD that respect both my text prompts and the input image (the raw 3d render), the net result is a hybrid of the original 3D render and the AI output that allows me to preserve the integrity of hands, feet, clothing, props, and some other features in postwork. Anuschka's face, as seen in the examples, is the AI's interpretation of her using just a breath of SD's Face Restore. Since the same person can look slightly different in the real world depending upon lighting and other factors, I find the facial fidelity across the output images to be satisfactorily believable, overcoming one of my biggest AI frustrations, next to hands and feet. Again, my goal is not to make a viewer commit to a perception that my images are photographs of real people, but only to cause them to believe it long enough for them to ask themselves whether the subjects might be real, and ultimately to allow them to fiind some beauty in the content. If I can do that, then - for now - my efforts are successful.

NOTE: One huge benefit to AI post-processing I've noticed is that the AI tends to identify and correct several notorious shortcomings of 3D rendering, such as telltale 3D facial characteristics, unconvincing interactions between soft bodyparts, as well as unrealistic collisions between soft bodyparts and solid or soft surfaces.

EDIT: I seem unable to upload images at the moment, so I'll come back to this.

There's no easier way than the character converter.

I wish there were something that can convert genesis 2 morph to genesis 8 just using .dsf without even having to open daz studio... But anyway, I think "transfer ulitity" might do the job...

makes me wonder what you are using the morphs for if not wanting to use them in Daz Studio. I hope it is not for game use since mods are prohibited.

I still want to use them in Daz Studio, of course. It is just that I only want to convert the morph. So theoretically there must be a way that I don't have to open Daz (let alone load a G2 and G8 relative morphs...), just converting the dsf morph files for G2 directly to dsf morph files for G8.

In principle, you could do it yourself in a spreadsheet. The morph files are human readable text files with information on where each of the vertices should move when the morph is applied.

All one needs to do, is create a translation table between the vertices of G2 and G8, then create a morph that makes G8 form identical to G2, and map each movement of the G2 vertex in the morph one wants to translate to a nearby vertex on the morphed G8.
