Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 11
I prefer the pwToon & other pw shaders to Sketchy & other iRay attempts at the more 'artsy' styles.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 11Thank you @Novica

@Worlds_Edge and @L'Adair I love what you are doing with Sketchy. I really want to get this now. Just hanging on for a sale. L'Adair I really appreciate the hits and tips. I would never have thought to remove image maps. I tried three different hair sets on mine before I found one that would work with pwToon.
Thank you, and you're welcome.

With the hair, I didn't remove the main texture maps for the scene. In the comparison images I did for Novica, I removed the texture so it wouldn't distract from the mesh. I know what you mean, though, about finding a hair that will work with the shaders! The hair you used in your render turned out really nice.
I have pwToon and ToonyCam Pro, also. At this point, though, I've already spent more time with the Sketchy shaders! I used ToonyCam Pro on an image I used within an image last April, (here,) but that's about it. I really should spend more time with all three. Toons haven't been a priority, but they sure are fun to make, aren't they?

Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 11Awesome work @mollytabby! Very cute render. Can you explain how you used the shaders to make manga type eyes?
Thank you @Worlds_Edge, I was having a similar problem to you and couldn't get the eyes right. As noted by @Serenenight, the Manga Markers Shaders set comes with presets for the eyes. I used these and fiddled with the settings in pwToon until I got something I could work with. What I ended up with isn't perfect but will do until I can work out what is going wrong when I use the pwToon shaders alone.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 11I apologise from the start. I totally misread your instructions @Novica and merrily set out to create a new image for you latest challenge instead of using a scene I already had. I also don't have Sketchy, so I used pwToon and Manga Marker Shaders to help me give toon style eyes to Dolly. I also have the free shader set from the Freebies thread with goes with pwToon. I noticed when I finished that the hair isn't quite right too.
Note to self: re-read the instructions several times before starting anything.

Wow! That's simply gorgeous shading!

Mollytabby's Art WorkshopOver on her thread @Novica has challenged us to convert something we'd already done to a toon. I totally misread this and created a toon and because I don't have Sketch Toon Edge and Art Style Shaders I used pwToon instead. Ah well, I should have re-read the challenge before I started, lol. I also used Manga Marker Shaders to change the eyes, brows and lashes before I did the pwToon shader work. The model is Dolly for Genesis 8 female.
It took me quite a few hours and I haven't really mastered the eyes with the pwToon shaders, but I'm happy with the way it turned out given this was a bit of relaxing fun.
How do I use line renderer to make coloring book pages?Your best solution probably depends on how much detail you want. If talking coloring book for 3-5 yr olds then vector lines probably good choice. If you talking those detailed adult coloring books then I'd look at LinreRender 9000 for good clean lines and PWToon for quick and easy. Many of the filter choices produce artifacts with the lines that will need cleaning and/or broken incomplete lines that will need fixing. Good luck with your efforts!
How do I use line renderer to make coloring book pages? You can have it fast, simple, or good. Pick two.
Most filtering stuff, like Fotosketcher and FilterForge and some tricks in Photoshop, can be pretty fast and simple, but run into a number of problems.
PWToon and other mostly 3DL stuff can do pretty fast, not so complicated stuff (though some of the details can be time consuming), but they aren't very good (IMO).
Finally, stuff like https://www.daz3d.com/linerender9000 and my https://www.daz3d.com/oso-toon-shader-for-iray are a bit more involved, but produce (IMO) better results.
Just recalled that I purchased your toon shader a while ago, so I decided to give it a try. I get some script errors though when I try to apply the presets (DS 4.10.0.123):

Toon Dwayne 8Dwayne is a great addition to my Runtime! I think he'll be the figure that gets me to use G8M more often...
The trick is to not put his morph at 100% because then everyone looks like Popeye (unless that's what you're really going for). With some morph playing, I got this gent. Then I finished him up in pwToon!
Edit: Added to my Gallery here: https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/634131/
That's what I was waiting for, thanks for not letting me down.

Looks great, and I agree, a very useful addition to the G8 Toon/Gene pool.

Pwtoon help! It does not work in windows 10.Windows 10 64 bit & an intel i5-3230u GPU for 7 years ago with integrated intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU & all pwToon shadrs work fine for me.
Pwtoon help! It does not work in windows 10.While 3DL doesnt use the graphic card to render the way Iray does, I think 3DL is still dependent on the OpenGL functionality of the card. I wonder if pwToon is requiring a certain level of OpenGL functionality? In the environment settings area you can have D|S query the graphics system for its base functionality. Updating the OEM driver, epecially if the current one is a Windows vanilla version, might help. Then again, it might do nothing! But we never know until we try them.
Not speaking for Daz, but while the company may own the product, I don't believe they created it, or that they maintain it beyond what is already out there.
3delight does not depend on OpenGL for rendering. The Daz shaders have OpenGL shaders for the viewport, but I don't think any of the add-ons - including pwToon - do, you have to render to see their effect and that render depends only on the CPU for processing.

Pwtoon help! It does not work in windows 10.I have Win10 and PWToon.
It works fine. Here's Cartoon Classic.
Pwtoon help! It does not work in windows 10.It refuses to work with Pwtoon, I tried everything. And for a friend it's the same Shady toon and Cartoon classic does not work with windows 10. It works excellent with windows 7 and Daz is the creator of this product so please fix it.
More Non-photorealisitic Renders (NPR II)Once again, I'm trying to decide whether or not to get pwToon. I can't decide if it will help or should I just stick with my regular workflow?
No matter what else I've tried since, I always end up going back to PWToon.
I experiemented with an image @nDelphi did with PwToon (with his permission). I think I'm going to get it. Just wondering if I should wait for a sale.
Original Image With some of my filters (my favorite of the 3).

VERY solid work. I would wait for a sale (there's always another sale!), but that's just me. If you want it, it might just be worth the full investment. Very much looking forward to seeing what you do with it next.
pwToonQuick question just to be sure - are you rendering in Iray or 3DL?
pwToon's in 3DL. If I have Iray elements, I use sickleyield's Iray to 3DL converter to help make things easier to apply the pwToon shader to them.
I'm aware. I'm also aware that Daz defaults to Iray until you tell it otherwise, so there have been times when someone has purchased a 3DL shader and didn't realize it was for 3DL, or didn't realize that Daz was rendering in Iray when they wanted 3DL. Now, Ron says below that he only uses 3DL, so obviously that isn't the problem. But I always think it is good to "check to make sure the machine is plugged in" before trying to troubleshoot.
