Morphs from G3 to G8
Some morphs will get stuck on "Correcting ERC Links". I'm not sure if there is a fix for it. As far as I can tell Singular Blues wasn't able to duplicate that error.
So far, the steps that SEEM to work best for me is:
1) Load ONLY the "Base" figures for the morphs you want to transfer. So say you want to transfer Victoria 6 to Genesis 8 Female. Load Only Base Genesis 2 Female (no morphs dialled in) and Only Base Genesis 8 Female (no morphs dialled in). Start the script.
2) From the "Select a Figure" dropdown select the Source (in this case Genesis 2 Female) and select the Target (in this case Genesis 8 Female).
3) In the "Enter Text to Filter by..." type in Victoria 6. Put a check mark by "Victoria 6", "Victoria 6 Body", and "Victoria 6 Head".
4) Highlight "Victoria 6 Body" and at the bottom where it says "Type" choose "Body". Where it says "Bake Mode" choose "Bake Source Shape".
5) Highlight "Victoria 6 Head" and at the bottom change the "Type" to "Head".
6) Select "Output Library" (where you want the morphs to go, since this is a "beta" I highly recommend setting up a "Test Library" for both this script as well as the transfer morphs -so if something goes wrong you can quarantine the script and the morphs from the rest of your content library).
6) Hit "Accept". After the transfer is done (if it doesn't get hung up on "Correcting ERC Links") and the "Process Complete" box pops up, click "Exit".
7) Now completely close out Daz Studio. And then start Daz Studio back up again. (It needs to reload so that the morphs show up in the Shaping Tab.)
8) Load up Genesis 8 Female and in the shaping tab type in Victoria 6 in the search. You should be able to find the new morphs that way.
Some morphs will need an "Edit" >> "Rigging" >> "Adjust Rigging to Shape" - Like I believe the Victoria 6 transferred morph does.
So far those are the steps that seem to work for me. I'm still experimenting with it though. I could be doing it wrong but after a lot of trial and error those steps seem to give decent results so far. :)
I followed your instructions but I still get stuck at 27% of the process... It starts buolding the projection map, loads the morphs I chosed and stops there. The timer goes on and when I click on Cancel and I close the windows I get an error message.

How did you install? Not finding files thata re there can be down to DS thinking Connect was used (installed through Smart Content or the Install pane) but the files are not in that location, just the location from install manager (which you have confirmed are there). If you find the Victoria 8 product in the Smart Content pane's Products tab what, if any, icon does it have to top-right of the thumbnail?
Morphs from G3 to G8Can someone write a brief tutorial on how this script works? I ran it with Rune 7 to G8 Female, and it supposedly completed -- but then it just deleted everything in the scene. Where am I supposed to find the morph?
Also, I can't transfer Olympia 7 to G8 Female. It gets stuck as it's "correcting ERC links." Would someone mind testing to see if it's just me?
(The 34 seconds is just for the screenshot. Previously I let it run for 7 minutes)
Thank you!

Duplicate materials when importing Genesis2I can't recall the technical reason, if any. The Importer hasn't been updated in years.
There is a free script from D3D (God Bless him) to convert Generation 4 materials to Genesis 2 materials you might find useful. It works both in Poser and Studio...
http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=dazscript&product=gen4g2mat
Edit; thinking about it, you need to buy the UVs in order to use Generation 4 materials with the above script. Sadly, I think they were on a big sale just the other day...

Thanks for the write-up, Diva. Although if this only works in the base figures, I have to say that’s very disappointing. I was hoping to transfer characters I made from G3 to G8.
Oh, you can transfer any morph, as far as I can tell (except HD morphs, I'm sure). You just need to load the "Base" figures when doing the transfer so that the script doesn't get confused. Once you load the base figure you should be able to find any morph made for that figure on the list.

Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 12Do those scripts convert all V4 to G8F at once or do you have to go through and manually pick specific products?
You can convert several items of clothing at once with the scripts, but I prefer to convert one outfit at a time. I highly recommend reading this thread as it contains hints and tips on several different features of the product. River Soft gives useful advice too.

I have recently bought the RSSY clothing converter from V4 to G8 female and used it to convert several V4 outfits including this Sensibility Dress. I tried out the Floral silk iray shaders with this dress. I think it is best to use a smaller pattern on this dress. There are some lovely floral patterns in this product.

Who is the beautiful girl used by Goldtassel in promo pics that looks like Felicity Jones?Wouldn't it be funny if the developer chimed in and said she was pure victoria 8 and it was all the lighting, LOL
it is Osuine as mention on the first page
but not quite with the default settings
i have a renderer coming up in a few min
some changes are done but i think i can improve her.

I have some of the converters but haven't had time to try them yet (working on files from the other store) Yours look good :) and I like the floral too.

