A morph to shorten the dress for day wear would have been great, but that's easily done.
Do you have a tutorial on the subject ? I have a dress that is a pain to dForce that would work far better if only it was a tiny bit shorter, to avoid being caught by the feet…
You can hide the feet during simulation, but of course there is risk that they then will clip afterwards.
For making a morph to be shorter, I would export the dress to a modeller, and select the bottom row of faces, and then with proportional editing (that might be a blender term) enabled, set the radius to maybe 0.5m, or as appropiate, and drag upwards. I would assume other modellers have similar functionality.
Ha... I was thinking a different way... I don't model so I just find the dress and SCALE the left thigh... left shin... right thigh...right shin to 50percent... simulate... then up the SMOOTHING on the dress to get rid of poke through... Waaa laaa... no muss no fuss!
Wow, I never thought of doing it like that before but it makes perfect sense! Thanks for the tip!
My pleasure ;) Easy peasy!

Oakley for Genesis 9 [commercial]Here's mine, just applied Oakley texture and morph to an existing character which led to some small issues like the fingernails not changing but was still a fun experiment.

My favourite character has a very small chest (her body fat ratio consistent over her whole frame). I often find the clothing seems to bulge between her breasts, frequently by almost enough to convince you she has a central third breast. Looks quite unfortunate sometimes. I do wish I understood projection morphs so I could fix this. Does anyone know if there is a written (not video, please) tutorial anywhere explaining them? Regards, Richard.
My understanding is the only way we can affect projected morphs, is by adding rigidity, which doesn't really make sense in normal clothing.
I have tried to see if I could do something to improve it, but had to give up.
Would be happy if there was some way we could influence how projected morphs work.
A projection morphs is an alternative shape that can be used to project into the clothing, rather than using the actual morph. That can, for example, smooth out fine details that shouldn't be reflected in the clothing. In this case it might help to dent the sternum in, so that the cloth over it was pulled in (in the real morph that area is not moving and so the cloth stays put, leaving a ridge).

Crosswind, I came back to this thread to link to that very tutorial having spent the last 30 mins reading and convincing myself that I understand it. Thankee kindly for getting there first. Regards, Richard
That's great, Richard. You're welcome.
A trick BTW : If you wanna see and/or compare the "projected result" on the figure, you may copy the morph file with suffix "_proj" from projection folder to morph folder. Then you may check and modify it again in sculpting software as needed.
Face Transfer 2You haven't put the serial number in - if you had the box would go, as it has for the other plug-ins (including Face transfer) - the greyed out text is a guide to which serial goes there, since people soemtimes get in a muddle and enter the wrong one, it shows the first few characters that identify the product and then a string of Xs that will be the unique part of the actual code.
Face Transfer 2OK sit up.
When Face transfer 2 has its serial number inserted, you are still working on the trial basis
of 3 images. Although you inserted the serial number you are still not official.
After trial period ends, program asks you to insert the serial number again, this time it registers
Half a day was spent on this
Thank you for your time, might leave this post up for awhile

...I have several breast boy shaping resources like Breast control Breast Utilities, Natural Breast Morphs, Girls for G8F, and others but I always seem to run into mesh distortion trying to reduce size and circumference which can affect clothing fits. The Small Breasts Morphs for G8F resources appear to get around this..
Getting the breasts smaller when just about every character and body changing morph makes some changes to them, is quite a task. I have often given up and fixed the problems in Blender

Though I don't have these items, my gut feeling is that you just need to go for rigging with Joint Editor, Geometry Editor and Node Weight Brush. Not sure but maybe a better way is to rig it with General Weight...Blender, as well as Updating Geometry won't be needed either if you don't fix any morph ~~
As for rigging, there're a couple of tutorials on Sickleyield's youtube channel... I think you've probably have watched ~~

Awesome! Thanks, crosswind!
Wish me luck!
(p.s. oh btw - those items are free in the Daz Store. Once you download the decoder and the ticket, you are given a "secret folder" with two additional freebies that require the original items to "decode" the passwords on the secret gifts. It's fun, if you want to give it a go!
I won't reveal the secrets here. )Hoho ~ I must be blind. I even didn't notice they're Free. They're in my cart now, haha ~~

LOL!
Enjoy the adventure! Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - ongoing threadOh look, there's a pretty nice new 1930's outfit: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-1930s-party-frock-and-hat-for-genesis-9. It's looking quite good! A morph to shorten the dress for day wear would have been great, but that's easily done. The silhouette of the torso part is excellent. Am buying it on the spot

Edit: Heads up for those with little space, the outfit zip is rather large for what it is, almost 900 MB. I suppose it must be the textures, though their sizes don't seem extreme. Anyways, just so you know.
[Released] ManFriday’s Figure Converter for Genesis 9 [Commercial]OK, I found "a way" to convert G3 to G9 with the ManFriday converter, but it might not be the best way. I'll post the steps after I do a little more verification - probably tomorrow.
I converted the G3 Dandelion character, because she looked like a morph that was drastic enough to stress the system. After conversion I used Shape Rigger Plus G9 Edition and then created an eye morph to scale the eyes. She poses fine, and has no obvious distortion that I see.

As far as the "Adjust Rigging" goes, I can highly recommend Shaper Rigger Plus G9 Edition. You can do the adjustment yourself using Daz Studio built-in tools, but doing it correctly is kind of a hassle because of the G9 eyes being separate geometry. It is not a simple one pass operation with the Adjust Rigging to Shape tool. Shape Rigger Plus G9 Edition makes it very easy and does a fantastic job. It was developed by Zev0 and Josh Darling. Josh is a former Daz employee and current PA who has done a lot of detailed Daz Studio YouTube tutorials.
Yes, I bought it at the same time as this script, and it works fine, except it doesn't keep the changes when I save the character unfortunately, so I've been transferring the morphs using the G9 dev model, and studio's built-in Re-Rigging system.
I was in communication with ManFriday via PM in October about how to fix the converter for G3 to G9, but he dropped out of the conversation months ago and I haven't heard from him since. I also haven't seen him here in the forums, so I don't know what he is currently up to. I haven't spent any time seeing if I could get it to work without modification to the converter tool itself. If you want ot spend some time on that, I'd suggest changing the zero pose of base G3 and the G3 character you are converting, to closely match the G9 zero pose. I'm not sure how "permanent" you need to make the pose change, to make the converter tool use the changed pose.
Well, that sucks, I hope he's alright as I would imagine that most PAs are vigilant with their release threads, so I hope it's not a serious health issue; as far as getting G3 to work I get an error during the transferring process, ironically, V7 works, save for the morph corruption due to the zeroed poses both pictured below, luckily, I have Zev0's G3-to-G9 pose converter so I'll transfer G3's zero pose to G9, I already re-installed G3 Starter essentials, so hopefully that will work for V7...

I've found that converting G8 characters to G9 looks much nicer than many of the characters that are created for G9. Here is G8F Tara converted to G9. Can you tell which is which?
Which converter did you use? I want to try this with several characters.
I stopped short of purchasing this one, because it says that material presets do not covert. But how did you get the G8 skin material onto the G9 figure?
RSSY Character Converter Genesis 8 and 8.1 Female to Genesis 9 | Daz 3D
Material presets are also not converted. Default materials copied to your new Genesis 9 characters may have ugly seams and/or misaligned features due to the different UV layout.*
Alken's method looks like a great way to go. But I also wanted you to know that Riversoft Art and Sickleyield have a bundle that enables the convertor to also transfer the materials - but it needs Sickleyield's product to do so.
