  • Headshop One Click vs Headshop 11

I know in the old one you could't use just any texture. I think you could, but the problem was that the face texture has very obvious seems where it was stitched over the original, and that kind of happens even if you the default HS gives you. One of the best features of Facegen is that it generates body textures based on the textures you feed it. These are color matched to the face you upload. However, in my experience the real use of this feature is very limited. I think what is wrong is that Facegen is tuned for the default textures. So when you replace them, it does not do a good job of adjusting color. I have had Facegen generate skins that are neon red or blue. So even though it claims you can use any texture, you really cannot. What I ended up doing was editing the default textures and using them as a base. Even so, FG does a good job adjusting the color of of the base textures to match the face, and blends them in decently.

You could perhaps use Skin Builder textures in Facegen, it is totally possible, but I cannot say what the result may be. You may get odd colors. If you want to use Skin Builder, I recommend manually applying the Facegen or HeadShop created face over the skin you want to use with Photoshop or similar. In GIMP the Heal Tool can handle this task.

I haven't tested HS11 yet, so I cannot say how it does. I plan of trying it.

thanks .I dcided to pass on HS11 and OneClick

  • Headshop 11 crashes: "Daz model not found"

After posting my question, I found a comment in this forum post that suggested resetting the Temporary Files and DSON Cache Folders to their default settings.

I've done this, and I'm now able to use the program.

This seems like a preventable bug in Headshop. Since Daz decides where temp/cache files live, Headshop should be able to easily look up those settings (from the Windows registry, I assume) and use the correct Daz-specified locations. Numerous people seem to be hitting this preventable error, so I'd like to suggest that Abalone consider correcting this problem.

And since others are hitting this problem, I'll leave this post in place even though two others mention it. This one has a post title that directly references the specific error message, so it should be easy for people to find. I'll also link to this post from the other two posts that mention the problem in their post content.

  • Headshop 11 crashes: "Daz model not found"

Every time I try Headshop, it ends in a "Daz model not found" error and a fatal crash.

    Possibly-relevant information:

    • Daz is installed in the default C:\Program Files folder.
    • My Daz library is on a secondary data drive.
    • The product library page shows a link for DIM installation, but Headshop doesn't appear in my DIM.
    • I install Headshop via the manual installer, using default settings.

This post recommends loading the figure from DAZConnet and/or saving the model as a scene. I've tried both, but the error persists.

    Here's what I do:

    1. Launch Daz.
    2. From Smart Content, load Genesis 2 Base Female.
    3. Edit > Start Headshop.
    4. The Surface and Geometry lists don't appear, so I check View/Change Figure Settings to make them appear.
    5. Surface Selection is correct (Face and Lips), but Geometry to Morph is incorrect (head, lEye, rEye), so I uncheck lEye and rEye.
    6. Click Accept; Headshop launches.
    7. Close the Start Learning dialog.
    8. On the Create New Project dialog, blick the Browse area and select a photo.
    9. The photo loads with keypoints correctly identified, but immediately a dialog appears: "Headshop / Daz model not found".
    10. Click OK on that dialog.
    11. Click Apply on the Create New Project dialog.

The following error dialog appears, titled Microsoft.NET Framework:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

    Value cannot be null.

    Parameter name: fileName.

Then there's a lengthy Detials section.

Is there a way to resolve this? I don't usually return products for a refund, but so far this one is frustrating...and I haven't even gotten to use it yet.

  • Headshop 11 Licence Key?

Does HeadShop 11 work with just Daz3d 4.10? Not working in 4.11.

If you right-click on Headshop's entry in the Installed tab of DIM (assuming that it can be and was installed that way) and select Show Installed Files the line at the top will show which version(s) of DS it installed to.

    Not found in 4.11 version

HeadShop does not install via DIM, it has its own installer. With that said, you can install it to Daz3d 4.11.

Not sure how to manually install it directly into the 4.11 version.

    Please see in manual: https://printahead.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/HeadShop11manual.pdf

  • Headshop 11 Questions

How can one move autodots in Headshop 11?

Could you describe it here, without pointing out to the video tutorial.

In Front tab, I have just tried to click on the dot, but it does not select the dot

and only move around the reference picture itself.

It will be useful for the reference pictures, when the backgroud and one side of the face is bright.

info_b3470fa520 and I were able to fix my problem. First off, my Daz installation was a little messed up and unorthodox, and I was actually installing HeadShop to the wrong place. After we got past that, HeadShop would say "Daz model not found." info_b3470fa520 fixed this by having me set my Temporary Files and DSON Cache Files folders back to their default settings, under Edit > Preferences.

