The Carrara fiels are for soem of the Victoria 4 Elite sets, which had separate isntallers for Poser, DS, and Carrara - you can hide the Carrara ones in Ready to Download by specific right-click or by unchecking Carrara in the Download Filters dialogue (this doesn't affect ready to Install, however).

The lack of tags should be reported to Technical Support, but it won't be affecting the rest of DIM.

Where are you keeping your Manifests?

This is a custom character based off of the Victoria 7 base model. I doubt you're going to get very close to it using a G8 base to build from. I could be wrong, but I do believe they have different bone structures, and certainly different UV maps, which is why you won't find characters like this being offered across dramatically different bases. Plus I highly doubt they would appreciate having their hard work copied and resold on a different base. Your best bet is to put in an open request to the vendor(s) of that character and ask if they can make a similar one available for Victoria 8. You might be SOL though, because it doesn't look like maelwenn has produced anything here recently for any of the newer Genesis 8 bases(Victoria, Olympia, etc.). Maybe try checking Renderosity website since some of these vendors produce content for sale at multiple sites. It won't be the exact same, but you might find something that looks similar.

They don't have to copy it, just make something as high quality.

That lydia character is higher quality than 95% of Genesis 8 female models and it's Genesis 3, lol.

Wendy is pretty much to blame for this last-minute render.  I had intended to enter only one image per Challenge for a while, as I'm working on another project.  But Wendy has reminded us several times over the years that Victoria (V1) is still sold by Daz in the Mimic Lite package.  Curiosity finally got the best of me, as I had to see what was really there.

It's the real deal!  The skin is awful (painted on underwear), but that is easily remedied by looking up free V1 skin resources.  I expected there to be no morphs in the V1 package, and was pleasently surprised to find a small number of very useful head and body morphs.

You can use any assets in the store for personal or commercial renders and art work.  You just cant share the actually 3d object.  In other words, you could not gift someone Victoria 8 herself but you can give a render or piece of artwork that you made using her.

 

Also this Iray thing I take it that it is part of 4.10 and comes with it? Just wondering cause I see it on alot of the store stuff and I am scratching my head.

Iray support was included with Daz Studio starting in 4.8, so any newer version will have Iray support. If you're asking what Iray is, that's a whole other story.

If you're choosing a figure to go with, V4 would definitely be cheaper, but V4 and her content were made for a much older version of Daz Studio/Poser. So the models will have lower resolution geometry and textures. There's still some new content being made for V4, but the character and clothes don't have High Definition morphs and other enhancements that V8 has.

Thanks Johnny Ray what is the difference between converter, sy clothing fit helper and sy ultrta templates? i am seriously just trying to get what I need and things that will make my life alittle bit easier when it comes to all this so far I have on my list Victoria 8 pro bundle, body morphs, head morphs,hair,some back drops,lighting..am I on the right track? budget ya know lol

Ok thank you all very much for your answers:) I really don;t think I have been anywhere that people actually answer without a catch. I will surely look into it today and see what I can do. Also one other question if I decided to go with victoria 8 can I get cloths that I see for genesis 2 or 3? being I have read 8 is backwards compatible? or it really is not that backwards compatible? Just wondering with the whole cloths thing so I dont waste $$. I at least figured out the hair thing lol.

First things first: During the recent PC+ sale, I made two attempts to buy The Kids 4. Both purchases were cancelled and refunded by PayPal, because there was apparently "a risk" attached to the transaction, they claimed. Turns out, I wasn't the only one who had experienced that exact problem with The Kids. So yeah. A forum moderator suggested we should contact Customer Support, and I sent them a ticket. Then I mostly forgot about the whole thing.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I dig around in DS looking for Victoria 4. In the "Daz People" screen, The Kids 4 are looking back at me, smiling all innocently.  I even managed to load them into the viewport, they're definitely there! But how? And when? And BTW, I haven't paid for them, because the purchase was refunded. I checked my content library on my account page, and they're not listed there, but they're most definitely in my Studio. So I suppose I ought to say "thank you," to whomever put them there, but it's all very ~~mysterious.~~

If you're looking to get it into DAZ Studio then the Michael 3 version might be a bit of a pain. There is a set for Victoria 4 here.

The V4 version will transfer to Genesis characters much easier.

I'd be super happy if they'd stop calling any character Victoria any more. Vicky isn't really Vicky any more. I messed around with Poser in the Vicky 3 days and you really had to have Vicky and Mike to do anything. Now the base G characters are fine for many/most/all uses and the skins/textures/call them what you want built on them are just fine. But Daz keeps pumping out a new Vicky and Mike with every new generation and less and less support comes out for them but if somebody comes along after a hiatus or migrates from Poser they might spend a lot of money on them before finding out they don't need to.

This is I am talking about when I say Daz can be madly confusing for newer users when they release new generations every couple of years. They need some kind of product hierarchy guide that is easily accessible, like you cannot possibly miss it accessible.

Victoria 4 models are actually 4 generations old. Its a little wacky, but Victoria 4 is considered to be generation 4. When Generation 5 came along, somebody got the brilliant idea to call their new creation "Genesis". So Genesis 1 and Victoria 5 are the same generation. Then Genesis 2 follows with Victoria 6, followed by Genesis 3 and Victoria 7. However for the latest generation 8, they brought the names in line with each other, so now you have Genesis 8 and Victoria 8. So there is no Genesis 4-7. Each different generation makes enough changes as to not be able to use each other's morphs out of the box. There are ways around this, as GenX2 can transfer shapes from V4 through Genesis 3 with the proper addons. There is no addon for Genesis 8, but Genesis 3 shapes can be manually transfered to Genesis 8.

 Since V8 technically requires you have Genesis 8 installed, its kind of confusing to me. Will V4 morphs work at all with V8?

I have been reading these posts to help myself as I am newish to Daz3d. Just wanted to say thanks beforehand for any help previously used and issues which may come in the future.

Win 10, Daz3d 4.10

All my Version 8 characters have this issue where the "Hip Bend Forward" makes this protrusion coming out of the lower back/upper glutes. It only shows up when the slider value is passed 50%. It only happens on my version 8 characters and it doesn't happen on any version below it (G3F, G3M...).

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling G8F characters from Install manager, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Another weird thing is after installing from DIM, I also have to find Victoria 8 in Smart Content > Figures > right click and install it. Not sure if this is supposed to happen, but that is how I've been doing it.

Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

Since this issue was hindering me too much, I ended up reinstalling all my assets prior to when the issue started (luckily I made a backup).

I have DAZ 4.10 and when i was playing with my V4 character, which i had built for a while and suddenly her eyes were missing the "white parts" ie. the eye balls. The iris is intact, but you can see inside her head from the corner of the eye cuz it's missing the eyeball itself. It also translates into renders. What to do, so i wouldn't have to build her from the ground up again?

The model in the main promo pic for Claudia Hair is definitely Charlene, but the texture looks different from the promo pics I was refering to in my post. Not sure about the texture but the eyebrows are different. Do you recognize that one as one of your own? Huge fan of your work by the way!
