[Solved] M4 Critical Error while trying to load him
its to do with the order of your Poser runtimes
he needs to be in the first one added to DAZ studio if you have several
and you cannot have a duplicate of him or V4 in another one
Thank you Wendy. I will work on removing all of them then reinstall starting with Michael. Do I need to do that with just the basic Michael files, or do I need to then install Freak & Hiro before installing Victoria and her morphs?
I use both DAZ & Poser so my Gen 4 chars are all installed in a Poser runtime which is then pointed to within DAZ. I will make sure that I do not accidentally have him installed into both Studio & Poser libraries.
[Solved] M4 Critical Error while trying to load himSounds like M4 wasn't initialized. Try running /Runtime/Libraries/!DAZ/DzCreateExPFiles-M4.bat.
Thank you for taking the time to help. I located that file and ran it but M4, Freak 4 and Hiro 4 still pop up the same critical error and refuse to load. I manually loaded these from a zip file, not via the DIM as I got confused trying to set the DIM/library & runtime file paths up. I just tried to load Kids 4 and am getting the same error, so only Victoria & her morphs are loading correctly atm.
[Solved] M4 Critical Error while trying to load himHi All,
I am attempting to add Michael 4 to my scene and I am receiving a critical error that says his support folder cannot be found. Victoria works for me so I dug into her files to see how the path went and the Michael 4 Base file that I downloaded is the exact same. I went into the support folder and was able to locate his files as well. I do not know what is wrong or how to fix it; is anyone able to assist or shed some light on my problem? I have been away for 5+yrs so I am still in the process of relearning everything, so please bear with me and any confusion that might crop up. =)
Thank you!
~Bree
Edit: I probably should have mentioned that I am attempting this inside of DAZ 4.10 Pro, in case the program matters.
Genesis Morphs to G8 - is this possible?I realise I may be being a bit hopeful here, but perhaps someone could offer a suggestion.
I have not been doing much 3d stuff for the past few years, and just got back into it again - with a vengeance, my poor aching wallet.
Back when Genesis first came out, I bought a LOT of stuff. I have tons of great morphs for it. Especially lots of cool creature-making morphs such as Anubis, demon bits and animals.
Is there anyway I can use these with later figures, ideally G8? Whether using some sort of process, or buying some sort of product.
I bought the SY Victoria 4 and Michael 4 Clones for Genesis 8 and am thrilled to be able to use my lovely old Vicky clothes. And the autofit for Genesis stuff works very well in general - if only it were easier to find them in Smart Content, of course.
Now if only I could reuse all those lovely morphs....
Issue with eyes from Generation X2 converted figures..Another issue I've found is that if I have used GenX to transfer the SAME morphs more than once, such as, transferring Victoria 4 twice, then the Victoria 4 slider has to be set at 50%.
[Released] Sci-Fi Atmosphere Processing Deck [Commercial]Looks awesome, but have to ask, how resource heavy is it? Is it developed with actually adding figures/clothing/hair into it and rendering on a reasonable spec PC?
It's pretty efficient. It uses fifteen 4K textures and six 2K textures. To put that into perspective, the entire scene uses less texture space than a single unclothed figure. If I recall correctly, Victoria 8 uses at least sixteen 4K textures and six 2K textures.
My workstation has two GTX 980 Ti cards (6GB each). Even with multiple clothed figures in the scene I had no problems with running out of VRAM during testing.
Resource efficiency was the top priority when designing this product. A tremendous amount of time went into figuring out the best way to do that. Many different approaches were tried. In fact, I created two other very detailed sci-fi environments prior to this one that I didn't feel comfortable bringing to market because of the amount of texture space they required.
The curved hallway sections are kind of polygon-heavy, they have to be in order to be curved. That isn't an issue for rendering, as the vertices take up very little memory, but it can make scene navigation a little sluggish sometimes. If that becomes a problem, it's easy to solve by hiding some unused sections while working with the scene - you can't see the entire scene at once anyway.
Genesis 9 delayed until at least 2020. Will you be buying it?I usually skip a generation unless I have a pacific need for it. I skipped genesis for Genesis 2, I skipped genesis 3 for genesis 8 And so on. then later on in the future as sales and money permit i may go back and buy the older generations at a much greater 70% plus discount for the pro bundles . instead of the 30% for the new release. But I still use victoria 4 so that is just my way of doing things.
February 2019 - DAZ3D New User Challenge - LightingThe character is Victoria 7 and I did use some depth of field as well.
Issue with eyes from Generation X2 converted figures..I am having an issue with eyes on figures I have converted from Victoria 4, Genesis and Genesis 2 figures to Genesis 3.. I have all the required plugins and what not so no problem there, but anyway the issue at hand is the when I load the saved figure into studio and use the eyes side to side or just rotate one eye, the pivot point of the eye has moved forward instead of being in the centre of the eye..