a little talk about "genesis family and it's future(1, 2, 3, 8 and maybe future 9??)well compared with most of peoples here i'm really a lot "new" to DAZ (but it did already did a huge damage to my pockets
) but at first i really liked it, it really help a lot to my line of work which is game design, i can grab a lot of things and reduce months or even years or work and peoples working on it.I've coming from CC3 after get a lot frustrated with it and it's limitations and bugs, then while daz does have it's own issues (specially which some payed features would be good and make more sense if was "free"(part of the program) with the program like the decimator) it's still a lot at front of CC3 not just by the huge library but also it's characters which are what bought me to stick with daz and almost give up on CC3 which are my main point here.
i've decided to work with GEN8 because was the new one and getting more content and content with more quality, which also can be a issue too since "quality" here means "more polygons" and by more i means insane amount, i can understand which most of the content here is made for "render" and not for animation or game design the famous "fibermesh" and others things like really high poly outfits(even without high resolution) are really a pain even to load inside daz, my machine is a i7 with a gtx1070 and 16 giga ram and when the character alone already around 500k+ the program already start to lag a lot(what is opposite when i'm using unreal engine where it' can easy load the same character and not start to slow down), in some cases going too high also can means a little "bad work" and a little lazynes(no offense to anyone and not saying the artists do really amazing jobs)since is more easy to have a really high polly asset than have to retopology and make a lot of work to make it's look better without need that high ammount of polygons and bla bla bla.
But after comparing G1, G2, G3 and G8, i would say which if not was for it being a little too old and the fact which i've alread invested a lot in G8, maybe for my case G2, would be the best option, because it was the one with the "best base polygons" in my opnion, being around 22k, make it almost perfect and don't look " low poly" when in base as like 16k can look( at las tin shoulders), i would love if the next generation would be around that number like G2 was, or at last like between 20 and maybe 25k what is good enough to make the character really looks all round without any square, to be fair G8 still look very good with it's 16k poly but it would look better really being around 20k, specially with today machines.
This something i really would hope to see for the next generation a "increase in polygons" for the character base, don't need to go crazy like it was in milleniun victoria and michael 4 which are around 70k base(basically a doubled version of genesis 3 or 8), for a character base for game design and also for amateur animation being around 20 to max of 24k is a very good number which in high resolution would bring amazing details for some artists.
would be cool if they could mix the poly account of g2 with the power and versatility of g8 to make a really cool ne generation.
Another thing i would love would be daz would become more popular among indie devs like me to maybe make the artists start to also worry more for that side and be more "game friendly" with they works
in the future and maybe in next generation we could get some works being less "polygons or maybe a sort of release of 2 versions" one for render peoples which not care about poly count and one more game friendly with a more controlled number of polygons to attract more peoples to buy things here.I really love this place and really my only complain is which while in "base" it can be very game dev friendly(with some features which can be used for that) when comes to content it's in general a lot very scare lol and complicated, you can still find some good works which are still "friendly" but you need to dig a lot for that.
what is your favorite generation???
for what reason?
and what you would love to see in the next one???
Iray errorHi Did you check this directory to see if you actually have this texture?
I checked mine and i have it in my directory I would think it is installed when installing Victoria 8 .

Genesis 2 Female Iray Based Characters.I only have one G2F with Iray, it's Sabby-Bunny for Genesis 2 (by Sabby at Renderosity). Though I picked up this character because she came with G8F morphs too. She uses Victoria 5 UVs.

Genesis 2 Female Iray Based Characters. There are a couple of iray skins here: https://www.daz3d.com/ig-iray-essentials-victoria-6-michael-6
IG had a freebie pack for Aiko, Darius, Gia, Gianni, Girl, Lee, Lilith, Mei Lin, Monique, Olympia, and Stephanie a couple of years ago, but it's not available in the store. Only a few worked, most had missing texture file errors and CS was no help.
But the ones that worked were great! You could click on them in "figures" in smart content and they would load like any figure, but with iray materials already applied.Found the description:
"The 2015 Christmas Giveaway items are offered as free items from the DAZ PA (Premiere Artist) Community. Each item is offered for 2 days only. These items are not made by, or supported by Daz 3D. They're free, but you're on your own when working with them. Enjoy your freebies, and happy holidays!"
So yeah, some didn't work and no support.
The former freebies are available from IG's Deviantart page now.
Do you have a link to the DA page? The DA search is as bad as DAZ forum's.
Never mind, found it!They Need Base Figure.
Kala 8 is here!I owned three G8 Pro Bundles at the time of Sanjay's release (Ollie, Alexandra, Sydney, had picked up the base characters for Victoria, Edward, Bridget, and possibly Michael as well), and at the time of Kala's release owned four G8 Pro Bundles counting Sanjay. Got the same deal in both cases: a $10 bump from the base amount of free stuff ($30 to $40 for Sanjay and $40 to $50 for Kala).
Two nearly identical items in the store, why? - AnsweredI see two nearly identical items in the store from the same vendor. There are two products that enable using G2F/V6 skin textures on G8F, but why are there two separate ones?
Needless to say, this is confusing, especially since one costs more than the other...
addon/script/option to allow export texture layers be exported/extracted separated from the textureI believe the OP means being able exract make-up from textures that have them painted directly on the base face texture. I have tried PaintShop Pro's difference function but unfortunately always end up with the make-up layer on a black background instead of transparent.
yeah, i want something which allow us to be able to instead of export the texture which already all details painted on it, a tool which would allow us to extract "each of that layer" apart from the main texture skin, like i saw a awesome make up on a character but instead of extract/export the full texture painted with the make up i would be able to extract only the make up and be able to use it in another character or mesh/skin, like a make up for "mika" character be able to be usable victoria and things like that, be able to do that outside daz, like when you see peoples releasing, tattoos and others "extra details layers" then a option where you are able to export that detail layers outside daz, to be able to use them in any character without need to extract a "full skin version with every detail
ok here a very basic and not well made exemple(the composition is not perfect but good enough to show what i means)
the body hair is being loaded as a sepparated texture but being applied to the main texture, almost like what happen in daz when you have layered textures, but the good side is having the right textures(alpha=Black&white and all others) you can "customize it" in this case i could customize it to have the color yellow but with small changes i can apply any color i want or add any effect, like emissive and others things, that could make any skin detail being usable in any skin, from eyebrows, to moles, to brushs, dirty, body and face hairs, tattoos basically any detail can be applied to any material as long it is not direct applied to the base texture and layered.
