[Released] Character Converter from Genesis 3 Female to Genesis 8 Female(Now Conv JCMs) [Commercial]
I think that there would be an audience, since GenX basically transfers morphs rather than characters.
Not to highjack this thread completely, but could you explain what this means?
With GenX, you check the morphs that you want to transfer between generations, so "nose size" or "Victoria 5 head," etc. Then those morph dials become available on the target generation figure.
Sounds like this, on the other hand, will transfer the entire character you have highlighted, so your character could have a bunch of morphs, and all those active morphs (including JCMs, if activated) would be transferred, plus a resulting dial for just that character. So this would be easier to transfer custom characters or characters in the store that are based on existing morph packs (see Saiyaness's characters). With GenX, you'd have to find out which morph dials were being used, transfer those morphs, and then apply the value of each morph dial to the new generation to get the same character. With this product, you can easily get the character transferred.
But of course you can create a single morph using GenX2, so you can convert a full character as far as Genesis 3 that way.
ETA: Mind you, I'm not saying I'd complain about having a fully supported RiverSoftArt alternative! This looks like a useful product for me too.
Remember, "There's Always Another Sale™" (Report sales errors here.)On this morning's sale, the area for the 90% off M4/V4 items is blank... does that mean I own them all, or is something not working? :-O
No. What it means is that the "50% OFF¥ Featured Artist Catalog Items" Headline is out of place. It should be just above the featured artists. Then the sliding banner (which is the one for the 90% off with purchase) that is now below it would be where it belongs above that headline and just below the "90% off Daz Original Victoria 4 & Michael 4 Items" headline.
Ah, I re-looked, and yes, I see how it's muddled, thank you. Still, only one page of items, and only one on my wishlist. Obviously a sign that I have enough of those bits, at least. :-)

two peoples poseOkay. I have five screenshots for you. Each shows a different approach the PA took with the presets. These are the development figures from the G8 Starter Essentials, with the female tinted light red and the male tinted light blue. (You may also notice I've used G8M poses on G8F and vice-versa. I was just being efficient, as this computer takes forever to load figures.)
1. In this pose set, the dark red figure displays the pose. I used pose 29M on the female and 30M on the male. (M stands for "mirror" so poses 30 and 30M are mirrors of each other.) This number convention is different than most of my pose sets, in that it uses two numbers for each pose grouping, one for each pose. Other sets, including the other four examples here, use one number for all the poses in a set, and indicate who the pose is for in other ways.
2. This pose set tells you which pose is for the Fairy and which is for the Giant. It also tells uses the figure names, Mika8 and Ollie8, and includes the same pose for the base G8F and G8M figures. And if that isn't enough, there is the pink dot in the upper right corner of the female poses, and a blue dot in the upper right corner of the male poses. The base image of the pose for the preset, however, is the same for all four presets.
3.This pose set shows the pose figure in a solid color, much like the two figures I'm using. G8F is pink, G8M is blue, and the gray figure just shows how the two go together. This set also mentions which figure the pose is for, G8F or G8M, in the name of the preset. (You will also notice there are three presets that appear to be identical. I didn't try them all, but when I chose the G8M that is next to the G8F in the right column shown here, the male figure was posed correctly but centered where the female figure is currently standing. When I chose the third preset for both, the figures ended up as you see here.)
4. In this pose set, the presets use an L and R in the lower corners of image. (I like that the L in the lower Left corner and the R is in the lower Right corner!) It also states in the preset name that the pose is the left or right pose in the image. This set is intended for two males. If you look closely, you can see the hands do not meet correctly. While I could use it like this, or with two females, I would have to put some work into making those two hands grasp each other correctly.
5. This final example set does not use the preset image to indicate who the pose is for. The name of the intended figure is in the preset name, and includes Victoria 8 and Michael 8, as well as the base G8F and G8M figures.
