Anime Toons and Filatoon Shader Q&A

What about shadows in Filament? Don't manga have shadows?
I have a shadow tool from SY, but it only has primitives and a human figure in a standing pose. So it does not work in every case.
Have a look at the feet.Does anyone know anything about this?
You can have shadows in Filament now. The lights have to be set to cast shadows and surfaces set to receive them.

By the way Glass for Filament https://www.daz3d.com/glass-for-filament
works also in Filatoon and it looks similar to the glass in iray.
One do not get toonish look with it, but probably it is easier to customize it further.
Filatoon is a new shader, it isn't a new version of Filament, so anything that works in Filament can be used alongside FilaToon (how good the combo looks will of course vary).
Thank you, Richard, for the confirmation of what I have suspected.
Need to explore more Filament items in my library and check how they look like together with FilaToon.

Da 4.21 a 4.23, no.
Da 4.15 a 4.23, sì.

That's good to know... the iray glass shader works too, they use it in the filatoon products where glass is present like buildings and the recent sunglasses collection, they have tweaked (at least) one of the parameters though because when i use a iray glass shader directly things like eyebrows and eyelashes turn invisible when viewed through the glass but when i copy and paste the settings from the above mentioned products they remain visible, i need to go through and see which settings causes them to vanish.
it's all very interesting though and i might just get that filament glass shader anyway.

Anime Toons and Filatoon Shader Q&AFilaToon is a specific toon shader to use with the Filament engine, just like you have for example toon shaders for Iray.
Anime Toons and Filatoon Shader Q&Ais fila-toon the same as the normal filament or are there differences?
Can i use the Sickleyield - Fila - Tools even for the toon?
toon for genesis 9Sure thing ~
1) Load the toon figure into the scene, then switch DrawStyle to Filament (ss1)
2) Load Environment as well... for more settings as needed (ss2)

I'm so excited about Filatoon! I'm planning on using it for my comic work. Here's the result of an experiment I'm doing with the Filatoon settings and the Filament Draw Options. This is a Filament render with zero post-work:
Is anyone else exploring Filatoon? One of my favorite parts is that it renders just about instantly - in about 1 second, even on my older machine! And what you see in the viewport is what you get! So cool!
This looks very nice, and very promising. What, exactly, is Filatoon? Is it a render setting built into Daz Studio or is it a separate product? I saw a bunch of Toon products recently listed, but non of them list a prerequisite for another product. Also, does it allow for pure b&w output?
It utilizes the Filament render engine in Daz Studio. It's pretty awesome. Here are a couple of threads in the Commons about it: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/704951/anime-toons-and-filatoon-shader-q-a#latest https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/704931/filatoon-cell-shaded-rendering-with-filament#latest
And it does do black and white, just drop in a Tonemapper Options Node (Top menu: Create >> New Tonemapper Options Node). Select the Tonemapper Node in the scene tab then go to Parameters >> Tone Mapping >> Saturation (set it to zero).

I'm not at my PC right now, and I can't remember the names off the top of my head, but have to turn on "display preview hairs" and turn up the viewport subdivision/tessellation/whatever it's called. Save your file before doing it though, I've had Daz crash on me before when doing it for too many hairs at once.Hylas said:TheNathanParable said:
You can use the glass shader in the same scene as FilaToon, but it won't have a toon outline. My Big Boi Bathing render uses the glass shader on the water droplets: https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/user/6736226870624256#gallery=newest&page=1&image=1353125
Wait, how did you do the body hair? I thought strand-based hair didn't work in Filament?

toon for genesis 9Neither of them... you want to render it with Filament drawstyle.

I'm sorry if this was already asked but can all the KindredArts shaders and lights for Filament work in FilaToon? What about the glass shader? If not, is there a glass shader for FilaToon?
I think Kindredarts shaders are Iray based so no they won't work in Filament.
I meant the ones specifically for Filament like the glass, and fire and lights products. I'm guessing now they do work, just without an outline.
Interestingly the glass windows in the https://www.daz3d.com/xi-anime-convenience-store is using a standard iRay glass shader. There is a texture in the Base Color setting to simulate a cartoon window, and a texture in the cutout opacity setting as well.

Here is an image from a comic I am working on, using Streets of Japan 2, Mikey 9 and Vicky 9 with various clothing and hair products used, on the Bellina moped. Found it quite cool how emissives work with the added bloom settiing. I am liking Filatoon a lot it does what I have always wanted, two of the biggest boons is instant renders and not having to worry about postworking.
