  • Pose Presets ignore values of morphs introduced after they were saved

I don't get the point... so let's confirm first -: You ever saved a 'Pose Preset' and would like to use it to Zere figure's pose but always reserve the values of  '4 custom Pose Control morphs' you made before.... then you further made the 5th Pose Control morph... well let's assume '200 Pose Control morphs', and dialed them all. Now you still wanna zero the figure's pose but reserve the values of  '4 custom Pose Control morphs' ? Is that correct?

If that is correct, you don't need to resave anything at all. First Lock the dials of '4 custom Pose Control morphs', then Zero Figure's Pose. Then you may save a new Pose Preset if needed. Suggest you put all your 'custom Pose Control morphs' into a unique Group under Pose Control. Then it'll be very easy and quick to save any preset...

  • Confuse! My morph acts unexpectedly

This is how my figure looks like on my hijab initially on non Gen 9 base figure.

I exported to Blender to fix stuffs.
    But I didn't touch/sculpt the head area.

    But somehow after morph loading
And set the morph to 100%, there are bumps on her head.
    Why? How to fix this?

  • Pose Presets ignore values of morphs introduced after they were saved

    Hey folks,

Say you create a pose preset that is set to zero everything except 4 custom pose morphs you've scultped and saved as morph assets (say custom muscle flexes).  You then create a 5th pose morph.  Your pose preset doesn't know this 5th pose morph exists, so when you use the pose preset, it doesn't zero that morph out.

Is there a way to address this without resaving the pose morph?

(that statement read: resaving the hundreds of pose morphs I have made that are in this situation)

  • Is there a way to disable the influence of a morph only on certain area of the cloth in daz3d?

    All morphs or specific morphs?

    A specific morphs only.

The only way to selectively block is to create a custom morph for the ones you want to block (which must use the same name, not label, to work).

So... there will be another morphs to specially counter the effect?
Can't the existing morph be somehow edited in daz?
    Sorry I don't get it.

All morphs or specific morphs? A Rigidity Group, created with the Geometry Editor, will block all morph projection. The only way to selectively block is to create a custom morph for the ones you want to block (which must use the same name, not label, to work).

  • Is there a way to disable the influence of a morph only on certain area of the cloth in daz3d?

When I created a cloth morph using marvelous designer, often times there are part of the fabric I want it to stay the same / zero.
But in MD things are moving when simulated or sometimes I just forgot to freeze it.
If there were more that one morphs, things can get ugly with the combination of the two.

So, is there a way to disable the influence of the morph only on certain area of the cloth in daz3d?
So it wont get acummulated and result undesired morphing

  • Is it possible to edit morphs not to scale character? (Gen8)

    Ello'
I am trying to 'hack' some of the morphs I've bought to make them, NOT scale the bones and the character when they morph (Like the Dwarf morph). I'd like to simply morph the vertices and keep the character the same height.
The reason for this is that I use the models in Unity, and seeing as Unity doesnt like to scale the armature/bones of the model to fit with the morph shapes, it can create some akward moments. (Like a hat, floating far above the characters head). Therefore, is there any way to "freeze" the scaling and only keep the morphs? I dont care that the proportions will look odd if the morphs doesnt get to scale the character. I can program my way out of that by simply scaling the entire model.

  • How to make dforce not holding on the initial fabric folds?

There's at least a few things I play with when dForce simming to try and control what happens...

    Simulation  Settings Tab

Gravity - Can be used to "Pull" more, faster, by increasing above 1.0

Frames Per Second (FPS) Multiplier - Default is 2. I often try setting this to 1. Every once in a while, an item can handle this (a lot can't) and it can speed up simulation and create a "looser" drape.

Collision Mesh Resolution - I saw it recommended to set to Viewport, which has felt like it improved simulation for me ever since I changed it. Some help with pokethrough and draping.

Collision Mode - Test the difference between the 3 options (Good, Better, Best) for any sim, especially ones that aren't going how you'd like. Good is "Loose" and "Stretchy" and possibly volitile and prone to pokethrough depending on the garment. Better (default) keeps it's shape a little more, feels like friction is amplified a bit and is more accurate as far as conforming without pokethrough. Best is further in the direction that Better was headed.

    The dForce item

With the dForce Item selected in the Scene Tab, take a look at the Surfaces Tab and make sure it's Selected there as well. Scroll down the parameters on the right and look for the set that's a kind of a brownish color. These are all dForce Parameters.

Particular ones to become familiar with:

Friction - change how much friction the item experiences on collision, or how easily it slides down a surface that it's hitting. Default is 0.4. You can try altering this all the way down to zero if desired, or up higher to grab even more than default.

Self Collide - This tells the mesh whether or not to collide with itself. Usually, most well made garments benefit from this being turned on, to get the intended look... but, turning this OFF has fixed explosions and other problems so many times for me, it's worth checking what happens with it truned off in any instance where things aren't simming how you want. This could alleviate possible hard to spot self-intersection with your hajib that's there before simulation even begins, especially if you're using a morph that moves lots of vertices away from their original location, etc.