And as such when when rotated the one eye will rotate out of the eye socket while the other eye will sink back into the socket and well look weird.. I am not sure why this is happening but it is a nuisance and not really sure how to fix it. I have supplied to images the figure is set to base resolution to show what happens the strange thing is that some conversions are worse than others.. Any help please would be greatly appreciated thank you.. :)
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 11Tasi For Genesis 3 Female Legacie Hair (Gen2/ Gen3/ V4) Fenix Outfit (Gen3F)
I picked Tasi up for $7.18 a few days ago (Feb 23) and could have gotten her for that also in November, sadly missed the $5.39 on July 1st, so she does "dip" in the chart every 3-4 months. So you have July $5.39, then a four month wait, then a three month wait, the latter two for a $7 price.
Edit- it's Fenix Outfit.
Look at this gallery image for the Legacie Hair. I actually found the hair for use on Tasi because I did the Daemon Outfit on a previous character (coming next.)
So just to show postwork options, click back and forth between the first two faces and see if you like the lighter (first one) or darker version better. They will (as usual) open in new windows, then just X to close. I personally like the darker, due to the eyes. They're more piercing.
Click to enlarge, this is 600 px tall and the original is 1200px.
February 2019 - DAZ3D New User Challenge - LightingThanks for all your help. I rendered victoria again and tried to put a little more light on her. I also took out the background so the shadows weren't so distracting.
Visage texture has disappearedHello, I have created some characters with Victoria 8 base. I made changes using Genesis 8 Female body morphs, and alikes, then I finished by using Skin Builder 8.
I used half a dozen of these characters in different scenes (I open the scenes, then merge the characters in), and after about a hundred renders, one of the characters lost the texture from its face (see image below). It happens in every file : in the scenes, and also in the original file where it was created. What is strange is that it only happened on this one, and not the others (all of them were made using the same method).
I think it happened after using ctrl-z to undo a posing action.
I have no clue on how to restore it, and even to prevent this from happening again.
Has any of you encountered the same problem and/or have an idea to help me resolve it?
Thank you very much for your attention and your help!!!
Customized Character Tutorials"I would guess V4?"
Oooh, swing and a miss, Saph. I must confess that, if the tables were turned, that might be my first guess, as well. But no, not Victoria 4. It is actually Aiko 3, believe it or not.
Shouldn't a beach fairy have water wings?

Dial spinning can become addictive, can it not?
Yes it has become an obcession I think!!!
She is way too young to have her waer wings yet remember they need to earn their wings!!
I would not have belived that if you not told me that it was Aiko 3!!
Male character face morphs for G8F, and women face morphs for G8MWould be great but I'm not sure if it is technically possible. Are the meshes and rigging compatible?
I'm not talking about a full bodymorph, but only face morphs of Michael, Landon, Christian, etc for G8F.
I mean, the point it's that Teen Josie, o Victoria 8, could look as true family of G8M
I'm not disputing the usefulness. I just don't know if it is technically possible. Maybe there is someone (a DAZ3 dev. ?) who could shed some light on the issue. By the way, the G8 face mesh has some quite complicated rigging. Maybe the G8f face rigging is close enough to G8m, maybe not. It would be great if it were, but I suspect not.

Unreal Engine rolls out Real Time Ray TracingAnd part of my argument here is that if Unreal starts to offer something as user friendly as Daz that renders darn near instantly with easily accessible content, would you not expect a portion of people to go there? Perhaps they would still use Daz to an extent, but as their Unreal library grows they'll see less and less use of the old items.
This assumes that Unity or Unreal developers want to attract still image renderers rather than animators.
And that they'd devote some budget and ressource to do that just to get a niche market, and that they'd be okay to simplify their program for point'n click guy. I don't really see the logic, when the gaming market is more lucrative.
And getting the market need more than just the software. You need content that they do not create and must be made to target this specific audience and not just that (and someone has to explain me why, if some concurrent content is already out there, are there some post of people willing to transfer DAZ content to these other plateforms). Also assuming that some random content even with RTX tech would move Poser or DS users from their comfort is just too pulled by the hair. That's also forgetting the emotional value. I'm sure Victoria/Michael/Genesis are a long love history for lots of people and that they wouldn't go away. I'm sure they'll just complain on the forum or eventually fill a request. Should I also point out that there is a big difference between a random fix figure that has only one shape/textures and a figure that can shapeshift to thousands of (more or less) different ones?
That some interrested people are planning to /already using unity/unreal/whatever, sure. Shifting a market...you'd need a way bigger lever than just RTX for that (reminder : did all Poser users moved to DS when they felt like DAZ abandonned them ?).
.dae export: incorrect eyesHello guys, Daz Newbie here!
When I tried to export an animated .dae, the eyes and eyebronws are out of place (image bellow).
Model: Marigold/Genesis/Victoria 8 (image 1 attached)
Export settings (image 2,3 attached)
How can I fix this?
