...there is one way to get realistic faces of real people, however it is a bit pricey.

    https://www.daz3d.com/face-transfer-unlimited

With a "perfect storm" of discounts I was able to get it for under10 USD - Mad Artists category (60%  discount), Gold star (30% discount), and there was 30% discount coupon for it being on my wishlist.  It is possible this combo of discounts (or maybe a dfferent/better one) will happen again at or near this sale's end.

  • Render your buys! Use buys from the current month and the previous month of sales

I mentioned Tiana in the new releases appreciation thread as she caught my eye, but I also mused at the slightly mismatched description of the character that suggested "youthful" and "playful" while those sunken eyes made her anything but. I got her anyway, and I joyfully made her into an old lady: all it took was Minerva's skin, a bit of a nudge of an aging morph for the face, and a little bit more to adjust the body to be elderly as well.

She's perfect and expressions seem to work quite well on her too. And since I was playing around already, I made a quick render. The other not-exactly-new-anymore item (bought later November last year) is the Southern Gothic Dress which simulated nicely, but got some weird triangles in front. Not sure if it's from the simulation or lighting, and since it was a quickie, I didn't investigate.

  • Materials Do not apply on outfits and clothing in general . Please Help!

Had a somewhat similar problem. Google led me here. This is what I've just discovered.

If a material is marked as a 'morph preset', the changes are instant. However, some materials are marked as 'simulation presets'. Applying them seemingly changes nothing. You need to go to the simulation settings and actually do the simulation. Voila, the clothing started to change as expected.

    Hope this helps somebody.

  • dForce Archmage

Yeah, I can reproduce this error.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to create a morph without detaching all geografts, and once you attach them back, DAZ resets the geoshell parameters.

Now that I think about it, I ran into the same issue when I first started using DAZ, after using the Mesh Grabber tool. It was pretty annoying. The workaround I ended up using was just setting Opacity to 0 instead of turning surfaces on/off.

DAZ has a ton of different features and tools - you just have to learn to pick the ones that aren’t too buggy smiley

  • WHEN... will DAZ3D learn...

TLDR: Softwares fine, the content is the issue.

Lets be honest, while this system isn't brilliant it's better than what we had, around here somewhere I still have a couple of characters for Posette, that are nothing more than a stripped out OBJ and a couple of textures.

I've known for a long time that there are three things that will cause DS to get "bogged down" when it's loading a figure, those are the number of DSF files it's having to load, the number of formula in each file, and the number of errors being reported. The errors are the real "kick in the nuts" as they can turn a 5 minute load time into a 30 minute load time, one user I helped had a 65 minute load time for G8F, I checked his log and told him to uninstall one product, he wasn't happy about removing it but he did and his load time dropped to just over 21 minutes, that one product was causing so many errors it was crippling his system, I showed him how to edit his files to fix the remaining errors and by the end his load time was down to just under 10 minutes.

If I'd had direct access to his system I could have gotten it down even further, but that would have required me to rebuild damn near every morph/character pack he had.

I make my own characters, but I build them as one file rather than a separate head and body with a controller, in my characters for G8F there are 1020 formula in each DSF file, in many characters made by others you will find two formula in the controller, roughly 500+ in the head morph and roughly 900+ in the body morph (I've checked that's how I know), that's a lot of extra formula that shouldn't be there, on top of that you are moving multiple bones twice, that's not good for the rigging.

"You need to use the Adjust Rigging to Shape comand, then most likely use Joint Editor to tweak the results"

That is a quote from Richard from a week or two back, just how many content creators actually "tweak" the rigging ?

With G8/8.1/9 the eyelids are controlled by bones rather than morphs, adjust rigging to shape normally results in wonky eyelids when you close them, tweaking the bones will fix the bone placements, and baking the changes into the head morph means no extra files/formula to worry about, but if you check your content you will find corrective morphs everywhere for closing the eyelids.