I hope this helps.Virtual Reality, is there a future for Daz without it?Well chicken and egg situation here, DAZ might not need VR but as the technology advances and people can interact more with 3D objects VR will almost certainly need DAZ as they make the most realistic 3D people
Valid point. As I have been experimenting with VR, Unity and games in general the past month, the DAZ figures are the best assets I have used in Unity by far. the quality and realism really shows when you are standing next to lifesize victoria and can reach out and grab her and pose her unlike the game mesh figures I have tried (although it was cool standing next to lifesize superhero figures like Bats and Superman from Injustice)
With the new Oculus quest being wireless and being able to access the PC also, it makes being in VR even better. I am saving for some VR gloves and eventually the Valve index once they get the bugs worked out and the price drops a bit. Now we (VR users) just need more developers to get on the VR wagon.
Since i started using VR, I am having a very hard time opening up Daz Studio as creating scenes on my desktop and renders just don't cut it anymore. As such, my spending here has also dropped since the money has gone to tools to get 3D assets into Unity and also other game titles for VR
Hi, plz id this female from this make-up?Looks like it's Keri for Victoria 8
What exactly are "Anatomical Elements?"There is only one set of Anatomical Elements for each base figure. The Anatomical Elements in the Aiko 8 Pro bundle are the same as those in the Victoria 8 Pro bundle, Monique 8, Mrs Chow 8 etc. If you buy one Pro Bundle for Genesis 8 Fermales you can use them on all the others. The same is true for the Male pro bundles and For Genesis 1, 2, and 3.
Pro Bundles for young characters and most Anime or Fantasy chatacters do not include Anatomical Elements.
Kanade 8So... figures without 100% Kanade dialed in.
Here's ChrystalAnn.
https://www.daz3d.com/chrystalann-for-kanade-8I did this setup because the eyebrows were 100% whoa.
Like retro Brooke Shields eyebrows! So I had to see what a more supermodel-ish look would do for her. This is 25% ChrystalAnn, 50% Eva 8, 25% Victoria 8. I dialed up the nose because I always adjust the nose.
First, when ChystalAnn loads in. Big ol'... ugly bags of mostly water. (Ha Star Trek reference.) Bigger than Kanade 8, if that matters.
The skin is neat. Good stuff for more realistic figures - plenty of details and flaws. The mole on the face is what got me.
Makeup options are more fantasy than kawaii style. She's maybe not 100% suited for Kanade that way, but whatever.
There are tattoo options!(I think I will just leave the image as an attachment and not blow it up. She has her bits all covered, but she's not wearing a whole lot...)
(Image removed for nudity. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/3279/acceptable-ways-of-handling-nudity#latest Leaving as an attachment still breaks ToS.)
Lucid Dream problemCurrent DS. The characters in the image are Josie 7 and Victoria 7. Victoria is in one of her basic poses.
REQ: Can we get rainbow stuff for the guys?UV mapping, often. Also tiling shaders mean you lose details that are part of textures. Also just a lack of clothing that would go with the other clothing set in question. We have how many variations on bikinis for each generation of VIctoria, don't see how this isn't a reasonable request.
Yeah, well, there are not five million texture addon packs for the five billion Victoria swimsuits, and people interested in seeing them with a different texture are usually expected to roll their own or use shader presets (maybe leaving the trim surfaces alone if they're concerned about losing details).
I don't have anything useful to say about Clothes That Do Or Do Not Match Party Monster because I'm not into that scene myself and don't know what a guy would be wearing at the event where the women dressed like that. I am only addressing "why don't men have brightly colored clothes in the store" when frankly, even the women's clothes in recent years tend towards rather meh color schemes, unless specifically themed to anime or Kpop.

Help with buying the Male Anatomical Elements please!male and female genitialia of Michael 8 Pro Bundle & Victoria 8 are in silver.
How to apply skins' color on their genital ?
Thanks.
The new Centaur 'n stuff thread - reloadedM4 should be possible, K4 is not planned because I do not have the K4 morphs. Is there a hivewire horse foal? Edit: I just discovered the foalI'm super-excited about this as a possibility for me. Is the v4/m4 going to be an available product somewhere? If LAMH could also be incorporated, I'd pay lots of money for the combo.