Thanks a lot for the help!

@daveso thanks but I had no idea the question was posed & answered in the other thread as this thread was created before that one. smiley

Eitherway, it is now perfectly clear that HS11 upgrade does not work for owners of Oneclick.

i know..but just stated that for reference.

Yes, it has been on a similar thread. HeadShop and OneClick are separate products. One cannot upgrade from the other. So, the answer is no.

Therefore I don't understand why HeadShop 10 was taken off the market when OneClick came along? It was as though OneClick was HS10 replacement. The option to get HS10 was taken away for those who had HS9. A bit disappointing. So I got Oneclick & as with other users I could not get it to work & gave up on it! I have foolishly purchased every version (except 10 that disappeared) hoping always the next would work as it should without jumping through hoops but I think this is where the money train stop for this product. sad

Headshop 10 has not been in the store for months. It was removed when Headshop One click came along. This is why this seems a strange upgrade offer, when you need to to have a product that has not been for sale for some time.

My sentiments exactly! Anyway, best of luck with this version, hopefully users can get this to work for them.

well now I have the headshop plugin in daz and when I select it it loads the program until I select an image... I then get a message "DAZ Model not found" and it then errors out.

My Data folder is on a seperate drive then my Daz Studio

    for example i have J:\Program Files\Daz 3D\DAZStudio4 and my library files are in F:\My DAZ 3D Library\data

I looked in the FSConfig file ans see that the path uses a root directory data/Daz%203D/

any reason why it would error out?

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

It appears the skin still "bakes in" the lightingand some expression limits and mirrors(expected) what it can not see. It seems to do a "better job" than the last version but a lot of editing looks like it is needed to "even out" the skin.

Duplicating the pose and lighting looks rather good for a down and dirty program.

I admit this is not $1K software running ona  $5K machine to do facial capture for movie CGI. It certainly has its place for some workflows.

I see this as a really good way to get "random" models(heads/skins) from the internet to give your renders a variety.

I had used 10 but had to return it since the autodots would not let me edit them on my system for whatever reason we could not get worked out.

I think it would be incredibly hard to make the program "smart" enough to determine if a white spot is light reflection or just the color of the skin. It may be possible, as HS11 is capable of figuring out where teeth are, which is in itself quite a feat. It is also impressive that it can mirror parts of the face it cannot see. Actually it is kind of amazing this can work at all. Even with expensive face capture software and equipment artists still have to manually fix things, and when they take scans they do so under a fully controlled environment and lighting. In other words they do everything to make sure the pictures are free of glare, and control expressions, ect. Considering HS11 can do this with a single photo which can be far from perfect is a real feat.

To get better face textures, the answer is simple, use better pictures. This applies to Facegen as well. If you want the most accurate face possible you need to have photos from controlled environments. While HS11 can do things in less perfect situations, the fact remains that you do want the best photos possible.

I'm going into this with an open mind. One problem I see is that many posters have "reviewed" HeadShop 11 without even owning it. Maybe Facegen is way better, but if you have not even tried HeadShop 11 you have no right to state that. HeadShop 10 was not very good, and I already stated I returned HS10. That is pretty extreme for me because I almost never return things. But even so I am looking at HS11 with an open mind and will give it a shot. I am doing so because it does look like Abalone has taken criticism to heart and made some changes. You guys probably know I am fairly opinionated, and I will offer my opinion, good or bad, when I get my hands on it and really test it. Like I said, I still like Facegen, but there are times when FG drive me crazy, and the requirement for near perfect pictures to get any decent result is tough sometimes.

Also, it might be a really good idea to have one HeadShop 11 thread, and direct people to that thread.

  • Headshop 11 Full will not install

Purchased the Full version today and it installs Successfully. However the installer (I watched it) does not install any of the Plugins or needed files into the (Program Files\Daz 3D\Daz Studio 4) Directory. it only installs the (Daz 3D\Headshop plugin)

however the InstallLog states differently showing it successfully installed in Daz Studio 4.. but the files are nowhere to be seen

I even tried installing as admin and it did not install the needed daz studio 4 files

Okay okay PLEASE NOTE!! this is for those who have daz studio installed on another Directory other than C:\
Even though you are selecting the Directory to intall the headshop plugin (i.e. G:\Program files\Daz 3D\Headshop plugin) the intaller will still install the plugins to C:\Program files\Daz 3D\DAZStudio4
