G9 females all look depressed
You guys have to tweak both partial head morph and expressions with pose control dials, as well as the shape of their teeth, 'cause they look not good and nearly all the same... Easy Teeth or sculpt.
MimicMolly's Renders & WIPsSince I can't render, I will roughly explain how I made this new head morph. I used Face Gen (to G8F) and a combination of Blender. I had previously made a G9 bodysuit in the shape of G8F, so I applied this bodysuit and dialed in the Face Gen head. Then, I sent this to Blender to refine. (I don't know if there's been an update for Face Gen to work with G9. So in the meantime, I use this crude method.) Then, I imported my .OBJ and made a head morph. Still rigged it with the non-G9 Shape Rigger Plus, that I haven't updated and won't. (Apparently, it no longer works with G9. So you would have to buy the new version which supposedly does more.)
As for the skin, I had used Map Transfer to transfer the G9 Clara face skin as a G8F UV material. Then, I used Map Transfer again to make the result back into G9. Afterwards, I was just carefully painting it over and doing color corrections with GIMP to match the original G9 skin. I did this for both the Diffuse and SS texture. Since this is for my own personal use, my method is sufficient. Interestingly, my eyebrows almost match with the default load of the Card Eyebrows. For my self-insert's eyes, I used JP Sandor HD's brown eyes. They are not LIE, which is what I wanted, plus the color was close to mine, so that's good.
(Seriously, I want to transfer this exact head shape backwards, just so I don't have to deal with Autofit and other conversion issues.)
EDIT: Oh yeah, another reason I haven't been posting is because these forums are screwing up pics. So I'll have to go back and fix things.
MimicMolly's Renders & WIPsI've been so busy that I really haven't had time to render anything, because it's the most time-consuming hobby I have. (Even more than sewing, but that's because I can't easily "walk away" from a render.) Takes a while to set up a scene, then an even longer while trying to render it. This isn't counting whether or not my laptop decides to throw in the towel.
Today, I wanted to take the time to talk about Calypso 9, who didn't get her own thread. Here is a render I did with her and my own self-insert G9 (who has been improved and is the most accurate looking model to date. I wish I could transfer her head over to G8F and the rest of the other Genesis models.) Anyway, this render attempt also managed to have the same fate of my laptop crashing. Fortunately, I did save the scene, so I could try again later (I suspect its the reflective shader acting up.) And this render was saved in the temp file.

Anyway, Calypso 9 is the only Thorne character I currently have for G9. And I'm glad I waited because she comes with monster teeth, claws, head spikes, lots of morphs, compared to the regular G9 characters who just come with their regular and HD morphs. She was also at a bargain that I grabbed her Pro Bundle (but haven't downloaded the content yet.) The additional morphs; Old, Toon, "Plus-Size" work well with other shapes. The Toon shape is very similar to Calypso's head, the only difference is that it's more neutral/less-"Thorny" and mixes better.
The older generation: Victoria 2/3, Michael 2/3 and their children rendersI have been using the PA sale to get the remaining Glamerous Vicky stuff I haven't got at a price I can at last afford.
I've been trying to use Poser Dynamic fabric. It was quite hard to get it to work. In the end I had to convert GV3 to Triax Weight mapping, export the dress as an obj, import, make into a figure & transfer the rigging before then simulating from the default pose. Due to the size of the facets around the neck it exploded every time I tried until I realised scaling the character to 500% would give the required clearances. It was a lot more long winded than I had expected. However.. The result doesn't look much like I have resurrected a 20yo character.

Regards,
Richard
Buy Something That Doesn't Work in Carrara? Post your Questions and Workarounds here. (please)As for Method B, you probably shouldn't have to change the morph location from "Morph" to "Actor". Morph is accebtable. We just have to remember to Save As > Figure/Prop Asset > Morph Asset

I would like to clarify that I'm not looking as much for detail as I am fidelity. Ever since I started using DAZ I've strived for realism. It has been demonstrated by crosswind that these Hi-Fi morphs can be created using the base resolution so I don't see why I would need to increase the poly count. My only roadblock now is lacking sculpting skill and no existing products that contain these Hi-Fi morphs. I guess an option I could use is using a character's pre made HD morphs but there isn't as much customization in that
That's right ~~ IMHO, you don't have to customize your figures with HD morph, which is never a must-to-have for a good render. But sculpting skill is worth learning, no matter you use it to build / shape a figure or fixing things.
TangoAlpha's Coming Soon: End of the Track [Commercial]OK, so I FINALLY noticed that MV Stella now has a hull, which is designed to accomodate the Command Deck and Crew Deck.
So of course I tried to squeeze in the Engineering deck too. I stretched the back half of the hull a bit in Hexagon (via a morph) and widened it a bit so that Engineering would fit nicely inside, and duplicated the MVS extender to fill the gap between Command and Crew...
Here are the results, in case anyone was curious:

The hull extension morph messed with the window covers rotation alignments, so I ended up using the ones that camed with the Crew Deck, and using the joint editor tool and a bit of scaling to 're-align' the Command Deck window covers. In any case, just wanted to share!

Not sure if it'd be possible to debug and fix, but at least it's only one morph you might have to lose from your mix (and at least you have a choice as to which one to lose)...
Thanks for taking this forward! And as you say, easy to work around now we know the culprit. Initially, I was faced with dozens of morphs with no clue how to resolve, other than methodical exclusion one by one... I have a bad habit of just messing about with dials until I get the look I want, which results in too many dialled up, really.