Keep in mind that this is not a professional product and it will be free. So it has it's limitations.Horse poses that bend, twist oder side-side the neck2 will result in poke through but by resetting these dials this can be compensated. The same will happen for poses that affect the lower body of the human figure.
Here's a WIP (Victoria 4.2 on HiveWire Horse).
DAZ 3D Human Figures - A HistoryOne figure sold by DAZ that had a separate .CR2 file from Victoria 3 was Jim Burton's 'Glamorous Vickie 3'. Was this a different mesh or just a model that was really a morph akin to the current V8 character being a morph for G8? Always been a bit confused by this, especially as in March I downloaded it again after a 12 year break from figure rendering, and forgot to download V3, but GV3 worked properly regardless.
Regards,
Richard.
Based off the Glamorous Vicki Set for Victoria 3.0 product page, it looks like they created a mesh that was very similar to Vicky 3, but didn't actually require the original figure. Especially this line:
A full fledged figure, not a collection of morphs, she uses Victoria III's textures, head morphs and (if desired) body morphs.
Sounds like a kind of product that wouldn't get past the gate today since it would mean you'd have something roughly compatible with V3 without needing to actually own V3. And, given that there seem to be compatibility issues (some items were specifically designated as being compatible with Glamorous Vicki 3), I'm guessing it didn't go over very well in the end anyway.

A bit of both ;)
Nowadays a version for G8F would most probably be a character like V8, but the technology was rather different at the time, so Glamorous Vickie and her friend Ingenue Vickie were created as standalone figures derived from V3. Each of them has her own base obj (a morphed V3 mesh) corresponding to the character, and her own cr2 (V3 cr2 with rigging adjusted for the new base shape, and extra morph channels listed in the cr2 so it can use the additional morphs provided in the pack). That's why you don't need to have V3 installed to use them.
Difference between materials and shaders? This is a seemingly innocuous but divided topic
Jeremy Birn of the Pixar fame even said the terms are interchangeable but so many argue black and blue over shaders, materials, substances, surfaces etc
it varies between software
DAZ can set a standard for studio but every other software suite uses its own conventions
Carrara a prime example a shader in Carrara is a what Studio users would call material hierarchy with inputs as a stand-alone shader simply does not exist or can be saved, likewise Octane Render engine and countless other renderers
thd best one can do is make consistent terms for DAZ studio and then users of other softwares will still get confused
Technically, it's made even more confusing because Iray doesn't have "shaders". It has "materials". That's why they're written in Material Definition Language (MDL).
But, back to the first response, in Daz Studio terms...
- To apply a Shader Preset, you have to select the item AND the surface you want it to apply to.
- To apply a Material Preset, you only have to select the item
- To apply a Hierarchical Material Preset, you would only have to select the parent. So for an HMP, you can select the figure (e.g. Victoria 8) and the preset is smart enough to find the correct clothing and surface to apply the changes to.

S.H.A.D.O.ws from the past - [WIP]On a related note, has anyone managed to get the various sculpted head morphs from Steve Kitt (that are on ShareCG) to work via morph loader pro? I've been trying to get the Ayshea Brough morph from ShareCG to take using Victoria 4.2 as the target figure, but it gives me an error message:
- No deltas for morph, skipping mode
It says that it has created the morph successfully, but (as far as I can see/search) no new morph appears has appeared in my parameters or shaping list...
Just for fun, I tried importing Ayshea's head morph.obj into Daz, which just makes an invisible cube with no features/nodes. Importing or bridging to Hexagon doesn't work (head shape never appears in Hexagon).
Any suggestions?
Did you follow the instructions in the Feedback section?
"Hi Jeremy,You load up V4 in DAZ,then in the scene tab, open up the V4 menu till you get to the head, select it,then use Morph loader to bring the new head on board."
Did you select the head to see whether the morph shows up there?