Rob and the rest of the devs are busting their asses trying find ways to speed up loading, and there's only so much they can do with that especially as it's the content that's the main issue, get rid of the extra files and formula and load times will speed up a lot.

  • [Released] Bone Minion Batch Converter for Genesis 2 Poses [Commercial]

I purchased some of your products and was finally able to test them yesterday. The Bone Minions work perfectly. I am having some issues with the Batch Converter. It simply does not convert batches. I can only convert a single pose at a time, which already saves a lot of work, but converting an entire pose folder would of course be much better. It also does not create icons, which is not a big problem since I can use the original images if I rename them accordingly.

I am not at my PC right now, so I do not know my DAZ version, I know it is not the newest, 4.5 I guess. Is there anything I need to enable first in order to convert a complete directory? I should mention that I convert the poses to V4 and then use a script for Poser to transfer these poses into Poser so I can apply them there to V4.

I only need a bit of help with converting a complete directory. Even if all poses in the directory are selected, it always converts only the first one or the one my mouse is hovering over.

    edit: it is DAZ 4.23.0.1

hm... now I started again, I read about the Metadata, I disabled it and now it is working. Maybe this was the reason?

  • Hair that moves G9

Just single frame. All default settings (except start from memorized is OFF)

I tried adding a wind node. That moved the hair. But I don't like that the hair will whip around with a wind node.

I switched to https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-black-tie-hair-for-genesis-9 in case the issue was Holo.

Without the wind node, it didn't move at all.

With the wind node, I have whipping hair (the upper blue circle) but more importantly, the hairs in back seem to be clinging to her head.

EDIT: 2mph solved my whipping around issue. (and I used the built in morph to move the bangs off the forehead.)

Well after checking all my today's purchases except the last, https://www.daz3d.com/anthony-for-genesis-9 I hit a Duplicate Formula Error. Scanning the Help Log I found a buttload of other PAs' morphs listed. Is that normal for a DO morph to use PA's morphs? Right now my reaction is to uninstall Anthony and leave him out of my runtime. If you are considering him, just be prepared.

That is not good. I thought, that this problem is mostly related to other PAs, but not Daz Originals.

    Thanks for warning.

I didn't buy Sigrid but accidentally clicked on the Saga bonus figure Sigrid comes with. Now, everytime I load any figure they have Sigrids gigantic breasts and six pack abs. You should see my Baby Yoda. I can't figure out how to find the original G9F to remove the morphs. I have deleted the Saga files but it didn't help.

If the morph isn't there it can't be aplying - what do you mean by deleted? Saga is isntalled through Connect, did you use the Uninstal option in DS (rght-click on the product)? If you just used Browse to File location on the preset and deleted it that won't help as it isn't the preset that is the issue (and deleting it that way will also leave a ghost reference in your database, which means the preset will still appear but with missing file/thumbnail markers).

When you first load a new Genesis 9 figure please go to currently used and see what morphs are listed. You said that new figures are still malformed and that shouldn't be the case. There is a morph that is loading when it shouldn't be.

Curently Used shows non-default values, the problem is that this is loading with a non-zero default.

I like the Shooting Star morphs, and I don't have a problem with them being G9s. One of the things I like about them is they haven't all been sculpted body builders, although there have been a few of them. I think DAZ has put up a nice variety over the course of the sale.

Well at least two of them use the Nikolai 9 morph, and probably Cliff forThimor 9 (Nikolai+Thimor) ,which isn’t a sculpted bodybuilder type. So I don’t think pumping up variety was the main reason the sub product characters aren’t muscular.

If you already picked up Nikolai for $3.49 or $6.99 during any sale (right now in Outlet), then you basically already have these G9s you’re fine with, just with a dedicated set of textures tailored to the morph. Those include Normal maps that enhance the realism of belly folds, plus very unique Difusse maps with details like moles, body hair, discolorations, and similar touches. Those are the kinds of products we should be supporting.