Morphs have worked on some critters but not on others - too early to tell if there is a pattern.
Two different workarounds.
Method A - Save as Figure (may need converting to blended weight as well)

In DAZ Studio with your Proteus morph dialed up, Save As - Support Asset - Figure/Prop Assets...

You will need to locate the Figure file in your Carrara install
Method B - In DAZ Studio Save as Scene Subset and update Morph location.

In DAZ Studio in your Parameters tab, click on Morphs, then click on the gear shaped icon to open the Parameter Settings.

In Parameters Settings in the Path down arrow icon, change Morph to Actor

Save the Morph in Support Asset - Morph Asset(s)...
Once done save as Scene Subset again convert to blended weight if required

What is Joint Coreectives?Joint Corrective means when a joint on a figure rotates, the mesh (vertex positions) around that joint will change. Such a change may result in deformation even ugly distortion in terms of the shape around that area. So we use a Joint Corrective Morph to fix 'deformation' by using the mechanics of ERC (Enhanced Remote Control), i.e. when a joint roates, the correspoinding Joint Corrective Morph(s) will be automatically triggered.
Starting from Genesis 3, there's a build-in Base Joint Correctives mechanism. Howerver, on G3, there's no single control property to active / deactivate (On/Off) Base Joint Correctives on the figure. On G8, there's a boolean property to toggle its On/Off. Well, on G9, control property of Base Joint Correctives is a range of % from 0% to 100%, with which you may have a chance to control the 'strenghness' of corrective morphs holistically.

No matter the details come from (muscles, bones, tendon, vasculature, etc.), they'll be shown by morphs and textures that can enhance them. Yes, that's the case as you mentioned, HD morphs could be only made by PAs with a MultiResolution plugin, which can export and import the figure with High Resolution level. Users can only use Base Resolution Level. All other so-called 'HD morphs' make by some users are all fake and have various problems. So normally users just buy some packages with HD morphs.
But it doesn't mean you cannot create such morphs by yourself with Base Resolution, as long as you can use some tricks, eg.g a bit heavier sculpting + careful smoothing and refinement, as what I just roughly did in SS down below....
I was afraid of that... I'm not the best at sculpting. I guess this is another reason why I should get better. Are you aware of any published products labelled as "merchant resources" that include these sort of morphs?
AFAIK, nope... I haven't seen any other 'big morph package' products (more than 200 partial body morphs) in which there're similar HD morphs you mentioned, and is marked as 'merchant resources' at the same time, except for some products from Zev0 and bitwelder.
BTW, in general, 'merchant resource' means that you can use the product to create your own resources (shapes, morphs, textures, etc.) for commercial purpose. If you only use products for buiding your scenes and rendering, you don't need any merchant resources, as Richard mentioned.
That is, for creating new productas that will be sold = or more rarely given away - as content. If you are selling only the final image then the basic license will cover you, with a few specific exceptions (the old Anne Marie Goddard Digitial Clone for Victoria 3, for example).

Problem with elbow in bendingJust create a set of materials that are non glossy, grey, something like that. What American corporations consider unacceptable nudity is a breakfast cereal commercial in France but we're using an American company's forums which are hosted on American servers and subject to American laws and American sensibilities; we're in their house. Their rules. It really is that simple.
The character image below will not be removed by the moderators and would show your problems just fine, even with a younger morph shape applied. It'll take you two minutes to make a material set like that and keep you on the good side of the mods. Great job on fixing your problem btw - I would certainly not have thought to do it that way!

How to use Mirror in Morp Loader?Mirroring options are built on the symmetry of an object, three options for each axis: 1 Swap + 2 ways replication. Swap just means exchange: L > R and R > L.
Although human being's body is not 100% symmetrical in the real world, Genesis figure in Daz is symmetrical on midsagittal plane, i.e. X axis. So if you wanna use Mirroring function on Genesis (as well as Vx), you can only use the options of 'X axis'.
As for your case, let's take G9 'Thighs Side-Side' as an example, after you fixed and updated the cbs 'body_cbs_thigh_z90p_l' on Left Thigh, you wanna use the fixed morph to update 'body_cbs_thigh_z90n_r' on Right Thigh, two ways as below:
- Use replicate: keep G9's current pose (Left Thigh Side-Side 90), dial Right Thigh Side-Side to -90, import the fixed morph 'body_cbs_thigh_z90p_l' with Morph Loader Pro, change Name to 'body_cbs_thigh_z90n_r', Reverse + Delta, choose 'X : + to - (Left to Right)' from Morph Mirroring dropdown list
- Use swap: reset G9's pose (Left Thigh Side-Side to 0), dial Right Thigh Side-Side to -90, use the step above but choose 'X: Swap'PS: Mirroring could be also used on fixing fbm/bs, pjcm/cbs, etc on a Wearable, as long as the Wearable is fully symmetrical on X. Well, sometimes if you use Symmetry in Blender to fix both sides but just wanna update one side, better use Attenuate in Morph Loader Pro rather than Mirroring.

Doesn't that just convert figures to Genesis 9? I'm more hoping for something that converts from Genesis 9 to Genesis 8
Yep! just pointing out that it might be easier to just transfer your character to G8 so that the G9 clothing works as intended.