Right Click Garment in Surfaces Tab

Choose dForce Surface Adjuster... This little interface gives you easier to understand control over several more complicated Sim Parameters with:

    Stiffer / Silkier

    Shrink / Expand

    Stretch- / +Stretch

You can "Nudge" these sttings one way or the other for a pretty self-explanatory result. I usually try 1 or 2 "nudges" unless I really want to make a drastic change with mayeb 3 to 5.

Anyway, these are the main things I play around with when trying to control my dForce Sims... there's many more things to look at as well, I'm just not quite as familiar and get by with the things am.

    Good luck!

  • [SOLVED] Exploding FBX Objects when importing into Daz

Looks like the best way is to open the product in blender then export it as a collada product...and manually readd the textures, which is fine
I bought a couple of products at turbosquid, and one file option was fbx; however, when I try to import them, they blow up.  The files look fine in Blender, but when I go to import, the model looks like something from the Matrix. 1. What am I doing wrong (this is with all 3 products I bought)
    2. Is there a simple way (that is not simply importing an obj file) to bring these in, where I can hide certain objects, so I can see where I can place others (this is mainly for a gas station)
    3. I'm find re-adding texture, but is there a simpler way to bulk add it?
    4. If a product has movable parts (doors, windows, etc), I assume I would have to add the morph in DAZ?
Or should I simply start using Blender?

  • How to make dforce not holding on the initial fabric folds?

    James said:

    I have a problem.

    I make a hijab.
The front part is up to covering the breast

Then I make a morph to anticipate bigger breasts by making the front hovering in the air a bit,  as the initial position for dforce.

In doing so the fabric has more folds initially.

When I simulated, the result is, the fabric has a bit of unnatural folds/creases when draping. As if dforce trying to hold on to the initial folds.

What is the solution for this?

While sometimes it can work, dforce isn't meant for making morphs. Make the morph in the hijab by sending it and the figure with larger breasts dialed in, over in the modeller. Then dial out the morphs in D/S and select the clothing. Then either via the bridge or via import, bring the morphed hijab back into D/S via Morph Loader Pro [advanced bridge setting in D/S if using Hexagon bridge]. Reverse shape, yes. If the morph looks to be good, then zero it and save it. Then load a fresh clothing piece, restore the figure to high res [goes to base when using Hexagon], and try the simulation again.

It's also possible to adjust the simulation settings, i.e. for thicker, heavier cloth, or lighter fly away cloth. And of course one can put a weight map on it and freeze the portions that are not to be affected, or only affected a little bit, when simulated.

E questo è strano, i morph, la mesh, erano tutti in un unico file. Ora, ho mosso i morph e modificato alcuni bones, bloccando le transitions e altro. Ho salvato il character con un altro nome, e la cartella sotto DATA è stata creata.

Yes... check if you used Turbo Loader...still, check if there's any full head morph or partial head morph dialed in Eyelashes hidden properties. On a pure G8M Base figure, the eyelashes won't be 'detached' if there's nothing weird 'dialed' in its properties...

I did some testing and eventually I managed to have it back as it should.
But I had pretty much to wipe G8M entirely and manually re-install my characters, one by one and see if all worked out fine.
So far so good I say.

    NorthOf45 said:

I wrote a ticket on this a few months ago. Long story short, The Ren morph for the eyelashes is a function of the Head morph. No problem with that, but if you use Turbo Loader, the head morph is disabled, making it invisible to the function, which defaults the eyelash morph to 1.0 all the time. Other more recent eyelash morphs from the same vendor are coded in a way that avoids this problem.

    Interesting.

I'm not using Turbo Loader but with all this morph and what not, it is bound to have some issues from time to time I guess?

  • Which generation(s) of poses work with standalone figures?

    tubbesing said:

Is there an easy way to tell which generation(s) of poses work with standalone figures?

F’rinstance, Lil Alien Guy is a standalone figure. Will he/it work well with Genesis 3 poses, or G8, or G9? Put another way, Ultimate Pose Master by V3Digitimes works with Genesis 3, 8, and 8.1. Will it work with a character like Lil Alien Guy? Is it just a matter of tweaking constraints, or are there more fundamental conflicts?

    Thanks.

Another possibility to consider is importing/exporting BVH files (basically a look-up table of bone names and rotations). DS allows for the creation of maps that can be saved/loaded. These maps translate certain bone names from one figure to the other.

So, for example, you could export a BVH file with a posed g9 selected and accept the default mapping. Then, select your custom figure and import the BVH file. When the dialogs pops up, make sure you click Show Details. Adjust the settings to map the transfer between the two. Save it for future use.

    HTH.

  • Tool to manage character morphs?

Hi all - I remember seeing at one point a utility that could reduce the number of character morphs on G8F without uninstalling them. I think it automated the renaming or moving of the morph files so you could keep them on your hard drive but DAZ Studio wouldn't see them?

Does anyone know the name? I've been unable to track it down. G8F takes forever and a day to load since I have so many characters installed, and I think it's affecting Studio's overall perfromance too. TIA!
