  • Is there any need for classic Hollywood G9 head morphs?

@ Eustace Scrubb - Yes, I see now that my Burt Lancaster sculpt needs more TLC. BTW, thank you for appreciating my work! smiley As for "Desert Fury" Lancaster was known for his explosive temper, so it kind of fits but it wouldn't work as a head morph name. Nevertheless thanks for the suggestion. yes

Here's another actor (WIP) - try guessing who that is! I hope it won't be too difficult... wink

Hmm. I might be very late to the party on this, but I have made a little discovery.

It's possible to convert V3 to Triax Weight Mapping. If you do that, you can then create autofit clones of SP3, M3, GND2, A3, Ingenue Vickie, and GV3 that will allow these characters to mostly wear each other's clothes - except for those with high heel feet. All these characters have the same number of vertices and facets (if you get the right version) which means no modelling is needed to create the clone - If you want the A3 autofit clone, load A3, zero the character and export the figure as an obj file, then load it as an autofit clone morph. I was amazed at how easy it was.

The same can be done with each of the other characters.

    Regards,

    Richard.

I'm just going to be that guy.

What about converting other generations clothes to generation 3? Because I was told it couldn't be done 'cause generation 3 wasn't weight mapped.

Yes, up to the fourth generation (Victoria/Michael/Kids 4) the figuers used parameteric rigging, with the falloffs being controlled by angles from the joint  centre and, optionally, spheres that enclosed the area to move entirely and afalloff to no movement. Those can't simply transfer to another, differently shaped item - the angles/sphere properties will need a lot of tweaking to get a desirable result and the system will fail entirely with some things that are possible with weightmapping.

  • [Released] RSSY Hair Converter from Genesis 8 to Genesis 9 [Commercial]

I'm not getting any response here anymore, but I continue to have frustrating problems with the hair converter. The converted hair does not fit morphed characters, but a simple autofit fits fine. This is Swept Wetlook Hair. It is not dForce. It doesn't have a separate cap node, just a cap surface. I converted it, closed DS, opened DS and fit the converted hair to my morphed G9 character. The results were bad, with bald spots. If I render just the cap surface (hair surfaces set to cutout opacity 0), you can see how poorly the conversion fits the character. The problem is not character specific; I tried several, including Daz original characters. It is also not just this hair that has the problem. I know that the converted hair has some additional morphs provided by the conformers, but I have not been successful using those to really make the hair fit the shape of the character's head; that is what the auto generated character head morph should be doing, I think. Is there any help for this poor fitting problem or is it just inherent in the conversion process?

  • Diffeo export at base level with geograft, import as morph

A geograft is a different figure with its own morphs. If you want to import a morph for a geograft you have to use morph loader with the geograft, not with the base figure.

  • Diffeo export at base level with geograft, import as morph

I'm trying to export a G8 with a geograft (Breastacular) to Blender.
The goal is to do some animations, export the result as obj and use morph loader to load it as a morph.
If I  "merge geografts" morph loader pro is complaining about wrong geometry, if I don't merge the grafts the movements from Breastacular aren't correct.
Is there any way to do this?
    TIA

The main promo (attached) is the only back view of the CHB pleated pants. The back looks really strange. I think part of it is a lighting issue, but it looks like a super wedgie. If anyone bought it, is it as bad in the back as the main promo makes it look?

Just bought it. Here is my first simulation test and it simulates beautifully.

Thank you so much for sharing your results. Your image is so much better than the promo. This looks like a good product now.

You welcome, but be aware, the cleavage tends to show more than necessary. Much more than we see in the promo images.

There is a morph to tightening the front of the top. Dial it before simulating and it will hold. I included two pictures before and after

Edit: Also, don't forget to apply the Simulation settings preset, it's necessary to make it simulate like thicker fabric

Thanks for the tip. I appreciate it.smiley

    Love your stuff, BTW.

I'm glad you like it ♥ I'm always open for feedback and suggestions :)

And thank you for choosing my product! ♥

This has proved to be very useful, thank you Catherine.

The application I have used it for is with getting additional clothes for the very elderly Victoria 3 based 'Glamorous Vickie' model by Jim Burton. It's a very non- standard morph and few clothes fit. I have found that by converting the figure to Triax Weight Mapping, then adding an obj file of V3 in the default pose and Blackhearted's GND2 as clones, then most rigged V3 & GND2 clothing fits.

And I couldn't have done it without you.

    Many, many thanks.

Will be doing the same with GND2 and trying it with A3 and Jim Burton's Ingenue Vickie too.

    Regards,

    Richard

You're most welcome. Happy it's found a good home over there :-)

  • AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO? PARTE QUATTORDICI

    Anfy said:

Adesso salvalo come Figure-> Prop asset. Dovrebbero esserci tutte le opzioni originali lasciate dal autore. Sovrascrivi il file originale (fai un backup prima, ovviamente). Adesso dovresti avere il file fixato e con ancora tutte le opzioni di moprh e materiali originali.

https://www.daz3d.com/breast-utilities-for-genesis-9 If anyone gets this, if you'd be willing to post what the flat chested morph looks like on the masculine shape I'd appreciate it.

When I saw the promos I thought of you and all the posts I have seen about how unhappy you were with the male chest of G9. Hoping this makes a difference for you

Thanks. It would be nice, but I think the __|__ creased/compressed effect is just part of the mesh because of the default breasts.

I've tried combining different shpaing morphs that are available, but it usually ends up looking stranger, sometimes with double creases because they are fighting character body shapes.

Just a thought... Have you tried increasing smoothing on your G9 character?  I've done that before to get rid of creases... Sometimes it's a pretty big number before I get nice results.

You are applying smoothing to the character itself?????

yes :)  Especially with older characters like V4... the armpit crease bugs me to no end... lol

  • More Male Characters for Gen9???

Genesis 9 Starter Essentials was just updated with six new characters, three women (Amala, Kat, & Laura) and three men (Fabrice, Matt, & Ty). I tested out Fabrice and he has a wonderful skin/sculpt but I haven't got to the other five yet. These characters also add to the free morphs for your use. This is free and comes with Daz Studio, so you should have received the update in DIM a few weeks ago.

If you haven't purchased the Daz Originals morph packs, look them up and wishlist them. Many characters rely on them. The suggestions above are excellent and what I do.

I look to see if a character is mentioned in the forums or used in a render in the gallery when I am looking at the promo pages. For older items this can give you a great deal of information on what is good or bad about it. You can decide if it will be worth your money and time if there is an issue. And something to remember, if you can stand waiting for a sale, wishlist the product to save money.

I keep my eye out on female characters for those who offer male nipples and gens options, or go full out and create a male version of the female. It is a two for one deal then, and especially good if the PA makes great skins and features. It pays to read the details the PA writes out on the promo pages.