It's not a matter of choosing a complete character package over purchasing a morph, we can support both, and I do. In this case the morphs provide faces that are better than ones I could make, and I can use the body shapes with those textures you mentioned. The same applies to the other promotional morphs.  Yes, $2.99 is probably the outer limit of what I'm willing to pay for them, especially with Outlet and Quick Grab pricing on complete characters.  DAZ isn't doing anything sly with these, they ID the textures they use in the promos as being the standard ones available in our G9 Materials. Obviously we're not limited to using those.

Is it fair to say all the shooting stars items have been g9 characters?

Sadly, yes. And I'm exclusively G9. Just don't need any more for the most part.

And as pointed out above, they're shapes intended to go with the stock skin textures, so not worth the money. Thanks!

And doubly so since, like all too many of DAZ's recent fixed price offer promotions, these items are actually turning out to be cheaper to purchase the next day after the discounts that are excluded when the prices are locked are applied. My guess is that the long term future of these things will be that they'll soon start showing up as ubiquitous cheap filler in future similar promotions, the "get free with purchase of X" promotions, and Quick Grab.  I don't mind buying morph only products if they're interesting enough and properly advertised as such. like many of Luna3d/Starlight13's meshgames products. but when we're still getting brand new full characters with 8k textures as PC items that end up costing less... I ended up paying a whopping $1.36 after discounts for https://www.daz3d.com/cj-iris-8k-hd-for-genesis-9 on 02/25/26... these just feel chintzy.

I'm assuming she's a G9, and I'm not as familiar with them. And I know she might be a custom morph, but it's worth asking, right?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, at least the one I checked ( https://www.daz3d.com/garrett-for-genesis-9 ) - there was a great slew of joint adjustments and then a clump of custom corrective morphs in Parameter settings for the Body shape.

Not sure about bend correctives, but agreeing on the steep, regardless. The morphs themselves seem kind of... off, and hastily done. With a new one every day, I suppose it's quantity over quality, but there are full G9 characters in QG for less than that.

Heck, in the last 2 years similar $2.99 (or less!) deals have given us not just full characters with their own skins but other options and sometimes multiple high quality characters. I've picked up:

    https://www.daz3d.com/marius-hd-8k-for-genesis-9 ($0, 12/25), https://www.daz3d.com/cc-catalina-for-genesis-9 ($2.99, 10/25), https://www.daz3d.com/samadeh-vevenor-hd-for-genesis-9 ($2.49, 11/25), https://www.daz3d.com/samidah-vevenor-hd-for-genesis-9 ($1.49, 11/25), https://www.daz3d.com/cc-talan-for-genesis-9 ($1, 11/24), https://www.daz3d.com/nautilisian-for-genesis-9 ($1, 11/24), https://www.daz3d.com/icewick-the-snowman-for-genesis-9 ($1, 12/25). IIRC, at least 1 part of Luthbel's Wise Wizard Remastered bundle was also in a $2-3 deal this past December. I can't say for sure because I later bought the bundle with a big owned item discount.

I am also a fan of QG & Outlet for characters & bundles. Granted, you can sometimes get under $1.99 prices with other deals, and I've done so. But those can be hard to find in 1,000+ item selections (just like Outlet!). These deals are also affected by token, floor prices, and even (from what I've read in the Reporting thread) the order you cart products.

It's just tough to beat QG. It probably has the best deals that can be found anywhere in DAZ world.

If you're talking about flat pricing without any discounts applied.  Otherwise, with the combination of coupons, conditional discounts, tokens and a Premier membership, I've bought quite a few products for QG prices or lower over the last two weeks... examples: one cart had five of Colm Jackson's Genesis 9 characters for between $1.73 and 1.81, and I've bought quite a few Genesis 8 characters for under a buck.  But yeah, I bought a few of the $2.99 morph only characters until I figured out what they were... and then I realized that they're showing up in the store the next day for $8.64, so they would actually ring out at $2.66 with my average stacking discount...
