Vanishing Point is an interesting choice for Daz store. A lot of unmarked Star Trek fan art, some Poser stuff, some real world stuff, some weirdness. I like some of the models, even if the ones I like are older.
Weekend sale might be nice - There are a few items I missed the first time, but it will cost a little more. I'm hoping for sweeteners.
I don't know if this has been noted, you can't buy the same item more than once any more. The site gives a "this item can't be added to cart" notice and now routes to the item in your product library. I thnk that's a recent change. I don't think it did that at March Madness.
...one way that you could end up buying the same VP item twice is if you originally bought it at the "other store". I went through my entire order list there and that was a good thing as I almost put one item (Beechcraft G-17 S) in my cart that I had already purchased there a while back.
Vanishing Point's products have been sold at a number of sites, so it is not just a matter of looking at Renderosity to check if you already own it. They also bought out Poser World's vast catalogue of Poser products, and some of these are in the list now sold here, so if you ever subscribed to Poser World, and grabbed all their models when you did, you might already own those few.
Star Wars Renders 2013 +The new outfit in the store reminded me of some things Carrie Fisher said about it and killing Jabba the Hut
Quotes
"I remember that iron bikini I wore in 'Episode VI,' what supermodels will eventually wear in the seventh ring of Hell." She's also said that her favorite moment in the "Star Wars" films was killing Jabba the Hutt.
"I had a lot of fun killing Jabba the Hutt. They asked me on the day if I wanted to have a stunt double kill Jabba. No! That's the best time I ever had as an actor,"
she told NPR in an interview, that for her that scene, “was like, ‘Where am I in all of this?’ … I have to stay with the slug with the big tongue! Nearly naked, which is not a style choice for me. … It wasn’t my choice. When [director George Lucas] showed me the outfit, I thought he was kidding and it made me very nervous. I had to sit very straight because I couldn’t have lines on my sides, like little creases. No creases were allowed, so I had to sit very, very rigid straight.”
But in the end it all paid off, she says, because, “What redeems it is I get to kill him, which was so enjoyable. … I sawed his neck off with that chain that I killed him with. I really relished that because I hated wearing that outfit and sitting there rigid straight, and I couldn’t wait to kill him.”

At Renderhub, artist XR71 has several:
Gina Dune for G8 - Gina Carano
Lisa Character for Genesis 8 - Lisa Kudrow
Marissa for G8 - Marissa Tomei
Grace for G8 - Mckenna Grace
Rachael for G8 - Sean Young (as seen in Blade Runner)
Nina for Genesis 8 - Adult film star Nina Hartley (NSFW warning)
...and several others that I think are meant to be celebrities, that I don't recognize.
Of note, some of his models really look like the celebrities they are based on...
Monica - Monica Bellucci
No More Fanart? (Missing Products)Well, I was keeping my eye on the fanart products to make a few Star Trek renders, and it seems like they're gone from the store. I was wondering if anyone knew what was up with that and if there's a chance they may be back--which seems unlikely, but hope springs eternal.
EDIT: What the Hell? Why is my username gone, and this stupid thing displaying my email address? How did this even happen? No wonder I keep getting more and more spam nowadays. If any mods see this, please get me back my Uthgard handle.

Choke Hold Pose?Anyone know of any pose packs for interacting figures that could be used to recreate a choke hold a la Darth Vader with the rebel in opening scene of Star Wars or Thanos with Loki or Vision in Infinity War (or even, like, beginning of the pro wrestling hold known as the choke slam)? Is it possible to find something here on Daz?

HAS THE CLOCK STARTED TICKING FOR DAZ?....Video killed the radio star, MP3 killed the video star, and Streaming did so to the MP3 and now we've arrived at AI which can compose and perform a piece in anyone's style from Bach to the Beatles.
OK with that out of my system, The one thing that keeps me working with Daz is the fact I have control over the process. Yes, I'm using pregenerated content but I determine how it is morphed, posed, positioned, "kitbashed", and "skinned". If I could wrap my head around modelling better then the process would even come closer to teh vision I have. On the other hand, AI uses a library of other people's works to draw from and tries its best approximate what the user enters in at the prompt. It may look fantastic but little has if any originality in my book..
For example, I've played with DA's Dream Up engine and it was, well, cute. Of course I just had to see what typing in the perennial Naked Vicky In A Temple With A Sword would produce. Yeah after the third try I got the result I wanted, however it wasn't my own vision or interpretation of the theme (reminded me more of how the Brothers Hildebrant sould have interpreted it) and there in is the reason to keep working with Daz.

I heard an interview once that Carrie Fisher ended up with that costume because she complained that her earlier costumes made it hard to tell she was a woman. Then they gave her the bikini.Actually she stated that it wasn't her choice and that she hated it

i'm really happy to see Vanishing Point here, they have some lovely houses and such that only need a little attention for more close-up rendering. And they do mention on almost every item store page that the models were originally designed for mid- to long distance renders, so one knows what one's getting. Prices are also more than fair. Got two wonderful derelict barns that had been on my Rendo WL for ages!
Agreed. I'm also glad to see them here. My wishlist just grew by some 30 items from their store. I was, however, a bit surprised to see them here. IIRC they were here some time ago and it seemed like it didn't go well because they left after a few months.

I don't know that also be a typical Princess of Mars outfit. Heck even some of the princesses that live near my keep. :-)

yeah I was suprised too and I've wanted this outfit too so happy didn't get the EL took screenshot of sales page as proof in case it goy removed and readded with it. Maybe because it's kinda been erased of sorts from Star Wars merchandise everything that used that outfit was discontinued plus the term "s-a-e" is a naughty word and is not allowed either (Boba Fett's ship name was renamed too, and probably can't say What Anakin and his mother was) offically but many others have cashed in on it still via cheap versions of the costume to accurate cosplay versions and used in other media and there are variations used elsewhere by dancers

I'm willing to pay at this point.....
You already paid $20 for the incompatible sketch fab model
if you are willing to pay even more why not invest in a similar styled mech that you know will work.

The model I'm trying to import is a recreation from an IP I'm a fan of. Imagine being a Star Wars fan and wanting to import an X-wing. Some random fighter wouldn't do.
